- According to the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office, journalists with a camera will raise concerns. I wonder what concerns the deputy was talking about. We visited multiple government buildings all located within a block or two.

I hear the guard saying someone that has a camera is a bonified threat. If I want to have a camera in a public building I'm either a terrorist or a burglar, right?
Why was a law abiding citizen who was doing a constitutionally protected activity in a public building required to be detained for questioning before they are (allowed) to be free?

It seems like a camera is the opposite of a threat. If you’re walking around in the building recording everything you’re doing doesn’t that offer some level of protection?
It's what they've installed as security so how do they twist their heads around this? The controlling of our obedience starts early and we end up paying for it the whole way. Pretty nifty business model actually, it's what people with too much time and money do.
Unfortunately, the public servants are horribly trained. The leadership need to be changed and then maybe the public will be better served.
It's a good thing that the police never start with introducing themselves. Imaging citizens starting to think that public servants work for the public.

Ham it up with the order followers, ask them to explain their jobs to the grandkids you're making your cross country documentary for maybe. I love it: "Some of the people need customer service training" Customer service consists of 1)Treating the public with respect, 2) Being nice and courteous when interacting with the public, 3) Promptly and efficiently providing the requested and/or required services to the public when asked. 4) Basically presenting oneself in a manner of common sense, friendly interaction with members of the public that one is serving. Obviously, being rude, discourteous, abrasive, and arrogant are the opposite of the qualities expected by the public. In general, that's where common sense (if one grew up with proper manners and skills) practices are that which may have to be trained into some of the staff that may be untrained or lacking.

You guys have got to stop asking these tyrants “Who issues press credentials?”. Many gov’t agencies do issue press credentials and most media outlets provide credentials to their reporters that they create themselves. I agree that credentials are not required to exercise our rights and that all citizens are able to operate as press. We can make our own credentials. I also agree whole heartedly with the work you are doing to try to keep our gov’t transparent and hold people who violate the people’s rights accountable. Just a simple request to stop asking who provides credentials.

.How Stupid can one Boofer be to ask if it was pictures or video!! That person was so ignorant in his questions that it is hard to believe he was employed by anyone for a period of more than 20 years! That is a Lawsuit on its way to the Courtroom and they need to sue this Guard for multiple reasons. There is no way that you both can be legally singled out because of merely taking photos in a Government Building! I know that he will cause that town to incur lawsuits from citizens that should never be treated in this manor under any circumstances, as it was easily seen as them profiling you both and treating you differently for being White and carrying a camera into a Government building! They were pulled aside and had to wait, for something, before being allowed to travel freely throughout the Public areas within the building! It is against the Law to profile without reason and delay your travels throughout the building! Sue there stinking butts before War breaks out with Iran!
