- Hey everyone! It's been a while since I've put an EAS video out there, so here's a simulation of a nuclear attack - with a twist.

For people curious:
What's going on: an EAS alert interrupts TV, but malfunctions within the Emergency Alert System make it hard to tell what's happening. Interruptions within the EAS make people wonder what's going on. Then at the last second the EAN warns that 275 nuclear Russian missiles are heading towards the United States, but at that time it's too late.

It's supposed to do that cause.its supposed to look like the eas is glitchung out and making it look like it's a false alarm and displaying the wrong message such as when there is nukes and it says an emergency action termination INSTEAD of and emergency action notification. Also it's cutting out and stuff and the voice glitchiness making it even more terrifying and repating the same message over and over instead of updating people causing confusion. Thus unprepared-ness then death. R.I.P in pepperoni
Shout-out to the fact that this is the TV display on it's own. You could imagine at first the viewer is annoyed as hell at first but then getting more scared. By the time we get about half way in they're gone or calling the cops/looking online. Great job m8

Nice touch, especially the malfunctioning EAS voice on channel 11 at around the 5:00 minute mark. I can all too clearly imagine the rising sense of panic flipping through channel after channel trying to get some info, ANY info, about an EAS alert for the entire continental US and coming up empty..... and by the time you get the full story it's already too late. Chills, actual chills, and I jumped when the TV cut out. VERY well done!

It's always THAT layout that always malfunctions.
These are the most realistic and terrifying emergency alerts I have seen yet. Hats off to you sir for the creativity.
I always laugh at the part about not using the phone. As if people aren't going to start calling loved ones as soon as stuff starts to go down. I hear that on others as well, but you have to know no one will do that.
You may only be able to get a text out. Towers will be jammed with everyone doing the same thing or if the govt could override the tower and keep it free for their use.
Landlines may be a little better but not by much.
The static. The sudden static always gets me! Very good with the emergency alert.

I’ve seen so many versions of “lost in silence” but this one, by far is the scariest. Thanks I guess? I really only have myself to blame, for watching this at midnight.

I loved how you incorporated many different screen designs for this scenario! Realistic, though I personally think that the "Lost in Silence" trope and type of scenario is done to death at this point.

You have me addicted to these. I grew up during the Cuban missile crisis. Though very young, it left an impression on me as I grew older and realized what happened. This strikes me right to the bone. Keep it up. You may be the most enlightened voice out there.

The way it's been done really gives me the idea that if such scenario were to happen, many people would be indeed lost in silence. Even worse... lost *to* the silence. It's frightening and potentially very real.

jayfeather31 - Admittedly, there's no beating Matt Yarnold, but if you improve your design, your videos can be better than Jakob Hill.
HyperБ2002 Personally, I think having an interesting developing plot is more important than the best looking EAS slides. scpparamus' slides aren't nearly as nifty visually as matts or even Jakob's, but his Halloween specials (I don't care for the weather scenarios) are almost always really interesting and fun to watch because of the way the story develops and unfolds.
Doesn't have to be realistic to get me tuning in, just novel and creative.
That blue-and-red EAN screen makes me want a nuclear blast to turn toward to give my eyes a rest.
I love realistic scenarios, and I think this is an interesting idea. The whole 'can't find the news!' stress does build up...but it overstays its welcome a bit, I kinda feel. There's a point where it goes from ramping up tension to the viewer reaching for the mouse and skipping ahead in the video. If this were closer to 8-10 minutes or so this would be more effective...in my personal opinion. Still, a fun watch and I'm glad people are still making these!
it kinda has to be this long though because if it was shorter then it would be 15-20 minutes instead of 10-15 minutes and I dunno about you but 5 minutes extra GTFO time is pretty valuble

4:20 love how the CGEN crawl text says "Emeegency Action Notification Network" instead of "Primary Entry Point System, meaning that the sation's EnDec was outdated to the point where the originating authority for EANs was SAME code EAN, instead of the current PEP, highlighting the station's failure to keep their EnDec firmware up to date.
