On my own car I do just that repair my parking lot dings and any scratches that were bad. I just order my base coat and 2k Spray Max clear coat and do my thing. Wish I could post a picture of my 12 year old Kia Optima LX just to show how good it still looks. 🤣
Starting out on my own, learned alot here thank you for sharing! Been wanting to learn correction and possibly rust remediation I am in Northern Michigan. Rust is inevitable up here!
WOW. What a great show all the techniques to use all the different problems that were exposed and all the different success solutions that you came to were amazing. I am pretty sure that Mister would agree with me that Dad did a great job on this car. Phil your standard of excellence in the production of these videos is really appreciated.
Great methodology and results for the task you were presented with. Initially I was like, man Phil's got his work cut out on this one. Always great to see Mister hanging out. Even if he's in the way. 🤣
That was a incredible turnaround on one of the most finicky paints I have seen. Considering the canvas you had to work with it came out amazing. Even the walking boss Approved. 🐈
Excellent work. Always a good video from Miranda. Love the plastidip. Done my trim, Engine bay parts, grill, emblems, and even tinted my taillights with it.
If it was Joe here, I like this video the most I like the older videos than the new ones but this one I can really like to from my detailing business and I’ve got a similar problem that’s on the hood and on the roof of the vehicle that I’m working on now
Awesome video Phil. Can't always chase perfection (actually never). 😉 Need to get my wife to do the glass for me... Meguiar's Fast Finish was a "go to" for me several years ago. 👍
cracking job Phil and Jess, love seeing the trim go from grey back to black again. Paint scuffing, should have been an ideal candidate for the TW Black Wax/Polish products, to perhaps colour some of the scratch marks more... 😊 Sealant spray good, but is it better than Meg's ceramic detailer?
Thanks! This was a older video from this past winter...I wish I had the Black Polish and Wax for it at the time. It would be interesting to see what it would do.
Yes, Fusso coat works great for dark paint. Seems like your friend scratched that paint with these new posts that are made of cement on either a parking lot or a gas station. The seats are velour. Great to learn about the plastic dip. I have seen it before but wasn't sure what was it for. New learning everyday, thanks. 👍👍👍 By the way, wifey rocks. Xoxo from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷

I recently got a used black truck, dealership filled in scratches with touch up paint, wasn’t too good of a job, they said they tried their best to blend in. My question is, what’s a good way to do my best to hide it?
Thank you! Finally someone showing how to clean those door jambs. Seems not to be a youtube thing. 😉 If the window trim is the usual kind of hard rubber, you can revive it with a microfibre cloth and some degreaser. A trick from Auto Fetish Detail. I don't remember which video. Due to translation challenges I've used tar remover. Worked amazingly but might be waaay too agressive as the solvents "attack" the rubber.
Not an expert but iv done some paint scuff repairs before. Im confident you could of use 1000 grit to sand it down first then 2000 grit then 3000 grit to fine all that up. Follow by the cut and polish. I think it would of gotten most if not all of the scuff out.
Thanks for the tip. Unfortunately it wasn’t just scuffs. It’s deep scratches that I could feel were deep. I would compromise the paint but going that far anyway...ever. It’s just not worth it.
Nice video man. So rewarding to see the progress. One thing I'm learning or seeing with pro detailers like yourself is that when you tackle a scratch or defect etc, you might go for more than one product to get the result you want. Totally makes sense. As a DIY guy who likes to detail my own car, I don't have too many options for polishes but I do have a few. I'm polishing my car this week and I have a question; I have striping along the top edge of the doors on my '14 Nissan Frontier. Should I avoid touching those with the DA polisher? I actually don't like the stripe but it was on there when I bought the truck. Thanks man and keep up the great work!!
Thanks! If the striping is in good condition you can go over it gently with the da on medium speed. But if it’s dry and cracking then avoid it since it will flake and ruin the pads. 😎👍🏼
You mentioned not to worry I know but on my 2012 camaro I have a cold air intake and it isn't actually in an enclosed box can I still rinse around it should I just try to keep it from getting too wet or what would you recommend
Can’t recommend enough Jade Quartz or Ice Pro enough. DetailKing is who sells the Pro version. Amazing gloss, and super super hard durable coating. Super slick, everything you’d want out of a coating. Every shop who is certified in Ceramic Pro in my area actually uses Jade because its that much better. Jade Waterfall A69 is also a really fun and great product.
Also what i meant by the ceramic pro comment, not that i think its so great, but its most common in my area and a buzzword for customers, everyone has pretty much moved onto installing jade while saying its CP lol
Any reason for not shampooing and extracting the seats seems you could’ve put in a little more effort and got much better results??? cheers the paint looked great
Hi. Thanks. Some people think that extracting gets the best results. We have found that not to always be the case. If they seats don’t need it extracting can actually make things worse. I know some “UA-cam Detailers” show a lot of extracting, but we have run into many issues when we extract without really needing to. It’s best to clean the surface and not over saturate seats and carpets. We have seen better results when cleaning like this then with using an extractor. But everyone’s experience may be different because each vehicle and situation is different. 😎👍🏼
Thanks. I dilute it 10:1 in a gallon jug. It sounds like a lot but it’s not when you use the foam cannon....It dilutes it even more. ua-cam.com/video/1WcFYPJZXEM/v-deo.html
I noticed you have a natural gas forced air heater in you garage. I’m undecided on whether my garage should go this way or natural gas infrared. Comments/suggestions please?
Well that heater was her when we moved in. We just rent this place. But I would go with either the Infrared or Ben a mini split that does both heat and cooling!
Yeah it would have. I don’t have the 403/404 yet though. Both Trim serum and Ceratrim feel very similar when applying. But i haven’t put them up against each other yet to see which is more durable.
Hey Phil, I noticed on your shelf that you have the Renew Protect line. I’ve tried the Blak and the Gloz on my black plastics and tires respectively. I wasn’t all that impressed. The Gloz didn’t have much staying power and the Black did a decent job but faded quicker than I would have expected and shelf life was not so good. What did you think of them??
Yeah I’ve found that to be the case also. It may last a few weeks to months but that’s it. It need reapplication after while. Plus it’s kind of a pain to apply.
Hi. Yeah, each vehicle is different. Some have more contamination than others. For really gritty paint the clay towel or mitt may not be enough. You may have to use the clay bar for the bottom portions since they are the worst.

They can accomplish the same thing. The clay towel covers a larger area. But the clay bar will be more maneuverable around tight areas. Plus the clay bar is better at removing really heavy contamination.
You prob could have gotten that whole defect out on the fender/Door. When i get jobs like this i make the defect wet and if it goes away wet your are all good
Unfortunately not. I get what you’re saying because I used to do minor body work and painting and clear coating. It was very deep. It’s not worth it to dig so far into it and compromise the paint. I only go as far as I can safely go. Wetting like you mentioned is sully a good rule of thumb but it’s not always accurate. Better to be safe than sorry and cut through the paint.
Thanks for the tip. The orange lake country pad is a medium cutting, and I did use a light polish in certain areas. Some parts had been repainted so it’s not OEM paint I was dealing with thought out. So I had to change things up when I hit certain panels. But that’s the way it goes. If anyone has been polishing for any length of time they know that there are many different methods and products that are used in each detail. There is no one product\pad combo that works all the time.
