    Are we able to bring the LUTs in camera for preview?

  • @brown2840
    @brown2840 3 роки тому

    The One LUT blows out highlights and is too crunchy. I don't get the same results using gen 5 and this LUT. Way to crunchy. Not sure what other adjustments are being made in this footage?

    Does this lut work with the bmpcc og and the blackmagic production camera 4k??

    Why not using color space transform? You define the right color spaces and you apply tone mapping.:) best way to control your conversions. Luts are most static remapping. CST is a dynamic function

    • @ErikWerlin
      @ErikWerlin  4 роки тому

      Honestly, I'm not all that familiar with color space transform tools. I've tried to learn it but haven't found any good resources for Davinci resolve for the bmpcc. If you have anything you recommend I would love to learn more about that aspect of color.

    This does what buttery LUT been doing for like a year... it’s created by eye to match ARRI Alexa, which is ok but far from perfect. EMOTIVE COLOR has a LUT that match the ARRI ALEXA look but they made the LUT based on hours of test footage and data analysis ! So it’s very accurate and a much better base. It’s called P4Ka and they have a version for GH5 too

    • @ErikWerlin

      Thanks for the info. I just learned about the buttery LUT. I made my video about this lut simply because I had been testing it out for the creator. To each their own. I am buy no means an expert not do I claim to be one.

      Erik Werlin I’m not saying that because that’s what works the best for me... i’m saying that because you’re using the least accurate of the Alexa conversions out there. Even in the creators demo, we can clearly see how innaccurate the conversion is. All hues are off, and also saturation. It only gives a kinda Alexa feel (but tinting all the image). Maybe you’d be interested to try out Emotive Color P4Kalex. This isn’t a simple LUT... this is absolutely the most accurate Alexa conversion ever created. Works flawlessly with absolutely no artifacts. Trust me man, you NEED to try it. Thank me later! ;)

    My question would only be, do you have a workflow through premiere at all, or you do all your editing in DaVinci

    • @ErikWerlin
      @ErikWerlin  4 роки тому +2

      I've been working a lot more in davinci but I do still edit in premiere from time to time. When I do use premiere for editing I'll then bring the edit into resolve for color grading since davinci is way better for color.

      Erik Werlin ok morning that makes sense, traditionally I’m a music video director but trying to crossover into more pro work and I’m currently on a GH4 and not sure if it makes sense to go BMPCC or go for a Sony in terms of image quality. I appreciate you getting back to me.

    • @ErikWerlin
      @ErikWerlin  4 роки тому

      It depends on which Sony camera and which blackmagic camera you are looking at. Also will you only be shooting video or do you want some photo ability too?

    • @chatmandidit9866
      @chatmandidit9866 4 роки тому +1

      Erik Werlin when I’m asked that, I saw yeah, but it’s not the necessity but I do take photos, but my GH4 is a beast and I honestly think adding a viltrox will help more than I think. I’m literally looking for a reason no to buy the bmpcc 4K but HONESTLY, I say I wanna tell stories and this camera will have me doing just that I believe and will help me separate more than a Sony and the price point is more attractive for buying a monitor, cage a battery sad and plate for my ronin s, won’t run me over my budget I believe.

    Why didn't you click on highlight recovery so we could see how it impacts this lut?

    • @ErikWerlin
      @ErikWerlin  4 роки тому +1

      Simply because I wanted to show how it affected the footage with the minimum amount of pre work. It also depends on where and how you apply the lut.
      Sorry if you wanted to see how highlight recovery would affect the image. I would be happy to make a follow up video on that if you would like.

      @@ErikWerlin yes please, that would be fantastic, especially on those shots you used which were beautiful. I'm interested in this lut for the Pocket 6k. Which is another question: in his website it only advertises it for the Pocket 4k. Are you sure the same lut will work for the 6k? They have different sensors with different dynamic range. I know Juan Melara's PowerGrade has one for each camera

    • @ErikWerlin
      @ErikWerlin  4 роки тому +1

      I'll make a follow up video in the near future then! As for the 6k I'm honestly not sure as I only have the 4k. I have the lut because I was helping the creator test it out. Im sure if you email him and ask he can answer your question and he might have one for the 6k in development but I'm not sure.

      I completely agree that it's more about the story then it is about the camera. I do think the look and feel of the picture is important too. I like the overall look of the arri Alexa more than the blackmagic footage overall. Knowing it's possible to make the BM footage look it's best it what I want to do.
