  • In this video, we explore the inside of the HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15. I show a step by step guide on upgrading the 2.5” SATA SSD. Since this model comes with no SATA drive from the factory, we add one for more storage.
Laptop: HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15
    Model: 15-ec1073dx
    SATA SSD I Used:
    HP SSD S700 2.5" 500GB
What SATA storage (HDD or SSD) is compatible? A or B
    A. Look at the Service Manual for your model.
HP Pavilion Gaming 15 Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide (15-ec1000)
    h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/...
Page 1-2 (Page 11-12 of the pdf)
    Storage
Supports 7.0 mm/7.2 mm, 2.5 in SATA hard drives
Support for solid-state drive + hard drive
    B. Search online for your HP model number
Crucial has a good site that shows compatible storage.
    For Models 15-ec1000
    www.crucial.com/compatible-up...)
Drive form factor: 2.5inch and M.2
    Drive Interface: SATA/PCIe
    SATA version: SATA 3 - 6Gb/s

Yeah SSDs don't have moving parts, while HDD do. SSDs rely on doing things electronically which makes them exponentially better than HDDS. I'm upgrading my HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop's SSD from 256GB to 1000GB because that is NOT enough for gaming lol
Update: I got my 1tb ssd now i can play Gta V Story Mode, Black Ops 2, Minecraft, Forza Horizon 4, and Mortal Kombat X without worrying about space :,)
