Racially Segregated Public Records By Whites and Blacks.
This story was instant chaos from the moment of entering the tag and tax office. Where staff called law enforcement because a journalist was checking on where your tax dollars were going.
Visiting the public records room in the Probate Courts office area, there are still segregated public records by blacks and whites. You must also pay $1 per picture to take images of any public records in the books. The same public records that are open to the public and in a public space.
The Probate Judge stated that I could be a terrorist or a pedophile. When I made a statement that this was he an ignorant judge, it appeared the judge wanted to get physical with me. I also met some great citizens that are tired of how this government is operating.

I looked on their Russell County web page for a way to submit an open records request each month for the past 10 years.
I want to know the amount of revenue generated by making copies of public records each month for the past 10 years.
I want to know the amount of revenue generated by charging people when the people made a digital copy/photo of a public record each month for the past 10 years.
I want to know the amount spent on equipment to run and maintain that office each year for each month for the past 10 years.
I want to know the amount spent on salaries and number of people in that office for each year of the past 10 years.
Typically the punishment for breaking a building policy is trespassing. And, yes, you can 100% be trespassed from a government building. Auditors have taken this topic to court and lost every time.
@@MagCynic I hear you. But it does not align with the 14th amendment which guarantees due process. Let me explain. Case law has repeated confirmed citizens have a right to record public servants in the performance of their duties. However, when anyone, law enforcement or courts rule against those citizens with a trespass, they have denied the citizens due process to perform their civil rights by illegally removing them from the location when they have not done any wrong to warrant the removal. Simply existing in a space is not grounds for hurt feelings to overrule the constitution.

Correct. But if you look at the actual cases, I'll bet they all take place in traditional public forums like sidewalks and NOT in non-public forums like government buildings.
If a citizen is removed from a government building due to not following building policy, then it's not an illegal removal or illegal trespass.
How do I know this? Because that's what courts have found. In Commonwealth v. Bradley an auditor was filming inside a police lobby that had a "no filming" policy. He was trespassed and later found guilty by a jury. He appeals to the state supreme court and lost there, too.
In Sheets v. City of Punta Gorda an auditor was filming in city hall and was eventually trespassed. Sheets filed a lawsuit (even citing the 14th Amendment) and lost. Badly.
None of these standard auditor arguments ever hold up in court.

It allows them to record in the public servants work place in the publicly accessible areas of those work places. I have not heard of Sheets v City of Punta, but I will accept your statement on face value. But simply because some local or state, even federal judge as ruled the 14th amendment does not protect the right, doesn't mean the judge is right. Doesn't mean we the people give up.

Laws are Written to Weaken the Constitution. Do you think about what the laws that are written after the constitution are really about? The U.S. Constitution is protection. It set the framework to limit what government can do to the people. The U.S. Constitution was created to limit, to prevent government what government and its agents can do to the citizens. Every law written after the Constitution was created is an attempt to dilute it, water it down, circumvent, get around and use laws (loopholes) to further empower the government to deny the constitution’s protection for the citizens. It’s really that simple. Think about how every law is trying to find a loophole to sidestep or weaken the constitution. How those members of the courts that were sworn to first protect and defend the constitution, re-define those loopholes with case law to diminish the strength of the constitution. Let’s use just two case law decisions to see how they took away our protections. Look at Terry v. Ohio, and Pennsylvania v. Mimms each weakened our protection and granted court ordered advantages of the blue line gang.
We created government to protect us from those who would do us harm. But the founders also recognized that in doing that we had to protect ourselves against abuses by that same government. That’s why we have a Bill of Rights.
Wonder why cops don’t honor their oath to the constitution? Their sworn oath is a gesture, token at best. They only obey their masters, the tyrants in control at the moment in the government. The obey them because they feed, pay and prop them up. No matter what city, town or state they are employed when a citizen tries to remind them, they work for the people, the “we the people”, they deny that as they work for the “city”.

Everything is a shakedown for money in the Russell County government! It's been that way since the 1920ies and it'll never change with the people who are elected in PC. Grew up there and don't want to go back to live. It's not the place I'd consider where honest people make the decision in government funding and places.
Sounds like all government needs their allocated expenditures rearranged. There is plenty of money flowing in for every government agency to do the People's business.
We already pay them to do their job so there should be no further cost to us for anything.
Maybe they aren't spending our money prudently.
A government job is pretty cushy with plenty of benefits, above what most of the people have whom they serve. Have you ever heard of a boss struggling while their servants live a very good life and still demand money every time they serve us?

I know. Some might even raise the issue of maintaining and preserving these records, but there is already a huge amount of taxation on the properties listed in those records, as well as a host of municipal taxes and fees collected all over the place for about everything you can think of.
Stop spending more than your tax revenue. Stop charging extra BS fees.

Here's the mayor in a policy memo: "It is the policy of the executive branch of the State of Alabama to promptly provide citizens with public records upon request, subject to their payment of reasonable fees..."
And here's a quote from the Alabama Dept of Revenue: "We are permitted by state law to charge reasonable fees in connection with processing public records requests."

I've seen judges even throw a cast out because the prosecutor made them angry. So, it could work either way when it comes to a "feelings based" judge. I'm honestly a little disappointed that you didn't get them to explain the consequences, if any, of not paying for taking your own photographs of public records. So if I go inside and flip through a book rapidly and my 24 frames per second captures the whole book I'll owe a couple hundred dollars? And if I don't pay that they what... arrest me for 'stealing public records'? Like what's the crime. What if I only take a copy of half a page, is it 50 cents?

And in that case the lady deputy just flat out told that clerk off the clerk, the clerk got fired the next day I think. ...***** Oh no**** further on into the video I see now she's trying to in force him to pay for taking a picture. We would be paying for their services. But when you video or take a picture with your own phone it is NO SWEAT. Nobody is using their services as (clerk). We do not have to pay for somebody's services and or paper to take a picture. When they are not doing a service for us. That is no energy or effort put on any clerk to service us. So how does anyone owe money? First of all we pay for the building we pay for the people that work there to do their job and their job is record-keeping in certain departments. So the paper it is printed on right now in those books are basically paid for by the tax dollars. So we've already paid for that paper. So to take a picture of the paper that we've already paid for, should not cost anybody anything. It's already done, it's already paid for. Now if we take a picture of it, and nobody has to help us, NO clerk has to come and use their precious time from the ordinary daily routine. and they as in the office is not making a digital copy to send to anyone. Therefore we do not have to pay!!!!!! And the probate judge, I guarantee you does not know that this is already been to the supreme Court, he does not use any common sense. But Because he o thinks he knows everything, just because they have the word judge in front of their name. I worked at the courthouse, the reason you pay money is because you were taking somebody away from their general duties and having them assigned to help you go through court records. And then pulling out stuff to make copies, using copy paper. So you're paying for the paper it's printed on, you can actually bring your own paper and they can't charge you for that. But this is wrong I'm telling you the reason they charge money is mainly because of people coming down there making so many copies and using up so many reems of paper. I guarantee if you walked in there and wrote down on your own pad of paper what you're reading they cannot charge you for that and would not try to charge you for that. This crap makes my blood BOIL. AND THE JUDGE IS STUPID. AND WHEN THEY Cannot answer your question. Then You are making a scene. That's why he's getting upset and that's why he's done talking to you, because he can't communicate with you because he does not know the answers to the questions you're asking him.

You're right up to the point of the whole "already paid for that record" via normal taxes.
I don't disagree that the price is ridiculous, but until it's codified that they cannot charge a fee for hardcopy/photo records, or otherwise clarified that "storage of these records will forever be paid for ONLY by 'X', there's nothing unlawful about them charging a fee.
They have to make public records AVAILABLE. That isn't the same as allowing people to make copies or otherwise duplicate (photograph) the records for their own keeping.
Now one can argue that they shouldn't charge anything, should only charge when using ink/paper, or whatever else you believe to be "right"...just clarifying the inaccuracies. I'm plenty open to read up on the Supreme Court case you mention that counters this if you care to post it, but have been unable to find anything of that nature searching for it.

That they charge because they have to put it on printer paper. Also using the copier ink that runs out and has to be replaced so therefore they have to purchase ink. And the paper that those documents are on have already been paid for by the taxpayers. Where else does the paper it is printed on come from?? I never said it was against the law to charge anyone. I just think it's kind of ridiculous that you want somebody to pay you that's going to take a picture of it. If I take a picture I'm not using any paper to be charged for. There are fees for everything.😅 Oh and we did have lawyers that would bring their own rhema paper so they wouldn't be charged.
We had a news reporter that was doing a piece on a serial killer that's here in this town. And it would have cost him $12,000 to get all the documents. They decided to just go through it themselves and pick out which ones that they would need. 😅

Taking pictures/video all falls under the 1st amendment. No matter who is taking pictures. The public or the public agencies. There is NO privacy in public.

Did you know that you could walk into a DMV or any public building a VA a tax office a library and if you see a sign on the wall that says no photography and of course you know how there’s no statute you could leave the building and immediately file what’s called a Monell claim because the signs violate your rights you have a lawsuit without even getting arrested without even speaking to anyone merely viewing the signs taking a picture of them gives you evidence, and then just go file a Lawsuit Where do they find out that all you have to do is go in and redesign and then sue them for money you literally could retire once you auditors figure out that you could sue. Every time your rights are violated every single time $25,000 for your first amendment being violated. You’d be millionaires all of you I don’t understand why you’re not getting your pay they seriously they are so dumb. Their stupidity is a pay out.

Most states have statutes saying a copy of a page is ten cents a copy. A dollar a copy may be unlawful.

@@johnjames4567 I worked for a surveying and engineering consulting firm that did a lot of surveying for cellphone tower installations. We would have to go to the records office, into the records room and look up various properties and then various owners of said properties so that they could be informed that a celltower was being planned for the property neighboring their own. We did all the work ourselves and even made the copies where you stuck money in the machine(s) and printed the copies ourselves.
