I RELAXED MY 4C NATURAL HAIR 4 YEARS AFTER MY BIG CHOP | STEP BY STEP RELAXER

- Hi #TGgang my journey as a natural hair girl has come to an end, and I thought I would share my relaxer experience on my natural 4C hair experience.
Salon I went to : ...
#RelaxerJourney #NaturaltoRelaxer
I’ve done it all. Relaxed, natural, color, henna, braids, and now I’m loc’d. Do whatever brings you peace. I love the results! 🤎
I am also think of locking
@@LebogangMametja20 I’ve been loc’d for a year and I haven’t regretted it yet.
Guuurrl this part right here! I'm 49, with all my silvers uncolored, shaved sides and a long 4a shag- mullet. Like the kids wear today 🤣... but what I've wanted since the 80s 🫡 Life is too ephemeral to be bogged down by other folks opinions. 😪
@@zenbrooklyn Dat part!!!!
I’ve haven’t had locs but I have done all the rest of those plus a perm. Out of all I prefer loose natural. One of best friends has been locked since like 2005. She loves it.
I went natural for two years. As my hair grew it became more difficult to comb constant knots especially in the back and my hair was falling out when I was washing it. I just went and got a relaxer and did it myself at home I feel much better now I can actually comb through my hair.
What we all have to realize is that everyone is different just because someone does something doesn't mean that it's right or wrong we all going to do what is best for us period
Facts 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Yes, relaxers are harsh chemicals. So is the formaldehyde in nail polish. So are any artificial flooring materials, nonstick cooking pans etc etc. And the preservatives in those fast food menus. After surviving 2020, what people do with their hair should be the least of anyone’s problems. Live and let live.
I relaxed mine after almost 5 years natural. And I love not having to do much. Every 2 days just moisture & seal the ends. My hair is almost waist length.Dont miss natural not 1 bit!
Is it because you prefer the straight look?
@@rue80 she said she loves not having to do as much. 😂 like its literally right there
what makes you ashamed to be Black?
@@pinkbutterflies994 but you don't have to do much with natural hair as well
Why couldn't you follow the same regimen when you were natural? Also why did you have to do much to your natural hair? Or were you trying to make it look like what it was not texture-wise?
The person doing your hair should start a channel doing exactly this, watching them massage your head was proper ASMR for me, just the whole process was nice to watch.
THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS MATCH EVERYTHING TO YOUR CURRENT LIFESTYLE 🙌🏽. IM HAPPY FOR YOU SIS & I ENJOY VIDEOS LIKE THIS. AS BW WE CAN WEAR OUR HAIR IN ANY WAY WE LIKE. IT DOESNT TAKE AWAY FROM OUR BLACKNESS.

Hey 👋🏾 we’re
I’m always amazed at the back and forth of BW when it comes to hair. From the whole sisterhood a couple of years back on learning how to take care of our natural hair yet now there seems to be an exodus back to relaxers. I went natural when I cut my hair because of a break up I honestly didn’t go into it because of the love thyself movement. BUT I can’t imagine relaxing my hair ever again 🙅🏿♀️
I just cut my hair completely bald where you can see my shiny scalp literally 👩🦲 I’m going natural for 4 years they I’m relaxing it . Natural hair is cool but I it’s frustrating at the same time I love relaxed and natural but 4d hair is annoying
@@TellyTingz2000 same, I shaved my hair off
I went to locs after 12 years natural. I'll never do a relaxer ever again. It's terrible for our health overall
@@TellyTingz2000 I heard about "Lit Curls" that temporarily makes your hair look like a curly perm until you wash it out! It's $70 online! It looks amazing but I'm still trying to grow my hair out. I'm going to start using the Clove water method and the Hair Growth Co oil mixed with castor oil.
Sisterhood?? No thank you. Natural girls literally bash other women for the decisions they make on their OWN hair. Y’all walk around like you’re entitled and supreme when in actuality y’all are annoying. Everyone has different hair experiences and I will never go back to natural again. I literally couldn’t comb my hair despite all the things I did. So no offense you can take your sisterhood and ✌🏾
its always years after big chop/being natural i relaxed ..... then months after i relaxed i big chopped ..... then my new natural hair journey but yea it is crazy ppl spend more time on natural hair than they do maintaining a relationship with the lord it consumes you it like bondage
The comment I was looking for
I don't blame you one bit. I am the same. I went back to flat ironing my hair. I never had a relaxer . I just used heat. I stopped because I let people in the natural hair community tell me it was not good or natural . Well my hair grows better with heat. I was so sick of those 6+ hours of wash days and hair products which I pay more for now than I do when I flat ironed not to mention my hair was much healthier. I see so many naturals with broke dry brittle hair with ton of products and it don't look good. Heat is not the enemy it's how you use it. I just started back flat ironing my hair it's so much easier and less time consuming. I just don't have time anymore to deal with my natural hair. I need something simple. . Im going back to heat training my hair it was healthy long and I never had issues with damage and so what If it does happen just cut it off and start over. If you can't have fun with your hair no point to have it.
I know its less of a hassle to be relaxed or have straighter hair but whats good never comes easy and the things that are difficult that are worth it, last longer and are healthier. Natural will always be whats best for us all, in every aspect of life. Be blessed
I agree
Agreed 💯
YOU…for you! Everyone’s experience is different and I’m so sick of natural people talking. Do you think the products you use for your hair doesn’t have chemicals? Well breaking news it does. I literally couldn’t comb through my hair despite everything I did. My scalp used to hurt so bad trying to comb my hair and my scalp would get so itchy and dry. I was natural for almost 7 years and I could barely retain hair length. I was miserable being natural and now that I’m relaxed I’m literally relaxed myself.
Amen hun amen 🙏🏽
@@RuthLovesJesus uh calm down. No one said u don't need to be natural ok. Relax.... Do u ok
Same I relaxed my hair last month after being natural for 8 years no never been happier it suits my lifestyle way more and takes no time to style !
I know this stage. I was there at my 7 year mark with my natural hair. I got locs, I'm never going back.
I am so glad you went to a professional to have your hair relaxed. Too many people relax their hair at home because they saw it on UA-cam. The people on UA-cam aren't not licensed professional. Your hair looks beautiful, your video shows a professional doing your hair, I love it. We need more videos like this. Thank you 😊
Welcome to the relaxed hair world… less stress for you my friend 🤣🤣🤣
Real Talk.! I'm about to join the club.💯
😂😂😂
Girl you speak truth 🤣🤣
My hair thrives when I'm relaxed and I'm the contrary it's better for me to retain length, style, take care of, and less stress on my scalp I have more pros being relaxed than natural. But I'm a conspiracy realist and things are getting more n more difficult to attain so I figured it'll be better to transition back to natural while it's early so I'll have a lil length when shit hits the fan.
I'll also be joining soon. The ssks did it for me. Can't deal with the tangles anymore.
I'm i the only one paying attention to Thandy's skin? it's so beautiful & glowing....
Thank you ❤️
The best decision I made was going back to relaxer. My hair grows really fast and is much healthier. Good for you
🤣🤣It's so funny how people have to apologize about saying " Natural hair is hard to take care of", yeeeyy It is very hard to take care of it🤣 I have been natural for almost ten years, I do not see myself relaxing, Kodwa wow sis, Natural hair is a lot, you did yourself a favor
I so agree natural hair is hard to take care of , I opted to cut of all my hair as i didnt see myself relaxing
For some naturals It’s not about the relaxer it’s more about the chemicals that you’re being exposed to during the relaxing treatment. There are many studies linking lye and other compounds commonly found in relaxers to fibroids, cancers, auto immune diseases, etc. Your hair is your hair and everyone can wear the styles they feel most comfortable with, however you only have one life. Do your research 🔬 🧐 !!!!
And naturals have those same issues
Go away please. We don’t care.
Exactly..relaxers pose too many health risks! Exactly 💯 💯 💯
Girl it’s 2022. People know and understand the risks of relaxers. As a woman with locs, allow our sisters to do what works for them instead of the passive aggressive gatekeeping and shaming
@@SureYoureRight exactly. It have things other than relaxers that are harmful to us and we do it every day. Let ppl do whatever makes them happy.
Now I'm tempted to relax my hair cause I've been natural for too long. I love your results girl
Let's all do to our hair what makes us happy. I've been relaxed back to natural back to relaxed back to natural and now I'm relaxed and if I choose I will go back to natural but it is all up to ME. Leave my hair alone and I'll do the same for you.
Right!...I had relaxed hair for years. Then when I was pregnant with my son I went natural. Then I went back to relaxed hair after I had him. Then I went back to natural, years later, back to relaxed hair, shortly after. Honey back to natural for years. And now, ready to go back to relaxed hair. So as you see, I've been, back and forth, over the years. My hair...we can do what we please!
Beautiful hair girl! So so healthy. And yes to less maintenance. Some people really love the process of taking care of natural hair & for others, it just gets tiring. So your reasons for relaxing are valid.
I was natural for two years before I decided to relax again. When it was natural I couldn't do nothing to it and couldn't put a comb through it because it was so course. But if I go over three months without relaxing my hair starts to thin and fall out and I got to start all over again everytime I go too long without a relaxer.
Live your best life sis, I've been natural for many years and I've texturing my hair when it was very short since when my hair is short it won't do anything. A completely relaxed head makes me feel bald and I don't like it, I won't even straighten my hair because within 24 hrs I want my hair back
I’m all for doing what you want with your natural hair !
Yess 🙌🏾🙌🏾✨
The natural and relaxed both look so healthy band absolutely stunning! I used to texlax my 3b hair due to moving to a humid climate but the hair would always break off in the center of my head around the crown and while fairly long, I shed a lot and it was always dry. So I went natural again and I can get my hair how I like it in under 5 minutes, but that is a me thing. Everyone is not the same and some women really flourish with relaxed hair or natural hair and others don’t. Do what makes you happy and stay beautiful. But in all honesty your hair looks so good either way.
Okay okay I
Okay okay I just got home home from work buddy I just got home from work buddy now on my way to work now I’m
You can't compare 3b hair with 4c, sorry! Caring for 4c hair takes much more time and effort.
@@likeagenieinabottle1591 i know we have different challenges with our natural textures and this is why I support everyone doing what makes them feel beautiful. I was raised by people with type 2 hair and they didn’t understand my 3, but it’s all beautiful because it’s ours. I just want less guilt in the curly coily space. She looks amazing no matter what and I just wanted to show some love.
I have 4c hair and flat iron regularly to get the straight look. I like having both options and my hair is still growing well
This whole idea of "Team natural vs team relaxed" is so dumb to me! I'm on team do whatever you want👌🏿🤙🏿
and im anti white supremacy which a relaxed reeks of
@@writteninstars white ppl have nothing to do with this ? u sound obsessed with white ppl get help. relaxed hair is done cuz more styles can be done and kys easier to manage?

The nice things about relaxers is there’s more information now on how to take care of it, grow it long and keep it healthy.
Even though I don’t want relaxers I want to do a silk press especially so I can see how long my natural hair is. But I don’t trust most SA hairdressers lemme wait 5 years and see lol.
So true
Haha same I don't trust them either.
Hi. Where can I find that information ? Especially in SA from SAns.
Sweetie if you want to keep that long relaxed hair never let anyone round brush. If you don't like hooded dryers or air drying your hair natural hair will work best. Direct heat and relaxers don't go together
He was so amazingly gentle and patient. I enjoy watching this video. They did an amazing job. Where is the salon located?
Your hair looks so lush. I've been natural 15yrs. I don't know if I could handle having hair your length. I hope you enjoy this new journey. Your stylist is very talented.
Good for you girl u will enjoy it, I relaxed last year after 3 years natural, I'm doing big chop again next week coz we do what works for you at that point In time, enjoy love you look amazing

Your hair looks beautiful and healthy! 😍I’ve also been going back and forth about relaxing my hair. My problem before was I didn’t do a good job of maintaining my relaxed hair so saw a lot of breakage. Would love to see videos on how you maintain your relaxed hair.
Maintenance is equally demanding, in terms of care but day to day use is easier. Hydration and moisture always and protective styling

I did it...WORST MISTAKE EVER💯💯💯..1 relaxer and I regretted it! ...put my hair back in braids growing the relaxer out that was 2 years ago...still growing out the relaxer
Y’all are annoying. Not everyone wants to spend an entire day doing their hair. Not everyone has 3b toe hair that’s easier to deal with. Some ppl have hair that may be tedious for them to do. My hair is 4a and I got so tired of all the shrinkage, wash days and etc I just locked my hair up. If she wants a relaxer, she can get it. Y’all acting as if she’s holding you down to get one too 🤦🏾♀️

Y’all a weird for coming in a video about relaxing hair just to tell her how bad chemicals are , we all use chemicals from the food we eat, contraceptive and the other things but y’all come in here and act like holy organics lol.
I have been considering relaxing my hair after 5 years of going natural. After watching this video and can safely say, I am relaxing my hair this coming s summer.
Smh
The first relaxer is easy the issue comes with relaxing the new growth and that same relaxer touching on previously relaxed hair damaging it more. So don’t base your decision of first time relax video. Watch other videos from those that have been relaxing for a year or so or keep following this lady’s journey to see how her hair is doing a year from now.

I can relate with the relaxer burns, that is why I went the natural route. It seems relaxing hair is much more expensive now 😩, or is it the Mizani relaxer? Not relaxing my hair anytime soon.
Mizani relaxer has always generally been more expensive because of the steps and amount of products used

Relaxer and Jerry curl are outdated to me but to each it’s own.
That part.
I’m a bit shocked they agreed to relax your hair when it wasn’t in a healthy state. I’m not sure what was going on with all the hair that broke of in the brush, but as long as your happy. You didn’t take care of your natural hair are you for sure going to take care of your relaxed hair?

I've been natural since I was 10 and im now 26. Natural hair has never been hard for me. So my question is is it just hard bc some of you went natural older and you were used to relaxers so it's the change? I'm really curious as what makes it so hard? Maybe bc I've been natural for more than half my life?? But if a relaxer fits your lifestyle then go for it! Your hair looks good either way ❤
@Tanelia Barriffe yeah that's what I was thinking it's actually having been old enough to know what having a relaxer is like and taking care of that. And the switch up.
It is not hard to take care of. The issue is y'all steady manipulating.
I textlaxed my hair last week to loosen my 4c curls a bit and make my hair easier to manage.
How are you liking your hair since you've textlaxed? Does it seem dry?
wow, I love seeing these videos I'm going to leave my 4c hair for 2 more years so it can be even longer.
STIFF WHERE SIS!!!! So in love, it suits you!
Looks nice, I would have recommended you just doing a silk press, relaxing is just not something I recommend especially with such beautiful hair already.
Silk press is a fkin joke. Overpriced and doesn’t hold. Look like Sister Sister in 3 days. All that heat is just as damaging as a perm.
@@wintersantiago2274 Maybe you went to the wrong place, where did you do it? mine lasted 2 to 3 weeks and was crazy silky it was as if I had on a weave sleep, tie it still.

Why does our hair do that at the ends? Like you can see it in the thumbnail. When straight, our ends are clumped together. It’s not flowly
