You easily can make 75k plus if you can market and upsell inflated and useless services like this kid. Just make sure you’re in an affluent region with an available market. This is a VERY value added dependent service, you MUST be able to communicate well and be a good salesman. If you can do that, you’ll have it made. No need for any real “detailing” skill.
However, HIGH quality paint correction without F-ing up the paint takes a little skill which can be learned very quickly.

@@thatkckidd.6563 probably not the answer you were looking for, but I don’t detail at all anymore other than my own vehicles. Everyone commenting "this is not a ceramic coating" what sealant do you know of that lasts up to 18 months? Thought so. This is a branch for detailers to get into.. For the customers that don't want to pay over a grand, starting, for a 3+ year coating. And anyone commenting that for $600 you'd apply a traditional glass bottle ceramic coating, well I'm sure your work speaks for itself or you truly aren't charging enough. Luke, thank you for making more and more content for detailers that want to be profitable and make a living. You help us tremendously. Would never have thought of this. I 100% agree it makes sense to capture the market segment you are targeting with this. It provides grest value and results to the customer with a $600 budget. I don't like calling it a ceramic coating, it dilutes the coating industry. A ceramic spray sealant or ceramic based sealant is better terminology in my opinion. Keep in mind, for long term protection, you are putting your own reputation behind the products you install.

Great Video Luke! In response to your iron remover idea, i have a different point of view. If you use the iron remover before, you make it easier for the clay bar to pike up contaminants as well as the chemical loosening the particles. I just think that since clay bars aren't the cheapest things in the world, putting less stuff in the clay will make it last longer. We all have opinions and if it works for you then keep doing it as you have been super successful. Once again, great video!

I agree! Just find it unfortunate how he's choosing to communicate that value more recently. Calling the lady's Santa Fe an entry level car was a terrible way to start. And this should have been about developing relationship, getting the car back for maintenance work, etc. Instead the focus seems to be on "I just got away with 600 bucks because the lady doesn't really understand what I'm doing". If that's the case and considering she asked for shine, he could have used coconut oil on tires and she wouldn't know the difference.

I found that I was able to be faster with the claybar when the iron decon was used BEFORE claying. That's the reason why I use chemical before physical decon. But still, your arguments are very good concerning this!

    • @alecwoodard7665
      @alecwoodard7665 4 роки тому +2

his argument is non-existent. "I haven't seen empirical evidence, side-by-side, etc"
You use the easiest means to remove debris FIRST before going to harsher abrasives, simple order of operations: Rinse, Wash, Chemical Decon, Clay, Polish (test spot, if the results are good, continue, if not... compound then polish).
      Logic works.

What if all the non-iron particles are physically preventing iron from coming up? Clay bar gets as much stuff out as physically possible. And then once all that stuff is out of the way - its time for chemical.
Makes perfect sense to me, unless the iron stuff doesnt wipe off or requires claybar after anyways

Great. There are always questions you should ask each customer in regards to situations just like this. Ask how they feel about how their paint and car looks right now, it will easily let you know what potential services you can offer. Not everyone needs a lengthy correction and crazy coating, especially if they’re doing tunnel washes all the time. You need to find out how they wash their vehicle and how it’s driven. A weekend driven enthusiast vehicle would most likely want the works, whereas a daily driven tunnel washed vehicle would benefit from a quick polish and simple coating as anything else you’re just throwing money away.

I know its a fickle grey area, but for customers that you have good rapport with, it would be cool if you could get them to agree to get on camera for a reveal/reaction. Especially for jobs like this one or the red jeep.
Obviously not relative to the overall content or subject matter, I know, but it would be a fun little bonus for these specific jobs. Just food for thought.
THAT BEING SAID, I have been wanting to tell you that I really enjoy and appreciate your content. It is concise, informative, and really well articulated. It really speaks to someone like myself that has good business sense and an appreciation for like minded, studious individuals.
Keep on keepin on. Much love from Denver, CO

i like how you rinse of the foam then wash, i struggle to accept if foam does its job by lifting grime why some people wash car while its still covered in foam its obviously holding on to contaminants especially on lower panels

It's kinda funny that people today think silicone/ceramics are new. Just look at Nu Finish, they were like the original ceramic coat, it only sucked and can cause damage due to the large amount of heavy solvents in it. The tech is better, especially for paint, but it's totally not new. I see this video is a year old but there were quite a few silicone/ceramic based trim coatings around at the time. Years ago, people used to talk bad about silicones. They called them cheap and used to claim they would damage everything from tires to car paint to dash boards. They avoided it. Pretty sure that's why they started calling them "ceramics!" The carriers were the damaging aspect, not the silicone. The carriers were usually solvents that browned tires or cracked vinyl. My favorite tire dressing is Meguiars All Season. It has a decent dimethylsiloxane content, and I treat it like a ceramic coat since a little goes a very long way. I dribble it around a tire instead of spray, and work in with an applicator. For trim, I apply 2 or 3 thin coats and Ive seen it last close to a year. It will, like you said, leave patches on severely faded, chalky, porous trim, but 1 or 2 more coats on the parts that drank it up usually fixes it. A gallon of the stuff lasts me literally forever since I only use like 10ml for tires, and I use it on every customer car unless they specifically state they would prefer a water based tire dressing. That said, technicians choice makes a pigmented ceramic coat for rubber, vinyl, and plastic. It's like $15 -$25 for 2oz, and doesn't leave those "high spots" or streaks mentioned. Check it out!

Bunch of you are complaining about this video and ignoring all the work done. Detailed wash prep paint correction would cost 4-500 without ANY spray coating. yes the coating is cheap and easy, but the rest is not.

he went on a spiel about "no empirical evidence... yadda yadda..." bottom line: Chemical Decon makes claying easier, and results in less marring, meaning less polishing is needed after.
But he's also hawking crappy snake oil like "The Last Coat" so.... the only thing that would be worse, is if he wear pimping Chemical Guys

I say Gyeon can coat any day. I would be floored if this stuff last 9 months with just washing. Of course if you add a topper you will think it’s lasting longer. I like to know how long the coating last as a stand alone with proper washing. None of the videos no one seems to worried about high spots at all.

Lots of people hating it, I see both consumer/detailer cost-benefit here, a 30ml bottle of GTechnic/Nasiol, etc is about $70, and for about $50 you get an 8oz of Black Ice, and ok, we all know that a true coating will last longer, but c`mon guys this is a no brainer win-win, my 2 cents :)

Dude the cat is out of the bag turtle wax hybrid solutions 3 in 1 for $13 per bottle...Two beers and 10 feet guaranteed you can’t tell the difference. Just applied to my $85,000 Audi S5 and you would think in auto spa did ceramic for $1500. In actuality it took me around 30 minutes for dirt cheap

Mack Monro Yup piece of cake. I exert more energy walking to my mailbox and back then applying an entire coat of these new age DIY ceramic coats. The perfect solution for the weekend garage warriors. Which 99.7% of people on here are. Maybe if I had a Bugatti, or a Lamborghini to detail I would invest in one of these over the top dealer applied professional grade ceramic coats. Until then I’ll stick with my $13 a bottle stuff.

Great video. Just speaks to the level of “better than” attitudes that go into this business a lot of the time. THIS is realistic. I think it’s a great idea and solution and a great money maker for the average customer. Great job. One note-you said you’re using “bead maker” to clean the wheels and wheel wells but I think you meant brake buster judging from the color. (Had to go back and look lol). That is what you meant right? I’m knew to this level of detailing (on personal stuff) and just trying to learn if you’re doing something out of the box! Thanks!

So i just want to say I really enjoy your content and it is really helping me start my own business in detailing. One day I would love to be on your level but I understand that takes time. With me starting out what is the best way i can market my business and what equipment and product do I need to start out just until I make enough to get more. I already have some store bought product and a shop vac that I used on my car and got the job done. I just don't want to break the bank just to start. So whatever advice or non super expensive equipment and product you recommend I would greatly appreciate it. Also im charging 100 to 150 a detail just wondering if that is to low because of the value I offer. I do apologize for the book im writing but just trying to learn the best way I can .

A professional ceramic coating can only apply one way. It’s ok if you are in for the $ but to me your are stealing from your clients. 60% of scratches remove and after ceramic coating apply is completely ridiculous. There is enough thief in this industry and you are one of them. It doesn’t last more than 8 months.

    • @thelostcause7983

I'm not sure I agree but I don't disagree either. If the customer has all the details and possible drawbacks explained to them and they are still satisfied with the price and results, that's not theft that's business. On the other hand if the customer is mislead or deliberately left in the dark, then it's a bit of an immoral practice
