Bushcraft: Eagle Products Kettle Alternative, New Silky Outback Gomboy Saw, Swagman Underquilt
Вставка
- Опубліковано 2 чер 2021
- Hi friends,
As you know, the eagle products kettle is hard to obtain, so coming across this Fire Maple kettle was quite a find.
Of course, I have the eagle products kettle, and love it, but this fire maple kettle has some great merits as well and I'm glad to have it.
It holds 1 Litre, this 18 gauge stainless steel.
Comparison:
Well, my Eagle Products kettle is .7 litre, costs $56us+Tax & Delivery fees compared to $32us+Tax & Free Delivery with Amazon prime for the Fire Maple, the EP kettle is elusive and almost entirely sold out worldwide except for an occasional in stock miracle. The EP kettle is well sort after. This is a small thing but makes a big difference, the EP's lid always falls off when you're pouring the last bits, FM solved that with an extension on the handle they put (which I appreciate very much).
I'm sure the FM will be a great alternative to persons seeking out the EP. Let me know your thoughts
The Silky Gomboy Curve Professional 240mm Outback Edition blows it out of the water! What a magnificent saw!
I always love to silky saw, yet found them to be rather fragile, not the case with these Special edition models, you can saw with full confidence.
They cut through wood with little effort. I felt as if I could saw all day and not received too much fatigue. They glide through wood as if through paper.
I also purchased the Big Boy and the Pocket Boy 170 m, and those will be featured in my upcoming video next week.
Till then, I hope that I could bring you guys a couple of great products to use on your wilderness adventures.
Thanks for watching!

Hello friends,
So I've put some of my thoughts on the products in the description, but if you have any further questions feel free to ask. Cheers
Hello mate, I'm presently in the north eastern United States. Back in England outdoor camping is restrictive, and then in Scotland there's hardly any trees. America and Canada are great places for outdoor adventure.
I understand the the contrast between city Life and Wilderness life, for I experience it bi-monthly. I'm glad you're enjoying everything and I'm happy I can bring the gift of the wilderness vicariously to others. Cheers mate! PS message me on Instagram for full conversations
Exactly, looking forward to chatting with you mate
@@TheLoreofBushcraft North Wales ? As for " in Scotland there's hardly any trees " 😆 😅 😂 🤣
Hello mate, I’m from the UK but the footage is from the state’s where I live now.
Good video! What was the insulated poncho you were wearing?
Damn you're good with what you do. Learned a lot watching this video.
That's great to hear. Thank you!
This is a proof , that the ,, one tool option camp knife " it's an illusion !! Thanks for sharing this ! 👏👏👏🖒🖒🖒🍻
Hi, well if I had to choose only one tool to bring with me it would be an ax or a hatchet. It can perform all the deities of a knife and a saw, yet it only takes more effort. Matter of fact I might do a video of just using my hatchet.
You are a 19th century man for sure. Thanks
You bet
Great stuff brother!
Digging the new area as well. Thanks for the video
Thanks! Yes indeed, it's quite an area. Stay tuned for more exploration in that vicinity in the next video. It's just absolutely beautiful there ⛰️🌱🌿. Thank for saying hello! ☺️
thank you for sharing your skills
even in the rain, investing time in the sticks is still MUCH better than looking out a window
Well said!
I like your format. Very calming, informative, aesthetic. I also see a lot of gear I have already, being used in ways I've only considered but not tried yet. Thanks.
Hi, yes I want everyone to experience my trips the way I do, like a window looking through into my world. Talking is only an interruption of the peace and tranquility of the Woods.
Well, that's great to hear and it's what The Lore of Bushcraft is all about, sharing.
I'm glad you enjoyed it and as you and I both know, great kit speaks for itself. Cheers mate
Very nice Sir, I'm a fan. Relaxing and therapeutic at the same time. Thanks 👍🏾
Thanks really nice of you to say. Thanks mate! 💪
Enjoyed your video very much, thanks for sharing.
Thank you William! Cheers
Another great and calming video. Thanks. Ahh the sounds of rain- a rarity down here in southern California.
I thought I replied. Thank you Miles! 💪
Nice video. Thank you for sharing!
Appreciate it! Thank you for joining me. I'll see you on the next adventure. Cheers
Love your videos! Yes, finding my Eagle .7L kettle was a real PITA but it was worth it. Be well and please, keep em coming!
That's great to hear, thay are hard to get hold of. I will certainly keep them coming. Cheers
I love your videos 👌🏼 a big hello from Sydney Australia!.
Hello..... Down under 🇦🇺💪I glad I could bring my experience to you mate, thank you for saying hello. -Cheers
Great video. You always have top notch filming.
I'm glad that you said that because I was apprehensive filming with my phone since my camera is on repair. But, the phone camera is supposed to be the best for phone on the market, it's the Samsung Galaxy s20. 🎞️📸📽️
Very impressive video making. Entertaining and educational. I enjoyed it and will be watching more now that I've discovered your channel. Thank you for sharing your adventure with us.
Hello KirbyCreek,
You know I really appreciate your comment, because I was so apprehensive about filming with my phone since my camera was on the mend.
I'm glad the video was helpful as well.
Thanks for joining me on my channel. I will look forward to further to seeing you here.

Thanks for the great video buddy.
Awesome, glad you enjoyed it Daniel! 🤸🤸🤸
Looks like some great new gear, very nice video my friend 🤠
Yup, companies have been busy improving things whilst in quarantine. Production of things seem to be ramping up as well. I'm enthusiastic. Let's look forward to a wonderful summer. I'm glad you'll be along with me, Herb. Cheers
Glad I waited for the Eagle .7L to come in stock at my dealer. It was definitely worth the wait!
Awesome Ottis, glad to hear! 🍻
I like the coffee you prepared mate! Cheers
Right on! ☕
What a great adventure!
Thank you very much!
Another great video good sir 😉👍🏼
Such a superb location. Looks like the UK with all that rain 😁
I like the idea of bringing coffee in the kuksa using a branch 🤠☕️
Thanks Bourne, a great location indeed! I found it on a scout. Yes, it does remind me very much of the UK indeed.
I've used the mortar and pestle method off and on for years now, and just found out recently that my mate Chris from Carolina Chris Outdoors made a proper one sometime ago. Check out his video ua-cam.com/video/KU08XFKPvoo/v-deo.html
@@TheLoreofBushcraft T’was a good find from that scout about!
I’ll have a look at his channel, thanks for sharing and chatting 😉👍🏼

Thank you
You got it! 👍
I just found out about the outback saws yesterday and now I gotta have one lol.
I'm blown away by them! It took me 2 months to get mine because they were on Pre-Order and not readily available. I purchased all three and I'm very happy with them all. I'll feature the other two in the next video segments. Cheers
What a class act!
Brilliant
I love your kind of woods. Rocks, flowing water (besides the rain 😁), many hard wood trees, some grass, ... wow! (I know, I said this before 😉)
... and grinding the coffee beans with a stick - this is a great idea - I may try this the next time by myself. 👍🙂
How was the night in the hammock?
Personally, I prefere sleeping in a hammock over sleeping on the ground. 💤
Hello Carsten, yes it's quite a lovely place. Personally, I love the rain, "especially if I'm having hammock camping," because I can lay back, read, watch a movie and just enjoy the stillness of the moment. Rainy days always mean relaxing and coziness with a nice cup of tea and a book. I prefer hammock Camping in the rain because it keeps you off the wet ground and with a 3X3 tarp you are protected. Yes, there are many ways to skin a cat, and of course many ways to make coffee. That method is a very convenient one. There is no comparison between fresh ground and previously ground. When you grind it on the spot you'll notice that it opens new doors for you. Thanks for watching and listening. Cheers
Nice vid. Subscribed!
Much appreciated! Welcome to my channel and my life's passion
@@TheLoreofBushcraft ;) 👍💪
Great video, cool gear, new subscriber. Most interested in the sugar you have. Many thanks.
Wonderful to hear mate welcome to my channel. The sugar is cone sugar. It is an 18th century style and they still use it in many x British colonies. let me know if you have any questions. Cheers
@@TheLoreofBushcraft I'm located in Arkansas USA. My daughter lives in Australia, she's seen it in the international grocery. When I visit next year I'll try to find some. Many thanks for your response.
nice
Thank you...
Cracking video as always, what was the SOS bar like?, I prefer hammock camping, also prefer meths stoves, even in the depths of winter, is yours the pathfinder one?, and your thermal poncho, was that the original helikon-tex swagman one?, love the way you do your videos, inspires, keeps me going when I'm stuck in bed for afew days, good health and safe travels my friend, cheers craig
Hi Craig, the SOS bar taste like an extreme Sugar Wafer (that's basically what it is, sugar).
It was a no hassle meals that I just wanted to test since I was being rained on the entire time, yuck.
I don't really care for alcohol stoves, they tend to be quite heavy, because you have to carry the liquid.
I prefer a campfire of course but I know you gents the UK need a variety of stoves due to the fact that there's no wood about, especially up north.
It is a Self-Reliance stove and it worked very well.
I was wearing a Helikon-Tex Swagman Roll, it's what I used as an underquilt since it has six functions, a blanket, and underquilt, a standalone, poncho liner, summer sleeping bag/emergency bag and a sleeping bag liner itself.
In a warmer months I prefer a hammock, because it keeps me sealed in from bugs, off the ground protected from rain and moisture, as well as convection keeps you cool on your back side.
Looking forward to you having to you being back on your feet and having a speedy recovery.
Cheers
Great video quite peaceful and soothing to watch. Nice gear too. I was looking for a review on the Silky and stumbled across your channel. Seeing it in action helps, but I am curious about the durability. Do you think it is high enough quality to be the last saw you have to buy and will it be something you can pass down to the next generation?
Hello David, the new edition outback saw is made with bushcrafters in mine and therefore is very heavy duty compared to their regular models. I've had the previous models for years with no complaint, yet the new models I'm very happy with. Even if I break the blade I can replace it. I definitely recommend it. If you have any more questions let me know. Welcome aboard David! 💪
Nice video sir. Can you please tell me the color selection of your vida pro ventilated trousers you are wearing here. Thank you
Hello, Thank you very much! The trousers are Forest Green
Another beautiful piece. How long does it take you to edit a film together? You do a superb job. Really appreciating the time you have taken to share your trips. (Out of lockdown, and Woodsman's pantry back in stock! Woop Woop!) J in NZ
Hello and thank you!! I takes a week to do a 2-3 day trip time slotted and stretch over the course of that week. I can complete one in 12 hrs if I work non-stop. I'm back to work full-time so things will definitely take longer. I am going to start doing a lot of overnighters in which the editing time will significantly decrease.
Loved the video. Curious about the backpack you're using?
Glad you enjoyed it! The pack is Helikon-Tex Bergen. Let me know if you have any more questions mate, thanks for watching!
Bushcraft pestle! 🤣😂🤣👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
Exactly! ☕ Did you notice that I forgot to fill the coffee tin? And, I didn't compensate by using less water, so as a result I got "strong coffee water." 😂😃🤣😆
@@TheLoreofBushcraft - That’s why I always have a tube of the instant stuff in my pack somewhere! Ha Ha Ha!!!

Yay, ☕ cheers
I'm thinking of trying a stainless kettle as an alternative to my Mors pot. I can't decide between this one and the GSI Glacier.
My question is does it feel awkward to use with the pour spout located on top of the kettle? It seems like it may be more clumsy to use, but I don't have one in hand, so I'll trust your opinion and experience.
Hello Lyco, the pour is perfect, and the lid stays in place. It's a great pot and I was lucky to discover it. For well built stainless steel you can't go wrong. I'm also featuring the Uberleben kettle in my next video. It works quite well as a kettle and a pot.

Thanks a ton for your reply !
Hello!! Did you wax the front side of the woodsman anorak!!! I have the same one and I was wondering if I could put wax on the front side.
Hello, I just happened to be awake and saw this. Yes, I did wax the front and arms only. Let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks for watching!
@@TheLoreofBushcraft Can you explain in a little more detail how you put the wax.
i have a GREENLAND WAX is it good for the fabric of Helikon-Tex. ?
Hi Sure, I used Barbour wax, because it spreads easier. I just used a sponge and a hair dryer on high and I made sure I didn't get any on the back which is that elastic type material as you know. Super easy
great video new subscriber what is the total weight of all your gear
Hello Duffdog, welcome aboard! 8.6 kg/19 lbs with the two items of food I brought with me (1 Backpackers Pantry & SOS Ration pack 3600 cal, I don't carry water)
Same tea kettle I have. How does it compare it to the other one you have with two handles on it?
Hi Scott, well my Eagle Products kettle is .7 litre, costs $56+Tax & Delivery fees compared to $32+Tax & Free Delivery with Amazon prime for the Fire Maple, the EP kettle is elusive and almost entirely sold out worldwide except for an occasional in stock miracle. Obviously, the EP kettle is well sort after. @@TheLoreofBushcraft ok I think I'll stay with my fire maple. It's working great but something about the double handles of the EP intrigued me since it could be held more steady. I'm ridiculous sometimes while trying to find a "more perfect" product haha.
Glad I can help with your decision ✅
How did you hang your backpack under the tarp?
Hello Jose, I stuck a forked steak into the ground (similar to wooden coat rack) supported by bucktresses and rocks. I demonstrated it in one of my older videos but I can't remember which one off hand. It really works great. You can also make smaller ones to hang things on. Here's a link to me using them in one of my other videos. instagram.com/p/CHh8aosh3v1/?
What part of the country was this? It's amazingly gorgeous.
Hello, this is in the Northeast States. It truly is a Wonderland and the reason I remain in the states. Cheers
What kind of pants are you wearing in that video?
Hello Kara, those are Fjallraven Vidda pro ventilated. Let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers
It isnt alternative by any way.
Why do you say so?
