My heart bleeds for that poor uber driver---completely innocent and just trying to make a living. What a travesty!
Scammers drive young guys to suicide in a few hours
That's exactly how I feel too.
I know. I'm an Uber driver myself. 😢. Poor lady.
maby she was with the scammer?
I’m not black but it’s obvious still not safe to be black Americans anywhere in this country!
I don't give a fuck if it was a scammer or not, she was not a threat, she was not armed, this is murder, bottom line.
She was not *in fact* armed, or a threat, but the scammers had given him plenty of reason to assume that she was, and created a situation where anything she tried to do to make herself look non-threatening would make her appear to be more deeply involved with the scammers, and thus, more threatening.
@@JonBraseI have never read anything more pathetic than that. This geezer was trigger happy and was stupid to be not see the scammed BS.
@@JonBrase Question: So why did he choose to believe the scammer over the woman?
@@cbesthelper404 Because the scammer had said she'd show up, and she did. And if she actually were involved in the scam, and were armed, (but still had her weapon concealed), and had been planning to kill him if he didn't produce the money, and if he got the drop on her, you'd expect her to lie through her teeth to save her life, and then to kill him once his guard was down.
@@JonBrase He had every ability to not let his guard down, so the point about her killing him once his guard is down is an academic one.
He could have not let his guard down by staying inside. He could have not let his guard down without having to shoot her.
After he shot her the first time, he could have avoided letting his guard down by retreating himself.
This maniac had full control throughout and behaved aggressively for the duration.
Did it never occur to him that perhaps she was innocent? Did he entertain that there was even just a remote chance that she was? No!! And that was a decision that he made willingly.
It would have crossed his mind that she might be innocent had she been a 25-year-old blonde. That would have confused him enough to let his guard down and back off. But this murderer SAW her as not possibly being anything else but guilty, or at least he PRETENDED that he thought she was guilty to give himself an excuse to kill her.
Bottom line, no need to shoot and certainly no need to shoot multiple times. Suppose that were your mother?
He is not a victim. He is an aggressor. He left his home.....not having fear of the unarmed woman who could hardly walk. He then proceeded to murder that innocent woman.
@EmilDamil-wt1yfhe did not have to come out of his house. He could’ve pulled the police from inside his home and never open the door.! Then the woman would still be alive.
He killed her. And yes, he was scammed, but he still killed this woman.
I agree!
@EmilDamil-wt1yf lol, a victim that killed an unarmed woman. get out of here
@EmilDamil-wt1yf he stopped being a victim the second he shot at an unarmed person that was trying to leave MULTIPLE TIMES.
He yt, so hes gonna be protected. They will make up whatever they feel they need to to save this guy.
Yeah, he wasn't scared at all. He was the aggressor completely and even followed her when she tried to leave and took her phone. He should spend the rest of his life in prison.
I mean if he has dementia, as I did see reported in an article, it's possible his reaction is because of his dementia.
Dementia patients don't have the same decision making capabilities as someone without dementia might. They don't have the ability to think through things. And they're notoriously known for being quick to anger & agitation.
My great grandmother wrapped a phone cord around my sister's neck when we were kids. We had been pranking her calling the phone so she would answer and no one would be there. She caught on hearing us laughing & just reacted. She had Alzheimer's. My grandmother gets angrier more quickly now. It's hard not being able to remember things you know you should be able to. It's scary not being able to understand what's happening to your brain. You can't reason with someone with this kind of condition when they are angry & feel like they're being questioned. I imagine the woman not knowing what he was talking about made him angry bc he prob thought she was lying. So, I think dementia could absolutely have played a role in why he reacted the way he did in a situation we can look at & see a better reaction. Especially if he had been getting calls & feeling unsafe. One article I read said the scammer threatened to harm his family if he didn't do what he asked. Maybe he thought he couldn't call police about the calls bc he feared what might happen if he did? I don't know what happened. But I do think it's a tragedy all around for everyone involved.
The gun and dementia combo ahhhh
@@brittneyzarwel6242 people with dementia should not own firearms.
And how about the crappy scammer who created all this?
If he has dementia, should he have a gun? Common sense gun laws might’ve helped. Driver’s licenses get taken away, but guns, meh. Good old second amendment…
Why shoot her? She's literally backing up shouting help!! Help me!
Hate crime.
I assume he was trying to keep her from leaving before he called the police by using threats, then opted to shoot her because she wasn't complying. Awful. Whole situation could have been avoided if he just stayed indoors and contacted the police immediately.
@@steveptasznik6147 probably been waiting his whole life for justification to shoot a Black person.
All he needed was her license plate number
@@steveptasznik6147 it was not about race.
If he REALLY thought she was the “scammer” why did he even open the door? Why didn’t he just call 9-1-1 ?
Because they all think they are Dirty Harry and “I’m going to clean up this town.”
Been waiting his whole life to find a reason to fire his weapon on someone...
Cognitive decline is a b*tch. There's lots of old people who shouldnt still be driving, let alone own guns
Exactly!
Because he wanted to shoot his gun
For what it is worth. My 96 year old Grandmother was called by a scammer. He told her that her Grandson, Andy (me), had been arrested and was going to go to jail and they said they could help get me out if she sent money. She was scared and confused. The guy got her so upset, she called 911 because she thought she was having a heart attack. She called me hysterical yelling at me for me being in trouble. I was sitting at my desk 3000 miles away working. They are disgusting animals that attack the elderly. It took her days to calm down. This stuff is real folks. I feel so sorry for that woman. She did not deserve this. God rest her.
Scammers pulled the same thing on my late grandmother about 15 years ago. Her son, my father, was in bed sleeping and she didn't think to call him to verify the story. She just gave the scammer her credit card info. The psycho was never caught.
old ppl are not human
dont have old ppl number in phone registry , dont answer with a voice but a touge click tounge .
My grandma got that same call a few months ago. She called me, and THANKFULLY I answered. Yes, I was at Hooters and a little tipsy, but all the while NOT behind bars. Haha!
The scary thing is not only was your grandma targeted but the criminal actually took the time to research your family to find out your name, relationship to her etc. to make the story sound plausible. That took a little effort, which means somebody was watching for a while.
Honestly the stupidity of that old man pulling a gun on an unarmed woman who was only guilty of being mistaken by the scammers too. The old man should be charge for murder as well as the scammers.
Boy you are clueless
Exactly. IDK why the federal government doesn't put more of an emphasis on stopping scammers and what they're doing. SMH.
Key element wasn't stupidity, it was hatred. At least that's what I'd bet on. Not that there is anyway to prove it, and we will likely never know what went wrong in him. But IMO he, like many people, was likely glued to a tv consuming MSM propaganda. He's paranoid, hateful, and foaming at the mouth to get to use his gun and be hero. Even if she was an accomplice, if his goal was to save his family, gunning down the middle man is the exact opposite of how that would be achieved. He didn't care if she was involved, didn't care about his family, he just wasn't going to let this chance to live out his fantasy slip through his fingers. And I'm not the type to say things like this, but even I gotta say, her being black was probably a big factor. If it was a younger white girl, I doubt he'd have been so eager. That poor girl.. this man deserves prison for life, and I doubt he cares, because he's already got to live a full life. I'd bet that played a role in his decision too.
@EmilDamil-wt1yf Unknowingly

You can kill only in self defense, the definition of defense would require that there be a attacker. She may have been a scammer you 100% right about hindsight being 20/20 how could he have known, but he 100% knew she wasn't attacking him thare for his self defense go's right out the window. He should be charged but more importantly the scammer should be charged as well.
Lot of people confuse self defense with Retaliation. You are not entitled to your pound of flesh in a civil society and just because you have been wronged dosnt mean you have the right to deal out punishment.
@@robertstone9988 Yep 💯 Perfectly said !!!
As a 65 year old I get phone calls from unknown numbers a lot…….i don’t answer them and they never leave a voicemail
Sure sign of scams and telemarketers! Friends and family and legit businesses leave messages. 😉
I know someone who was scammed out of 100K a couple years back. She's 83 years old and continues to have a texting relationship with her "friend" and also continues to send money via Steam cards. She just refuses to believe anyone and now only trusts the scammer.
Logic would say the scammer was actually his nephew or someone working with him.
I can't believe this happened. What a crazy story!
I can't believe they gave this man a bond.....This just broke my heart for this woman....Rest in power Lolitha❤
He was charged with felony murder already by DA Doc!!! He is toast for his unreasonable act! He is going to prison! Such terrible judgement!
I hope he is convicted before election day.
@@GH-oi2jfnah there’s enough uneducated idiots that will vote for Biden still…
He's out on bond. His defense attorney will probably drag the case out for years with delays; until he either dies of old age or becomes incompetent to proceed.
@@GH-oi2jf no Trump is not going to let this old guy go free! It was a clear murder and she wasn’t the scammer. He is going away. It’s sad 😞
Sounds like the dude wanted to shoot someone. Terrible situation, but wonderful analysis as usual Dr. G.
He WANTED to KILL….ANY BLACK person!!!!! THIS was ALSO a RACE BASED HATE CRIME!!!!!
I know several old people who just sit in their house all day watching the hate-filled propaganda on Fox News and getting angrier and angrier. My grandmother was one of them. She spent her life helping poor/minority children in public schools, but by her final years she was so brainwashed by Fox News that she would spout hate constantly and even physically attacked a couple of brown people, one an hispanic man working in her neighborhood who she referred to as "another damned illegal" . My entire family was relieved when she passed away and we didn't even have a funeral for her because no one liked her anymore.
"Sounds like" "I think" "I feel"
All irrelevant.
@@AmonAnon-vw3hrpreach it
My opinion, When he saw Lolita was black, he became more angry because his racism caused him to be more aggressive.
There is absolutely no way to know that. And the whole "racist" thing is getting really boring and irrelevant, don't you think?
@@brandonfreeman4375 what is really boring is YOUR PERSISTENT DENIALISM!

I'm sorry, but the scammer chose an elderly person because they are easier to confuse and trick, and then he threatened the old man and sent another person in to unknowingly take part in his criminal activity. The scammer holds the majority of the responsibility for this woman's death. Not all of it, but more than 50%.
I like that picture of Lolita with the pretty braids, eyeglasses, and red blouse. She really looks beautiful.
I'm so sorry to her family and friends for their loss. She looked so afraid in that video clip. She was closed in on herself.
I pray all of you heal.❤
WHERE was she supposed to DELIVER the package??????
I want to know too. Scam lead to death, yet they made no attempt to find anybody.
To someone that will mail the cash, or convert it to giftcards, or cryptocurrency. That person may be paid a percentage or they may be another scam victim.
You would have thought they could access the Uber account that ordered the taxi
@@joedirt1965 Great so then you investigate where THEY were instructed to leave the giftcards or mail the cash or which crypto address (Almost nobody knows how to roll their own crypto wallet address and keys etc, even on dedicated enthusiast forums, extremely likely they're on or were initially on an exchange or commercial wallet and can be identified), obviously.
Why is noone asking these questions except youtube comments?
This is so incredibly sad for this woman and her family. 💔
he needs to go to prison for life. this man had no business having a gun
I am very sad for all involved. Elderly people are so easily confused by scammers. My elderly parents have been frequently targeted. These Scammers have no morals!
Yes, scammers drive you mad.
For all involved? This man killed an innocent woman, she's the only victim here. He is alive & probably suffer little or no consequences. But of course you see his humanity as you see yourself in him. Her on the other hand..... oh well!
@@bellepierre24 These are just your own assumptions and that is all. There is no way to know this. Also, he is probably going to spend the rest of his life in jail, and this what you call "little or no consequences"!? It's very easy to judge when you have no experience with scammers. I want to see how you will fare when you, or someone in your family gets scammed.
@@brandonfreeman4375he lost NOTHING in the scam. PERIOD he knew it was a scam before she showed up for the package which he had no intentions of handing over to her. This killer is just another idiot with a gun. He wasn’t looking for justice from a scammer, he was seeking revenge on an innocent woman.
This is just so tragically preventable...sad all round...scammers should face charges too
you talk like he's so innocent. It was preventable, because that's what murder is. She was limping before he shot her in the leg, she's to big to move fast. She tried to beg for her life and said "lets talk". He had his gun ready and loaded with his finger on the trigger. As soon as she said lets talk, he must have knew not to talk since murdering her would be harder. not only he murdered an innocent hardworking woman. but everyone related to her. I bet she has a family to support.
The scammer is a scammer and of course did something illegal but I don't really think he forced the elderly man to shoot her in cold blood
All around? Not at all. What is tragic is that poor woman getting shot. That guy is a murderer and never should've gotten bail.
Off topic.....I just wanted to say I luv the pic of your fur baby!
I feel so bad for what she had to go through and for her family. Even if he 100% thought she was a "scammer" you can't shoot someone for being a scammer, I don't understand what he was thinking and he was extremely malicious about it. And if he actually thought they had his family member hostage how would killing the person he killed lead to the safe return of his family member?
EXACTLY
I agree with you, William Brock is guilty. That Uber driver was murdered in a senseless way.
I think William wanted to shoot his gun.

Someone track that scammer down. This is disgusting
Its essentially a swat. Caller is guilty of murder.
Sounds like the police flubbed their best opportunities to catch the scammers.
sad story
I drove for Uber
that poor woman could have been me
William was in over his head
very sad
I feel bad for Ms. Hall and am disturbed by Mr. Brock's actions, but my real rage lies with the scammers.
I am really scared of gun owners in this country. Look how a this man gunned down another human! This is so sad. My neighbor came to me to tell me what I should do about bags of leaves waiting to be picked in my yard. I honestly just froze because what crossed my mind was a situation like this that can go bad quickly. I think gun owners are becoming more and more irresponsible.
@@Yellow-Rose No he's not. He's at home on bail.
He is a rare minority of otherwise many responsible gun owners.

There are plenty gun free paradises you can move to. Like the UK. You only have to worry about getting shanked by knives over there. But at least it won't be a scary gun!
@tristan583 the evidence for which is exactly 0.
Again, your fantasies are irrelevant.
So so sad. 😢 That old man temperament got the best of him
William should go to prison for the rest of his life. Was he that stupid to not realize it was a scam and he didn’t need to give anyone money? The poor woman was obviously not involved, the old man was looking for a reason.
For a man his age, there is a very real chance that he has dementia. I can't imagine that many lucid people acting like this in such a scenario. I have a grandparent going through dementia right now. He gets very confused. I could easily see him falling for scams like this. My mom wound up taking his phone. Just throwing it out there that the old man might not be "all there".
Yup he was
The expression of fear and confusion on her face absolutely breaks my heart
Totally agree Dr G. Poor lady, heartbreaking. He thought he could be the judge and jury and had a right to take the life of the uber driver lady.
Something similar happened to my mom somebody called her and told her these elaborate stories kept her on the phone for hours. Luckily she called my sister and I and we told her it was a scam.
Why was this dangerous murderer allowed to get out on bail?
This question comes up again and again. A person can be held without bail only when judged either a danger to the community or a flight risk. I expect as a condition of bail he has been required to surrender any firearms in his possession.
It's on film. He is a danger to the community
He's a guilty p.o.s.. setting a bail for someone who's guilt is known is dismissing the crime as a crime. The judge is guilty
Unless the defendant is a flight risk or a danger to the community, bail must be granted.
It's obvious why he got off with a bond. First and foremost, America. He lives in a corrupt government called America. Of course, he is old, he is stupid, and finally, he is the proper color. And let me add. It's a money-making "justice" system.
When put all those reasons together. It ends up being another African who is taken out by a crazed sick ignorant hell-bent racist. That's so-called American justice. It's really all about money. Money answers all things in America. 😢
My soul aches for this woman and her surviving family. My God, what a way to go. Imagine if there werent any footage. 💔
This was beyond tragic. I hope they find the scammer who played this cruel joke. Rest in peace Loletha Hall.
How can an individual get charged with murder and 2 felony murder charges (3 murder charges) for the same murder. Reports say the felonies he committed were felonious assault and kidnapping. By their logic, shouldn't he get a 3rd felony murder charge since murder is also a felony.
The elements of the crimes are different. DA's typically charge them in the alternative.
3 murder charges:
Murder 1
Murder 2
Manslaughter
Got it!!!!!!!
Can't Uber tell the cops who ordered the pickup?? They'd have an account & address she was supposed to deliver to. 🤷🏼♀️
Scammers typically use money mules. That's how they get the money out of the country. I would hope the police followed through.
Absolutely the scammer must be held accountable!
I appreciate all the visuals you typically add to your videos to add depth to your analysis. Great analysis, Dr. G❤
I love that you research the laws and statutes of where the crimes takes place. That makes it more understandable and clear. Thanks for covering this one. Have a great weekend
I'd say William was worse than the scammer. He actively chose murder, not just threats. He wasn't a dementia patient and knew right from wrong when he shot her THREE TIMES.
William's a savage. He had a reason to be afraid or worried, but knew his life was not at risk when he figured out it was a scam and Lolitha was unarmed older lady. He wanted revenge and was eager to kill. He was bloodthirsty man, misogynistic, and enjoyed the cruel power trip he was on as he tortured her.
And prob racist as well
What! This is so incredibly heartbreaking!!! That poor lady 😭💔 This is so horrific!
As much as I understand that this man was older, she was wounded and retreating, and his continued attack was completely unnecessary.
Does anyone use these videos as ASMR to sleep? Todd, you have an excellent voice for ASMR
More police departments are paying attention to scammers targeting the elderly. One vulnerability is the trust older folks have in people calling. They believe what's said to them 😢
Thank you for the consistent and quality content, Doc!
