Just bought one yesterday on their Black Friday sale. I wanted the Commander anyway for the autopilot automation so I figured for an extra $100 I'll try the knob. Not sure if I'll stick with it but even if I end up wanting to go back to the minimalistic feel, I'm only out $100.
awesome video bro!! i was wondering what is the measurement for the width? looks chunkier hehehe. i'm planning to mount it under the screen (kinda like mustang mach-e). i cant use the knob when both cup holders is being used!!!
It's great that there are more and more aftermarket accessories coming out! There is a wide world of room for more too. Does the knob need to interface with the OBD connector or something? Or does it run wireless (except for the power)? Tesla really needs to supply more "ciggy" lighter outlets, as well as USB-C and Type-A outlets. Can I get $80.00 off if I order one in plain bubble wrap instead of that crazy box that a Rolex watch comes in? LOL. The audio nerds need to bump heads and come up with an interface so that an "off the shelf" powered subwoofer box be installed in the trunk for the models that don't come with subs.
You have to connect their Commander into the OBD port near the passenger door sill. Then the knob pairs to that! I don’t think you can order it in a cheaper box lol, but I think they’re going to offer the knob by itself without the commander. But that only helps if you already have the buttons and the gen 2 commander! I agree wholeheartedly about the subwoofer 😆 Thanks for watching!
@@MetzTech Thx for the answer! So knob is wireless insofar that running wires from the OBD to the knob is not needed. Good. I'll probably get it when my new Tesla shows up.
What I like the most about my Tesla is no button. This is an useless device for me, i prefer to use the vocal command for most of things I need while driving.
Vocal command is limited, and uncomfortable to use when talking on phone or listening to music. Operating from screen is dangerous and uncomfortable. For highland cars, you can use this to switch gears and signal, which is much needed as the location is much more accessible and not changing with steering wheel position. There are many other things the commander can do, like automatically re-engage autosteer after lane change (for people without FSD). Automatically open doors when you come close, and much more.

Is there a shortcut also for the hazardlights?
Yes you can!

Ill check that out and let you know!
@@MetzTech I really appreciate that bro! thanks
Gonna be funny when your passenger is trying to turn on the AC and puts your car in reverse instead.
That's a stupid but awfully real concern hahaha I hope it can the personalized and not controlled by a rolling button.
That is absolutely not a concern. Teslas by design cannot be switched from drive to reverse until at least

I get that for sure. I tend to lean that way as well
