Pretty good video for the tune up process. However the only thing to correct is when you line up TDC 1 or TDC 6 the dot lines up with the pointer tab and not centered in the inspection window. Other than that good video.
I'm literally in an college Diesel Technology class tearing down and putting back together a DD13. My team of classmates didn't know what DTNA Techlit meant by intake/exhaust since there's two camshafts which is why I reffered to this video. Good video but could be organized better and explained a little more simplistic. Thanks though! You answered our question.
+Woodzedge - I think every 200-250k is appropriate. Overtime the valve seats wear and may make the valve remain slightly open if you dont adjust. This can cause valve to burn
Thanks for this video . is this one helps for the truck fuel mileage to go up . My truck freightliner cascadia 2016 has 3800k mileage. The fuel mileage recently dropped from 7.3 to 6.2 Don't know. I changed the engine filter and the truck still going 6.2 mpg
im guessing i need to do this on the cascadia i just bought. not sure if its fleet programing or this, but the jake brake is so weak that even bobtail you only barely notice if its on or not
Would recommend this if you havent done so already. If the Jake's are weak they may have been used daily. Would only recommend using Jake's only when loaded and of course mountains routes.
Hi there ! Help Got question . I changed my cylinder head dd15. If I adjusted 1 round then turn flywheel to 360 degree and I’m with the same position to adjust 1 round again . Any suggestion?
You will see a lot of after treatment issues caused by overhead out of adjustment, if your valves are staying open longer that increases raw fuel in your 1box which can cause spikes in temps and even damage to your filters and reduces NOx conversion which causes MIL,CEL and SEL lights
The valves will stay open as the wear. This is why you can hear a thumping sound coming from intake. If it’s bad enough you could feel intake manifold getting very hot in one area
What about the Jake's. I can tell you it's going to take a second person to assist in turning the motor at the inspection window. Suppose to adjust in order when the intake lobe is fully open.

Yep, there's a pin time tool you can purchase to hold the motor as well.

You didn’t quite have that on tdc. That nub in the inspection cover is an indicator to line up with the timing mark.
Shoutout from TAT Express out of Hutchins, TX
i use a wrench and t-handle allen key. just to make sure that the adjustment is not lost.
I second that
Your snap on dealer carries the Detroit barring tool, and it has a 1/2 drive for easy turning
Good video man ! Waiting for more Detroit videos 👍
Nice engine and nice country music on radio. Everything's good.
Made it look easy. How many miles on the engine? Looks to be nice and clean inside.
About 600k
it is supposed to be done at least 100,000 miles, or when ever you remove the rocker arms.
How many miles do you recommend a valve adjustment after buying a new truck I've heard three different stories?

@@cardinaltruckservice3753 ok thank you
I've done ones at a 100k and then customers request and also when digging in the top of the motor.
So the timing of 13,15,16 are the same ? Then which one is of 470 is in which group?
Awesome job and thanks for posting
how did you make tool for jake
It's an actual tool bought through Daimler
How do you know when #1 cylinder is at tdc without using the barring tool? Also how do you know when #6 is at tdc as well
Thanks for this video .

Tighten the adjuster to 6 inch pounds then set the jam nut to 37 foot. Then you'll have a good setting. Nice work.
Is that 6 inch pounds by specs or a personal process? I was thinking there has to be a better description than just "with a little bit of drag"
Thank you for a great video tutorial!
Thank you dude for your informative video.
Great job, What is charge for running overhead on DD-15 ?, where are you guys located, Thanks

Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice easy when someone explain it knows what it's doing
Snap on tool number s6206 valve adjuster set works well for those
Muy buen video si pudieras realizarlo en español
Where are you located?
Good explain sir . Help me lot.
Great video..thanks.
Nice bro....
❤❤❤
Where is your shop
I belive to increase the HP besides adjusting the ECM you need to adjust valves more open. Am i right?
Doing a valve adjustment has nothing to do with hp gain. It just cleans up the burn process of the fuel.
Thank you !
Buen vídeo carnal gracias,
4.1mm EPA07, 4.6mm EPA10 and up
+Simon Says That's right! Thanks
Second round timing i not see bro becouse i not understand
DO YOU SEE A LOT OF AFTER TREATMENT PROBLEMS BECAUSE THE OF THE OVERHEAD BEING OUT OF ADJUSTMENT? VOLVO DETROIT CUMMINS?
+Jason Lurie Not much, most are usually bad sensors or coolant in the filter

I also heard that if valves
left open slightly, the engine performs better, is that true?
The valves will stay open as the wear. This is why you can hear a thumping sound coming from intake. If it’s bad enough you could feel intake manifold getting very hot in one area
No you can cause down stream failures in the one box to the filter's. Also could damage the piston or valves themselves.
A tight valve is is a happy valve? Not at TDC my man. The notch on the driver side of the bell housing is ment to line you up bro
Thanks....
Good video
