Greetings from the Czech Republic.🖐️..this is a large field pattern M60...it was also used with a small field pattern, that is, a bread box...great for daily carrying..very good material..
The Y-straps aren't the actual designed carry method. The pack is designed to connect to load bearing equipment rig, of which the Y-straps are part. I made heavy leather straps for mine. I also added a heavy cardboard panel into the rear pocket, to give the bag some structure. I solved the straps coming unhooked by using some small zip ties to lock them in place, before I make the leather straps. I used it enough that the bottom started to wear out, so it's stuck in the closet for now, awaiting me figuring out a way to cover the bottom in leather.
Have been using this backpack for well over a year now. You have pack your things correctly or they might hurt your back. Enter the strap back upwards through the buckle and it will go nowhere I had a 5kg net of potatoes held by only the top flap while the rest of the pack was stuffed with groceries seweral times... no noticible damage. Straps hold up perfectly I am still surprised actually. I also use to get milk from a local farmer with this pack. up to 10 glas 1-liter bottles. Actually put it in the washing machine for the first time today because I spilled some. I now think about buying two more and use them as saddle-bags on my bike (which is my only vehicle, I should add) and also might buy the M60 haversack.
I use this bag as a daily driver. Holding up well so far. I will have to agree with you about the fabric seeming flimsy. I've also replaced the straps with ALICE straps and it's made a world of difference.
The sharp thin metal tabs on the buckle straps are made to slide easily through the buckle while the strap is already routed through the buckle. It’s fine the strap slides easily. You only need to reroute it back through the top opening of the buckle and it will lock the strap in place. No need to tie it to the ring.
Well I got mine for 2 € without Ystraps. Done some small work on it. I have put on watter repelent. Especially if you sweat too much put extra layer on back. Than I bought easyest and cheap straps instead of Ystraps. They even match collour of pack. For each strap loop got myself an original strap. In total it was arround 20 €. If you put sitting mat to divider area on your back you have cheap frame. :-D Now it is good even for winter overnight. :-)
I sprayed some silicone lubricant on the drawstring which works very well. As for the fabric straps,I don't trust the side pockets and when the centre strap broke I replaced it with 1/2 a reproduction M31 canteen strap. A thick leather strap will hold in those buckles.
i have one of these bags had mine for about 7 months and use it for camping out in lorries when im working and as a day bag when i out hiking i really was surprised how much i could fit in it but i have the exact same issue as yourself in regarding the strap for the main compartment lid working its way loose other than that i absolutely love it
19blondmoshhead95 After you go through both openings in the buckle, route it back up through the top opening of the buckle again. It’s supposed to slide and loosen easily that way there is room to double back through the buckle to lock the strap.
I was surprised how flimsy the fabric was that this pack was made from. Compared to other military surplus packs this pack fabric is thin. The Romanian ruck and the Italian ruck is made from absurdly thick canvas.
I know where you can buy one it's on a site called budk for like 30 usd i got one my self had it for a few years now and it's held up but i do have to say look up how to put the bag straps on or it will break i learned that one the hard way and now i have my bag Jerry rigged so look up how to do it for the love of the bag do it. Also try not ti step on the bag straps that close it. I did and got a scar now.
Yep, I throw one in the trunk of my jeep with pants, shirt, socks, a 4 seasons sleeping back and undies and still have some room. This thing has no bottom

Nick S thank you.
Same backpack was worn by Tom Berenger in Sniper 2 (2002)

I'm in love with my Veshmeshok but I'm wanting one of these as well 👍
Vesh is better. The only thing going for this bag is it looks more typical vintahe canvas backpack while the vesh is a potato sack on your back.
@@Drownedinblood its too annoying to make that knot every time you want to take something out quickly, like a bottle of water
Put a Bundeswehr sleeping mat in there. It'll pack a lot better then.

In truth it is not always like this, linen is more resistant than cotton but it costs more... 😊

The fabric is linen. Similar to the Russian Veshmeshok.

Is this rucksack able to fit a sleeping bag?
Jacob Buxton I believe so.

the thick bell will conect with your belt, the thin belt is the true belt that conect with itself. you are wrong.
