So generous with your pro tips ;) I love the way you master the contrast, from exposure to the final touch. A big thank you for sharing the footage !!! You always increase the level, it's a pleasure to see you at work. Take care
Unless I missed it, you didn’t mention what your colour management settings were… So it’s going to be extremely difficult for anybody to follow along because their results will be different .
in 17 I use "DaVinci color managed" with "DaVinci wide gamut". sometimes ill do a cineonlog color transform to apply certain LUTS I like, though usually im going from scratch with an x rite
Thank you so much for this! What do you think about Sony a7 IV and SLOG? Torn between the Blackmagic 6K and the a7IV, but I really don't know how SLOG stacks up to BRAW. If it is worth to loose the convenience of the Sony for BRAW.
im starting with davinci after purchase my first BMPCC4k a week ago, will this Gen 5 Color Science be coming soon to the updates of davinci? other question, do you install the beta version 6.3 as another program along the current installation of resolve studio 6.2? i would like to try this but dont want to mess up my current davinci installation, thanks for the video.
it will install over whatever version you have, with resolve you don't need to uninstall them, just keep installing latest ones, they will overwrite previous version. All your files and projects gonna be safe
My footage is Gen 4 and the box where you can change it is greyed out. So I can't change it to Gen 5. What am I doing wrong? I updated the software and its still not working.
Thanks for the video. I’m curious as to why you’re adding contrast (a look) in your initial Luma correction. If you do this, you’re in danger (possibly) of not fully opening out the full dynamic range of the clip. In fact Blackmangic even address this in their basic colour tutorial with Resolve 15 (on their website). It’s just an observation but it makes sense to get a properly exposed and saturated image first, before applying any look. Thanks again 🙂
Aram K yes indeed it’s about the final result, and I agree. But my point is, by adding contrast (and maybe not in your case) at the start of the pipeline can inhibit the dynamic range I.e not opening the image out to its full potential affecting the grade. It’s not a criticism, just an observation. Keep well.
It depends. Sometimes I do things in a certain way when tutorial like this one doesn’t really have a specific topic. Essentially working in the least destructive way is a good practice
BIG QUESTION! Does the Bmpcc4K shoot in 12bit or 10bit? I am confused and cant find an answer... I know it has 13stops of dynamic range and can shoot in 4K BRAW but whats the Bit's of that? Could someone explain this for me and or give me an example? Thanks in advance! GREAT VIDEO BTW!
great tut. one question I own a full studio version.but after I downloaded the update version. it now shows I have to buy , when I use the noise reduction plugin
Great content and thanks for sharing the knowledge @Aram K , I know I do know little to start from, but I always learn something new watching your videos, so thanks for that!
I love it. Such a great tutorial. I ended up replacing my studio version of resolve so I can try this gen 5. It's pretty cool. However, I am confused how you were still able to use the film grain when you have to use the public beta version of resolve. Don't you lose the features of Studio like I did when you install the public beta?
thx for tutorial! im on updating now) can you make tut for right steps of noice reduction? i use 2 nodes: first node for temporal(for luma) and a second node for spartail(chroma)
Hej, najszybciej chyba jak w pierwszym klipie zaznaczysz 5 a potem kolorując następny klikniesz środkowym klawiszem myszy. A na stałe to w opcjach projektu sobie musisz ustawić. Camera Raw > Decode using project > color science i zaznaczasz gen 5.

blackmagic is more professional camera, with sony its easier to do solo work, especially documentary type of stuff
Great stuff as always Aram! looking forward to the next one!

For sure. Gen 5 is an incredible step forward for BM
