Great tutorial (as always)... Jason, is there a way to equalize the voice to give it a richer deeper tone of voice (like a radio show host) since in my case, most recordings with usb mikes sound flatter than normal? Thanks
Holy cow!? I spent the last few hours trying to listen to what I recorded... Don’t forget to hit “R” in the interview box, it’ll save you some heart ache. Thank you!
I have a Samson Q2U microphone. In minute 2:18 you said you choose mono option due to a mono single channel mono microphone. How do I know what should I choose?
Great tutorial Jason, thank you. Curious, I have Audition and Ableton 10 lite. Is there a way to use these together at the same time, like for background music/beats or is it best to just import a recording of the music in to Audition as a separate track after you record your Podcast?
When I follow this (great info by the way) I have a big problem - the noise floor is raised whenever I am not talking - like at the end of sentences or when pausing for a thought. What do I do to remove that or what am I doing wrong?
Amazing tutorial Jason! I'm very happy with the results this has brought for me. Thanks to this my skills have developed a lot and I'm now working at a very large tech company :)
If I have a person I'm interviewing for a podcast who is in a different location, how can I put their audio into one of the tracks as we're recording the conversation?
If possible, you'd want to find a way to allow Skype or your chosen video client to act as one of the input devices mentioned in the beginning of the video. There should be a way to do this on your respective machine, just look up how to record someone's audio from (insert your video chat client here).
I'm recommending Zoom. The free version of the app allows for separation of each participant into their own audio file. On your end, you would want to be recording yourself with Audition or another DAW, even QuickTime on a Mac. Later, you combine your high quality recording of yourself, with the ones recorded from Zoom. Participants can communicate with you via PC/Mac/Mobile.
My friend and I do a podcast remotely - shameless plug: workitpod.com - and in our case we each record our own side of the conversation and line them up in recording software. BUT if you're talking to someone who can't/won't record their own side of the call AND you're on a Mac, this app is fantastic for routing different signals to different MP3s: rogueamoeba.com/audiohijack/. Good luck!
good stuff I've been using the recorder in Anchor but it only lets you record for up to 30 mins at a time which can spoil the flow of the pod starting and stopping with the occasional recording mishap of not recording anything at all lol! Since I have adobe creative cloud I figured I should give it a try, So I will try this on my episode #23 of the "Your probably right "podcast. thanks! P.S if sounds worse then on #24 I'll go back to status quo. hopefully they accept a bit rate as I am a bitrate junky
Thank you very much! One question: I have the Rode NT USB Mic and when I monitor my recording level... I see that it's very low... so more "dark green" than "yellow". Can I do something about it in the software? Because I can't get any closer with my head so that it's "louder" while I'm recording. Thank you in advance!
Hi! You should be able to adjust the input levels using the steps described in this community post: adobe.ly/3A8mYwf Let us know if that helps you get more input while recording. ^CS
Me and my guest recorded our podcast on a multitrack session and saved the project. Only to find the media offline when opening the project back up. The only media I can relink is the music bed track because it is an audio file. I think it’s something to do with multitrack sessions aren’t actually audio files even when you record your voice. So if I want to relink media it only gives me the option to link a .sesx file which doesn’t work.
One question - if I connect my Behringer X12 through the USB to my Windows computer, will Audition see it? I will have my mics connected to the Behringer. Thank you.
hi there , where cool edit pro 1.2 saves my own created equalizer and parametric equalizer settings ? and if it is just some type of modifications by 1 and 0 how to determine the changed files which contains my new eq and peq settings ? i want clear detailed answers please , thanks a lot in advance

Sounds like a feedback, most common your speakers hit your microphone, which takes the signal back to the speakers, again to the microphone, to the speakers, mic, and so on... So you should deactivate monitoring (as Jason shows on 2:45min) or use headphones.
My timeline is limited to only 4 mins in muti track session how may I increase the time line duration? Also shall I record podcast in multi track or is there any other way to do the same?
Using the Podcast Template made my recording a bad experience. Whenever I break in between sentences, it highlights the noise or even my breathing. Versus adding tracks after recording. I used the trial version of Audition with the latest version as of this writing.
I finally got my podcast(called Brothers Who Spoon) on iTunes(I had just been uploading it to youtube before). Do you think I should also put it on audacity, or is audacity more a creation tool than a place where people listen?
Why did he choose the default output to also be the microphone. when I do that I cant play back my audio because its trying to put it to my mic. Can someone explain?
Alex, I think what you'll find is that he's using the Focusrite audio interface. This interface let's you plug in microphone(s) and you can also plug in speakers or headphones so you can listen to yourself.
I am using a Audio Techina 2100 mic, When I select that to be my default input and default output I can record but when I want to play back the audio It is silent. when I change the default output to my computer speaker I can hear it. Can someone explain what I am doing wrong that I can not hear my play back when it is in the tutorials setting?
So if you're not using an external audio interface to record/listen to sound, then the configuration that you chose of Input: AT 2100 and Output: Computer speakers is going to be your best option. Additionally, the AT 2100 has a headphone jack on the bottom I believe. So you could use that as for listening as well.
Best, "How To", UA-cam I've ever watched. Clear, concise, and packed with information. Great job, well done!
Just got tasked with running a podcast. Found this tutorial and I feel confident enough to make it happen now. Thanks 🙏
Right on, what’s your podcast?
Going to watch this again when my mic works and then ready to record and start my podcast. Thanks for this clear tutorial.
Beautiful voice! Clear instruction! Easy to follow! Thank you!

You could mess with the EQ in the effects tab

Brilliant exposition! Thanks. I wonder if you could also export directly in mp3 instead of creating the wav file.
Precise and to the point. That was a great job!
This is great stuff, I salute. Easy to follow.
Nice Content. I have a question: If you have two Speakers in the same room, do you have both voices on both lines?
When I follow this (great info by the way) I have a big problem - the noise floor is raised whenever I am not talking - like at the end of sentences or when pausing for a thought. What do I do to remove that or what am I doing wrong?
Have you ever figured it out, because I'm having the exact same issue
Truly a great tutorial. Many thanks for this!

Is it possible to use more than two usb-mics at the same time?
nope
Yes, you must first create an aggregate device on your computer/laptop

Such a helpful tutorial for a beginner like me! Thanks Jason! :-)
How do I move multiple clips in a multitrack session in Adobe Audition like the 'Track Select Forward' tool in Premiere Pro?
At approximately 3:30 you have "sort" duplicate when said, is that a montage mistake or one of effects failed resulting in an echo?
That's a great tutorial, thank you!
Can I record 4-channels simultaneously using Adobe audition? So four channels recording plus your music and effect track.
Thank you very much. It's very clear for me now.

Hi there,
Thank you for your comment. You should be able to use that device in Audition. Are you having any issues doing so? Let us know.

Useful tutorial. Thanks for the tip.
Thank you very much! It's a very useful tutorial for me that didn't know where to start in Au.
Weird that in Temple I only have NONE it dont show that Podcast one.

Still can’t record
Before WatcNice tutorialng the video - Ok, I guess it will be easy...
How do you do it in CS6 which is what everybody has because we aren't paying 20 bucks a month for this shit.
Nice but I’ve been doing same with free garage band for the past 15 years at least!
Video is terrible to see, all out of focus!
What do I use to take the static out of my voice when recording?
