Very first meal my parents cooked on that in 1980 was a beautiful roast loin of pork with an herb crust. Right on the counter. Divinity!!! I was talking to a friend yesterday about roasting chickens and pork roasts and how different and easy with Farberware compared to the Ronco one. I went on ebay earlier tonight and bought one in fantastic shape....I'm so excited!!! Thaaaanks for the MEMoriessssss.....
My father game me his. I remember using it maybe twice long ago, but it works fine now. It does a chicken in about 3 hours, and I have to cook it outdoors in a screened-in patio because it smells so good! It's three hours of pure torture to smell it all that time.
The best food tasted growing up was cooking from that grill. I've been searching forever, looking to buy one for myself just to get my inner childhood tastebuds back.
I've had two; the first one was given to me (used) and it was used for bone-in prime rib only for 15+ years. The motor gave out. I've since purchased another one at a local estate sale. I took this maybe used once rotisserie off their hands for about $15.00. People are selling them on e-Bay for upwards $199. I've yet to see a current model by any brand for this type of small appliance.
We have had one in our family for over 40 years. We still cook leg of lamb on it for the holidays. It is the best way to cook a large portion of meat. We used it indoors until my mom decided to use in the glassed in porch (in Michigan in the winter) because the smell of lamb lasts for days if you cook indoors. I am looking for one to buy for myself now.
We were given this as a gift back in the early 80s :-) Love love it. However we loaned it to a friend and never got the instructions back - any help in getting the instuction book. Miss the rotisserie - chicken. pork roast, turkey - always very yummy. I can't remember the placements for how far from the heating element. Thanks.
I wouldn't stress top much about height placement, unless you set it too high. It's not a super hot heating element so if you think it's getting a little char on whatever you're cooking just raise it up a notch. I've has mine for 15 years and it didn't have a booklet either but I'm also a chef so there's that.
Make sure you get the correct model motor for your Faberware Broiler they are easy to find on Ebay, ($20-$30), sometimes cheaper. The motor just slides on the Spit bracket No installation). All parts a readily available on Ebay just make sure you buy for your right model. Faberware made many models over the years and slightly changed some parts.
I was wondering, please, if the juices drip onto the heating element? It seems as if they would. I've never taken my 455N out of the box; I was thinking of trying it, though.
I don't think that's a problem. It's made for that. My friend had one for years. She said put some water in the drip pan and it cleans up very easily.@@catmeowpurr
Makes the best roasts, (we used it a lot for eye of the round and pork roast. Don't know what we'll do once motor runs out. Don't put too heavy of meat on the rotisserie because it will burn the motor out.
The thing that's different about these grills when comparing with the others is : they work. and will keep on working for years.

It's smokeless ; okay to use inside on countertop.

I've had my eye on these, but they must use a heck of a lot of electricity.

Yes, some juice drops would hit the element.
