Dr Ben, I would beg to differ about how you dismiss the facial/jaw changes that come from prolonged nasal breathing with high tongue posturing at any age. I don't think it happens quickly, but it will result in a prolonged youthful appearance when correct oral posturing is combined with exclusive nasal breathing. Further, it is one more vital piece of the puzzle for achieving a lifetime of good oral health. Certainly, child and adolescent growth is the most rapid and profound. However, if we examine a patient, who is a bruxier or clencher we often see the exostosis bone growth along the maxillary buccal with large mandibular Tori often coupled by tight oral facial muscles in varying degrees. Muscle is what grows or alters the supporting bones because bone follows muscles or form follows function. If our patients suffer a stroke or other medical condition where the muscles of mastication are paralyzed there will follow significant bone atrophy. Further our geriatric patients, who start favoring softer diets and develop more mouth breathing habits will go from a more youthful rounded facial shape like yourself to the adenoid face which is the long unattractive, tired face.
Yuh i find it so stupid and weird that see manner dentist knows about myofunctional therapy but never speaks out about it and they have no research to orthothropics and what it is.
this guy didn't realize the transformed girl on the left (who im assuming is a year or two older, after nose breathing). that being said the facial structure seems to not have changed that much, but rather that the hair is kept in front and there is much less facial inflammation and excess fat
@@kairon5249Breathing alone is not enough. You must also be eating hard, chewy foods. All of this must be consistent throughout development. Being breastfed for long enough and keeping good body posture is also just as important.
Taping the mouth closed while you sleep sounds so, so dangerous. While unlikely, if you were to throw up in your sleep, the risk of aspirating throw-up is way higher, which can cause severe pneumonia. Don't do experiments like that at home, they can do real harm.
Tons of people sleep with their tongue blocking their entire throat for decades without doing anything about it. That’s way more dangerous than training your body to breath correctly when you’re in your early twenties

A lot of times I have my nose clogged bc of allergies, but I’ve got stuff to clear my nose and at first it was hard. But I’ve hit puberty now and by the time that happened I was nose breathing and so far it looks like I don’t have a mouth breathing face. But I only mouth breathed when my nose was stuffed.
I have a problem and I want to know if there is anything else that can be done or just to get used to it. I really need an honest opinion.
I could include everything in one question, but there would be some details that I hope influence the answer.
When I try to sleep with my mouth closed it automatically opens😂

Oh man, if I can’t breathe through my nose at night I have panic attacks. It’s not comfortable for me to breathe through my mouth. But now I’m hooked on nose spray. I do not recommend anyone ever using afrin type nose spray. Lol
Yeah god, i tried that spray a couple of times and it gave me nosebleeds. Also i find if i breath through my nose sitting for a few minutes up then lie down my nose clears enough
