Im looking forward to getting one for my MYLR. I wanted to watch a few more people online get it and fool around with to see if any major bugs or defects before ordering.
This seems like an appropriate enhancement to the very austere control presentation from Tesla. Of course utility depends on what can be controlled by the knob/buttons especially what's presented (or deleted) in the new Highland upgrade. I am a Tesla proponent but I am seriously turned off by the non-tactile availability of basic functions being replaced by attention disrupting screen touches. Looking forward to your exploration of programmability.
I, personally, do not. I paid $200 VERY early on. Because of the placement behind the drink holders, it may not be worth $200, for me. Still evaluating…
I have had the S3XY buttons in my other MYLR, but unless you can change the commands performed I don't see the real benefit of the wheel. After all, the seat heaters and fan commands are right on the screen without any further actions. Now, if you could change the commands you can perform like with the wheel, I would then see the benefit.
Looks like a useful addition to the Tesla. My wife complains there are no knobs! I would like to have commonly accessed features on the knob. Fan speed is a plus for sure. Wiper speed sometimes is needed too. Occassionally might need to pop an individual door lock picking up passengers. I’ve tried voice control to do these commands, but sometimes road noise will change what is heard by the car, and it will think I want to navigate to Piper’s Auto instead of setting the Wipers to Auto. 😡 That’s somwhere in Mexico, by the way. Totally screws up my drive. Using the scroll wheel to set wiper speed isn’t ideal, either.
Looks nice but I'm already completely satisfied with these settings that are set on AUTO. I never manually wish to change any of these settings so I can see no justification for this add on.
That was a perfect opening comment on the cups. They do block the view. What year/version MY? I have a 2022 with Intel.
I have the same. It is to bad about the cups. As a result, I get most use out of the Commander working in the background.

So far, so good! I'll be posting some use videos soon.

Wow that install was insanely easy
It really was; and not excited about doing installs! 😂
getting the connector apart at the rear of the center console looked difficult
Did you ever get your knob to display F instead of C for the temperature?
Yes! They issued an update a few months ago that fixed that issue.
Can you use the knob to shift from D to N back to D (like in a car wash)?
Not yet.
@@RockingThisTesla Darn! Is that something they are working on by chance?
I like the idea of this. Do you think the added functionality is worth $330?

Did you shut down your tesla first before installing ?
I did not. I think that is unnecessary. It’s just like plugging in a code reader in an ICE car. But; probably safe than sorry is the best route?
I thought about getting sexy knob but opted with buttons because sexy knob doesn't have usb port built into it
1:37 you can see it has an extra usb C in order to not loose a slot

The four quadrants and the center of the button are all programmable. I’ll have a full use video soon!

A lot of the commands save time and attention from the road that you have to dig for in different screens.
Why?
Why not?
