So in reality, these are the conditions that you will have to adapt to. There is hardly any situation where the conditions are ideal. otherwise, you won’t be Bushcrafting but vacationing. There has never been a trip that I haven’t lost something, broken something or forgotten something. On his trip alone I forgot my tripod and had to craft one on the fly just to start. On this trip I encountered a Bear, as I was sitting by the campfire. It came up growling at me, which I found very odd because fire is supposed to scare them off. The next day as I was walking, I saw that particular bear that you saw in the video and I wanted to protect the bear from humans by making it scared of us, so I actually ended up yelling at it and it turns out that there was a whole ...

AN EPIC BUSHCRAFT ADVENTURE: New Bushcraft Spain Tarp/Ground Cloth, 3Day Meatball Stew, Tinder Pouch

Welcome all, This has been a return to a previous campsite I created last year. The location is the same spot I filmed my one year UA-cam anniversary at. So, you will see a lot of similarities if you have seen it. The shelter system is obviously from Bushcraft Spain (they have not sponsored, nor given me any kit to review). This video was filmed over a two night outing. It features some kit that you haven't seen, so it's new to you, although I've had some of it for some time now. Thanks for coming along on "my latest" winter adventure. This was actually filmed in January on one of the coldest days we've had all year. Hi Carn. Don’t worry about your videos. You were new at it, and you’re doing fine. Clever idea. Three videos from a 6 day trip. Were you in England when you filmed these, or the States? I love it when it rains when I’m in a tent. Especially, sleeping. I guess England’s loss is our gain. Keep up the good work, Mate.

    Hi Carn. Thought I would go back and watch your videos from the beginning. Nice one. I like the way you had your camp setup. Cozy and comfortable. That tarp you use looks like a good one. Is it waxed canvas? I have a couple of candle lanterns like the one you have. Looking forward to viewing more of your videos. If you are interested, there is a very good WW II re-enactment in Rockford, IL, in late September. Upwards of 1,000 re-enactors and a lot of interesting equipment. Take care, Steven

      Hi Steven, just be aware some of the early videos are my untrained venture into filming, so please excuse me. Yes, the Tarp is waxed canvas, as is most of my tarps. I prefer the old ways as I’m sure you gathered. Thanks for the invite, although I don’t get a chance to travel much what’s my massive schedule. But if you get a copy of the reenactment video, do you send me a link. I’m editing my latest adventure and I’ll try to have it out by Friday. I truly appreciate your comments and input. Definitely keep them coming. Cheers mate

      Great news Jimmy, congratulations! 🏆 Yes, very comfy indeed but we did too heavy and bulky. Let me know if your pad deflates overnight because mine does and I’m wondering if I just have a home or not, please. It doesn’t do it completely. It just loses its firmness overnight as if the air is seeping out slowly.

    • @jimmyfields5831
      @jimmyfields5831 6 днів тому

      I’m sure you’ve already checked the caps on the air intake valves, could also be the air temperatures like in car tires once the air heats up it expands when temp drops the molecules shrink that would be my thoughts but I’ll have to test the theory in the winter months, you may also have a tiny pin hole in it .

That was quite a load you were carrying. Did you have a sleeping bag or just a blanket? The stew looked delicious. If you don’t mind my asking, what area are you in, just in general. Kind of a ballpark idea. Just to get a feel for area you are camping in. No problem, if you’d rather not say. Take care and enjoy 😉, I know I enjoy watching your videos. 😊👍 And, God bless!

      Hi there, I’ve been doing this since I was a lad. I started off running away from home and going out into the woods with just my school bag and some tins of beans and tuna fish. As a child, you didn’t have equipment and you got cold at night so you learned how to build shelters and improvise and stay warm. I’ve had formal training and like you, trial and error, books, videos, groups and friends with the same interest. The woods have always been an escape for me since I was abused as a child and it has always been a sanctuary for me. Nature has such healing powers. and the empowerment of self-reliance is priceless.

    Nice video. I love watching how you set up your camp sites. What area are you camping in?

    Hey Carn, I've been meaning to ask you something concerning the meat you carry in the bush. How long does the meat last without refrigerating when your in the forest? Is there specific types of meat that last longer than others or the type of wrapping used to keep it from spoiling? c

    • @TheLoreofBushcraft
      @TheLoreofBushcraft 27 днів тому

      Hello, the answer is: I don't eat meat. I've been vegan for most than 8 years now. The mock meat you see me consume is produced by Impossible Meats and Beyond Meat. And to answer your other question, they don't spoil as quickly as animal flesh does and can last up can 4 days, five at a stretch in mid-summer. However, I do store it in the stream or creek (in my Bushpot with a rock on top) if I will be more than 2 days to keep the temperature down and extend the shelf life.

      Thanks for getting back to me on that. I should of thought of that because that's how I've always done my canteen or beverages, thanks Carn.

    Nice video on the gear load out Carn. I own some of same gear you carry from The PathFinder Self Reliance Outfitters store and I really like that fixed blade knife you have with the ferro rod on the leather sheath you have. I would like to acquire one myself someday when the funds are availuable, great kit.

      More stuff than normal, I just wanted to have a varied display for variety. My kit always changes depending on the outing and I use much less stuff than that. Well, I have a variety of knives to choose from, scroll down on my Instagram page where I did some reviews on knives I purchased. I presently use Ray Mears Pro Woodlore Knife for the most part.

    You know you are in the wild when you see snakes and bears. I noticed you typically rock Fjallraven pants and Bushcraft Spain gear. Would you ever consider doing a video on the traditional gear you carry? I would be particularly interested in your cooking gear and your ditty bags. I saw some similar goodies on Etsy. Maybe you could get some sponsorship, if you don't already have one. In any case, this is another fantastic video. I love your content, the quotes, and the overall style of your videos. Rock on brother and Happy Father's Day!

      Sorry for the late reply, I’ll tell you that has to be one of the nicest comments I’ve ever heard. I really appreciate your recognition. Yes, Fjallraven and Bushcraft Spain have great quality products that were designed for people like me/us. I would consider a load-out Traditional gear video, but as you can see, I simply go out on an outing and list the equipment I use. And yes, Etsy is great, I’ve gotten many things from there and it’s a great way to support individual and small business craftsmen. Feel free to message me on Instagram and we can always have a chat. Thanks, again!

    Wow! Awesome adventure. Like you, the plow point is my favorite set up for overnighters. I also will say that I enjoyed your commentary of your adventures just as much as the video footage. Also, the quotes that you add to the footage is just as inspiring as the footage itself. Thank you so much!

      Yeah, the plough point is nice and easy. Well, I really wish I can inspire others as well as just share my adventures as I’m sure you do the same Andrew. People that don’t go out into nature do not realise that they neglecting themselves from what comes natural. These places are where we belong and they are like coming home. Thank you for your encouragement mate. Cheers

    Hey Carn, nice to see you out and about. I see you've met Mr.Black Bear along your route, lol😅. A word of caution, even though they seem and act docile don't you for one second believe that. That guy was a young bear around 200 lbs. and they can weigh up to 600 lbs. They can be aggressive at times, especially a mama bear with cubs. I like watching the meal you made, fast and simple as well as delicious 😋. Love the video mate, just keep'em coming.

      As of 2000, there has been one fatal encounter between a human and a black bear in New York State, involving an infant in an unprovoked attack. This was the second fatal encounter between a black bear and a human in the northeastern United States since 1900. Also the the largest average bear only gets to around 350 around here due to the limited range they have as opposed to West Coast bears. Leave them alone and they will leave you alone. Also, some danger is a reality of the wilderness, but I’ll tell you one thing it’s much safer than the New York City Subway. Cheers mate and Thanks for the concern.
