- If you mouth breathe, have poor sleep, or keep getting cavities in your teeth, YOU NEED to watch this, as mouth breathing has been linked to these issues and more.
Don't worry folks, you can teach yourself to breathe through your nose easy by watching this Doc talk.
You might even increase your endurance.
I started mouth taping about a year ago. My jaw and tongue position gradually corrected naturally without even being concious of it. My sleep quality has improved 100% and my memory recall has shot up dramatically. My dental hygienist says my dental health is the best it's ever been!
Wat kind tape u used
I do tape my mouth too but my tongue still falls a bit down and inbetwen my front teeth with my mouth closed..🙄 At least I breathe through my nose, better than nothing. But I want my tongue to stay where it should be because I am super scared for my teeth I dont want braces and jaw surgery again😭
did your face get better?
your jaw got better?
And how old are you exactly?
I'm usually a mouth breather.Even if I want to stop and breathe through my nose, I have a hard time doing it.When I try to breathe through my nose, I feel like I'm suffocating. What can I do about this?
You find a way to fix it?
Maybe you need lower jaw surgery you may have a narrow airway
I feel like this too it's so hard🙁
@@Janice20001 Look up buteyko unblocking
@@supashaka ok
Thank you
I had to give up bovine dairy in order to breathe through my nose. Alot of people have dairy problems and it blocks up the nose.
I started mouth breathing after having adult braces
Shouldn't it be discussed at home, growing up, 1st
Why are they not teaching this in schools? this is life changing knowledge and most of us came to know only until we were adults.
Schools only teach you so much that you can do basic labour, for everything else you should pay someone else.
I am not sure kids should be taught "how to breathe". In the wrong tiny little hands, this could become a scenario for a bully to harm someone. Just saying, "A little knowledge is a bad thing".
Correction: "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing."
@@maryezell3888 Lol ur wrong
@@maryezell3888 And you think by not teaching children how they should breathe, we eliminated bullying? 😂
Was quite a mouth breather when I was a kid. I used to be told by my mum to close my mouth and stop gaping. At times I thought she was being mean but I guess she was correcting a habit I probably would have carried into adulthood
How do you keep your tongue at the roof of your mouth when your muscles are relaxed? This works great when awake but I find that when my jaw relaxes just before falling asleep my airway closes (like a flap just snaps shut) and prevents exhaling. I never have any problems inhaling just exhaling. I have to sleep on my side or stomach to prevent it since it only occurs when I'm on my back.
A tip for the tounge going to the roof of your mouth just swallow and your tounge should naturally go up
As soon as he said fewer throat infections I was in to try it
Thank you for the video and advice! I have suffered from mouth sores for a long time and I know this is going to be the fix!
Absolutely important!! Been ‘mewing’ for several months now! Many of us have this as children and it changes our facial structure making closing your lips challenging. I’m still working toward that, but changing your tongue position and eating with your mouth closed are great things to do! Thanks Doc!!
yes and knowing how to swallow too...😊
These are all my problems. What’s worst is I see it in my poor daughter’s. They’re both mouth breathers. They have short tongues too. I’m not sure how effective this experience is for them. I will still and willing to teach them since they have been mouth breathers since forever and have always been sick with some obstructions during their time of sleep.
@@roserichards5532 their "short" tongues may actually be caused by them having a short, tight lingual frenulum. Research "tongue tie" and see if this might be relevant to your daughters. It appears as if it is a simple fix.
You know you cant change your facial shape or jaw structure from mewing right!?
@iDTecKt Actually, it's possible. Definitely not easy, however. Young people get quicker and more astonishing results. Thanks for commenting 🙂
I am 21 year old is it too late for me to see some changes on my face if I nose breath?
it is not late but it will take longer time to see results

People continue to grow into their mid-twenties. Breathing through the nose, as he said, promotes breathing a better quality of air, which means more oxygen that carries more nutrition to the muscles and skin. A better complexion is always good, along with good skin care. Aside from that, remember your face is the product of the unique combination of genes gifted to you from hundreds of generations of your ancestors. Congratulations.
How about the swallowing aspect? Saliva pools in the front of my mouth in this correct tongue position and I often need to tongue thrust swallow it out.
My nose is blocked a lot at night . How do you overcome this ?
My dentist told me I was a mouth breather. I just laughed thinking it was a joke. But didn't realise it was a thing. 😮 So now I must learn. I think I started this when I was a teen and my nose got blocked from dust allergy. I eventually just never noticed and the thoughts of only breathing through my nose seems ridiculous. Thanks for advice.
I'm starting to understand why I have a problem. I wear a night guard, that leaves no room for my tongue on the roof of my mouth. Even taping hasn't produced a dramatic improvement in my morning dry mouth.
Omg I just tried it and it just worked am a month breaded this just help me thanks very much 🙏🙏🙏
Wonderful!
Thank you! This is really helpful. I have never had the right tongue position. A dentist I had as a child said I thrust my tongue against the back of my front teeth when I swallow. He suggested holding a life-saver candy up against the roof of the mouth with tongue tip in the hole. The exercises you have suggested are much easier. Could mouth breathing cause heartburn?
How’s your progress now
Check out the side effects of sleep apnea. One form of this is "obstructive sleep apnea", when someone is sleeping and the tongue falls backward into the throat and momentarily blocks the breath until the brain causes the person to gasp. Who knows if this could apply to you? An Ear/nose/throat Doctor (ENT), that's who. Perhaps you should have a sleep study to know for sure. The statistics are "epidemic" and only 20% of people all over the world have been diagnosed. Also you don't have to be middle-aged or older or overweight, though the majority of sufferers are. Lying down with a slack throat and tongue can allow acid to rise into the upper esophagus. Think about this if it really bothers you. Good luck.
Yes it can, when mouth breathing you’re in sympathetic state “fight or flight”, so parasympathetic state “rest and digest” is suppressed, your body produces less stomach acid and causes heartburn
Hey Sarah, you're very welcome! Not sure about the heartburn, but often that's digestive issues as far as I know. It's great to share ideas I've found and so glad it's helpful! 💕
@TrenchScarz HI Trench, still doing it, but boy it takes constant reminding myself! I keep at it though! 🙂
This is very insightful. My girlfriend mouth breathes when she sleeps. Shes 29. Is it possible she can still reverse the effects fully?
yes. there are some people who claims that they still benefit from mewing even at the age of 30+.
Alternatively you can also tape your mouth while sleeping. Im sure there are some products online designed for that somewhere out there.
Eventually, mouth taping will teach her to nose breathe while sleeping.
here are some videos about that: ua-cam.com/video/0lV9zv2_vcg/v-deo.html

Impossible if you have nasal or jaw issues, so go see an ENT Doctor or Orthodontist etc

i literally can’t breathe with my nose anymore when i got sick
Thank you for this video. My mouth salivate more when I do this exercise, do you have any tip for this issue?
@@coffeelatte3019 yes my mouth solvates at night when i tape my mouth and i still gurgle ( snore)
This is amazing, I noticed the difference right away after the clucking. I want normally mouth breathing but I started doing it after training when running when I needed more air. And I guess I didn’t notice I was doing it a lot more. I’m glad I got all these UA-cam recommended videos.
it seems to me impossible to keep this tonge position during sleep
Is it normal if this works but the only problem bothers you is salivating under the tongue and in the mouth when breathing through nose?
I felt like in recent years I don't recognise myself. Like my chin is smaller and I do think this is an issue. It's mad!!!
Thankyou sir
My mouth will not open with my tongue on the roof of my mouth. I know i have a class 3 overbite that wasn't fixed in childhood n my tongue is tied so i presume that's why.
Thank you, I will definitely keep trying, because I breath through my mouth because if I breath through my nose, I don’t get enough air into my lungs 😐 and I hate my jaw it’s ugly and I have a lispe when I say (S) then to say it my tongue will stick out a bit in my teeth and I sound like a spastic 😔
Could be to do with the placement of your tongue
I don’t get enough air when I breath throughout my nose
You need to breathe slowly
Gargle with salt water before bed. It shrinks the back of the throat.
Well if it shrinks it you're going to have more issues lol
😢tears thank you for telling me this. It changed my whole mood and life. God bless you🙏🏽 Thank you. 🙏🏽 Im going to show my 7 and 5 year old this method of breathing. They have the same problem as I do.
Guys, during the nighttime maybe you will get back to natural mouth breathing for that try to use a cloth or hanky or mouth tape then sleep as most of the bacteria attack during the high time.
Omg that Hey Arnold throwback 😂👏🏼
i fucking love you :D i was nose breathing for the second half of this video and smiling, I still am as im writing this thank you so much
This is very helpful! Thank you Doc.
Darth Vader was a mouth breather.
Thanks!
I did this and it totally messed up my bite!
Thank you
Liquid gold.
No sound!
Ok when I put my tounge up it really hurts is it supposed to?
Nah man see a doctor about that
Thank you man!
Gonna try this for certain 👍✌️
Brilliant!
I just love you
My whole life was a lie
Yes, just terrible. Now I have to go lay myself down.
Thanks
Thank you so much.
Thank you man. Thank you.
Thank u because I don't even know how to breathe
Then you would be dead lol
i never noticed i was until i noticed my jaw disappeared and my neck now sticks out
What did you do ab it?
When you say "my neck sticks out", do you mean the tendons? If so, you may be trying too hard. Just place the tongue up to the roof of your mouth. Don't push. Easy.
Thanks doctor!
👏👏
Point of break off with you and all connected persons.
Thanks I mouth breath due to block nasal passages. Have you anything for gag reflex
Was it helpful from the video ?
Thank you so much!!!!! The tongue position helps a lot. When i didn't know this, i though i can never breathe throught my nose and i used to get panic. But as soon as i did what you have told here i was stunned beacuse i was able to breathe through my nose properly.
What I did bhai
thanks doctor
