When Cesar first says “No” is an all time theater moment for me. I saw this movie twice in theaters and both times people gasped and clapped when that happened.
I also remember that moment in the theater. The movie took just long enough of a pause to allow the audience to react. At first the theater was silent and then all at once you heard a collective "woh!"
What really made it work was having the 'get your hands off me, you damn dirty ape' (one of the most iconic lines of the original movie) joke immediately beforehand. I remember the audience starting to groan at that, and then Caesar says 'NO!' and everybody is just instantly stunned.
That moment is also mentioned in the original Planet of the Apes series as the turning point when apes rose against humans when their leader named Caesar spoke the first human language word "No!" With that knowledge, when I saw it here, I was glad they made it so epic!
Buck the Gorilla took multiple bullets to the chest and still managed to bring down the helicopter. Rest in peace Buck. And Cesar's " NOOOOO!!!!" Was breath-taking. Never heard silence in the theater like that.
It's inspired from the original Planet of the Apes movies, Escape from the Planet of the Apes: "They became alert to the concept of slavery. And, as their numbers grew, to slavery's antidote which, of course, is unity. At first, they began assembling in small groups. They learned the art of corporate and militant action. They learned to refuse. At first, they just grunted their refusal. But then, on an historic day, which is commemorated by my species and fully documented in the sacred scrolls, there came Aldo. He did not grunt. He articulated. He spoke a word which had been spoken to him time without number by humans. He said 'NO.''. - Cornelius
Caesars "NOOO!!" is genuinely one of the best moments of acting I have ever seen. I think k that was when I realized Amdy Serkis is one of my favorite actors.
I always admired how Caesar never wanted to kill the humans in this trilogy, rather just break free from their rule. I never saw it as him being weak, but as Caesar actually being the bigger individual. Caesar was a great leader because he kept his eye on the actual goal, which was for his kind to be free from human rule. He only killed when it was absolutely necessary and he always did his best to not make things personal. In Dawn of the Planet of the Apes when Caesar and the other apes rencountered the humans he even tried to make peace with them rather than go to war, because he knew how devastating war could be for both the humans and the apes. A wise leader always searches for peace if it is possible rather than solve problems through violence. Caesar didn’t force the apes to hate the human race, he didn’t ask them to kill every single one of them (like Koba), he just thought about what was best for his kind. Caesar knew in order to be a higher species you must be better than the ones who abused you. I saw the trailer for the 4th movie and I’m so hyped for it! Tho it seems some apes have learned nothing from the humans and are beginning to act just like they did after becoming the dominant species. Hopefully this knew character (who I believe is named Noa) will take after him and follow in his footsteps.
One thing that's interesting about Koba and Cesar, is Koba is a bonobo which are considered one of the most docile of the big apes, yet he's scary and more aggressive. Where Cesar is a chimpanzee, which are considered extremely aggressive, but he's sweet and innocent.
this is off topic but the casual comment about both of your moms being gone was heartbreaking to hear. rest in peace to your mothers and i hope wonderful memories of them are a comfort to you guys this holiday season ❤️
This trilogy is one of the best of all time. Truly remarkable films…it hurts me that Andy serkis did not get recognized for his work in this film because it’s truly amazing to know that this is freaking motion capture. Just like gollum and I feel that people who do it don’t get recognized. So excited to continue to watch these reactions with you both!!! ❤
the moment when cesar first says “no” still gives me chill. it just shows how powerful ability to speak means! i personally really like this movie, such a good movie.
I am doing my PhD in Anthropology and I know some primatologists and the hand gesture she explained about asking permission/submission is correct and I really appreciate that detail in this movie
From the first “NO” from Caesar until basically the end of the movie is just **chills** after *chills* after chills. It’s amazing. When the silverback breaks open the zoo enclosure… FUCK. And then immediately pulling off the cast iron to use as spears? Holy shit. Just so goddamn hype. This movie was FAR better than I could have anticipated, it was my intro to this franchise. Edit: then climbing up/underneath the bridge just makes so much sense but when it happens it’s so goddamn cool to see.
I think another reason why the “NO!” scene is so badass is due to that fact that apes are so similar to humans. The biggest thing that separates us from them is speech so seeing an ape shout “NO!” kinda breaks the barrier of us from them so it’s super shocking and surreal.
Dawn of the planet of the apes is one of the most underrated films of all time. With what they were able to accomplish having your truly feel for CG ape’s
Just to let people know, you can’t release a wild animal inti the wild if it was raised or became too used to humans. You can ether send to an animal sanctuary so they can live the rest of their life in peace or a rehabilitation center to reteache or prepare them to go back into the wild. Depending on what kind of animal we are dealing with and in what condition they were found. In the case of Cesar he lived his entire life in a human home and practically considered himself like a human, it makes sense to send him in a sanctuary.
One of the greatest trilogies of all time. Everything was next level, and it was so captivating. I honestly can't wait for the next installment next year
I’m a bit scared that it’s going to cross into the Fantasy genre a little too much now that they are fully talking but my excitement and intrigue of the plot and the Marvelous first look at the graphics keeps me heavily optimistic. I just don’t want it to become too.. Avatar-esque. If that makes sense. Not that there is anything wrong with those movies. Third favorite blossoming franchise in fact, but a society of apes can easily become to fantastical to imagine in this highly realistic dystopian universe the first three set up. And now that the humans are essentially the “wild” species, I still want it to maintain that realistic feel as much as it possibly can with talking apes who’ve formed an entire empire. I want this to be done right. Especially now that all the original characters are out of the picture and we are now following new characters.
That "NO!" scene still haunts me to this day. This is such a great franchise. Every movie is better than the last. I love all of them. Excited for y'all to react to more.

i honestly expected this movie to suck(probably because i've been a huge fan of the originals since i was a wean), but it was a genuinely great film and the sequels only got better (Harrelson & Serkis deserved Oscars for their performance in War For The Planet Of The Apes).

You can see how heartbroken Caesar was to reject his human dad after he turned his back, its clear how hard it was for him & he continued using his window as his symbol on street signs afte r escaping. I always root for the apes, animals are true to their nature, & we betray ours. Also, Caesar can be infected again, so he also get even smarter when inhaling the 1.13 virus too, plus Caesar is way more intelligent since he had a proper human childhood education from Will.
I did background work on this film and the 3rd one. I'm a lab assistant in this one and was soldier with a crossbow in the 3rd. My character had the craziest career 🎬
When I first saw the trailer for this around the time it was coming out, I didn’t have much knowledge of the older Planet of the Apes films so I was under the impression that the apes would be the villains. I couldn’t have been more wrong, for after the first time I watched it, I was immediately Team Ape. Also, Andy Serkis is my favorite actor of all time (Denzel Washington’s a close second, so if they ever do a film together I will have officially lived and gone to Heaven).
Not only should you guys finish the series. You should go back and watch the Charlton Heston originals. There's so many callbacks to those in these films that you'll recognize. Great review 💯
Love this trilogy and also Tara. I was sad when Aaron and Tara got to the end of the Saw franchise as I looked forward to all of the reactions. She is the best person Greg has brought to the Reject table so far. Well I love Aaron of course and Andrew Flash Gordon……
crazy watching that beginning scene where the humans are catching the apes, and to then see the trailer for the new movie where the apes were catching the humans ... gonna be good
there's an easter egg at the end of the movie showing mark walhlberg's ship taking off on the screen at the airport when the infected pilot is heading to his flight
That's the original crew, Charlton Heston's ship. Not that pos Wahlberg version. Different ship name, astronaut names, and it wouldn't make sense to be Wahlbergs version anyway, because that film transports him to an entirely different planet. That literally wouldn't make any sense to be connected to this film. The producers and directors of these films have also stated many times that they are all prequels to the original Charlton Heston film.
Hope you guys watch the rest of the movies . I mean after this one how can you not 😂 Edit : also I never realised up until now how much bigger Caesar is compared to his Mum . Like he’s almost as tall as a short person
This is one of my favorite trilogies of all time. I dare to say I’ve watched all 3 movies more than 30 times. I almost know the whole script by heart. Idk if that’s something I should be concerned about but oh well
OMG HI TARA AND ANDREW ITS SO GOOD TO SEE YOU Guys again I’m a huge fan by the way I love your movie reactions so much you guys are my favorite UA-camrs ever, I haven’t seen this movie before it’s seems very new to me, the actors did a phenomenal job, I can’t wait to see your videos soon.
When you are familiar to the 1968 film & the 1970's T.V. show, there are too many easter eggs to mention here. Definitely worth looking at one of the You Tube easter egg breakdowns!
There are 4 movies of Planet of the Apes 1. Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011 2. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2014 3. War of the Planet of the Apes 2017 4. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes coming summer in 2024
bro. Big apes reaction is probably one of my favorite moments in film period. Like he has seen god fully come to life in front of his eyes, top 5 trilogy of all time right here, yes, ITS BETTER THAN THE OG ONE, THERE I SAID IT, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT 😤🐐🐐🐐🐐
I think it's movie is a wonderful reboot. The original was a critique on Evolution and education. This one is a great critique on science, hubris, big pharma, all of it. Apropos for the time. If you like this one, then definitely watch the rest. But I would also recommend going back and watching the originals. There are five original Planet of the Apes films. Most people only know of the first one. This movie is similar in plot the Planet of the Apes part 4. Hope you enjoy them!
I remember seeing this in theaters and when the “NO!” scene happened, the entire theater gasped and went dead silent. One of the best theatrical experiences ever.
I grew up with the original Planet of the Apes series (all five films). And so, I was never interested in the new versions, including the Tim Burton one. But it's cool watching a summed-up version with you two reacting!

Make sure you guys watch the next 2 in this trilogy.
Hope you guys watch the rest of the movies . I mean after this one how can you not 😂
Edit : also I never realised up until now how much bigger Caesar is compared to his Mum . Like he’s almost as tall as a short person
PLEASE react to the other 2 movies as well!
I’m 4 months late but I just watched these all for the first time and I’m super excited to watch the reactions
Been a while since I’d seen this series, but man I forgot how amazing the first movie was.
This is one of my favorite trilogies of all time. I dare to say I’ve watched all 3 movies more than 30 times. I almost know the whole script by heart. Idk if that’s something I should be concerned about but oh well
Can't wait to watch these movies with you guys and see your reactions to these great movies
Legitimately one of the best film trilogies ever
OMG HI TARA AND ANDREW ITS SO GOOD TO SEE YOU Guys again I’m a huge fan by the way I love your movie reactions so much you guys are my favorite UA-camrs ever, I haven’t seen this movie before it’s seems very new to me, the actors did a phenomenal job, I can’t wait to see your videos soon.
Thank you, appreciate your kind comment and support 🙏
"Hey Tom, you wanna do another Harry Potter?"
"..NOOOOO!"
😂😂😂
Dreeeeew ! Hahaha,
I cackled when he said "i like how he drew him green, since he becomes the Green Goblin"😅😅😅
When I first heard Caesar say "No" in the theater, I was so shook😂😂
I wonder, has Greg seen the original 1968 Planet of the Apes and the rest of the movies?
When you are familiar to the 1968 film & the 1970's T.V. show, there are too many easter eggs to mention here. Definitely worth looking at one of the You Tube easter egg breakdowns!
A solid modern trilogy! Sincerely not a bad film in the series
I live for Andrew’s nerd spasms!! ❤️
I can’t wait to see this 🍿 thanks for playing this real rejects big fan hugs❤❤❤
I fucking love these movies!! Some great storytelling and characters, bona fide top tier films!!
There are 4 movies of Planet of the Apes
1. Rise of the Planet of the Apes 2011
2. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes 2014
3. War of the Planet of the Apes 2017
4. Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes coming summer in 2024
bro. Big apes reaction is probably one of my favorite moments in film period. Like he has seen god fully come to life in front of his eyes, top 5 trilogy of all time right here, yes, ITS BETTER THAN THE OG ONE, THERE I SAID IT, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT 😤🐐🐐🐐🐐
Even Tara isn’t in a reaction Greg should clip her “ring the bell” it makes me smile everytime
I'm ready to watch you react to these films in order to prepare for the new film!!
It's easily the Greatest Trilogy of all time. Definitely can't wait for chapter 4
I love them.. but easily? Lord of the Rings? haha
The term "planet of the apes" suggests not only bad humans die...😂😅😮
I think it's movie is a wonderful reboot. The original was a critique on Evolution and education. This one is a great critique on science, hubris, big pharma, all of it. Apropos for the time.
If you like this one, then definitely watch the rest. But I would also recommend going back and watching the originals.
There are five original Planet of the Apes films. Most people only know of the first one. This movie is similar in plot the Planet of the Apes part 4.
Hope you enjoy them!
First like let’s go!!! This trilogy of Planet of the Apes movies is one of my favorites. Just gets better and better each movie
When Caesar says “No” I always get chills
One of the best trilogies. Loved all three of these movies. Caesar is such an icon.
hope you guys are coming back for the whole trilogy; genuinely...one of the top 5 trilogies in all cinema!
Need to see both your reactions for the rest of the trilogy. Easily one of my favourite trilogies of all time
These movies were a gem
I remember seeing this in theaters and when the “NO!” scene happened, the entire theater gasped and went dead silent. One of the best theatrical experiences ever.
I grew up with the original Planet of the Apes series (all five films). And so, I was never interested in the new versions, including the Tim Burton one. But it's cool watching a summed-up version with you two reacting!
Absolutely love this trilogy
