Awesome! I've already learnt a lot of tricks and useful stuff with Mike but I'll love to get the basics too since all I know about audio editing was by trial and error.
It's still the same amazing microphone. The SM stands for shock mount which is the holder that contains the microphone if you'd like to attach it to a boom arm or tripod. You may have made a saving buying this way and cal always buy the shock mount separately I'm sure.
Mike, thank you so much for the awesome videos. I love the pace and the pro tips shared for free. Your channel is an absolute treasure and I am sure will take my audio production to the next level. God bless!
I just bought the AUDIO TECHNICA AT4033a after seeing some of the equipment you use. It's only after that I noticed that it was the AT4033a instead of the ASM. Would you know what the difference is. Have I just bought something rubbish?
Mike, I love the feature where you can mark the file as you are recording. I am recording directly into an audio recorder (Roland R-05). Do you know if there are any audio recorders that allow you do have the same functionality of marking while recording? Thanks for your help!
Hey Mike, just stumbled onto this video. I’m going through my audio for my podcast but I see that you’re using Waveform view. I was trying to add these shortcuts into my favorites but I’m editing my and my co-host audio inside of multitrack view. Any suggestions on how to add keyboard shortcuts to multitrack view?
Hi Mike been trawling the web for info. this is great. As a beginner any guidance on which version of Audition I should purchase also what type of microphone I should you. Thanks Paul
You are absolutly Insane , i just watch like 30 videos in 2 hours. I would like to ask you how you can make the Battlefield or others video game trailers . When it's like they take a nade and big sound drop and after its like they are in water .(everything going into a slom motion ) then back to normal speed and normal sound . basicly a drop +underwater effect then go back to reality sound . (this effect used in most of -action movies aswell)
Hi Mike, very useful collection of videos and I thank you for sharing. I have a question. I like to hear podcasts and audiobooks in my car. The problem is that the mp3 files are nornally 15 minutes long and if I turn off the car, when I start again, the mp3 player starts in the beginning of the file instead of for example, minute 9. Is there a way I can easily divide a sound file in 5 equal parts and Adobe Audition save in a batch kind of way to 5 different sequence files. Thanks in advance.
Mike Russell Ok great! Thank you so much for responding. I have been freaking out trying to learn how to record and edit my show in Adobe CC. It’s a little intimidating. I have been using Audacity. Your videos have been a great help. Thank you.
I am learning Audition to edit a 3-Mic podcast. I'm sure I will learn a lot from your tutorials, but the immediate issue I notice is that I am using Audition 3.0 and do not have the same layout/options as I'm seeing in this video. Do these tutorials apply to Ver 3.0?
Thanks for watching Kevin Reilly. The same principles apply. Adobe Audition 3.0 is quite old now but I do have some tutorials at the start of my channel using 3.0. Hope they help :)
hi Mike - this is quite an old video so perhaps things have changed. As someone new to Audition I have been watching dozens of videos on how to use it, and I find it really confusing thus frustrating that half of the experts say record in Audio file and the other half say - NO, never record in Audio File as you might easily lose it, always record in Multitrack. Perhaps it doesn't matter that much as you can always switch between the two - I get that. Or may be not. Can you record in either view and then switch to the other without any restrictions? When I am learning something new, I like to follow ONE unambiguous set of instructions. What are your thoughts?
You can record wherever suits you best. If you’re recording just yourself then you can record in the waveform view and if you’re recording a multi-person podcast you could record in multitrack with each person recording to a separate track if your audio hardware supports. As long as you save your recordings it doesn’t matter whether you record waveform or multitrack.
@@MikeRussell thanks! LOVE your tutorial videos BTW Audition has a steep learning curve even for someone doing audio editing for years (on another DAW), maybe because it's much more advanced and sophisticated comparing to other DAWs 🙂
Thanks Bob, each webinar session gets progressively more advanced. Something to look forward to!
Excellent tutorial Mike. I'm just starting out with Audition and have found your videos extremely helpful and easy to follow.
Thanks Mike ! I was so frustrated looking for a clear concise video on the basics of Adobe 3.0. This was EXACTLY what I was looking for! I'm a fan!
I think I hear what you need and can plan an epic video on this at some point. Thanks for asking the question!

Vocoding is certainly something I plan to cover in the future.
That's great Fernando. We'll advance to more interesting features in the future episodes of the webinar.

Keyboard shortcuts can also be set for the multitrack as well
Dude! Thanks so much for making this channel! It really helps me! Thanks again!

HELP! When i put a sample into the daw, the sample slides instead of moving in steps, how can i get the sample to move in steps?
Check out the video on Audition for beginners to learn the different modes available
How can you record in stereo through focusrite 2i2, it seems like you can only record in mono..
Mike I have a question. My podcast sounds real "open" as if I am in a big room. What settings would I adjust for this in adobe audition?
Mike I have a question. Do the same edits work in multitrack sessions?
You can do most edits in multitrack apart from restoration work which is best done in waveform.

Mike, Do you use Screenflow to record your tutorials? If so how to you condition your sound for UA-cam?
