Speaking of Christmas movies(though Guardians isn't totally one, it's close enough), you guys HAVE to do Klaus at the holidays this year. It's my all-time favorite Christmas movie. Every year since it came out, my kids and I have hot chocolate and watch it the first day of Winter Break, and I still cry every time.
William Joyce wrote several books with more background on the Guardians of Childhood, including several novels and a few wonderfully illustrated books. Check out his 15 minute Academy Award winning short film, The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore!
One of the fan theories I love for this movie is that Jaimie and his family are the descendents of Jack's little sister, which is why he's subconsciously stuck around their area for so many years even when he didn't have his memories ❤ Also the books are amazing!
I could be wrong but Jack told the wind to take him home and that’s when he started messing with Jamie and his friends. Plus Jamie looks similar to Jacks sister.
My favorite little detail in this movie is the "European division" for the Tooth Fairy bit. In Latin America too the myth is that a Mouse collects them, not a fairy.
My favorite aspect of the movie is just... how they depicted childhood, and how each of the guardians embody a different aspect of childhood that needs to be protected, especially in children, but also in the kid in all of us: - Santa is Wonder: the awe that's felt when we encounter something magical. - The Easter Bunny is Hope: as he said: "New beginnings. New life." Every spring, new life starts up. - The Sandman is Dreams: he wound up being the key. When he was absent, you could see it in the children's faces. Without good dreams, they were just old and tired. When he came back, that was the key to everything else. - The Tooth Fairy is the important memories of childhood: remembering what it was like to be innocent. Also, remembering the important lessons we learned in childhood. - Jack is Fun: the core of childhood, and one of the best antidotes to Fear. Those are their centers, and when Jack figured out his, it gave him the key to what he needed to do to stop Fear.
"There comes a time when we all must grow up. When that time comes, it's important not to forget the lessons of our childhood. Because our childhood is the greatest training ground one will ever have." - Sensei Wu (Lego Ninjago "Child's Play")
I will say that I do like that the portrayal of the Boogeyman isn't the villain just because he embodies Fear, or causes it; He's the villain because of his methods. He's the dark reflection of Jack, but he has the potential of being a Guardian himself, because Fear in and of itself isn't a bad thing. To beware is to *be aware,* and Fear is an important part of being a whole person. It's one of the many reasons this movie's failure is so tragic; Pitch Black could have had something of a redemption arc, to realize just how important a figure he actually is.
Fun Fact: in the books, Pitch Black was the top general for the man in the moon and volunteered to guard the door of darkness but it infected him after years and he became the boogeyman, also his daughter became mother nature once she grew up
My favorite detail about this movie is the ending. When Jamie hugs Jack goodbye, you see this moment where Jack expects Jamie to run through him again. It’s like he believes that he might wake up from this and it was all a dream, because he’s dealt with people not believing in him for 300 years. It’s this small moment of panic before being reminded that it IS all real and this is really happening and everything is going to be okay.
I ended up buying the books that came along with it. The books are so much better! Only thing I didn't read the 4th (there were only 3 out when this movie came out) but they are surprisingly good for children's books. They go so much more into the actual past of Pitch and the way each guardian became a guardian.
The avengers of your childhood, so happy I saw this in theaters when it came out. Still remember laughing and having so much fun watching the energy come right out of the screen
Chris Pine kills it in this movie. The scene when Jamie first sees Jack. Chris Pine's "He sees me. He sees me!" Damn near brings a tear to my every time.
My son questioned the point of the Tooth fairy, so I showed him this. He understood why the tooth fairy needed the teeth but he still won't give away his for no ammount of money. So all his teeth are in a little box. He still doesn't trust in a weird lady taking kids teeth at night. But he does like this movie and we've seen it many times together.
There are a series of books. One for each Guardian by award winning children's author/illustrator William Joyce. For a good movie start with a good book. Notice Santa's tattoos? Naughty and Nice.
We almost got a sequel, I remember being there!! 😭😭 Dreamworks caught wind of the Fan Ships, known as the big four. It made ROTG super popular even years after it came out. Dreamworks made an announcement that if the movie got enough hype online they’d work on a sequel. For some reason it just never took off though.
Honestly I'm seriously impressed with the original creator of this story, William Joyce. He got to do concept art for "Toy Story", and "A Bugs Life". Then wrote and Produced the "Robots" film. He wrote a novel A Day with Wilbur Robinson, which he turned into "Meet The Robinsons" (he got to produce and write the movie as well lol). Then his Gaurdian book series is turned into this film your currently watching, as well as his other book The Leaf Men getting turned into the film "Epic". AND he created Rolie Polie Olie, *both the books and tv show, which was huge for kids back in the day. You can connect his unique art style throughout all of his novels and film projects. Even in "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" where he was the production designer. I guess he's working on an animated version of The Great Gatsby now. It'll be interesting to see how that turns out. This man has an amazing imagination and ability to create stories for kids.
I grew up in the same area as William Joyce; I love to gush about him in reactions, cause he's always been a treat, when I've met him. He does a ton of stuff locally for the arts and children~~~ We actually have a mural for Rolie Polie Olie downtown^.^ Once I was doing a scavenger hunt with my best friend, and one of the items was to take a picture with an Oscar winner with someone wearing a bald cap & on a whim I messaged William Joyce. He was out of town; so I got redirected to like the publicity manager for his animation studio, at the time. She told me the guy that he won the Oscar with was in town and would be more than happy to take the picture, and we were invited to the animation studio. We took the picture, but they stopped and asked if there was anything else we needed help with. It felt like cheating to ask an animation studio for help with drawings or similar things, but we did need as many pictures as we could of hugs~ Next thing we know we're getting pretty much a tour of the whole place as we were taken around to all the staff still there during lunch, who were seemingly really excited about the whole thing! There were drawings from Toy Story, giant promotional things for Guardians, etc~~~ And any time we've run into his publicity manager, even at a comic book shop, she's recognized us, asked us how we were, and offered to join our team for the scavenger hunt if we did it again^.^
What? HE WROTE MEET THE ROBINSONS AND EPIC? Those are some of my favourite underrated films, and Now I learn that there are not only original books for those films, but both were written by the same dude who also wrote the Original Guardians book? DAMN! I just learned his existence but he's now instantly in my top 3 Authors of all time.
@@toriecarter2711goddamn! This man is my childhood right here. I didn't know he made so many more movies. For many years I've been saying my favorite animated movie is either Meet the Robinsons or Rise of the Guardians. Of course ROBOTS!! That movie is unique and looking at it now Meet the Robinsons and Robots do have similar animation styles.
this is probably the first movie that i remember understanding the villain's perspective. pitch has got to be one of the greatest villains lowkey his character design, motive persona EVERYTHING is just chilling to the core
I don't know why I always felt the ending with him being mocked, bullied and disregarded by guardians and kids at the end never felt like a truly good happy-end. I read a little into his origin's story from the books, and it sorta broke my heart and made me dislike guardians for never wanting to befriend him and try to redeem him in all the centuries they knew him.
@@MegaMilenche looking back i feel like his ending was very much a "we're open for a sequel" which they never got. if it was made today we definitely would've gotten pitch redeemed. its really interesting tho that the main hero and the villain are in the same situation and it really just comes down to being accepted by the community and found family trope that makes frost the good guy. also makes me think if the moon chose each guardian based on something they did when they were human and their power is in relation to their core, what was pitch like before he got turned. ALSO ALSO little me always found it weird that pitch's who thing was about not being believed in when the boogyman is the one thing people believe in the most while the others are most cultural/religious based figures. plus how the kids "went through" him at the end even when they could see him and said they believed in him (just weren't afraid) like isnt the whole point of being walked through that they're invisible and not believed in. idk theres so minor plot holes in this
Pitch is the perfect main character for the sequel which would also delve into his past and his children. He's an incredibly important guardian for fear, probably the reason why many people survived through the dark ages. So sad we never got the sequel.
@@MegaMilencheyupp, i wish they’d done something like how we all need fear to survive too but it doesn’t have to be in a “villainous” way. at the end of the day, pitch wanted the same thing as jack, which was to be believed in and seen. so i do wish it didn’t end with him being bullied as you say by the guardians and instead an attempt to see his perspective and making him feel seen/heard
@@lilbrownbear I have to agree that the boogeyman being the one with the less powers felt weird to me. Nearly every culture in the world has a boogeyman, while I think many probably just throw their kids's old teeth when they fall. I'm from morocco, and while I was obviously aware of all of those characters growing up, they're obviously not part of our culture, since we're a muslim country, while the uardians are mostly influenced by european floklore and christian holidays. What we have on the otherhand, are a bunch of different boogeymen lol Not trying to put down the movie obviously, but it's an interesting thing to think about. I would honestly love to see a slightly similar concept that uses different boogeymen stories from around the world
That elf trumpet player is my favorite character. So much personality in just two tiny appearances, and so relatable for any musician! Tactically speaking, Pitch's plan was brilliant. First, take out memory, so the kids can't remember anything before the nightmares took over. Also, the tooth fairy is a daily thing, so the Guardians lose believers every day. Next, go after dreams, so the kids can't imagine anything different. Then hope, so they fall into despair. After those are all gone, Wonder and celebration are easy marks. Guy must've been a general. Jack's center is something I can't really grasp. It feels more complex than just "fun." Both times his essence was shown, it was deeper than that. There was a choice between bad stuff that we know exists in the world and making your own good time. Like, sure, the world is dark and cold. Let's admit it! But we don't have to live there. We can spin it. We can make the dark and cold world we live in funny and awesome, choose to focus on fellowship and happiness. And that choice has a bravery and stubbornness to it. I feel like Jack Frost isn't the Guardian of rich kids in mansions who have never known what it's like to be scared or go without. Jack Frost is the Guardian of hungry kids on the edge with their parents screaming at one another in the next room over, making a game out of what they have on hand to make their world that much brighter. The kids who have to make their toys out of the snowballs. I think Oak and Quinn started to get at it toward the end.
Beautifully said, fully agree. :) I especially love how you called Pitch a general. xD Compare this to Zemo's random plan in Captain America and this guy is so obviously a mastermind.
You're spot on about Pitch being a General! In the books, he was originally a hero who led the armies of the Moon against the Nightmares and DEFEATED them. He also guarded their prison for centuries, while the Nightmares used every tactic to get him to set them free. They eventually used the voice of someone he held dearer than his duty, and even though he knew it was a trap, he opened the prison because he didn't want them trapped with the Nightmares. The Nightmares overtook him, made him go mad, and he turned into Pitch Black, the Nightmare King.
Sandman - Guardian of Dreams Tooth-fairy - Guardian of Memory Easter Bunny - Guardian of Hope Santa Claus - Guardian of Wonder Jack Frost - Guardian of Joy (Fun) The kid in me loves this story. The adult in me loves it too.
My kids loved this movie when it came out. Hell they still do, heard a noise a month ago coming from my sons (21) room and went in, he and his sisters (19 and 15) were all sitting watching it on his TV having a movie night. Honestly melted me.
Awe that’s so cute!!! I’m 26 and still watching these movies with younger siblings whenever I can or if they ask me to come over and “have a movie night” with them. 🥹
the actor game is amazing in this: chris pine is jack frost hugh jackman is e. aster bunny jude law is pitch black alec baldwin is north isla fisher is the toothfairy 👏🏻🙌🏻 awesome!
This is genuinely one of my favorite comfort movies, and it's a real shame that it flew so under the radar when it came out. It's fun, it's got good messages, great humor, and the animation is beautiful. Happy that you guys enjoyed it!
I agree so much with Oak. I'm 38 years old and this is one of my favorite movies. I chuckled when Mason commented on the rewatch-ability because this is one of my comfort films. When feeling low and need to believe in the good in the world, this is what I put on.
I love the fan theories about the centers. Especially one for Pitch Black being a guardian for fear. Which sounds bad but to a child having some fears is good, makes them more cautious about running in the street, away from strangers, away from fire and whatever else that might hurt them. Given he was a well loved General in his past before he was corrupted, it would've been nice to see him turn to good in a sequel/prequel about his life in the books. But sadly that never happened.
One of the fan-favorite theories is that Jamie is a descendant of Jack’s sister. Similar coloring and the movie makes an effort to have both Jamie & Jack’s sister say the same line “Jack, I’m scared.” I don’t think it’s ever been confirmed but it’s a fun little headcanon lol
Rise of the Guardians is one of my favorite stand alone animations. I heard some people complain its not exactly like the books, but I never read the books and I felt this was a beautiful animation on its own. The graphics are stunning, the music moves me to tears, and the lessons and story I adore. I like how Santa protects childhood wonder, Tooth Fairy memories, Easter Bunny hope, Sandman dreams, and Jack Frost is meant to protect fun. All pure parts of childhood.
Love this movie so much, the perfect balance of heartwarming and epic. The scene when Jack realizes that someone can finally see him chokes me up every time. After being alone for 300 years, its hard to comprehend the emotions of that moment.
I took my daughter to theaters to watch when it first came out. We both loved it then and still love it today. Wonderful story visually stunning great experience.
I grew up with this film!! It'll always have a place in my heart. and I think I'll always have a little bit of a crush on the infamous childhood heartthrob, Jack Frost 😂
@@lilbrownbear They could've just adapted the books faithfully and that's that. There was so much lore about all the characters and their origins. Pitch himself is a very tragic character, so much so that the ending of this movie is not a good outcome, but a sad one.
@@MegaMilenche i think the sentiment is expressed well enough (without having read the original) books are famously hard to follow up in movie format. honestly tho if they make a tv series I wouldn't mind but then the animation wont live up to it and frankly the way animated movies are being written recently i dont have much faith
Am i the only one who still giggles that the Easter Bunny is played by an Australian actor when Australia doesn't even have an Easter Bunny because of how invasive bunnies are to Australia?
There's a theory out there that Jamie is probably a descendant of Jack's sister because at the beginning of the movie Jack tells the wind to take him home, which happen to be Jamie's town. And Jack mentions that he's helped Jamie have fun in many occasions. He might not remember why but something always take him back to that place.
what!? I literally searched this up last night and thought that anything I think about lately, someone reacts to it. I really speculated whether anyone will react to this after seeing it again after a long time, and here you are! Incredible timing? Mere coincidence? Pure chance? Or a product of causation?
I remember when my parents told me that Santa, the Easter bunny and the tooth fairy weren’t real, my friends were finding out and they didn’t want me to hear to from them and I cried. This movie was always special to me bc even as an adult I try to keep that magic alive in my life
For years, this movie has been on my Top 5 Favorite Movies. I was OBSESSED with this movie when I was a kid. I literally printed out pictures of Jack Frost to put it up on my closet 😭 The nostalgia, the story, the animation, and the voice-acting!!!! A gem that more people should appreciate. This will always be my comfort movies.
If you didn't noticed Jack Frost's staff, it's the staff/stick he used too save his sister. Which is why he need it, it became a part of him because of that. And i thik that is an amazing detail.
This was such an underrated film. I think that there were two major problems with the film as a whole. 1 being that the marketing wasn’t too big especially in comparison to movies during that time period such as Hotel Transylvania, Brave, and Diary of a Wimpy Kid. 2. The movie was about Jack Frost. Who isn’t a main stay for children & casual audiences as a whole. In fact I think that older teens & parents would’ve enjoyed this movie more than the younger children this movie was geared towards. This is definitely a favorite of mine, in recent years I had my wife watch this too just to see her reaction, and she loved it.
I remember there was an animated movie called _Epic_ that came out a year after this that also didn’t have very good marketing, but it was a cool film nonetheless
Honestly, this is THE most underrated film DreamWorks ever made! The fact that they never made at least one sequal or any holiday shorts (like seriously, you have like four holiday characters in your movie, just PICK ONE!) is absolutely criminal! LOVE Rise of the Guardians!
My favorite scene is when Jamie hugs Jack in the end. Jack looks so shocked. It is the first time in 300 years that a child can touch him, which catches him totally off guard. ^_^
I freaking LOVE this movie. It’s a shame it didn’t do better in theaters, I would’ve killed for a sequel. The animation is amazing, the story is fun and unique, the characters are all well developed and have their own goals. I love it.
The Easter bunny's warren is actually an oasis deep under the surface of Australia that is said to be the birthplace of spring which is funny because in Australia easter is in Autumn.
I personally consider this to be one of the best Dreamworks movies. My only complaint would really be that they could have given Pitch more development (explore the idea and effects of fear), but, beyond that, the movie is fantastic.
Yes! I'd love to see Pitch given the same kind of importance that Fear has in Inside Out: vital in moderation to keep kids safe, but harmful in excess when it prevents them from taking opportunities and chances that could make them stronger, happier, etc.
@@iagreewithyou3478 he was played exceptionally well by Jude Law (I’ve heard people complain about his casting and I don’t understand why) and his animations were awesome
I feel like the guardians cores are also ways to fight fear (fear being pitch black's core), but also that fear can get in the way of. Fun, wonder/curiosity, hope, dreams, positive memories...
I hated how some of the critics recieved this, I don't know any kid that didn't love it and in my opinion they are the ones that have the final say. I'd love to see you guys review Finding Nemo
It's been 12 years, and I'm still salty that Pixar's BRAVE won an award over this. This movie shaped so much of my teenage years and I have all of the books the film was based off of
i will forever be SO UPSET this movie didn’t get a franchise like httyd or kung fu panda. the potential was insane and i loved the concept/characters so much :( (i know there’s a book series, but i also know it’s Very different from the movie
Sandman (Sandy) is actually the oldest and first ever Guardian, also the most powerful among the bunch, which is probably why Pitch is afraid of him and targeted him. Also, many people call it fan theory, but I believe that it's an easter egg that Jamie is the descendant of Jack's little sister, considering that he resembles her, he lives in the same town that she once lived in, and Jack was drawn to him, he could've been drawn to any one of the other kids, but he was drawn to Jamie. Rise of the Guardians was a part of my childhood growing up, so, no matter what show I watch as an adult, all the shows I've watched as a child will always be better than those.
This movie in story is an Easter movie however as it came out in November it can also be a Thanksgiving movie. There is a book series this film is based on and in it Pitch's backstory is tragic and makes since why he hates the Man in the Moon. Sandman is the one Pitch fears the most, which when you think about it dreams are powerful right next to Bunnymund who's center is hope.
I love this movie. It’s one of my go to Christmas movies. Fun fact: there’s a theory that Jamie is a descendant of Jack Frost’s sister. Which I think is a really cool and full circle theory.
Before I watch this vid, just want to say I'm SO EXCITED that you guys are reacting to this film! It's such an underrated and beautiful film, in my opinion, and is a cult classic of the 2010s. They're based on the children's books by William Joyce and are directed by the same guy who did Into/Across The Spiderverse. There's a fan theory that Jamie is related to Jack Frost as a descendant of his sister, and another of Jack Frost being a literal Winter Sprite or the actual spirit of Winter and therefore doesn't need to be "believed in" in order for him to have powers. This would make him the 2nd most powerful Guardian behind Sandman for the same reasons as he's the embodiment of positive dreams, which is another fan theory! 😁⏳️❄️
This movie! Even if it hadn’t been as lovely as it was, I’d probably have a soft spot for it, if only because it’s from the mind/world of William Joyce. As a kid, his picture book, SANTA CALLS, was one of mine and my little brothers’ favorites - he has a very steampunk vibe to his work and it’s so insanely creative. As for this film, it’s from a world he designed in a series of novels (that he illustrates, of course), and several of the characters draw inspiration from his daughter who passed away from a brain tumor right before this films release, as well as his late wife who passed in 2012 from ALS. I always found that part of the joy of this film and all other works from William Joyce is that he gives equal parts joy and loss - because even those we lose are always a part of us in some way.
I'm sad this movie never got a sequel/prequel. There is SO much backstory for all of the characters. A lot of their back stories actually predate earth/humanity if I remember right. Bunny is the last of an ancient alien species, and he shaped the earth into the circular shape it is now. Sandy was a star pilot, aka a shooting star, also I believe to be the last of his race. The man in the moon was a prince of a now dead race that was at war with the nightmares. The Moon was literally his Cradle. Jack is the reincarnation of the Man in the Moon's guardian (Nightlight) whom died saving him. Pitch was a general and protector of the cage that the nightmares where trapped in. They tricked him into entering/opening the cage by imitating his daughters (who becomes Mother Nature) cries for help, overwhelming and consuming him. That's just the bits I can remember.
One of my favorite holiday movies! It doesn’t get old. I wish they made another! I’m glad you guys love it so much because this movie means a lot to me
I brought my son to see this at the movies when it came out... It's one of my all-time favorites! I can't believe it hasn't done better over time than it has most people don't even know about it, a hidden gem a true classic I think... I can't wait to have grandkids someday and watch this with them😊
I don't even celebrate any of the holidays or ever believed the things in the movie because I'm from a different culture, but this movie is my childhood movie and i love it.
Not only is the casting, animation, cinematography, editing and all amazing, but the score for this movie is just incredible! Alexandre Desplat's music is so beautiful, exciting, moving, and uncanny… it perfectly matches what's on the screen!
Idk if it is confirmed but I think there's a headcanon that Jamie is one of Jack's descendants! He looks and sounds very similar to his sister, and lives pretty close to Jack's lake.
This movie is based on a book series called "Guardians of Childhood" written by William Joyce. They are stories that he told his children that, hopefully one day, I will read. I love this movie, ironically, more than my grandchildren did. 😂 The story is awesome, animation is beautiful, comedy is top knotch, it's loaded with lessons, and I loved the choice of voice actors! Some others I think you all would enjoy are 2013's "Epic" (also, loosely based on a William Joyce book), and "The Croods." A real "sleeper" would be 2015's "Strange Magic." It does not fit the "norm." 😊 As always, love your reactions. I'm so glad you chose this one! ❤
This came up as a recommended video and I had to came to say that this is one of my favorite animated movies of all time. It has such a beautiful message and I HATE with all my heart that it was released the same weekend as breaking dawn (from twilight series) because it deserved to do so much better. I'll never stop wishing for a sequel (considering that it's apparently based on books), even though it's highly impossible.
What a surprise this was. A very good story with fantastic animation. What was your reaction? What did we miss?

It’s like he believes that he might wake up from this and it was all a dream, because he’s dealt with people not believing in him for 300 years. It’s this small moment of panic before being reminded that it IS all real and this is really happening and everything is going to be okay.
HIGHLY underrated gem of a movie! So happy to see you guys give this a watch.
The Rise of Guardians walked so the Avengers could run😂
Classic
@@Old_Soul_I know this is a joke but it’s sadly a poor one :(
What
Chris Pine kills it in this movie. The scene when Jamie first sees Jack. Chris Pine's "He sees me. He sees me!" Damn near brings a tear to my every time.
It got me tears in my eyes too a few times
My son questioned the point of the Tooth fairy, so I showed him this. He understood why the tooth fairy needed the teeth but he still won't give away his for no ammount of money. So all his teeth are in a little box. He still doesn't trust in a weird lady taking kids teeth at night. But he does like this movie and we've seen it many times together.
That is hilariously adorable 😂
He sounds like a smart kid, your son
When I was little I imagined the tooth fairy making all the teeth into dough with a rolling pin.
Can't blame him lol 😂
Awwww that's so cute ❤
This movie is so fucking good! It's a travesty that it hasn't gotten a sequel.
There are a series of books. One for each Guardian by award winning children's author/illustrator William Joyce. For a good movie start with a good book.
Notice Santa's tattoos? Naughty and Nice.
Sadly that's because it was an utter disaster. They lost well over 100 million on it.
Oh god! I hope not. Sequels rarely live up to the expectations. Better to leave well enough alone
@@cniknik9863
Mr Joyce has already written the books. They will be consistanty good.
If you don't know him , please check him put.
We almost got a sequel, I remember being there!! 😭😭
Dreamworks caught wind of the Fan Ships, known as the big four.
This man has an amazing imagination and ability to create stories for kids.
wow, what a resume!
damn i loved rolie polie olie and meet the Robinsons. mans is talented.
I grew up in the same area as William Joyce; I love to gush about him in reactions, cause he's always been a treat, when I've met him. He does a ton of stuff locally for the arts and children~~~ We actually have a mural for Rolie Polie Olie downtown^.^
Once I was doing a scavenger hunt with my best friend, and one of the items was to take a picture with an Oscar winner with someone wearing a bald cap & on a whim I messaged William Joyce.
I love the naughty and nice sleeves on Santa's arms!
funny😭 just love how they turned santa with this film
this is probably the first movie that i remember understanding the villain's perspective. pitch has got to be one of the greatest villains lowkey his character design, motive persona EVERYTHING is just chilling to the core
What we have on the otherhand, are a bunch of different boogeymen lol
Not trying to put down the movie obviously, but it's an interesting thing to think about.
"Giggle at the ghosties" -Pinkie Pie
Love the detail that when Tooth gave Pitch a quarter, he owed her a tooth... and that's exactly what she got.
Sandman - Guardian of Dreams
Tooth-fairy - Guardian of Memory
Easter Bunny - Guardian of Hope
Santa Claus - Guardian of Wonder
Jack Frost - Guardian of Joy (Fun)
The kid in me loves this story. The adult in me loves it too.
My kids loved this movie when it came out. Hell they still do, heard a noise a month ago coming from my sons (21) room and went in, he and his sisters (19 and 15) were all sitting watching it on his TV having a movie night.
Honestly melted me.
Awwww that's so sweet and wholesome!!
Awe that’s so cute!!! I’m 26 and still watching these movies with younger siblings whenever I can or if they ask me to come over and “have a movie night” with them. 🥹
the actor game is amazing in this:
chris pine is jack frost
hugh jackman is e. aster bunny
jude law is pitch black
alec baldwin is north
isla fisher is the toothfairy
👏🏻🙌🏻 awesome!
Chris Pine is super underrated. His voice is amazing .. 😅
10:16 "I'm a bunny. The _Easter Bunny._ People believe in me." is such an unironically hard line.
This is genuinely one of my favorite comfort movies, and it's a real shame that it flew so under the radar when it came out. It's fun, it's got good messages, great humor, and the animation is beautiful. Happy that you guys enjoyed it!
_Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole_ came out a couple years earlier and was also very underrated imo
@@flanagamer Also true! And led to some unfortunate title confusion... oops.
I agree so much with Oak. I'm 38 years old and this is one of my favorite movies. I chuckled when Mason commented on the rewatch-ability because this is one of my comfort films. When feeling low and need to believe in the good in the world, this is what I put on.

This is a highly underrated movie that does not get the recognition it deserves. I am still wanting a sequel.
right😍
I love the fan theories about the centers.
One theory I heard was that Pitch's center was Courage, but when the nightmares corrupted him it became fear.
@@thunder_wolf23 Yes he definitely could be courage as well, considering his past. My hope for a sequel is still alive and well.
My vote is for Mason Quinn being the Guardians Santa for Halloween 🤣
Yesssss
The OAK could totally do Sandy
For Christmas too!
I can totally see it!
Jack Skelington as the Guardian of Halloween
The voice actors in this movie are TOP TIER
Rise of the Guardians is one of my favorite stand alone animations. I heard some people complain its not exactly like the books, but I never read the books and I felt this was a beautiful animation on its own. The graphics are stunning, the music moves me to tears, and the lessons and story I adore. I like how Santa protects childhood wonder, Tooth Fairy memories, Easter Bunny hope, Sandman dreams, and Jack Frost is meant to protect fun. All pure parts of childhood.
Bro, this was one of my favorite animated movies growing up, i was addicted to everything about it and the Jack Frost story LOL
I'm 23 now and I still am lol
Love this movie so much, the perfect balance of heartwarming and epic.
The scene when Jack realizes that someone can finally see him chokes me up every time. After being alone for 300 years, its hard to comprehend the emotions of that moment.
I took my daughter to theaters to watch when it first came out. We both loved it then and still love it today. Wonderful story visually stunning great experience.
right😍
I grew up with this film!! It'll always have a place in my heart. and I think I'll always have a little bit of a crush on the infamous childhood heartthrob, Jack Frost 😂
yup 😍
One of my absolute favorites. Jack's story, and being unseen to the moment of being seen. Ugh, tears everytime.
Yes! This movie is so underrated! The song Calling The Guardians when each guardian is summoned is so good.
This movie deserved better. Underrated gem that deserved trilogy. I'm glad you guys are reacting to it.
im kinda glad they couldn't ruin it trying to turn it into a franchise and milking it to crap
This movie is MAGIC! I love it so much and I've watched so many times over the years and I'm still not over it, thank you for the reaction!

Really unfortunate Dreamworks wasn't able to market this properly. Very deserving of a sequel.
what!? I literally searched this up last night and thought that anything I think about lately, someone reacts to it. I really speculated whether anyone will react to this after seeing it again after a long time, and here you are! Incredible timing? Mere coincidence? Pure chance? Or a product of causation?

Such an underrated movie. I love this movie so much. The story the Animation it's so beautiful

It's Jude Law as Pitch Black. They have great actors for this movie and it's so underrated
I love it.
The Easter bunny's warren is actually an oasis deep under the surface of Australia that is said to be the birthplace of spring which is funny because in Australia easter is in Autumn.
love😍
I personally consider this to be one of the best Dreamworks movies. My only complaint would really be that they could have given Pitch more development (explore the idea and effects of fear), but, beyond that, the movie is fantastic.
Yes! I'd love to see Pitch given the same kind of importance that Fear has in Inside Out: vital in moderation to keep kids safe, but harmful in excess when it prevents them from taking opportunities and chances that could make them stronger, happier, etc.
You tell me, in the books the nightmares are pirates from space.
Pitch is perfect 😳😅
@@iagreewithyou3478 he was played exceptionally well by Jude Law (I’ve heard people complain about his casting and I don’t understand why) and his animations were awesome
This has been my favourite movie for over 10 years now! It's the ultimate comfort movie!
I'd love to see you guys review

Anyone a kid at heart can watch this all over again ♥️
Can’t believe this this is still underrated
I truly love this movie! Because I feel like it's underlying message is how precious childhood an innocents really is for a child.
Finally some reactors who appreciate this movie as much as I do. Sandy is my hero!
My favorite detail is how Jack does not fly in the movie but the wind just takes him

one of my favorite movies EVER. I'm so happy you guys watched it!
right 😍
This is one of my favourite movies. It was so well done. I've watched it so many times and still get chills in certain scenes.
You guys are my favorite reaction channel! The genuine attention you pay to each movie is truly refreshing
I always found that part of the joy of this film and all other works from William Joyce is that he gives equal parts joy and loss - because even those we lose are always a part of us in some way.
right😍 and love what they did with santa😭 tatoos are funny
One of my favourites... It's super underrated
Glad you guys are checking it out❤
yes😍
This movie has such a big cast with Hugh Jackman as Bunny, Chris Pine as Jack, Alec Baldwin as Nick and Jude Law as Pitch.
YESSSSSS!! Literally one of my favorite movies of all time
right😍
I'm sad this movie never got a sequel/prequel.
Love how they did this movie. It’s great for the kids and also enjoyable for the parents watching along.
One of my favorite holiday movies! It doesn’t get old. I wish they made another! I’m glad you guys love it so much because this movie means a lot to me
I believe there are books If I'm not mistaken
I brought my son to see this at the movies when it came out... It's one of my all-time favorites! I can't believe it hasn't done better over time than it has most people don't even know about it, a hidden gem a true classic I think... I can't wait to have grandkids someday and watch this with them😊
Bunny “ Easter was about new beginning, Easter was about hope , and now it’s gone”
actually sick quote❤
I don't even celebrate any of the holidays or ever believed the things in the movie because I'm from a different culture, but this movie is my childhood movie and i love it.
Hugh Jackman is the Easter Bunny! Alec Baldwin is Santa. When I first heard Pitch Black I thought it was Tom Hiddleson but it is actually Jude Law.
I'm always surprised more people don't talk about this movie! My favorite Santa ever!

Those tiny elves were everything the minions wanted to be. And that's gotta be my favorite version of Santa.
This is one of my favorite, UNDERRATED, movies out there
Not only is the casting, animation, cinematography, editing and all amazing, but the score for this movie is just incredible! Alexandre Desplat's music is so beautiful, exciting, moving, and uncanny… it perfectly matches what's on the screen!
I love watching reactors give guesses for the voice actors! ❤
I love how much old-school Aussie slang Jackman squeezed into the dialogue.😆
Idk if it is confirmed but I think there's a headcanon that Jamie is one of Jack's descendants! He looks and sounds very similar to his sister, and lives pretty close to Jack's lake.
One of my favourite moments is when North's sleigh is introduced, and Jack Frost concedes to "One ride." "Everyone loves the sleigh!"
Some others I think you all would enjoy are 2013's "Epic" (also, loosely based on a William Joyce book), and "The Croods."
A real "sleeper" would be 2015's "Strange Magic." It does not fit the "norm." 😊
As always, love your reactions.
