- Wolfpack Berserker gameplay in Tarroch's Tomb (NG+2 Elite)
Arguably the most OP Berserker build in Torchlight 2, the Wolfpack Berserker tears mobs to shreds within milliseconds. It's so good that it's probably too OP for vanilla/unmodded Torchlight 2.

Just rebooted TL2 for a proper playthrough this time. For my HC char I created a berserker and went in blind deliberately; just beat the game on normal with lvl 48 and did a first map; your video has made it clear I still have a lot to do fortunately :)
Glad to hear you're enjoying the game. Maybe I should make a HC character as well. Haven't tried it yet. 🤓
HCE without any gear given is literally the only way to play this game with it not being boring.
Nice Build
Miss this game
Play Again
👌
man, this inspired me to play TL2 again and maybe try to upload it. nice build too
Thank you. Yeah, this game never gets old.
@@cyclingcmdr yes indeed! even the first one it's still fun! I still remember my Destroyer becoming very op due to the effect of the heirloom mechanic of the game. sadly it got deleted in my old pc.
@@nurkoleptik_art Same. My Alchemist save file is gone forever. It's still my favorite class across both games.
@@cyclingcmdr feelsbadman :( alch used to be my favorite with the summoer build but it got too complicated for me lol
Should i go to plus mode? or just keep farming the Mapwork? I'm currently level 61...
GG
You see how your character looks extremely cool? I took my Embermage to New Game+, but I have trouble finding a set that looks and plays well. Is there a guide I could look at for where to farm to get good looking well-functional gear on unmodded TL2?
Hi. Most of these were farmed in Tarroch's Tomb in NG+ Act 2. I don't seek out specific gear to farm. I just mix and match whatever drops that both look good and are functional.
Play with Savage Rush (all in Focus & good damage staff) until Wolfpack, that way is easier than Storm Hatchet way. Bosses are joke to Savage Rush, mobs too exept ranged archers and such, but you'll get Ice Shield for that.
Where did u get the 5% dmg red?
Hi again, close to finish the the storyline and I had so much fun playing with Wolfpack berserker. How and where did you farm your gears? Does the enchantment scale base on what level your character is? The higher the level, the stronger the enhancement? Which socketer do I need to find in order to socket an item more than 2? Apologies for a lot of questions.
You can farm gear from the Avoid the Lava phase beast challenge in Act3. I did a video on how to effectively farm it. Enchantments scale based on the item level. The socketeer's name is Jurrick. He spawns randomly in the Frosted Hills map, as well as the dungeon with mushroom monsters.
@@cyclingcmdr Do I need to be in a specific NG+ in order to farm the area very effectively?
@@rorahona You get higher level items (gear and skulls) with higher NG+'s.
@@cyclingcmdr Thank you
Love the outside the box build. What's your total cast speed added? Didn't catch it on the stat screens. Also, how important is the % to fully heal on kill? I'm going to give a run through to this build on easy before i try to HC elite run it.
Hi. Glad you liked it. Total cast speed from equipment is +62%. The % chance to fully heal on kill isn't that important since this build is a ranged attacker. It just nice to have because it can be a lifesaver whenever I get too careless.
I'm using Storm Hatchet, Howl's. What will I use until ice shield? thank you
Hi. Just continue using Storm Hatchet while grinding for Iceshield. Storm Hatchet will be your main offensive skill until you unlock Wolfpack.
Oh thanks for the vid. It is very helpful.
I am the beginner. Can you recommend emberquake enginner or wolfpack berserker I am using Synergies Mod.
If I remember correctly, both Wolfpack and Emberquake can be unlocked early in Synergies mod. That said, you're free to choose whichever is fun for you. Both are strong builds.
Without Synergies, I recommend the Emberquake build. It's an easier early game grind due to Healbot and Forcefield.
@@cyclingcmdr I picked the Emberquake. Appreciate your answer😁😁😁😁😁
How do you level this build
How are you supposed to distribute attributes in this build? Im new to the game and this seems intresting
Glad you liked it. Stat distribution is rather straightforward. I put most of it into offensive stats (Strength or Focus), and then allocate the rest depending on the stat requirements of equipment that I want to use.
@@cyclingcmdr thanks for the answer, but doesnt every gear piece in this game allow you to equip it at certain level even without hitting stat requirements?
Also why no vit ? Diablo 2 taught me that More HP is always good thing to have as the more time you eill be alive the more time you will have to deal damage, plus armor rating in this game seems actually important.
@@tomaszpawlik5091 Being able to equip high-level gear early can be fun sometimes. Also, there are end-game armor sets that have level requirements that exceed the max level of characters in the game, which means that the only way to equip them is to meet their stat requirements.
Armor values and Vitality in this game don't scale well as you progress through higher difficulties or New Game Pluses. Having 100-something base Vitality is still good, especially for shield users. But anything higher would be considered a waste of stat points. There are 2 farmable gems that are better at making characters more tanky: Skull of Limoany and Skull of Riechlu.
Limoany gives 5% total damage reduction and can be stacked to achieve 75% reduction. Riechlu gives +1540 HP. Vitality gives way less HP per stat point invested.
why do you use shred armor? does that apply to wolfpack?
Hi. Sorry for the late response. If I remember correctly, Shred Armor does apply to Wolfpack. But the range is quite limited. And so, feel free to skip it if you think it might not be worth the skill point investment.
What do you think of battle standard?
Hi. Battle Standard is a pretty good skill. It's quite useful especially for Berserkers that need more mana regen to sustain their skill usage.
Do u know how should i lvl this? at the beginning of tl2 its rough to lvl a zerker up ^^ what do i farm in terms of progression from the start to finish. or should i rather start a ravage zerker first to get the start easier done since it seems like that wolfpack needs more gear.
You are correct. Wolfpack Berserker is slightly more gear-dependent. It needs mana regen items in order to sustain Wolfpack's high mana cost. In the early game, the first priority is crafting Void embers with mana regen, and finding gems or weapons with mana steal. Once you have enough, you'll be able to spam Storm Hatchet without worrying about mana.
If you choose the Ravage berserker route, you only need lifesteal items in the early game. Shadow Burst will also help you survive longer in battle. It's a must-have skill for first time berserkers.
@@cyclingcmdr The thing is i take way more dmg compared to the playthrough of tl2 elite berserker i watch atm. but maybe hes lying about his difficulty^^
@@Hauminiad Skulls of Limoany are the best gems for defense. They give 5% damage reduction. 15 of these can reduce damage by 75%, making a character quite tanky even in Elite difficulty. Engineers and Berserkers have a natural 25% damage reduction, and so they only need 10 Skulls of Limoany to get the 75% reduction.
@@cyclingcmdr is there a specific farmspot or does it even matter? Also i am just lvl 12 right now and tried to figure out why the other guy does take less dmg without those skulls. yea and i forgot about them. still thanks again!
@@Hauminiad You can start farming them in New Game Plus by doing the phase beast challenge at the Frosted Hills map in Act 1. They only drop in NG+, specifically. Higher levels of NG++ won't drop these skulls.
hello i just started this build how many str how many foc will be distributed thank you
Get 100 Strength as soon as possible to make the early game grind more bearable. After that you can put points onto other stats depending on the stat requirements of items you want to equip. In the late game, you should strive to raise Strength to 1000 via gear or enchantments before putting the remainder of your points into Focus.
Love the way end game looks for this build. NG+ and up. But leveling a berserker with this build is not fun.
You got nothing until level 14, and after that only storm hatchet that will make you go OOM in a few seconds.
On elite or even veteran difficulty, until you get wolfpack, it's a massive pain in the behind to level up.
Because wolfpack becomes available so late your first playthrough is a very bad experience.
Yeah, it was a miserable grind. Unlocking Wolfpack at level 42 didn't make it go away. Wolfpack only starts to become worthwhile at level 5 with the first tier bonus. 😹
@@cyclingcmdr I did find a nice leveling weapon for this build. Grom's Fireblade. It's one of those special blue uniques.
If you get the one from ng+ it's a 499dps 1h sword that requires 88 FOCUS to equip. So you can equip this very early on.
Enough dps for leveling with Storm Hatchet. The version from ng++ is probably good enough to use later on as well.
Storm Hatchet is based on weapon damage, but Wolfpack isn't. So I think you could go all focus no strength for this build.
edit: some of the other gear though, does require some str and dex. You would need specific enchants.
can i know the all skill u add how much on every skill point video look cant see all...
Hi. I also posted the skill allocation in the video description. You can find it here:
tidbi.ru/eng/berserker.php?lvl=100&fm=32&skill=0F0000010A00F0A00F00000F00F6FF&stat=apapafafaaaaaaaa
are you using any mods?
Excuse me for asking, but I'm quite new to the game. Why does almost every Berserker build have maxed out Storm Hatchet?
At high levels, Storm Hatchet can instantly fill up the Berserker's charge bar in one cast allowing the Berserker to be in frenzy state all the time.
@@cyclingcmdr Oh man, I recklessly invested in Dex...
@@kevinwang1783 It's okay. Berserkers need Dex, too.
want to play with me? I am new too
Hello i'm sorry to bore you. Priority points go to power or focus?
Power, definitely. 🤓
@@cyclingcmdr str 4 foc 1 or 3 2
I raise my stats depending on the items that I want to use. That means there are levels where I just go pure Strength. Sometimes I add Dex if I find a weapon that requires it. But to answer your question, I say 4 str 1 foc.
Would you say this is the most fun build you've made?
Yes, it is. I had a blast playing it.
can u tell me abot the stat destribution
Hi. Get Strength to 100 as soon as possible. Then put points onto other stats depending on the stat requirements of items that you want to equip. The main offensive stat is Strength. Only put points on Focus if you plan to equip weapons that trigger spells like Glacial Spike or Meteor Strike.
New player here how do you reset your stat points in this game??
Respect potion?
Why so much focus? is anything using magic damage?
Yes, both Storm Hatchet and Wolfpack also benefit from having Focus.
@@cyclingcmdr thanks for your response, can you explain how i do not see it especially with wolf pack being a physical attack.
@@cyclingcmdr also could you explain how cold steel mastery works and where it is coming into play here please
@@ryangallagher5506 Wolfpack has 2 components: the DPS part and the physical damage part. The "Physical Damage" component of Wolfpack is actually Focus-based. The DPS component is Strength-based.
Also, having Focus increases the elemental damage enchantment of weapons. It also boosts the damage of spelltriggers like Glacial Spike and Scalding Geyser.
Tbh, it's the Glacial Spike from Hammer of Retribution that makes this build OP. When you cast Wolfpack, each wolf has a 25% chance to trigger Glacial Spike per enemy.
What's the stat distribution?
Hi. I showed the stat distribution at 10:52 . It's 250 for both Strength and Focus, 25 Dex and 5 Vit.
@@cyclingcmdr I must be blind thank you!
I keep having mana issues with this build - how should i deal with that
I too struggled when I first unlocked Wolfpack. The most convenient solution is to equip lots of mana regen socketables. Void Embers are great for that. The transmuter in town can also create them, albeit randomly.
The Concentration scroll that's sold in town (randomly) also grants mana regen.
If you have excess skill points, you can put it on the "Battle Standard" Berserker skill.
Once you get to NG++, you can hunt for a Skull of Trenkay or a Skull of Whorlbarb.
@@cyclingcmdr thanks for the insight! I can definitely look into farming the said skulls but i couldnt help but notice you weren't running those in your build. What is generating all that mana for you in the video?
@elliot lim I do have Concentration and two Skulls of Whorlbarb equipped in the video. Also, I read somewhere that the base mana regen of characters is proportional to their max mana. In other words, as you increase your mana capacity, your mana regen increases by a proportional amount.
@@cyclingcmdr thanks! what other spells do you have equipped besides concentration?
@@TheDarthBush If i remember correctly, Dervish, Adrenaline Shock, and Weapon Expertise.
Please make Outlander build 😊😊😊
Will do. I'm currently researching its skill tree.
Can't wait
Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate it.
Hi new player here. Wondering how to level this character? I’m also playing in veteran..
Hi. The early game grind is quite straightforward -- Your main skillset would consist of Storm Hatchet, Howl, and Ice Shield. Before you reach level 42, it's going to play like a ranged spellcaster spamming Storm Hatchet from a distance.
As for gear, focus on acquiring mana regen or mana steal items, so you can sustain Wolfpack's high mana requirement at level 42 and beyond.
@@cyclingcmdr I have been getting used to the game on a different character but i’m itching to get back to my berserker. thank you SO much for this reply it means a lot you have no idea.
should i pump my early skill points in vitality? i’m just dying so fast and wasting all my gold on mana potions. i have unlocked storm hatchet and my only complaint is i lack AOE. other than that i will definitely grind this guy and look for gear for him on my other characters.
I’m not far on veteran at all, only at the ice place. Would it be worth it to just restart using frozen breath and making the most of my skill points?
@@LixxLixx Hi. Frost Breath is a bit underwhelming damage-wise. If you need an AoE skill so badly, you can use Eviscerate. It deals very good splash damage.
And if you find yourself dying a lot, you may want to check out Shadow Burst. It deals damage and also heals, which is nice. Putting points into Vitality in the early game is also okay.
Hi>
Skull of Vastok increase DPS?
Yes. It increases the damage done by DPS-based skills.
@@cyclingcmdr which one better between using Vellinque Skull and Skull of Vastok for DPS?
@@BlueVoltageBlader Having both slotted in a weapon is the best; Definitely better than slotting in just one skull type.
@@cyclingcmdr usually i slotted 2 Rambren Skull and 2 Skull of Whorlbarb, in Nether Weapons, last night i try Embermage with using Dual HackHack with 4 Skull of Vastok (melee Embermage with auto Eviscerate) but seem not that good, because cant use passive brands perfectly (HackHack only have Fire and Ice), u got any solution?
Edit: If Only i have full Celestial Sets seem its wont be an issue
@@BlueVoltageBlader Hammer of Retribution has all the elements.
With the way you play in the video, Red Wolf skill is almost useless.
