- I’ve had quite a few questions about how to use certain processes for voice over. In this video I’ll discuss what these processes actually do. I don’t get into using the with music…JUST how you use them in basic voice over editing.
Fantastic tutorial. Working on an 8 hour audiobook recorded over 1 week so needed a lot work getting it to sound consistent - your tutorial was a Godsend. Thanks
well done. not enough people spelling out audio basics for the masses in an intelligent and respectful way. keep up the good work.
i just have a question for a half of year about this topic, and now I got the answer. Thanks alot about your helpful video
This is the BEST explanation I have ever found. Thanks cool guy. You are truly cool.
Wow, thanks! More to come :)
I don't have the habit of clicking thumbs up button, But I did click for this excellent tutorial. Excellent
Hey thanks! I appreciate the kind words!
I'm in the exact same position man. Feels good to find such great content !
You are amazing .. I love your way of rationale things and justify using those effects. I've seen many videos and people go fast and don't explain the reason behind using effects. Thanks for sharing, man.
You have an amazing voice Jason! I could just listen because of the voice, lol, but I did learn about normalization. Thank you.
Hey man thanks a lot. I was really overwheld and confused but now it all makes sense. Thank you.
The Easiest an detailed Explanation ever thank u soooooooooooooooooo much:))
Glad it helped! New version coming soon :)
You sir, are blessed with a great voice for VO. The mic loves you. Very good video.
Thank you for this video Jason!!!!! I was looking for the exact same answer for a very long time. This was just the absolute perfect explanation I could hope for. Thanks!!!
I've got a new version that I'll be putting out pretty soon. Thanks for the kind words!
You sir, deserve a hug. Thank you! I'm gonna credit you on my next episode (podcast)
This has been the best video that I have seen on Audio Training! I'm going to review and stick with your videos because you actually explain the functions of the tools instead of just giving you numbers to set to everything like I have seen so many do and I feel this is important as starting up engineer to learn! Especially if you are a R&B singer like me who's trying to learn how to engineering his own audio! Thank You Very Much Jason !!!
very good and clear lesson. With a normal teaching speed for beginners like myself.
This is really the best review i've seen on effects ever. I appreciate you putting the effort into making this!
You're welcome! Thanks for the kind words :)
Jason, thank you so much for this video. This has been a game changer for me. I couldn't figure out how to level my sounds without losing dynamics. Once again, thanks.
+Charles Parks Jr. Super glad it helped!
This is dabest tutorial and easy language to make me understand the point. 🥰
I love your videos, for years I had issues with click sounds and you tough in other video how to use histogram and saved my life. Now you explained how to do normalization in proper way (second method is what I was looking for for ages)
I’ve been doing voiceover for a few months and I’ve acquired a really good amount of skill just from hour after hour of editing, but this tutorial will help me quite a bit. It’s not uncommon for there to be a thin section that gets louder, but even when zooming in and selecting infinity on both sides and manually lowering that peak (we’re talking maybe a tenth of a second of audio), it will often create clicks that won’t edit out. So this will save me a ton of time and headache. Thank you!
Thank you for comparing and contrasting these key concepts together, it was super useful to do it that way.
Still relevant even with updated versions of Adobe; you got the explanations of the differences between the three different ideas down very well. Cheers!
This tutorial finally helped me understand why we may want to use these features and for what. Lot of tutorials on UA-cam simply ask us to use a hard value/amount without any explanation, requiring us to just wing it. Thanks for this video!
Please please please publish more of these! The explanations were amazing!
I have a new version of this video coming soon. It'll be broken down into 3 videos this time though.
Thank you Jason! This is the first video of many that actually explains this topic clearly to me. Very much appreciated. :)
Thank you!! I had absolutley no idea how this was done. Liked & Subscribed.
So much detail , Practical and well explained . Thank you very much and you have earned a new subscriber .
Thank you for this! I never knew what any of this stuff meant, but now, I do.
Thanks! I'm in the process of sound mixing my short film. You describe things very clearly. I appreciate it.
Hearing your glag, spit, swallowing, heavy breathing and souding like you're in a cooking pressure saved me 10 minutes in my life.
Great explanations without any unnecessary crap - I commend you sir!
Awesome! Super glad it was helpful.
excellent approach to make a beginner like me understand the concepts!! thanks

Great reminders! I've been working on refining my Adobe Audition skills ever since I started using it. Lately, I've revisted some of the things I always do when I make a voice recording. Your video has helped me rethink some of the steps I use to producing the best audio possible.

Wow, not often you see a well made tutorial! Great work COOL GUY!!!!!
Hi Jason, thanks for the video. You made it easy for a clueless guy like me just starting to try to understand working with audio. I was having trouble figuring out to reduce my high points in the recording when I spoke too loud.
+Jaymacibe, glad it helped! These can be some confusing processes for sure. Good luck as you learn more and more!
Thanks for this amazing tutorial! It helped a lot to learn these vital basics and you visualized & explaid the effects really well!
Exactly what I needed to solve a problem today. Thank you!
Thank you for breaking this down. Well done.
the best explanation ever thnx a loooot you are a life saver !!!
Great video, nice delivery. This guy IS cool.
Well done Jason. Thanks for great presentation.
Good Tutorial. Your voice audio quality is so excellent. If I compare to other popular you-tubers they are doing way to much compression on their voice overs its not sounding natural. Its like difference listening to open back head headphone (Your process Voice Quality) and closed back headphones (other pro-You-tubers)
The real cool guy with the real cool explanation video :)
Amazing class. Thank you very much.
This video is gold man. Thank you for posting this!
Thanks man! I really appreciate the kind words.
Very helpful for a beginner like me, thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial. Very helpful!
This video was really helpful and easy to understand
Thank you :)
Thanks, very well explained and illustrated. Great video.
Thank you very much for this clear and helpful video! :)
Thanks for being clear about this.
Glad it was helpful :)
Super video on these concepts. I'm cleaning up an old audio recording from 1973. Awful sound. I'm going to use these processes and let you know how it sounds. I'm completing a documentary and this audio clip will be the last quote audiences hear. So it's very important. Thank you very much!
Concise and useful! Thanks for posting.
I just want to say: THANK YOUUUUU!!! For creating this tutorial!! God damn, I needed this video! Keep up the good work! You have a new subscriber! =) Cheers from Sweden!
+henry andersson Glad to have you on board! You are very welcome :)
Dude you went like 4 years between uploads?! Awesome explanation in this video. Way less confusing than other guys trying to teach audio tools on video editors. You should make some more audio videos though!
Thanks so much for this video man. I recently recorded some ambient sounds which has a lot of rouge peaks. I was going to scrap the whole recording until I saw this video. Thanks so much 😊
Only just found this tutorial. So useful, thanks for making it.
Absolutely! Thanks so much for the kind words :)
You explain so well! Thanks!!
Very good and still actual in 2019. Thanks
Thanks Jef! Glad it was helpful.
Thanks for taking the time to make this clear.
Thankyou for the amazing tutorial 🙏
Fantastic lesson, everything I needed. Thank you!
Really great explain! Thank you very much!
Outstanding. I use the free stuff (Audacity) but everything you referenced I found in Audacity. Your work is very professional and I should know, I have a BS In CIS and Masters in information Systems and I have ten years teaching Computer Science & Software
Hard limiter increase and cut the wave form of peaks. Better result with using compressor. let the limiter for the final process and normalise in -0.10 db. Less dynamic more loudness and presence. Talking about voice-over for jingles and liners for radio production.
Hi Jason, it's been great watching your informative video. I have learnt a lot. However, I have seen it and enjoyed you explaining the techniques. I don't know if I do it just like that or have difficulty doing it. But still, I have your video to guide.
Thank you so much!
