@@zombug1378 I think the comment using a 10 year old as an example was to prove a point. Medical providers have been known to give puberty blockers to underage kids. Boston's children's hospital had on their website info about hysterectomy procedures for I believe 16 years and older. I admit it's been awhile since I've looked into the relevant information but just outright dismissing people's concerns is not helpful either. Transgender people should have a safe life of course. When activists go on about how just having the conversation is putting their lives in danger is in my opinion nonsensical gibberish. Wish you and those close to you nothing but the best.

Ben is absolutely correct. I remember when I was under the age of 20. There’s no way I was mentally or emotionally capable of making such decisions. I wasn’t sure of a whole lot of things until I completed 8 years of college. People generally don’t fully mature, with some exceptions, until their late 20s or early 30s. Of course you will always find people who never mature and never make good decisions.
Except for the fact that only 2.5% of people who transitioned as a child choose to transition to the gender of their biological sex. The largest reasons for this are pressure from family and discrimination (mainly taking on the form of lack of employment). Furthermore the statistic I mentioned at the beginning is tiny in comparison for other operations such as a knee operation of which 30% of people regret having. Yet there is no movement to stop that. If a gender reassignment surgery or undergoing hormone therapy is the only thing that will prevent someone committing suicide, surely it should be allowed, right?

It is not true that people with critical thinking laugh at Ben Shapiro. In fact, many people with critical thinking both agree and disagree with him. That being said, those who do disagree with him still attend his lectures in order to gain more wisdom and insight on his thoughts and beliefs. It could be argued that engaging in debates require critical thinking in order to arrive upon the most logical conclusion. Therefore, it can be concluded that some people understand the importance of debating issues in order to improve their understanding and expand their knowledge.
It is also false to claim that Ben Shapiro is "perpetually wrong" about other issues besides abortion, climate change, and gays. Every person encounters matters in which they may lack complete knowledge or expertise; this does not mean they are perpetually wrong on all other issues. We have no way of absolutely knowing if Ben Shapiro is right or wrong on every issue so this statement stands unsubstantiated by facts or evidence.
Overall, we must remember that everyone has different opinions when it comes to beliefs on different topics; this alone doesn’t make a person right or wrong but simply an opinion one may choose to stand by or against depending on the information available and one’s individual beliefs towards the matter being discussed.

It is objectively false to call it a delusion. A delusion is an inherent belief in something that is objectively false. The 'trans women are women' thing comes from gender ideology, not gender dysphoria. Gender dysphoric people do not actually believe that they are the gender that they aspire to look like, if that is what they want to do after exhausting other options. Gender ideology is a product of someone who isn't even gender dysphoric (John Money). There were transsexuals doing their thing without the influence of John Money for decades until the mainstream child groomers came along. Do not group the child groomers with the transsexuals who do not deny any objective truth and made the decision as an adult after exhausting other options.

Agreed, if I encounter someone that has decided they are not their biological gender I'm not going to go out of my way to call them their real gender just like if someone was named Bob at birth but they prefer to go by the name Jake I'll use the name they prefer just to be polite. However, if I see a document calling them Bob and I address them as Bob I'm not going to apologize for calling them Bob because I didn't know they wanted to be called Jim. by the same token if you were born a man and it is clear you were born a man I'm not going to apologize for thinking you are a man nor am I going to waste my time asking what your pronouns are before I talk to you.
The problem is, conservatives also tend to overestimate, fearmonger, and attack what they perceive as overreach when either the thing they're afraid of isn't happening or isn't as intense as they claim -- and it results in a harmful backlash. They pretend "oh I'M not saying anything bad about trans people..." but then they go and associate it with "evil, corrupt, baby-eating liberals" and all logic is thrown out the window.
For example: medically transitioning a child, to my knowledge, DOES NOT HAPPEN. At best, they are given puberty blockers. Which, if you have objections about that, great -- let's talk about that. But we can't have an honest "critical thinking debate" when we're being thrown misinformation every 2 seconds and it's just gobbled up mostly by the right.

As a physician and a scientist (M.D,PhD), I would like to make clear that 1) we do not employ the word “gender” in the natural sciences as this is a social concept. 2) Although you may have learned that XX is a woman and XY is a male, that is because biology like math is foundational, so many concepts are simplified in the primary and secondary educational settings. In the scientific community we have robust debates on terminology and arrive a consensus based on the current body of knowledge. The XX and XY concept of biological development is considered incorrect in scientific literature. In science, we first distinguish between people who are or are not capable of developing primary (before puberty) and secondary (after puberty) sexual characteristics. This is because there are four genotypes that can give rise to a female with primary sexual characteristics (XX, XO, XXX, and XY (rare cases). Only two genotypes, however, give rise to both primary and secondary characteristics and fertility (XX, XXX). It is interesting to note that all fetuses will develop primary female characteristics unless the presence of one gene on the Y chromosome is present and functional. The scientific community first defined a female as anyone without a functional SRY gene, and male as any viable fetus with a functioning SRY. Whose genotypes may be (XY or XXY, OY is not viable).
The point is that this is a complicated issue treated much differently in the natural sciences, so please refrain from invoking biology or science in anything related to the trans debate. These are purely social issues not scientific ones.

This is the perfect nuanced response to that question. Matt Walsh was asked the exact same thing and he lost his cool and was afraid to just say it's fine if an adult wants to do that. He's become so known for being against trans ideology that he's unable to respond without trying to smackdown the question and he has become a shill for his fans and doesn't want to seem even a tiny bit okay with people choosing to assume a different gender even if they're 50 years old.
I don't think there's actually a lot of difference between Matt and Ben's stance. There is a big difference between being ok with an adult playing pretend, and accepting that there is some objective reality to what that adult is pretending. Neither have any obligation to play pretend with you, and Matt has only ever rejected that which can't be explained upon examination.

And there will be no winning for the right on this topic if they say that adults should also be forced to not consider themselves the opposite sex or if they’re forced to not cross dress or whatever. It’s America and if you’re an adult you can make stupid personal decisions if you want to. Where it matters and where laws should be made is regarding children. 100%. The focus should stay on that because it’s a battle that could actually be won and has logic and reason on it’s side. Once you start restricting freedom of speech and expression for adults you get into slippery territory and the last thing we need is for this pendulum to swing back from the far left to the far right. The fact that the right is winning and will win almost all these real world battles means the right needs to ease up a bit and continue to rest on logic and reason and leave anger and emotion out of this because it makes us seem ignorant and the debate is so easy to win we should all be just calmly dismantling every argument with facts.

Also, babies and toddlers get innoculated needles are painful but it is for their own good and noone ever complained about parents acting responsibly for their children in that way. When i was a wee boy in the mid 70's, i'm talking probably between the ages of 3 and 8, i used to 'dress up' in my sisters skirts occasionally during the summer. I used to play about with my Mothers make-up and pretend to be a girl for 20 minutes. Afterwards, the make up was rubbed off and i was back to playing with my cars, my Action Man or my Evel Knievel. My parents were OK with it, as i was a wee boy playing.
Imagine i was a child now. My parents catch me with my sisters skirt on, slapping on my Mums make up. I'd be sat down and asked 'how i felt?' ,'Do you feel like a girl?', 'Do i want to be a girl?'. Of course in that exact moment i might reply that 'Yes, i want to be a girl.' Before my mascara could have a chance to run, i'd be wheecht off down to the Dr and being lined up for 'realignment' surgery. I'd be confused, scared, no doubt my parents would be assuring me that it was OK to want to be a girl and that they'd do all they could to make that dream a reality. I'd be talked into believing that i really wanted to be a girl, even though in my 5 year old mind i had absolutely no idea what that actually meant...

Not transitioning is what actually hurts trans children.
Being forced to grow with a wrong gender is what actually hurts trans children.
Being forced through an harmful puberty is what actually hurts trans children.
This is wrong - gender dysphoria isn't absolute. Kids can and will grow out of it when they finish puberty.
