    I know this video is a few months old and I am late to your channel but I just had an interview where they asked me what email server is used by Microsoft and being a little confused by the question, I answered with what you just said but after the interview, when they ask "do you have any questions for us?" I asked them how I did with my technical knowledge and how i did with the interview. The Interviewer told me that I only missed the email question they were looking for Microsoft exchange server for the answer. Everything else I passed on. They asked me what is an IP address?, what does DNS and DHCP do?, They asked me how I would handle a pc that wont turn on? And how would I handle a monitor that isnt turning on? They asked me how to install a new printer? and they asked me what it means when you see a question mark next to an item in the device manager? They offered me the position though so I am excited and your videos have helped me. THANK YOU!!

    another option to add a printer is opening the run command, and typing the "printer server" location i.e \\server, you will see all the resources that pc is sharing (folders and printers) and you just right-click and connect. The same goes for mapping the folders. Nice videos bro!

    Thanks Kev for this. I would say 85% to 90% of the time you answers are spot on. But we are all not perfect 100% all the time, and in IT support there can be many ways to answer one questions. Thanks for the videos, keep going!

      Sometimes the question can be too generic and the person just wants to see how you think. There more than 1 way to answer a question.

    Got my 2nd interview tomorrow and it's going to be in person. I just recently graduated from Per Scholas and got my A+ certification. This is my first in person interview since graduation and I am anxious. Been following you on LinkedIn and watching these videos in hopes I can nail it tomorrow.

    'What is one thing you like about IT and one thing you do not like about IT?'. Just adding this to the list of questions that came from an interview I had today.

    • @KevtechITSupport

      I been asked that question before. My answer was: I like IT because I get to learn and teach different technologies. Technology is always changing so I don't get bore because it's constantly changing. One thing I dislike about IT is the fact that I need to escalate a ticket if I don't have access to something. I don't like making the user or client wait.

    I recently did an Interview with an MSP as a LVL 1 helpdesk tech but anxiety got the better of me. From my personal experience it helps to take a few beatings to get interview experience and confidence .If you are still doing these series Kev I could share some of the questions they asked.

      Kevtech IT Support well they actually didn’t ask me any technical question. Just wanted me to talk about my experience with troubleshooting issues and problem solving. They said they could teach anyone to click here and here to fix an issue but they wanted someone who could problem solve and have good people skills. They told my friend who works there that it went well and I seemed like a good fit.

    Hi Kev, I am looking for a job as a service desk engineer and I am confused what topics I would need to know as I am pissed of watching random vedios on this. I think you would be the right person to ask, how I can prepare myself as I have a little experience as a technical support advisor. Please help me on this. It would be great if you would suggest some of your vedio links so that I can look onto those..

    • @KevtechITSupport
      @KevtechITSupport  4 роки тому +1

      I have a playlist on job interview videos. I can't answer your question for service desk engineer because titles don't mean anything. You need to look at the job description and go based on that for job interview questions. Every company has a different style for job interviews.

  • @ColbyCheeser
    @ColbyCheeser 3 роки тому

    Hey Kev, why do you think that it's not good to be more technical. Don't you think it will help your chances if you just rant for like 10-15 seconds on your technical knowledge about a subject?

    • @KevtechITSupport
      @KevtechITSupport  3 роки тому

      because some managers don't like hearing long answers, I been in an interview that they want short answers. Some managers like technical answers and some don't. It depends who your doing the interview with pretty much.
