I remember watching this show and being so uncomfortable everyone in Maddie's classroom moved at the same exact time in the same exact way, but it was never brought up again or explained why. Now, after so much time, it finally has. And it's so incredible how everything came full circle. A little incident you brushed off as a coincidence was a tell tale sign afterall. Just comes to show that without the presence of information you limit yourself to what you can understand but what you can't doesn't automatically mean it isn't there.
Because I recently watched serial experiment lain. When that scene played out I thought maddie would somehow transcend and become god or she already is one. But by the beginning of season 2 I thought no way that plays out. Happy I was wrong
To me this movie was good but only if I was a kid when I wondered about life but now it's like a reminder of the phrase from the bible about god made man in his image but living life proves that is wrong
Huh, never thought about it that way before Although that then begs the question how that specifying strings of incident differ in their origin universe (non-simulated)
I really liked how everything felt like it escalated so quickly towards the end, it felt like a paralel to the nature of technology and the never ending search for knowdlege that only seem to grow exponentially.
Hard agree. As I understand it this show was cancelled and thats why the ending was done the way it was but I actually absolutely love that. Fast escalation of a story towards the end is one of the most amazing things that can happen if its done well. Kinda similar to the "Houseki no Kuni" Manga...
I don’t know maybe it’s my human speed brain but I just thought everything moved too fast at the end and I just couldn’t keep up in the ending. Just kind of blew my mind where I didn’t even know what to think of the end I thought I like the show I think it was pretty brilliant butI’m all about the endings and this one I just can’t really figure out. I just thought it was a little too abstract and I love abstract movies, but this one felt like the fountain or some other weird movie that is incomprehensible.
@@FzBlade Same! I feel like I haven't seen it much, if ever that I can recall. Do you have any show recommendations that include this kind of escalation towards the end?
@@thefullmontea arrival does same thing. Though it's a movie and not show it falls into same category where the rapid escalation the ending it provides leaves us in awe!
I really wanted to say I love how the teacher in the opening scene of the very 1st episode was actually foreshadowing everything at heart, but when we we first introduced to the scene (the first time it showed in ep 1) his voice fades in the background and instead it focuses on everyone in the class moving in the exact same way. But after finishing the series/watching the very last episode, if you listen closely to the beginning of the first episode, you can tell the same exact thing is being said. But the last episode is what allows us to hear the teacher's lesson, the discussion of Greek Gods, which perfectly ties into everything. You can tell they planned it all. A little nice detail I'd love to hear more people talk about.
Guys I want to know why David forgot everything when MIST asked him about what happened, after he told Elen why he was resurrected. Also, I want to make sure which simulation Maddie and Caspian ended up getting into. Is it the one we have been watching for the past two seasons, and nothing will be changed, they'll simply relive the nightmare, or is it the simulation that Maddie and Caspian get a happy life? This means so much to me. If anyone can answer it, I'd really appreciate.
@@giornogiovann i think for my opinion she came back to the first episode season 1 again reliving her past but now she remembers all of it that’s why we see her eyes surprised in the finale , the past would take its course but now Maddie could prevent everything that’s about to happen because she remembers it all that’s how I thought about it yk.
@@Lianahan953. Thank you! That's what I hoped. But I'm really afraid of fact that they said they were gonna forget all of these. I'm scared that it'll be the same thing all over again without a single thing changed. And I believe that Maddie had the same expression on season 1 EP 1 when the mean girl sent her that email.
Technically, Amazon saved the series from cancellation. However, it's only officially released on Prime Video in Australia and New Zealand. Let’s hope it reaches an official release on streaming outside of those two countries.
@@fishscalecocainebut it needs correct marketing. I only heard about the show from a UA-cam channel begging people to watch because it’s so good. Should fit with Amazon’s more adult animation. Only would have preferred keeping the show going and season two wasn’t compressed to reach an ending. Still great and hope people catch on over the years.
I dont think safe surf created the dyson sphere, did it? Maddie explictely said she created it after uploading using her robots. In her original timeline Humanity was able to harness the power of the sun using the explanation of exponential growth of technology since UI could think way faster and all we are watch is the past and diff timelines she visits to tweak to have a specific outcome.
I don’t think she could’ve created it cuz the robots would’ve killed her before she got uploaded in the real timeline. I think what he meant was that she created a Dyson sphere within the grand simulation which is inside the safe surf’s Dyson sphere. This also means that there are countless other simulations of their universe where madddi creates a Dyson sphere but chooses something different in the end
In the original timeline Safe surf is implied to have killed Maddie before being banished from earth where it then encountered aliens and created a grand simulation and then end up creating a another simulation in which contains the Dyson sphere which contains the simulations that show the events of the show. The entire show is a simulation inside a simulation inside a simulation
maddie created her own dyson sphere, within the timelords Grand dyson sphere. A simulation WTHIN a simulation. Its actually unsure what happened in the original timeline, my guess is that humanity didnt actually make it. This would make the most sense as to why the Timelords (safe surf) created their grand simulation as a way for humanity to "do it all over again".
So, just a correction here. There was NOT more than two seasons expected by the writers. The writers have confirmed they intended the series to end at two seasons all along, based on the stories it's from. What DID happen was that Season 2 was almost cancelled, so the studio could have a tax write-off. It was Amazon Australia the bought and released the full show.
i think it was a good ending...felt a bit rushed, but made sense lets be glad we had an ending at all lol, someshows get milked into trash or non sense this one, played all it's concepts and tied the knot
Can't really think of anything they should've added. Only thing i wonder is if the Israeli and Iranian dudes were alright in the end I think the time jumps were disorienting, and existential, which I think was purposeful and to the shows benefit
@@duki8616those two were alright. They fused into a CI, you could see them in the fight that killed Caspian at first (or so we thought). My question is the other OG UIs like that astronaut lady, actually only her, the rest probably disintegrated.
The rushed ending is kind of the point. It makes you yearn for the way things were before, when it made sense, when everything felt more... real and alive.
It was definitely not rushed the whole show has a managed to fit that feels like the whole series in one piece but yet giving one fraction of the story it was definitely not rushed but managed to put together every bit of detail we missed in other episodes which might felt rushed but from what I understand it had meaning onto it
I thought this show got canceled awhile back until like a few hours ago and I binged season two on UA-cam. I didn’t even know Amazon picked it up but I hate it was only for Australia and New Zealand. I’m glad someone uploaded on UA-cam because that ending was crazy.
So I just finished binge watching season 2 at 3am. Those last two episodes really were insane and awesome, on a totally different level. And now I can't sleep.
i will never find anything as good as pantheon again man, this show was so crazy good I can't even comprehend how I'll ever watch sci-fi again knowing this masterpiece exists. So fucking underrated
I know s9me fans had issues with Maddie and Caspian but I really understand their chemistry and I became an instant fan of it. To be honest I did not like the time skip into 20 years and felt like they could have done something better to avoid that, but I get the whole cancellation and have to wrap tj8nys up explanation
Same. I mean, their ages are stated to be 14 and 17 respectively, but they felt on the same level to me. Some of that can be chalked up to Maddie having grown up fast due to her experiences, and Caspian being kinda stunted by his, some to the fact that it's fiction. Like, you can say characters are a certain age, but that doesn't mean they're just like real people their age. In no way did it feel like Caspian was taking advantage of Maddie.
I think that by season 2 Caspain is 19 and Maddie is 16. And I don't think we needed that much backstory for them to end up together. In a story this complex you have to assume that most romantic situations happened in the background. Being a teen mom was something very interesting tbh. And is what makes writing a story so compelling. It wasn't celebrated or encouraged; it was something that just happened; like it does in real life. The part of the son not contributing much is true though. Caspian and him literally never had a conversation but oh well. But I still have a question... what happened to the uploads??? Did Maddie just went her way to live alone and create a universe?
Maybe the ui's also became gods like safe suff all we know is that she was a simulation made by safe suff so the universe were safe suff is that's were the ui's are 44 million years is a long time so they must also have become gods
One thing isn't acknowledged in the show is that UI is just a copy of you. You actually die and so you are not actually waking up in the system. This can easily be proven with the idea of a copy, imagine if you had 2 copies in a system, which one will it be you, well none, both will be their own person. You still did die.
The writers did what they could when they saw that they only have a few seasons, because I'm surethat "UI death" was dealt with in the second season and the "20 years" jump was going to be the end of the second season. and in the third focuses of new world of UI Utopia.
They explain it pretty clearly. It's explained right off the bat with the first brain scan we see. A genius would not be terrified by a little pain to enter the digital world. It's just something that was lost along time and diluted massively as it was given to the masses. The whole reason most of humanity was against it a long with the first UIs was that they new it wasn't them, their consciousness. It's the whole reason Ellen was against David's choice in the first place, and why she is stiff with him being brought back initially.
While this is somewhat true, it also brings up some questions like what it means to be us, kind of like an extension of the problem with the ship of Theseus, because we basicly are like that ship, I belive that we constantly die and are born anew with each memory, change in our brain or body, or some other metric that changes us, but the idea of who we are to someone most of the time stays the same, so if you were to be uploaded and copied once, at least in my opinion, you would live in two states and die in one, your "original" body would ofc die but the two copies of you would still be you, granted, they probably would be diffrent after some time, but they would still be fundamentaly you, even if they changed their identities and are completly diffrent from eachother and the person who died while getting uploaded.
tell me, was this scene depressing, what did you think of the ending? To me. It hurts that Maddie and Caspian, cannot continue their real lineage through their son Dave, in the real timeline. I would’ve expected all the humans to naturally die and then on the verge of death, let them be uploaded instead of voluntary uploads. It’s so sad that even after 46 million years, I’m not even a computer neuroscientist or anything but I feel this is logical. I’ve just finished school.
But you know, I think they're all "real." That is, these other worlds are still made of the same stuff as the "real" world; everything is still a part of the same intraconnected whole. The same is true of fiction: it's not a reflection of "real life" but is a part of it, coming out of the "real world" and affecting it in turn.
@@Hakajin I remember most of the 'real' worlds discarded by Maddie. How much could 'real' that be recognized as 'just processed to the goal' by creator? Also, this couple was flipped timeline so that restart their lives in 'real' world, which means whole forward timeline 'real' world people's works became meaningless.
or you know, the series isnt told from iteration zero just kinda like how you briefly mentioned how there were "glitches in the matrix" you can assume that in each recursion that there were deviations/discrepancies that an outside observer caused. like giving her the genius ideas at each "inflection" point. much like how Caspian experienced. it wasnt a total and direct copy of Phineas' experience, he mustve made it more efficient the second time round to get to the answer of integrity. same thing must have occurred for Maddie, how her mission was to maximise happiness in her life. she inflects the changes she needs to get the best outcomes. just like how you would replay a video game exploring all your options, and then in the next iteration you have your preferred "destined" actions.
Late to the party but here’s my two cents: The age gap thing is a non-issue for me because retconning made it too confusing. In Season, Maddie is 14 and Caspian is 17 and there’s no tension since their interactions range from semi hostile to neutral to sympathetic. However, in the 43 days said to be between 1 and 2, Maddie is now 17 according to her driver’s license and I imagine Caspian is 18 since Dave said he’s two years younger. I think when they realized they had a time crunch they changed things so Maddie and Caspian’s story would reach this conclusion on a shorter time frame.
I've actually figured out the answer to this problem! I used to be confused the driver's license too, but I managed to have a conversation on reddit with someone who worked on the show, and they confirmed that the driver's license we see in episode two is in fact a fake that maddie made so she could be allowed to drive, and her canonical age in season 2 is 15
Here, in this case regarding Maddie's search for a version of herself willing to ascend to godhood; we can only ever wish her the best of luck in that endeavor.
I think 2nd season Maddie had suddenly had tech skills because… she always had them, because she was just one of the many versions of Maddie. I would say that, I guess we’ll call her Maddie Prime, always had tech skills, and was the original version of Maddie, who took the upload option. S1 and most of S2 Maddie was the version Maddie Prime wished she had taken - never wanting to have uploaded. And ultimately, right before the major time skips, she realized that her origin story was inescapable, and that she needed to upload once again, because at the end of it all, she wanted to experience a reality where she never needed to upload. And this show was us bearing witness to the umpteenth time that it failed.
Seriously, on a narrative and meta-narrative level he is super miserable, he only exists so that his mother cannot overcome the grieving process, she becomes distant because of her work, her family abandoned him to go to a higher realm than the one she left for. He refused to go, the only one who supported him was his aunt but only to use him for political purposes, in most timelines he surely dies without being able to ascend to what he was raised to consider real life, his dad didn't even stop a minute to talk to him though He had time and in the end his parents abandoned him so they could continue with their eternal romance of a few months. Seriously, seeing the pattern of tragedy in Maddy and Caspian's lineages, maybe it was for the best that their family ended with
Brilliant video bro. Definitely could tell they envisioned more seasons to tell the story but had to wrap up and jam pack s2. Gosh man Season 1 is such peak story telling. Season 2 , with its rough edges , and I’m talking really rough , was quite unusually pleasing. Really wished they continued Holstrom and his pandemic arc. That would’ve been insane.
Seems like there was supposed to be more in the middle. Like, I feel like there was supposed to be a post time-skip season where Dave played a bigger role and Maddie and Caspian have to deal with living in different worlds and the now reversed age gap.
In that sense it really feels like it suffered the same fate as Evangelion, the way the series was rushed towards the end and the ending was too apocalyptic and convoluted
Maddie wasnt a genius but being uploaded for thousands of human years running at speeds a lot faster and learning things the way only a UI has the capability of. Was how she was able to do it.
Oh that also brings up my question! Not necessarily to you but to anyone who reads this, why did it feel as if Maddie was the only UI "alive"? Weren't there technically other UI's to experience uploaded intelligence with? But at the end, it seemed she was automatically seperate from the others. So this is one of my biggest concerns. How was she able to achieve God like level when there were other UIs? Or not. Again this isn't being said so you can feel forced to answer, it's for anyone to reply to :)
@@animalfinatic9366 because the UI’s exist inside a simulated Universe that Maddie created. She is on a higher level of existence than them. See it as platforms. The lowest being the universe we watches as viewers, the one with the UI’s and humans we followed, then there is a higher level, which is Maddie’s universe with her dyson sphere (Idk how to write that), then there are even more layers above her own universe. You can see her as the god of those simulated Universes within her dyson sphere. But in the same sense “God” Maddie is also just a simulation living inside a simulated universe made by another even higher Maddie. And that 2nd Maddie also lives inside another simulated universe. That goes on so far until we reach the highest simulated universe which is run by SafeSurf. SafeSurf lives in the real universe.
Drugs don’t create better stories y’all are just losers who think it does. Actually it’s very creative people who happen to take drugs and the drugs honestly stop them from realizing their full creativity
Now we know that after two seasons companies such as HBO, Netflix and Amazon Prime must increase the wages across the board after a second season to creators, producers, technician and actors. They rather make a buck and move on to the next best thing for the dollar.
Of course they want to make money. We are literally talking about companies. If a show doesn’t have enough viewers watching it through legal means then it’s going to be cancelled because it makes less money than they have to pay to make it. It’s a simple business decision. It’s not quantum physics.
abt the age gape, it made me uncomfortable too but they probably retconned her age bc they probably didnt plan for them to get together until later seasons and proof of that is that she has a drivers licence??? she has to be at least 16 in s2 for that and the made it clear that they kept caspian at 18.
I had to say this was such an incredible video, you explained everything so flawlessly that it almost felt like an official video produced by the show and studio itself. Very on point and precise. The reviews given at the end were also great to include. I liked your interpretation of the ending, I have to ask, what made you see it that way? I felt disheartened and less optimistc with how the show included. I thought they were entering an exact timeline where all the events were the same. So it felt empty to repeat it for the sake of experiencing it, though I understand where Maddie is coming from. This is why I'm very fond of your perspective on it, that they are entering a timeline where they can in fact have that happy ending. I'd love to hear what led you to feel that way. Perhaps my mind can settle on that idea itself and be comfortable with it. I too have my complaints of the show. Season 1 was outstanding because it challenged the idea of eternal life and brought awareness to the fact a person would be dying if they chose to upload. Season 2 gets rid of that heaviness and approaches UI more casually. I wished there was more consistency and a smoother transition into the society it was by the Season 2. Also, Elle (I think is her name) or Maddie's Mom was also out of character to resort to UI. Of course, people can change, but they did not display change well. My heart also breaks at the fate Caspian had, but it's nice to see there was more to the story than a completely bad ending. There's many questions that arises, but a big one for me, that as good of a person Caspian was, it's shocking to think that he is a younger Stephen Holstrom. It makes you think that if Stephen had a Maddie in his life, would he still be the same? Of course he wouldn't because your experiences shape you, so what I'm trying to say is, I wonder what the "flex point" was for him to become a UI extremist. It's sad that there were so many areas anticipated to be explored and fleshed out but they were forced to bring it to such an abrupt close. I don't think there is anymore more upsetting than working so hard to your craft only for it to be rushed and prematurely end. But there is a remedy...other people. And that's why I'd like to have this discussion. Great video!!!
She was showing signs of knowing programming in episode of season one She also can learn to make the universe with enough time to learn in the virtual world like several characters did. Also, it's only 20 years in the future, and they slowly went digital, so they are literally going to have limitations because building in the real world takes time
The lack of physical experience would be mitigated by the robots. You'd be able to walk around just as well if not actually better because of the hydraulic systems, possible flight and swimming upgrades... Uploading is the way to go.
I don't quite understand it yet. Was the "real" world that we started to see in the first season also a simulation within the Grand simulation, or was that not a simulation? If the former was already a simulation, did we ever see the real world?
I believe that the 20 year time skip Is fine, I believe that the point of the show wasn't about the life you have, it's what humanity can achieve and the hardships we might experience along away
I would for sure upload. I have experienced enough of this world to understandable how valuable and yet meaningless it all is. Immortality while being able to live out my dreams would be..a dream lol. When we eventually reach that point in our world there will be people who fight against it as well as those who move forward into it, I just hope those who go against it don't try killing the rest of us like pope tried, we might not have a Maddie of our own to help us. The pros would also greatly out weight any cons, if you would even see not having a "body" as a con. Your brain is ultimately living in a VR experience, seeing and feeling the world though the body it exists in.
You do realise that when a person uploads, the UI is just a programmed copy of the person's brain and thoughts and the actual person is killed. If a copy of something is made, the copy doesn't become the original. My point is, you'd be too de@d to actually be the UI. Killing yourself so the world has a programmable copy of you is just stupid. Imagine uploading didn't kill the person and you're just a guy/girl with a UI copy of yourself in a server. It'd be pretty obvious that you're not the UI.😂😂😂
I just don't understand one thing about meeting caspian again in a universe where they can fall in love and have a happy relationship. Caspians very existence implies the existence of UIs since his purpose of beinf born is to crack integrity. Maddie is the first person to confirm Caspians suspicions about his fake life, and her family are also the reason Caspian turned out so differently from Steven Holstrom. How could they possibly have a normal relationship and life this way? UI will follow Caspian in every universe hes in because he IS Holstrom, thats why hes born. And without David uploading, how would Maddie get involved in Caspians fake life when he's scheduled to have a fake girlfriend? Even if they did meet online, Logarhythms keeps tabs on him. If Maddie is to become his girlfriend, according to Holstroms life, she would have to die in a car "accident". Unfortunately i dont see this working.
She choose same universe, that was according to show timeline, because they wanted to live all happy moments again, every time it's ended after 117649 years and repeat
I feel like Maddie having a child tied into her being “human”/ wanting to stay human and not upload. Wyd if you knew you could upload but if you did you’d never have kids, their kids would never have kids. You’re immortal yes, but for what? For who? You’d never be a father or mother, or grandparent for that matter. I’d want my child asap too if I new the world was like that
Sorry if i was not paying atention o dint understand but did maddie uploaded or what? How did she gained the ability to create simulation? And when they choose to go back do they forget everything or only the part about the simulation? Anyways the show was great and i binge it in 2 days. ❤❤❤
Maddie did upload after losing Caspian again. When they go back they only retain the memories of that universe, not the simulation. She didn’t gain the ability to, it’s sort of the same as UI but instead of uploading it’s a simulation. She takes the data of the people and experiences and puts them into a program
Guys I want to know why David forgot everything when MIST asked him about what happened, after he told Elen why he was resurrected. This means so much to me. If anyone can answer it, I'd really appreciate.
It's a difficult question to answer, they did the same thing to David that they did to Caspian or Dave, letting him know that there is something else, that this is not all there is, but without denying him his free will, a push for him to It continues but without ruining the surprise, whether it was the safe surf or maddie is up to one's interpretation. Whether they will be happy or not in this new universe is relative, there may be many evaluations in this universe, especially now that there is no direct administrator, Lauri may have time to send the message or not die, Caspian may never discover the secret of his identity in time, Cory may let Cary die, there are countless possibilities, and not knowing if this line will be better or worse is the uncertainty they were looking for. If it's any consolation, if it's a bad line, Maddy's primordial nature as a goddess can continue to exist and change universes.
@@eddyandresmartinezrodrigue7600 Thank you sooooooooooooooooo much for this. It means a lot. But if I can take just a little bit more of your time, what do you mean there is no direct administrator anymore? And yes, it is comforting to think that Maddie is capable of doing that.
A fascinating saga of existentialism and technical aspirations and evolutions of one profound something into eons of something. Bottom line: does it need to get that excessive before we realize, we just needed to say, "hey. I need to be vulnerable and work together with you." Lets not let time pass so significantly to say and do the right thing. Problem is, the dance of accord and discord can only be performed by those who can preserve the steps and movements without falling into excess. So...dance with me and maybe we wisdom will exude from union of opposites. In love. In unity. Terrestrious.
When Maddie was creating her universes what where the other UI's doing in the original timeline, did they die🤨, or Maddie put them all in one of her universes..... please i need an answer people, just from finishing the show, had to watch the last 30 mins of the last episode 2 times and i still dont get how she became in isolation. The ending was bittersweet by the way, frustrating that it was rushed but amazing if u think about how they defined the simulation theory so well it makes u question your own reality 💀
Yyyeeeaaahhh idk the show didn’t end or go in the direction that I thought it would when I started watching it. Not really sure what I expected but certainly not all this like universe simulation and simulations inside simulations etc. It was an alright show but yeah the ending kind of killed it for me. Glad to see most people enjoyed it though, my friends did.
Is that why season two just feels so jarring in the last few episodes I feel like once they started time jumping thousands of years into the future. I just couldn’t keep up with the show I mean my brain just overclocked and I just can’t move at UI speeds at the end. I was just thoroughly confused and I’m wondering if the reason is that they just rushed the ending because they didn’t get, the show renewed is that why the ending just feels so overwhelming? Was this the ending that was always planned and it’s just hard to get your mind around because of how abstract it is with Maddie just having everything in a super super simulation and talking to our past self through time or just all rush together because they weren’t getting a third season so they trued to wrap up everything at the end of season 2 and that’s why it feels so jarring? Does anyone know?
Probably a mix of both. It’s likely it’s rushed because the cancellation of the show, there are signs that more was planned, but at the same time the show discusses topics that are hard to comprehend.
I guess most of the problems with season 2 are coming from the cancellation. Since the second season was already in production (as Ive read somewhere) when it was cancelled by AMC+, and then later on finished, Im pretty sure they had to cut short as good as they could. So the second season feels unfinished of concepts and ideas. But at least we've got an end. Which wasnt certain at all. And Im happy with that!
Idk what they would continue with a season 3 cus it's literally a cicle, the series literally ends at its start, perfect without more seasons. They clearly had to run a little to the end in second season and it would maybe move a little slower end more explained if it had 3 seasons. But even rushed, they got to make it perfect! They deserve the credit to successfully ending the cicled story even when it probably wasn't planed to end so rushed. Or it was idk, I just like to defend the no 3 season :)
I have a question for everyone? Does this series need a season 2 reboot because I only watched season 1 and it was the closer to a masterpiece in my opinion but not watched season 2 so that's why I asked that question
Can anyone please recommend mopre hidden gems like this, absolutely no one can match a 100 like Pantheon but I would like myself a 90 or 95. P.S I think Blue Eye samurai is 90 totally different but storytelling execution everything is on point. Thanks
Can anybody tell me is this only a two-season show? And why was it never released on a streaming service for Canada? You don't know how many streaming services supposedly have it and one by one I worked my way through all of them not one had it available for Canada.i had to watch it without being able to do so through a streaming service piracy I mean. I even tried buying it on DVD and the only option to buy it on DVD was bootleg;(. I'm guessing from the ending there's no third season but I'm a little confused if there's a third season or not
The show is only two seasons because AMC chose to cancel it. I believe the decision was made after season two finished production, but before it's release. The cancelation and removal from their streaming service was due to cost cutting over at AMC. As for streaming in other countries, that's likely due to licensing rights issues. Same reason why there are certain shows you can watch on Netflix in the UK but not in the US. Unfortunate that it wasn't available in your country, but I'm glad to hear you were able to watch the series. Even with its ending being rushed, it's still one of the best animated series that's come out in some time.
@@j3omega I've been a little tempted to go so boxing lately. There are a lot of science fiction shows believe it or not that are filmed in Canada and you can't watch them on a streaming service the streaming services there on are not licensed for Canada! Do you know how big a slap in the face it is that American companies are filming shows here in Canada that Canadians can't watch online unless we watch them through a pirate option. Pantheon is one of several dozen series that you can't watch in Canada through a streaming service like AMC and you have to Pirate it from somewhere in order to watch it. Beacon23 was another one that as of yet I can't find on a Canadian streaming service it's getting ridiculous. There are a couple of Doctor Who specials that were connected to the 60th anniversary that you can't stream in Canada unless you can find some place online pirating them as another example I do believe they're going to do a doctor who Britain and Doctor Who for Disney which is why they split it up into two doctors one of them being Trent and the other being the new guy Trent as far as I know was contracted to do quite a few episodes before he got booted back when he originally played the doctor he got into an argument with somebody at this company and he got basically in the snappier fingers fired and written off the show despite being contracted to do another season so as far as I know they're still planning to finish out his original contract where he got brought back in. There's been several Doctor Who actors over the years that got yanked off of the show for pretty bizarre reasons almost overnight.
@peterparker6584 I agree. It's pretty bs the kind of stuff streaming services get away with when it comes to how they treat shows, actors, and viewers. That, along with the fact that shows are so spread out you have to have several memberships to watch what you like, is why I don't really mess with streaming services anymore. I'll buy shows, movies, and merch to support the those who make stuff I enjoy, but I'm not on board with financially supporting companies when they're screwing over the people making worthwhile content that's bringing people in in the first place. Support the creators where you can, and don't feel bad about being a pirate when necessary. 👍
@@j3omega I'm going to give you an example. Star Trek prodigy is not on Paramount in Canada. As far as I know Paramount Canada has Star Trek lower tax and every other Star Trek series including the 1960s but I can't find Prodigy on any streaming service! It's a huge slap in the face that they have all but one Star Trek series on One streaming service. Disney owns So Many intellectual properties it's insane so you'd be surprised how many programs you can get on Disney. I was considering getting a streaming account with Crunchyroll but they pulled something super dirty and cut a lot of us collectors off at the knees. Crunchyroll bought Right Stuff and shut down right stuff completely. What do I mean? Me and a bunch of people used to buy adult Japanese anime DVDs from Right Stuff because they were pretty much the only Outlet you could get it short of getting the stuff bootleg they were the only real legitimate source for anything adult Japanese anime that any of us knew of. And we're Crunchyroll shut the site down and all they carry now is the PG stuff there are no websites left that I'm aware of that carry English dubbed and English subtitled original DVD Japanese anime that is the adult stuff! Everything they carry at right stuff now is the R-rated and lower I know the market wasn't what it was 10 years ago for the adult stuff but still there are a lot of us that don't want to waste money buying pirated DVDs with poor quality. Pretty much any anime DVDs on Amazon or bootlegs same thing with eBay. Only reason I found out is I heard about a anime series of the adult variety and I tried to buy a copy and I found out right stuff's been shut down in regards to the adult stuff there's no worries you can buy it on DVD English dub or English subtitle I've seen Snippets here and there online of the show in English but apparently you can't get it on DVD in English due to the fact nobody carries it and the stuff on eBay is bootlegs from Singapore and China which aren't even quality copies they're very poor low grade copies that are poorly dubbed in English with subtitles LOL they're not even the original subtitle version. So much crap going on with stuff that's available on American streaming services that we can't get in Canada because it's region locked it has nothing to do with licensing. ABC and NBC and Warner Bros last I remember do not offer a streaming service platform for Canada those three streaming services last I was able to ascertain or American only. All their content is reach and locked so you can't access it from Canada HBO last I heard was still not obtainable in Canada as another example. There's a whole bunch of stuff that's on Amazon that is Disney owned but you can't get it on Disney Plus and Amazon is charging 20 and 30 bucks per movie to watch it on their streaming service which is total ass they're literally charging more than going to see it at the theater! It's no wonder that pirating stuff is becoming more popular than it was 15 years ago it's because they're literally making it almost impossible to watch it legitimately. Even physical media is going away to make matters worse. At this point I have around 2 or 3,000 DVDs that I have to sort through and get rid of the stuff I won't watch where I keep getting massive collections of DVDs people throwing them out in Rubbermaid containers cardboard boxes or big garbage bags in some cases I've gotten dozens of DVDs that never even got out of the cellophane and we're still wrapped and unwatched. My relative had no cable and I used to drop them off two and three Rubbermaid containers worth at her place and a couple months later I'd come and pick the container up and drop a few more off. I think I've got nine boxes all together of DVDs and about six or seven DVD racks that I haven't gone through and that's not including my own personal DVD collection of anime that stuff's all sorted LOL it's pretty messed up when you find two or three hundred DVDs and great big see-through bags on the side of the road or one of those great big DVD shelves with about 200 or 300 DVDs on it. I've likewise got a anime VHS collection that I hung on to because each one of the VHS tapes is not available on DVD I've got a hundred or 200 anime titles that were never licensed for a DVD release where they were licensed through American manga and American manga when they went bankrupt anything they own the rights to never got released on DVD only VHS. And some of that stuff you can't even find online yet where nobody's ever uploaded it that I could find
so it goes on and on and on. what about the simulation where they sent david into? do they send a copy of themselves in that world or did the world cease to exist. And why are we saying its a world ? doesnt every ball is reality in itself. why did david say you made a universe? shouldnt it be multiverse?
@@21preend42 Yes true. We don't know much about the big bang, except that it was possibly a singularity. Black holes have singularities at there centre... and super massive black holes will be the last thing to exist in the universe.
Maddie was 14 or 15 and Caspian was 18 years old when they did it, isn't that illegal. Caspian was an adult but Maddie wasn't. That's highly inappropriate.
This person said , "I think that by season 2 Caspain is 19 and Maddie is 16. And I don't think we needed that much backstory for them to end up together. In a story this complex you have to assume that most romantic situations happened in the background." Also, they were trying to save the world together and were together with each other a lot and got to know each other more. And i don't think its bad, he didn't take advantage of her, it was once when he was leaving this world forever. To me their relationship seems very natural.
Huh, never thought about it that way before
Although that then begs the question how that specifying strings of incident differ in their origin universe (non-simulated)
I really thought the girls were matching maddies movements to make fun of her.
@@Enomaru001 You're not wrong for thinking that! But I definitely think it's a nod to the greater picture in the show
I really liked how everything felt like it escalated so quickly towards the end, it felt like a paralel to the nature of technology and the never ending search for knowdlege that only seem to grow exponentially.
@@FzBlade land of lustrous fan here
@@FzBlade Same!
Such a awesome show. I wish it never got cancelled
Technically, Amazon saved the series from cancellation. However, it's only officially released on Prime Video in Australia and New Zealand. Let’s hope it reaches an official release on streaming outside of those two countries.

True, but it also depends on what VPN brand you're getting.@@fishscalecocaine
@@fishscalecocainebut it needs correct marketing. I only heard about the show from a UA-cam channel begging people to watch because it’s so good. Should fit with Amazon’s more adult animation. Only would have preferred keeping the show going and season two wasn’t compressed to reach an ending. Still great and hope people catch on over the years.
Lol, me too. I think most people, who watched it did it because of that author
This show was so dope, that ending completely took me off guard.
Maddie goes full Zima Blue
Love death and robots.
Underrated comment.
Yes!!
So, just a correction here. There was NOT more than two seasons expected by the writers. The writers have confirmed they intended the series to end at two seasons all along, based on the stories it's from. What DID happen was that Season 2 was almost cancelled, so the studio could have a tax write-off. It was Amazon Australia the bought and released the full show.
i think it was a good ending...felt a bit rushed, but made sense
lets be glad we had an ending at all lol, someshows get milked into trash or non sense
this one, played all it's concepts and tied the knot
Can't really think of anything they should've added. Only thing i wonder is if the Israeli and Iranian dudes were alright in the end
I think the time jumps were disorienting, and existential, which I think was purposeful and to the shows benefit
TBH i don't if the show needed more seasons, those were 2 of the most tidiest most perfect seasons of any show!
So I just finished binge watching season 2 at 3am.
Those last two episodes really were insane and awesome, on a totally different level.
And now I can't sleep.

I understand their issues with it, I personally didn't have any issues because they were truly so genuine to eachother. To each their own.
@@Hakajin Exactly it did not seem like Caspian was taking advantage of her, they were just trying to fix the world and int he process feel in love.
This also goes back to what the mom said when they’re playing the game at the beginning
What’s the fun in playing if they’re just gonna respawn
SOMA has the same ideology. If you haven't played it yet, i highly recommend it to try
@@Mamedullinyeah I agree, I've see a walkthrough of it online.
The ending left me feeling so empty with a bit of existentialism
tell me, was this scene depressing, what did you think of the ending?
I think it needed another season. The ending to me was sad but I get just wanting a normal life in the end after everything they’ve been through.
@ToonDad444 so true, man. I actually get some weak form of depression after watching this show
After watching the whole show I'm really trying to catch my breath. It's all so incredible but also overwhelming somehow.
That safesurf also might not be the real world. They admit still learning. Which means it is 'upper' world than Maddie, but not 'real'
I dont get how sufesurf became such a big thing. Like i know they explained it, but its so random to me. I get the story though
or you know, the series isnt told from iteration zero just kinda like how you briefly mentioned how there were "glitches in the matrix"
you can assume that in each recursion that there were deviations/discrepancies that an outside observer caused. like giving her the genius ideas at each "inflection" point.
much like how Caspian experienced.
it wasnt a total and direct copy of Phineas' experience, he mustve made it more efficient the second time round to get to the answer of integrity.
same thing must have occurred for Maddie, how her mission was to maximise happiness in her life. she inflects the changes she needs to get the best outcomes.
just like how you would replay a video game exploring all your options, and then in the next iteration you have your preferred "destined" actions.
This is why i love certain art, when they arent cowards and do what they want with the endings
10:56 they made the son to make sure that maddie wouldn't find love during the 20 years time jump, its a technique that producer use sometime
that makes a lot of sense
Appreciate it!
Seems like there was supposed to be more in the middle. Like, I feel like there was supposed to be a post time-skip season where Dave played a bigger role and Maddie and Caspian have to deal with living in different worlds and the now reversed age gap.
Yes!
Why would you make the thumbnail a massive spoiler? Anyone who scrolls past it and catches a glance is instantly spoiled

Probably some shrooms and a tool album
It’s not quantum physics.
new favorite show of all time. it was perfect in my eyes. loved the ending. MWAH IM IN THE FEELS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is some of the highest levels of sci-fi story crafting.🤯
Life changing. A true work of art. More people need this…
abt the age gape, it made me uncomfortable too but they probably retconned her age bc they probably didnt plan for them to get together until later seasons and proof of that is that she has a drivers licence??? she has to be at least 16 in s2 for that and the made it clear that they kept caspian at 18.
She was showing signs of knowing programming in episode of season one
She also can learn to make the universe with enough time to learn in the virtual world like several characters did.
Also, it's only 20 years in the future, and they slowly went digital, so they are literally going to have limitations because building in the real world takes time
It’s crazy how the show started and were it ended, amazing!
The lack of physical experience would be mitigated by the robots. You'd be able to walk around just as well if not actually better because of the hydraulic systems, possible flight and swimming upgrades... Uploading is the way to go.
Season 2 was like Maddie's dyson sphere lot's of story(universes) inside a single season. Should have been 3 or more seasons would be much appreciated
I always shipped maddie and caspian, there was so much tensión between the two since they met
I don't quite understand it yet. Was the "real" world that we started to see in the first season also a simulation within the Grand simulation, or was that not a simulation?
If the former was already a simulation, did we ever see the real world?
Simulation entire time
Just like our world
According to the creators, it was always planned to be two seasons. At some point, only the premiere of the second season was cancelled.
I believe that the 20 year time skip Is fine, I believe that the point of the show wasn't about the life you have, it's what humanity can achieve and the hardships we might experience along away
I was so happy they brought David back in the end. He is my fav character but why didn't they bring back Laurie 😭
You do know if you upload this version you will be dead and your upload is a copy
I'm just ELATED the series stuck the landing. AN AMBITIOUS LANDING but they did it anyway. #PANTHEONisLOVE
@@beeb2761 Wait so she gained data and information from people, and then went back to the real world to build the space stuff?
Guys I want to know why David forgot everything when MIST asked him about what happened, after he told Elen why he was resurrected. Also, I want to make sure which simulation Maddie and Caspian ended up getting into. Is it the one we have been watching for the past two seasons, and nothing will be changed, they'll simply relive the nightmare, or is it the simulation that Maddie and Caspian get a happy life? This means so much to me. If anyone can answer it, I'd really appreciate.
And yes, it is comforting to think that Maddie is capable of doing that.
thank you for making this vid
Yes, I thank him too!!!
So she had the all the power, like the Matrix's Architech, but in the end all she wanted was to live in the Matrix like Cypher, but with her Neo.
I hate how everyone wanted to commit suicide 😒
My thoughts too
This show was incredible and it's complexity rivals Dark, I loved it and I hope a season 3 is made.
Everyone who watched
this is connected in some way . I loved
This show it altered my mind
why after living thousands of years as human would I choose again to live through it, unless after my death I regain godhood
Awesome video by the way
Thanks!
This series was perfect. That's literally it
I don't know if anyone knows this but season one is on Netflix now
Idk what they would continue with a season 3 cus it's literally a cicle, the series literally ends at its start, perfect without more seasons.
What an insane ending
Definitely going to have to rewatched to take everything in
I have a question for everyone? Does this series need a season 2 reboot because I only watched season 1 and it was the closer to a masterpiece in my opinion but not watched season 2 so that's why I asked that question
Can anyone please recommend mopre hidden gems like this, absolutely no one can match a 100 like Pantheon but I would like myself a 90 or 95. P.S I think Blue Eye samurai is 90 totally different but storytelling execution everything is on point. Thanks
Check out the show Space Dandy and if you don't like that then the movie suzume no tojimari could be another option
I can't be the only one who liked this show but thought it got worse with the time skips starting with the 20 years later one.
Episode 7 and 8 should be 3rd season. I don't mind if the show just have 3 season but feels complete
bruh lmao , at exactly 0:48 i said glitch in the matrix the same time you did LOL
i guess another glitch in the matrix
Caspian said he was 18 when Maddie was around 16
Yeah it just didn't make sense rushed to conclusion
We are definitely in a simulation 🤯
So if this show never got canceled we would have had more seasons? Will it explored the origins of the children of UI we see after the time skip?
I didn't expect the ending
Pls where Can i see scavengers reign on grand Line if you know What i mean
@@peterparker6584just watch it on pirate sites, its also free, so why not
I'd upload if thay fixed the glitch and the computing problem. I fear a lot of stuff and I'd like to be smarter
Bro no noo nooooo season 2 ending still is rushed you can feel it in last 2 episode
Cancelled?
Yet
Power of the ring
Velma
That 90's show
Remain.
I thought amazon prime saved the show! So will there be any season 3??
It never end
The ending is a bit rushed. And it made everything from season 1 insignificant.
Hey thanks.
Amazon bought this show.
It's complex the explanation more complex too
this is crazier than crack and cocaine
User Interface people losing there minds 😅🙈 uploaded intelligence come on 🙈
so it goes on and on and on. what about the simulation where they sent david into? do they send a copy of themselves in that world or did the world cease to exist. And why are we saying its a world ? doesnt every ball is reality in itself. why did david say you made a universe? shouldnt it be multiverse?
Adore this series
a base reality does not and will never exist. the universe is creating itself forever and ever again and again.
Maybe
This feels like the life and suffering of sir brante
No it's not. Energy cannot be created. This is why entropy is a thing!
The arrow of time determines that the universe will one day run out of energy.
@@freedom_born maybe, although the universe is is proof enough that energy can be created, but perhaps it can only be done in a very specific way.
@@21preend42
Yes true. We don't know much about the big bang, except that it was possibly a singularity. Black holes have singularities at there centre... and super massive black holes will be the last thing to exist in the universe.
Nooo the dyson sphere is created by the safs search in the REAL world..otherwise how would maddie gain that energy inside a simulation????
Maddie was 14 or 15 and Caspian was 18 years old when they did it, isn't that illegal. Caspian was an adult but Maddie wasn't. That's highly inappropriate.
This person said ,
"I think that by season 2 Caspain is 19 and Maddie is 16. And I don't think we needed that much backstory for them to end up together. In a story this complex you have to assume that most romantic situations happened in the background."
Also, they were trying to save the world together and were together with each other a lot and got to know each other more. And i don't think its bad, he didn't take advantage of her, it was once when he was leaving this world forever. To me their relationship seems very natural.
I hope uploading becomes real soon
