Hahaha I litteraly just just just commented the EXAACT same ! Haha “ Aaaaah thaaat’s why they always say to mix the Dry ingredients together first! Makes sense !” Haha and then I see yours which says it exactly including the “ Makes sense “ part! Haha!
Genius move using the food coloring to visualize the baking powder! Your videos really help a lot with understanding *why* to do certain things when baking, which I feel a lot of other channels don’t do enough
Totally sending this to my (15 yr.o) daughter... I DID tell her about dry ingredients... and she still thinks it's an unnecessary step sometimes. I think she does it just to taunt me 😂
You rock kiddo.. you have helped me so much..it's been years since I've baked. Over 13yrs! My son's grew up and left the nest and I quit baking..I loved cooking and baking, but not for one..now I am a caregiver for elderly veterans and my desire to bake has returned. However there are important things you forget if you don't practice steadily..that's where you have jogged the hamster in the wheel..now my bakes come out perfectly! Thank you for putting smiles on the vets I bake for! 😊
@@baisale36 making 3 different batches of something is a lot more difficult than making one batch and cooking it differently. More dirty dishes for one.
When i started getting into baking, the first thing my grandmother taught me was "mix the dry ingredients, then the wet, then mix both together." no better way to do it, fr, it makes it so simple
This guy is doing what so many others fail to do for some reason, no bs, no filler, just engaging, efficient, and straightforward information that is so educational while still feeling chill and digestible
Could you show the third one (perfectly mixed) with food dye? To see how it's supposed to look like both in batter form and in baked form? (Love your content btw!)
The dye shows the amount of the leavening agent that isn’t activated, which makes the final result more dense as it does not rise enough. You wouldn’t see any coloring in the well mixed one because there isn’t any inactive leavening agent, lol. As for the batter, he said to mix the dry batter throughly (until homogenous), add the wet batter, and mix until there aren’t any dry streaks.
Man. The last bakery I worked at, I trained so many people who seemed to think mixing the dry ingredients was optional. I’d turn them loose and let them make a batch themselves, and a lot of the time they’d get undermined products at the end. I’d ask them if they mixed the fry ingredients together, and they’d either lie and say yes, or they’d get annoyed like I was being a micro manager. Then I’d watch them try to do it all over again…

These are by far some of the most helpful videos on the platform. You have to really understand the baking process to make stuff like this. Thank you for spreading the information!
Aaaaah I understand why now . When I bake cookies I always make them perfectly because I stop mixing asap even when there is some flour . With muffins it’s so different ! Thank you
Thanks to your account I started baking, it’s been 4 months and I am amazed with the things I’ve been able to do considering I had zero knowledge in baking, you’re doing a great job!
FINALLY, someone’s explained why you have to mix the wet and the dry separately! Thank you, it seems so obvious now that you’ve said it, but I never understood before!
Música maravilhosa como sempre. Já havia ouvido antes, mas mesmo assim senti que tinha que elogiar porque ela é muito boa. William, você ainda vai longe na sua carreira, e parabéns pela postagem do seu primeiro clipe de lyrics!!!
I really like how he shows us the Uber mixed and the regular amount mixed and show us if you're baked goods end up this way, there was a problem and this is probably what occurred. It's really informative and helpfulI
You are such a genius, like the idea to show how something can go wrong & how it looks is really helpful, atleast I & many others will surely know when our things go wrong & what we have did, so next time we won't repeat it ❤❤❤❤
I appreciate this video that shows how to bake but now you just made me over think if I even try mixing batter and I don’t even know how to make muffins 😭
The food dye to show incomplete mixing was really smart! Great content, happy to follow a fellow Ben 😊
It looked so pretty tho 😭
@@imaspecialgirllalala I guess you can create them by separating a correctly mixed batter in two, dyeing one of them and partially mixing them. It might achieve the right texture and the cool pattern
@@Am3lia77I also had that idea.
I would have liked to see him add the food dye to the properly mixed one too for the comparison
I loved that part
I went through culinary college and I still never got taught how to troubleshoot when baked goods fail. I'm learning more now than they ever taught me
And its also free lol
That dye is a brilliant move tbh
The mixed muffin looked just ss tall as the others

I love this explanation. I read “do not overmix” often, but I never get a solid explanation of when to stop mixing. This helps so much.
The food colouring trick was SO GOOD especially for visual learners such as myself. Really solidified the concept. 10/10 teaching!! 👏🏾👏🏾
Do you think you could do a video showing the differences between foil cupcake liners, paper cupcake liners, and greasing instead of a liner?
Interesting
Interesting, but so easily done with one batch of anything at home

My muffins allways had a gummy texture and often were very crumbly. Thank you for this!
im so lucky i found your channel perfectly when i started baking
Let’s be real. That food coloring was amazing. Should show all of them with the colors
I've always wondered if separately mixing wet and dry was actually that important, and you just gave a great example as of why. Nice!
I wasn’t sure if I was going to culinary school but as soon as I started watching these videos, I feel confident 😄
Love the Great British Bake-Off/Baking-Show music in the background
I’ll have to test this myself. My muffins always come out kinda dense, so this could be where I’m going wrong. Many thanks!
Red dye to demonstrate the under-mixed baking soda = *goated* 🐐
I like the overmixed result, that texture is really good
That's a good tip, thank you! I've been baking so much lately 😊
I love the food it showed what you were explaining perfectly and I hope you do this more often its brilliant
Great and concise video explaining the difference, great use of coloring to make it more visible. 👍🏼

For anyone wondering, this guy knows what he’s talking about. I used his mixing advice recently on pancakes that came out 🔥
Thanks! I'm in my school's cooking club and we're doing muffins next time, so this'll help me!

Dude wtf you've got so much good info and tips
This is exactly how I do my pancakes (thanks chef Frank).
that dye was amazing.
Fluffy sounds like a good name for golden retriever 😅
For future videos could you always use that food coloring trick to show how much it needs to be mixed
Adding the food coloring definitely helped illustrate the end result.
This is why I follow you. ❤
I actually prefer the 2nd one when its soft and a little mushy in the middle
That makes perfect sense! No wonder my muffins turn out so gummy! I’ve been adding the dry ingredients to the wet instead of the wet to the dry!😮
The red was so pretty!😂
Thank you for this video!❤
this guy is amazing fr
Ngl, the overmixed muffin looks pretty good.
Your videos are incredibly helpful. You are a gift. Thank you so much. ❤
thanks so much for the visual! i always overmix my muffins
the usage of food colouring seems like it should be obvious, but it's not. genius idea!!
Maaaaan I love your videos.
In my 30 years of living I have finally heard what "don't over mix" or "don't under mix" means
Truly appreciate your content. Very insightful! ❤🎉
Have to agree with everyone on the food dye! That was a great way to show it. Love your videos!
Thank you so much . Learn a lot from you... keep up the good work 👍
it’d be cool to do this again but with the food coloring in each muffin, to see how it mixes in appropriately
The food dye demonstration was smart

This is likely an unpopular opinion, but I find dense, gummy textures in baked goods appealing. I don’t know why, but I do.
You are smart doing that difference between adding Coloring or not
