It started off as a meme or a random joke I could be a random meme like anything, but DaFuqBoom decided to continue and slowly turned it into a series with lore. The story is about some alien toilets who sing a song to turn humans into those toilets, it's the parody of brainrot itself. The lore is still vry unclear but it still looks a lot like a parody of real life, of how we are getting worse and worse because of phones, internet and stuff. In symbolism, Skibidi toilets are the brainrotten people, those who only scroll on social medias, Astro toilets are the memes, the Alliance are AIs and the humans are the people who aren't "brainrotten". That's why they're so rare. and DaFuqBoom is God, the Chair is the prophet. I mean that's the symbolism, it's not what the story is actually about.

Honestly, a good example of a rebooted show with this same scenario done right would be the anime, Osomatsu-San. That anime used to literally be aimed towards children during the 60s/80s, and the third reboot made in 2016 featured the then kid characters as 20-something year old adults where the humor was a lot, and I mean, a LOT more adult. But even as the brothers became more crude, mean-spirited, and vulgar where they constantly attempt to stab one another in the back (sometimes literally), each of them are not a copy/paste version of each other and each have their own different personalities, characteristics and even redeeming wholesome moments. The animation also is not always the same look, as they sometimes do a complete 180 out of nowhere and show some pretty cool artistic sequences. This is just to say that a reboot to a show in this fashion can be done if done right. But of course what do you expect from today’s Hollywood?

I still feel left out for being born in 2007, and watching all the more modern episodes compared to the older ones. I have in fact seen the older episodes, and they do not compare at all. They are so much better. Pizza Delivery IS my favorite episode in particular, due to it showing us a great dynamic between Spongebob and Squidward, showing us that, yes, Squidward DOES like Spongebob to a degree. He has a heart. And I feel like that really taints the new episodes now, because now the writing for the characters shows us that their personalities are their characters. Patrick is stupid? Well then he cannot make coherent sentences and makes the worst decisions in the world. Spongebob is happy? Then he'll be happy no matter what, even if it's a situation that WOULD go too far. Squidward is a grump who dislikes Spongebob and Patrick's antics? Well then he's a dick that hates EVERYONE. When in reality, their personalities would fit more into a "Yeah I'm usually like this" category. Spongebob IS a very gleeful and cheery character, but he has a LOT of moments. He can get mad, get worried for the rest of Bikini Bottom in case he makes a mistake and is fully aware of it. Patrick was always dumb, but he still had SOME intelligence in him. He felt confident in the things he did, despite the fact that they were likely things that could get him sent to jail, or just plain dumb. But he's always been there for Spongebob, trying his hardest to be his best friend. Squidward hates Spongebob and Patrick, but as I explained earlier, he still has a heart. The "I have no soul" line from the Krabby Patty episode was simply just a really funny gag that the writers made to have Squidward be aware of his grumpy-nature, while still being funny. He cares for Spongebob's well being and will stand up for him. Another great example is in the episode where Mr. Krabs is threatened by the Flying Dutchman that if he continues to be cheap, he'll be sent to Davey Jone's locker. After he sold Spongebob off for 62 cents, Squidward went HAM on Mr. Krabs, telling him how Spongebob stood up for him and did his best to make sure Mr. Krabs wouldn't be taken away, and how he should be ashamed of himself for what he did. Modern Squidward would never do that. He'd just celebrate Spongebob's disappearance because "The problem is gone hooray."
