Regarding our noted discrepency in the manual related to the elastomer stack configuration, Heusinkveld have gotten back to us with the following:
"It is an mistake in the product manual, which we will correct as soon as possible. All the illustrations simply show one spacer too few. It is therefore correct that the Sim Pedals Sprint brake pedal is delivered with 3 spacers and 28mm soft elastomer in the default setting. For use with the 19mm elastomers, 4 x 10mm spacers are required. Since printing the manual, an additional 5mm spacer has been added for even more versatility."

I'm glad I saw this bit about the extra spacer. It was the deciding factor for me. Just purchased through your link buddy :)

oh, my redline Sprints are getting a bit soft in the pedals and just looked and I have only 3 hard spacers . Heusinkveld didnt think it was important to let its customers know? You would think you would have an option to purchase new elastomer's ? At the moment I cant locate my spacers and elastomers so have contacted Heusinkveld asking can I buy a set. Will wait and see what there reply is.
btw: my brake got a horrible squeak but thankfully I got a can of WS40 Dry Ptfe...one spray and it worked magic

I am obligated to mention, Heusinkveld customer service is simply incredible! I once broke the board with the connector for the USB cord. 100% stupidly my fault, admitted that to Heusinkveld while asking about the possibility of purchasing a replacement board, and they refused to take my money and sent me a replacement free of charge! Not only that, they sent with 2 day shipping to the States!
And the modular design of the electronics made it so incredibly easy to fix.
I wish they would make a direct drive wheel, I'd wager it would be the best on the market. 😏

One thing needs to be mentioned that their customer service goes above and beyond. I bought this pedals 2nd hand with 1 month left in warranty. I contacted them as I didn’t have the small wrench’s that comes with the kit as I needed to adjust the placement of the pedals. Enzo was more than happy to send me the missing wrench’s without asking any questions! Unfortunately they sent me the Allen keys instead of the requested wrench’s. They arrived super fast in 2 days and I live in the US. I emailed him again about the incident didn’t expect he would even care to read my mail but boy I was wrong! 2 days later they sent me a whole box full of accessories that includes the wrench’s! One of the best if not the best customer service I dealt with.

I'll definitely agree with you here. I too bought a used set of Sprints that were missing some of the spacers and elastomers. Sent them an e-mail, had a response within literally 5 minutes, an order created within 15 minutes and had the parts a few days later. Order placed on a Friday and parts arrived on Monday. I'm in the US. Just insane customer service. Went from V3's to these and couldn't be happier. I've had them about 2 months and no issues at all so far. The software is excellent. Took me about a week to dial them in to where I'm very comfortable with both software and mechanical adjustments(Yeah, slow learner, I know). Really can't go wrong with these.

Mistakes happen even in the best costumer services. I dont think any reasonable and sane person would ever be upset as long as the costumer service sticks to it having been a msitake. If I weren't happy with my self-build pedals, Heusinkveld would definitely be on the top3 for what I would buy instead.

I upgraded from G27 pedals to HE sprints late last year. One thing I learnt is that the brake modulation you can get from these compared to G27 pedals introduces a whole new way of controlling the vehicle while under braking and mid corner. It did take me a good 5 hours to get my old G27 lap times back lol but now my lap times are more consistently fast then ever.

@@simonbruhn8062 Do it! My old and trusty G27 setup lasted me for 8+ years so I stand by their products for that reason, especially for people wanting to learn/start off in sim racing. The HE Sprints though are in a whole different league and their construction is comparable to some real world pedal boxes I've used. If you are still using the G29 wheel though, I feel as if that would be worth upgrading first as wheel feedback is ever so slightly more important than braking feel. Either way though, I can can guarantee every part of you will love it, maybe except for the wallet :)

January '14 I got my G27, in like June '16 I modded them, removed from the case, custom wood pedal box, inverted, and the gteye brake spring, then swapping the rest out in line. Picked up the new pedals yesterday locally on sale, then ordered the rest of my rig online... wish I would have 2 weeks ago since I have all this week off of work... oh well.

I'm on my second set of these (had to sell the first one due to financial reasons) and can absolutely recommend them. Adjustments a plenty, compact size, great build quality, great understated looks, great software, reliable. I can't actually name one thing that would bother me with those. They hold their value too, so even if you don't like them and have to sell them after a while you'll still get good money for them. The base plate is not necessary if you have a rig like the SimLab ones where you have a proper pedal plate already - just screw them on and you're good to go.
Edit: racing boots highly recommended if you wanna get the max out of these (the pedal plates edges feel sharp on bare feet. Note they are not sharp at all and you definitely won't cut your hand on them while handling, just the feeling while pressing with your bare feet)

Really good review. As a former user of the Fanatec CSP v3, i tried the HE Sprint pedals at the SimracingExpo in 2018 and instantly felt in love with these pedals.😍 Right in the moment these pedals became available i ordered a set.
In the first months of usage i had a loadcell failure, but this was only an issue with the first batch of the Sprint pedals. But the Heusinkveld support is phenomenal and i had a completely new brake pedal in my hands within a few days.👍
Now ... over 3 years later: Yes, newer revisions of the Sprint pedals are more refined, but my "first-batch-Sprints" still work great and i never regret the switch from the CSP v3.

Nice in depth review. I have the non redlihe version. Owned 6 months now probably 10-20hrs per week use. Brake is excellent no probs. Throttle has required lubrication. Clutch became noisy within a few weeks. I have had to add a rubber sleeve to the rod inside the spring to stop the spring knocking. I've also had to ensure there was reasonable pre load. At light/low preloads problems occur. Tightening the rotation points and lubing it seems to resolve things. One note is that it seems almost impossible to buy a replacement clutch as a spare from at least one of the disties here in aus, and HE are also reluctant and wouldn't sell me one as a spare after asking more than once. No idea why. Unrelated, configuring the brake and clutch inverted with throttle non inverted results in a rj9 lead which is too short and you can't easily buy a cable. An old retro handset cable with an rj45 coupler does the trick though. Hope this feedback is useful.

Exact same experience here, except instead of a rubber sleeve on the clutch I just tweaked the setup on it just so. I also did have to get a new load 1kg load cell for it at one point, and HE support staff was amazing through the process. Not a perfect product but I still couldn't ask for more given the price they're charging.

    • @trevorjlewis

I'm also inverted, the throttle R9 gets plugged into the clutch side and clutch wire into the throttle side of the brake mounted PCB. Obviously this shows up in Smart control as arse about face so the clutch animation moves when I depress the throttle etc, but is no biggie as in game they are bound correctly.

  • @brettdarren8799

Been using these for a year now and these are great, they're a well made set of pedals with enough adjustment to suit pretty much any application and the smart control software is great too. Ive been running the biggest rubber on the brake with maximum pre load on the spring with 65kg force and find that works well for me. Went from logitech g920 to csl lc pedals which werent too bad before getting these and was amazed how much better these were again and how much more consistent my driving became with the sprints. Only a couple of minor issues in a year and each time their customer support responds quickly with a diy fix. They seem to be made that well that if theres any issues they are minor and possibly just how the are configured sometimes but HE have been able to diagnose the problem each time with a quick fix which is great imo as no one wants to pack their gear up and post it off if it can be avoided.

    • @rudigerstevens123
      @rudigerstevens123 Рік тому

I currently own the CSL LC pedals (but already ordered the sprints). I can imagine that you got more consistent. One big issue with the CSL LC brake pedal is that the load cell is located in the neck of the pedal between the plate and the point where the elastomer stack is attached to it. This means that putting your foot a bit higher on the pedal makes a much larger difference in measured brake force as it does on other LC pedals. So beside muscle memory you also need a good "position memory". Fanatec seems to be aware of that as they changed the design on the CL LC v2 pedals!
But too late for me :-)

I've gone from logitech G25 pedals, to doing the pedal mod (the eraser and springs thing back then)to inverting them in my rig, to upgrading to these sprints. Well, the non-team-redline one's... and i absolutely LOVE them. I am however guilty of putting them in the weakest position, but that's due to my irl work, where i stomp on the gas and brakes all day so much that my back already hurts.
If these pedals start creaking, tighten up the bolts again, if that doesn't work, use dry grease to lubricate them as per manual.. I've used them A LOT and they are performing wonderfully. Many MANY hours of simracing and trucksimming with these pleasures under my feet. Well done Heusinkveld!

  • @trevorjlewis

I've had a set of Sprints for about a year or so, absolute game changer to quote one of your sayings. Changed from Fanatec V2 to the Sprints. Immediate and measurable improvement in stage times in Dirt Rally, also an immediate improvement in frequency of crashes, the level of control with these is off the charts compared to all pedals I have had in the past, from cheapo DFGT plastic pedals, G27s, Fanatec V2. Apart from the DFGT I have always mounted my pedals inverted, the G27s were stripped out of their plastic casing and mounted on my own manufactured rig, the V2's came next and were disassembled and rebuilt fully inverted mounted on a modification to my rig, and finally the Sprints were mounted the same. I found max braking load was 35kg in the Smart Control but this still feels quite a solid push and feels identical to the feel of the proper Ford 909 Group A bias pedal box I had in my Sierra Cosworth Rally car. Can't see me ever needing to upgrade these they do exactly what I need them to do. Cheers for the review Will, basically watched it for your thoughts on them.

Made some rapid upgrades in 2020 to my pedals going from G29's to Fanatec CS v3's, then attempting to support local with the Simworx GT v3 here in Australia before side grading to the standard version of these Sprints, and they've been flawless after nearly 2 years of racing, with easy initial hardware tweaks and the ease of use with SmartControl to make custom clutch maps to match my most driven cars
As much as there are good options that compete and have come out recently, I don't have any compelling reason to consider a switch any time soon, though the HRS pedal faces are definitely on my mind for the looks and to save my poor sock feet from the edges of the pedal faces in the rare moments of heel+toe I do 😅

I added a bolt under the center at the back of the base plate the tightens down to my rig to add rigidity to that area of the base plate as that's where the most force is applied as that's where the break is and the least support exists in the base plate there, whereas the throttle and clutch pedals see less pedal force applied and are on top to the mounting rails underneath and get the most rigid support from the design of the base plate, obviously any tiny bit of movement you can remove the more the pedals will preform ultimately

I do have these (non-Redline) for quite a while and have to say they are great pedals. Totally agree with everything you mentioned. One of my friends purchased the Fanatec V3 pretty much at the same time i got my HE Sprint pedals. His main reason was that he, unlike me, does not have a dedicated Simrig and he would have had to purchase the baseplate in addition to the pedals itself, increasing the price for the 3 pedal set even more compared to the V3. After trying out my HE Sprints he instantly regret he didn´t spend the extra ~260€. Can only recommend these pedals, although i´m staring at the Ultimate+ pedals. I´m just not sure if these are that much of an upgrade to the Sprints so it would justify the 1300€ to upgrade my pedals...

I've bought a new BPK (I think my elastomers have gone bad as the pedal is now "squishy"/too easy to press 100%) and I have put off actually installing it for MONTHS as I dread the pain in my knees and back pulling the V3s out of the rig and putting them back in. Even if the HE pedals weren't any better performance-wise, this easy change ability would be worth it.

Seeing a number of near new Fanatec CS V3 pedals for sale cpl yrs ago, I enquired and found more than 1 owner was moving to HE Sprints - told me all I needed to know, while $1033AUD for set of pedals sound ludicrous even my wife agreed no point settling at $600 if you're not going to be satisifed - purchased Aug '20 and they are silent & smooth today. Only minor issue is the plastic white bush that centres the throttle rod (inside the spring) in the back keeps coming loose - but doesn't affect use.

The regular Sprints were on sale in the US at Micro Center, $563 with tax for the 3 pedals and heel plate. Took me longer to drive down (partially due to icy roads, MN winter) than to decide to buy. Haven't used them yet, gotta wait for the new chassis and wheel, but the unboxing and assembly was a show of the quality, these pedals and base are heavy, seriously makes the Logitech's look like a child's toy. Just based on that initial, I see why so many people suggest them. Great review! Now where is that chassis I ordered...

Actual WD-40 or one of their lubricating products? WD-40 itself is NOT a lubricant, in fact it will dry out your rubbers/elastomers and may cause them to prematurely fail depending on what materials they are made from. The WD part of WD-40 stands for Water Displacement and it does pretty much that and that only.

1:11:20 You mention the noise is pretty minimal to nonexistant with potentially a slight noise in the brake pedal. I remember seeing in your review of the Ultimates that the throttle pedal had a bit of noise in that model but still very minimal.
I currently have the Fanatec Clubsport V3 and the noise it makes when I depress the clutch pedal all the way and then allow it to slap back is quite significant, and has always deterred me from using the clutch in fear of the neighbors hearing me slamming it in and out.
If I am in the market for the absolute *quietest* pedals would I be better served by the Sprint or the Ultimates? Being that you have tested both? Or are they very similar to the point that noise is not significantly different between the two? Are both however, quieter than the Fanatec Clubsport V3?
