I was lucky enough to pay retail of 37 bucks for a bottle of ETL and traded it for 2 bottles of SmokeWagon UCUF and a bottle of Antique 107. Best deal ever
Love these blinds. Reinforces why pay more than retail for some names when Makers 101 and 1792 Small Batch wins out? Distilleries take note: videos like this earn the name “influencers” for a reason. Thanks guys!
Kurt should start off every episode now with "Hello Neighbor!" 😂 Storytime would be awesome...while drinking some whiskey of course lol Love to see ETL in last place in this blind...reminds me again why I laugh anytime I see it priced at $200-$300
Gentlemen, great video once again. Yes, a 2024 story time session with some daily sips in the background would be awesome! Mom needs to be in that video though! Smiles...
I was given a bottle of ETL during 2021 & it blew my socks off… Prior to discovering ETL I was more of a Canadian & Irish Whisky drinker. I credit ETL with opening up my taste buds to the world of KY bourbons & the parts of it I love. Starts with smooth sweet caramel notes void of earthiness… Heaven Hill products have become my go to’s…
Underdogs punch up again, I always love to see it! These are my favorite kind of blinds, I'm always supporting the cheaper and more accessible winning out. In this round I would have guessed (aside from the ETL) Early Times would have taken #1. I prefer Green River's standard bourbon to their wheated, good value at under $35.
I dont know if Trenton will see this being a few days after the fact, but I'm betting the term he was thinking of was "thumbing my nose at" when talking about MM being an up and coming to him. Great content as always gents! I love what you guys do!

I picked up a bottle of ETL and RHF last week for the allocated drop in Tennessee for just barely over msrp. Just happy to have them in the cabinet to round out my collection.
I love your channel and have come to make you all a part of my weekly video watching habit. I know you all do a lot of topb5 lists and comparisons, but I would love to see a weekly feature where the two of you debut a bottle that neither of you have tried before. A new bourbon every week.
A sting from a paddle kept a lot of us out of trouble. I second the story time from a recliner with a great pour of maybe your favorite sip at the time of the video. Great job guys.
Makers 101 is the sweet spot in their lineup. The standard bottle doesn’t have much depth and the cask strength has too much burn. 101 is just a phenomenal bottle for the price. I pick it up whenever I see it on the shelf.
Interesting that ETL finished so low but not surprised. Really like the Green River. Need to try the rest. I've added the Makers Mark and 1792 to my lists of need to buys. I'm really a big fan of the $30 bottles
Another fun video. It just goes to show...you never know what your taste buds will desire. Had tasted Elmer T Lee at my cousin's house...it was pleasant but would never pay over $50 for a bottle. Enjoy the weekend all!!!
Another great video guys, I like seeing the 1792 up in the top of the running, and Oh Man! Our H.S Vice Principal had one of those paddles with holes drilled in it made by kids in the Shop Class, and yeah I got a few and he could lift you up onto your tippy toes when connected with your tush😫
I’ve been under a rock I guess - never heard of Elmer T Lee. But, just watched 4 quick videos on it. ALL said not good. Three said good with Sprite (suggested by the man himself!). Wow!
ETL is an ok pour. The flavors there are fine but it’s just thin and the volume is at 3. I like my whiskey cranked to 10. As for the story time, absolutely! You should do a more relaxed setting tho. Maybe a couple of chairs in a corner or around a fire pit. Idk what settings you have that make audio and lighting easy.
I'll need to grab a bottle of Maker's 101. Maker's is probably my favorite distiller. Love the 46, love all of their different Private Selection from different businesses, actually loved the BEP, love the 46 Cask Strength from this year. I left it on the back burner for a couple years, but I've gotten back into them. Sadly, I never got the Cellar Aged because psychopaths got it and sold it for stupid amounts of money
Maybe I should pick one of these up too. I have two of the private selections, and they are excellent. I was fortunate enough to try the Cellar Aged at a bar that didn't charge a fortune, and it was great, but it is one of those bottles that cannot be found. I'm sure one or two of the museums in my area have it sitting on a shelf, marked up to an absurd price, where it will collect dust for a long time.
I've been fortunate to have been able to purchase Elmer T. Lee at MSRP. I'd seen so many people chasing it and the prices it was going for, so I jumped at the chance to buy them. When I finally cracked it, it was so disappointing. I still have a half bottle left, and i rarely reach for it. I actually traded my second bottle. Locally, I see ETL for 300. Definitely, not worth the chase.
I never got why Elmer T Lee was so sought after or the justification for the secondary Market I just laugh every time I see it for that $200 price range
Great video. Please use that second camera to show mom talking/reacting!!!! That shot can be a nice break from time to time from your wonderful talking heads and help us feel more at home with you all.
MM 101 and the MM cask strength are very underrated!! Green River I have had both but they both were just 'ok', love the Early times it would have been in front to the 1792 for me that's another one thats just 'ok' for me!!

I remember Elmer T Lee on the shelves for $40. I remember it being super meh at best and I never re bought it. Now seeing it on shelves for $300+ is hilarious. Hell, I wouldn’t rebuy at $40 let alone $350. Black maple hill on the other hand, my god I miss that bourbon.
Black Maple Hills is still available. CVI brought it back and you can get it shipped from various online stores like Caskers, Keg n Bottle, etc. They have the younger, shorter, and newer bottles; the 16-year wine-looking bottles are priced like Pappy.
I paid $45 for my E T Lee literally on the shelf at a gas station. It’s not an expensive bottle (at MSRP) and easily gets beat out by $60-$70 bottles in my collection. I have zero idea why the secondary is so high other than the fact it’s hard to find.
In school I got whacked with the ruler. At home sometimes it was a paddle or actually small wooden cutting board with a handle. My butt still has memories of all those whacks.
Ohh the Elmer T. Lee conversation, i find older bottling of this product and older as in bottles from 2012 2013 better juice. Now am not saying that newer bottles are bad or not worth the purchase, please try it before you buy it, even at 45 50 dollars. I have found that with popularity of Buffalo Trace steady growth in the past 7 to 10 years the products drink a little rushed to me, and i mean in taken before they are ready just for demands from the bourbon population. I could be wrong and its just my taste changing, or it could be the conditions changing from year to year effecting the grain and the maturity of the liquor as well. Who knows. Great video gentlemen. God bless and merry Christmas.

Man, I love it when the cheap stuff beats the overhyped allocations. Sometimes people really need that reality check.
I think this should be the goal of every UA-cam channel because the allocated bottles are really ruining the entire Bourbon biz
Not quite a "reality check" when every whiskey preference is subjective lol
