I actually like the idea of a unicorn blind. If we decide to really splurge on a bottle, it’s nice to know what we should lean towards to maximize our bar priced bottle purchase 😂
Yeah, but they'll probably pick the wheater so just buy the one you can find. That's probably a Maker's product at this point.
I agree. Just because I probably will never have a bottle doesn't mean I don't like to learn about them. And you might have a chance to try one in a bar.
I'm sure Kurt's Kentucky Owl Dry State would win there... or ruin the entire flight.
I was thinking the same thing.
100% a unicorn blind would be great, even if I can't get it I like to know the one I should try if available!
I hyped up EH Taylor so much, it was going to be my personal favorite… found one at retail and it just taste like apple and ethanol to me😂
I assure you, it doesn't taste like that to me. Weirdly, it was bubble gum and caramel with a hint of cinnamon on the finish. It was wonderful.
Glad to see Weller antique regarded so highly by you guys. The restaurant I work for bought a barrel so they're only charging $10 a pour. It's been on my radar since we got the bottles in so I'm going to have to try it on my next shift.
Also, I'm really glad I found you guys because I feel like mine and Kurt's pallets are extremely similar. It's making it easier for me to transfer from scotch into the world of bourbon.
I like sipping on eagle rare and eating chocolate covered 🍒 at Christmas time try its good together it will surprise you.😊
I bought a store pick of the Blue Note Juke Joint uncut /unfiltered 119.5 proof for $41.99 in Grand Junction Colorado.... It's so good!
I'd enjoy seeing you do blinds for all the SLB barrel picks, also ryes, and of course, Trenton's begging to do Scotch blinds. 😉
I am crying at the intense zoom on Kurt that made my day boys see ya tonight
If you do a unicorn blind you need to find an Orphan Barrel, Lost Prophet!
Love this channel 😊
I tried the Peerless Flight at Merles Whiskey Kitchen on whiskey row in Louisville. I didn't really like any of them. Peerless Rye, Peerless Regular Bourbon and Peerless Double Oak was on them. Best I had all weekend was Angel Envy's Rye and Early Times 100.
@-SLBDrinks what did I win?
Great lineup! Interesting outcome.
107 is my favorite bourbon, but it's even harder to come across in canada.
Would be nice on these to see what you think they should sell for should one be able to find them. I’ve seen one bottle of this particular Weller. It was $300 IIRC. I did find a the E. H. Taylor SB for $89
I live in Virginia and it is impossible to find Buffalo Trace products here. I am dying to find Weller Antique 107. Any tips on the best state/place to find it?
Where the heck did you get your hands on the Maker's DNA?
Wild apple trees have fruit that look like cherries. The sandwich is called a fluffanutter.
You guys have the old screw top bottle of 107. Wonder if it’s better than the newer batches.
How can i get one of those Blue Note picks!?
Trenton and Kurton you dogs!
I guess I've been under a rock because I've never heard of Makers DNA line. Also, not sure a Juke Joint pick should be considered allocated?
He’s got a persimmon tree in his yard lol
If your veins bleed DR. Pepper try mixing COCONUT RUM and either Diet Coke or Coke = dr. pepper. Trent give A to your wife for perfume!
Not sure if it has been said but maybe a blind test with all these winners, from cheap to expensive
This has been an amazing series. Thanks for putting it all together.
I love Weller 107, only bottle I’ve ever paid way over MSRP for. Did just pick up ECBP C923 in
Kentucky for $79, that is at least findable
Shout out to Weller 107, my favorite sipper. It almost brought a tear to my eye it was like seeing one of my kids coming in first place. The editing on this video was fantastic I love the part where Kurt said I'll be back in a minute, it was brilliant😂😂😂
Do you really prefer 107 to Full Proof though? I am surprised 107 got on the list instead of Full Proof.
Trenton--Won't eat pie, will eat random, mushy tree fruit of unknown and potentially poisonous origin. Side note: Dr. Pepper Strawberry Cream is like candy. Highly recommend!
I always want to know the 5 in the top ten that didn't make the final 5.
Love the blinds, great series. Trenton, I think you handicap yourself by always trying to guess the bottles. By doing that you bring in all of your preconceived notions about each bottle, and which one you think should win. I like Kirk’s approach, just judge by the flavors you experience in the moment.
I picked up a ECBP C923, Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel, and a Buffalo Trace today. I live in NC with state run ABC stores, so this was a great haul for this area.
I’m in NC and have never came across those. Lucky you
Was STAGG in the top ten? I would have thought that would be one in the mix. I can see it on your top shelf.
If Leonard Hofstadter (from the Big Bang Theory) went to the gym a few times and drank bourbon.... that's Trenton.
107 is so good. I hate how hard it is to find. But it always does so well in blinds for me.
weller 107 is amazing.
EHT Small Batch is one of the most overrated bottles on the market. It's a fine $40-45 BIB bottle but if you want a REALLY good BIB bottle there are much better and more finable options. When you start getting up into the $70-80 secondary price on EHT SB I would say buy Redwood Empire Grizzley Beast Instead. Grizzley Beast is maybe one of my favorite available bottles for under $100 and it drinks like a 110 proof. At the $40-50 price of EHT I'd still rather just drink a 4 Roses Single Barrel (100 proofer but not BIB).
Weller 107 on does over perform for it's MSRP and drinks like a $80 bottle as compared to how terrible Weller SR drinks. Without that extra proof the Weller SR bottle just falls off a cliff - initial twinge of sweetness and then water. The extra proof gives it some depth and a bit of finish that green label desperately lacks. Regular Buffalo Trace (similar MSRP as SR) is a far more complete bourbon experience.
I won an Antique 107 at a raffle (about 30 bottles of every EH Taylor offering, 5 bottles of every Weller offering, a couple Blantons straight from the barrel, regular Blanton’s, Elmer T Lee) The buy-in was $20 for a gallon of Fireball lol, so I was like what the heck, let’s buy one. I quickly realized there were about 60 people, many of whom had 10-15 tickets per person, never thought I’d win. But alas, I waited an hour to hear my name drawn for a single barrel select of Antique 107, price was $90 plus the $20 buy-in. 😂😂 the feeling of winning on a single ticket and also enjoying this 107 slowly is pretty wonderful to say the least 🙃
Good luck on Weller 107 in Texas.... May the odds be in your favor
Weller Antique 107 is often available in Ohio with the allocated bottles. I bought one a couple of years ago and thought it was just okay. I will have to pick one up next time I see it to give it a second chance.
Now blind the winners of all the levels together.
If your definition of a unicorn is a normal person can not get this product even if he show up to the liquor store everyday than you'd have to consider OWA a unicorn. Outside of your barrel pick, I find that other stuff all the time. I have yet to find a single barrel of any style of weller on a store shelf. If unicorn has to do with price than ok. One can find owa on the secondary for $200, pretty much equal price as three ECBP.
The antique Is the best of available Weller, I have but haven't cracked the C923 yet, I've heard great things though. Never saw that Makers unfortunately. Taylor is so different than most of the others it doesn't surprise me, a little more rye forward!
Sometimes there’s a reason for the hype 🤓
Love the recent editing you guys have been doing. Really kicks it up a notch and gives me a laugh.
I tasted Weller Antique 107 a few times and love it. I scored a bottle in Ohio in April for $49.99.
Please consider doingo a series based on proof ranges rather than price. 80-90; 90-101, 102-110, 110-120, 130 and over. Keep up the good work.
It would be interesting to do the same lineup, but also add in like the top 3-6 unicorns. See how they stack up.
Would love to see a unicorn blind!!
Also some other blind ideas
Best Cask strength Blind
Best High Rye Blind
Best Full Proof Blind
Best High Wheated Blind
Best State Blind minus Kentucky of course
Best Single Malt Blind
The possibilities are ebdkess 😂. Keep up the amazing content guys! I love it. 🥃🥃 Cheers!
Trenton: Whatever this is go out and buy every bottle on the shelf
Yeah about that...Weller 107 doesn't exist around here and I'm Texas which is supposed to be Weller country.
Today was a lucky day. My ticket was called in a raffle of 10 bottles and I ended up with a Weller Antique 107 store pick. I’m still on a high.
Great blind. Not surprised with EH Taylor, I've always been disappointed with the SmB whenever I've tried it
Word to the wise, if you're a Dr. Pepper fan, do yourself a favor and pick up some McFuddy's Pepper Elixer. So good.
I think people forget that EH Taylor is a $40 bottle sometimes. Probably because most stores wanna charge you triple for it.
Because of the reveal rankings, this video made me think. Why don’t you all rank the bottles before you try them since you already know what they are… then do blind and rank them afterwards? Maybe a video this way would be interesting.
This is the best Elijah Craig barrel proof I’ve ever had and most likely the best bourbon I’ve ever had so far over everything Buffalo trace
I have never tried the 107 but am sitting on a bottle for a special day, I love cherry vanilla coke and yall saying that makes me even more excited to try it.
What a battle blind. Great video. And like said too bad 107 won cause here in Iowa my self have hunted for 107 and have yet to find one. Cheers 🥃
I've been watching y'all for a while and this is my favorite one yet. But look how far you are down on that Antique. You think that played a factor?
Is there a way to fix the focus of your camera?
Currently, the bar back is the primary focus, you two are marginally out of focus, and the glasses and bottles closer to the camera are out of focus (blurred).
C923 is literally the spiciest hottest Elijah Craig ever!,!!! Trenton’s poor throat! 😜🤣
Now what would be the highest price you'd pay for Antique 107???
2ND?!?========> Silver is a good metal!!!
My bottle of EHT doesn’t have that typical buffalo trace cherry note, either. Maybe they come from the same batch 🤷♂️
Older bottle of Antique. I think they have been corks now for years. Def not 35 anymore either 55+
Don't bother with EH Taylor small batch, find the Single Barrel
Nice series! I think your wife should double blind these in a week or two and see how they line up.
I feel like I’m the only one in the world that finds Elijah Craig barrel proof a little too bitter :/. Do you get that note at all? For me it’s a rich sweet intro but then a bitter oak finish.
I picked up a c923 the other day and a toasted barrel. Love Elijah Craig 🥃
Peanut Butter and Marshmallow Fluff Sandwich was called a Fluffer Nutter.
"I'm gonna be honest with you"......is that saying you usually aren't?
Screwtop Antique 107? Is that from your stash?
Dang I really want to get my hands on EC C923 but those seem to be hard to find out where I live.
EH Taylor is my all time favorite but Weller 107 ain’t far behind.
I’ve been sitting on a bottle of Wellers Antique, excited to open it after watching this video!
One of those $40 bottles you pay $40 for. The other $40 bottle you will NOT be able to get for anywhere near $40
A unicorn double blind of three ~$50 and 3 unicorns would be fun.
Anyone else catch Trenton's face when Kurt said "You know the boys, the other boys turn me on, too..."? (4:15)
I'm clearly one of those in the minority but I just find 107 meh. Full Proof was decent but not anything worth the hype. Now WLW that's a whole different story.
Antique is in my top 5. Maybe it’s not a unicorn where you live but in Texas, it hasn’t been seen on a shelf in 5 years.
I had a pour of EHT small batch along with one from Michters SB. I liked the Michters more.
Yes! Finally Bourbon, Whiskey, Armagnac, Cognac season has arrived!
I'm not much of a drinker and 1 bottle of anything can last 1 year in my home. I prefer Gin and Tonic in the summer. But I've been watching you guys and made my first Bourbon purchase in May and have been waiting for 50°-60° weather to arrive.
Thanks for being such great guides 👍
Hey I’m early
Couldn't edit out the armpit scratching??
Nobody needs to see that.
Wow. A 107 Proof beat out Elijah Craig BP. 🥃
now blind the winners from each dollar group against each other!
Trent, wait till that Dr Pepper gives you those kidney stones.
Need to quit using deodorant with aluminum in it Trenton! That stuff eats your skin.
Arnold Palmer light is right. Unsweetened tea with a splash of lemonade
I must be the only one that thinks 107 tastes like flowers
Did EC open up enough? The bottle looks very full.
Howdy folks! Is Trenton wearing a beret?
Trenton! How can you like candy and diss Bullseyes?!
Take all the winners from each price point and do a champion of champion blind.
Found you guys about two months ago when my husband and I really got into bourbon. Taken your guys advice on quite a few bottles now. We were born and raised in Michigan City now Military stationed in Japan so been lucky to grab some of those Japan only releases!
107 don't even get talked about ,it is such a unicorn
For some reason this channel is so much better when you all disagree some.
love to see a video where yall try err some water in the whiskey...maybe a few drops..
That's a screw cap antique. I've heard they were better back then
Are people seeing Peerless Double Oak Bourbon on shelves?
I was really hoping EC BP C923 would take the win, only because i have 4 bottles in my possession and i doubt ill find a weller 107 any time soon lol. Great show as always gentlemen! Great line up.
Im in Ohio and would gladly trade an Antique 107 for a C923. Amazing how different distribution can be.
Why 4 bottles? Seems like hoarding.
@@dannyfannyfoodleI'm in michigan and would do the same
@@kayleighherr4775 Because its a buy it and back it up type of bourbon. Il possibly make some trades too. Not hoarding, just consider it leverage. Cheers!
@@kayleighherr4775if you like a particular batch what’s wrong with buying enough to last you a couple years?
Is that the Old Weller 107 or the Weller 107. I’ve seen both sold
