😂😂😂
I just spent 15 minutes scrolling back to find this video so I can thank you for it! I hadn't saved or liked it but I remembered it when I sat behind my kit the day after I watched it. I practised this for 2 hrs straight on Monday and another 2 hours yesterday and already it feels like a blockage has been removed from my brain! Such a simple exercise yet massive benefits. I consider myself a pretty OK drummer but I've always struggled with "flow" when just noodling and I'm feeling the benefits already :o) Thanks man
Man that’s awesome, thank you. It really does change the game, I know! These patterns are so useful and fun to work around the drums. Good job for putting in the work and super happy to hear you’re already seeing results! 👊🏼🙏🏼
Might be a good idea to explain that your playing these patterns in 16th notes. Especially for beginner drummers, they may need to start these patterns at a 1/4 note or 1/8 note rate, rather than jumping to 16ths or 16th not triplets. Also note that the 6 note groupings in 16th notes creates a 3 over 2 pulse over the 1/4 notes pulse, and that most drummer phrase the 6 note groupings in 16th note triplets since it doesn't require the pattern to go over multiple beats. I think for beginners it would be something significant to point out as the video seems to be aimed at beginner or early intermediate players trying to work on good useful fill ideas/concepts that can be incorporated into ones playing rather easily. Last I'd say it's something to point out that the 1st 6 note pattern works well in 1/8 or 1/16 note triplets where as the 2nd 6 note pattern works well in triplet phrasing or 16th (also 32nds w/a quick right foot or double bass). Otherwise great playing & the kit/setup sounds on point for sure!
*you're
Yes can you tell me how the Rlrllk fits over the 4/4 pulse pls? I cant count it it's not like the 6 stroke roll its playing over the bar line I'm. Sure
Can't give everything away for free bro.
Simply brilliant! 👏👏👏👏👏👏
It is amazing what muscle memory is capable of. You executed that beautifully and flawlessly!

Thanks!
Word up Eric! Enjoyed it
Thank you dude ✌🏼👊🏼
Shia always with the good stuff
So Nice dude
excelente Muy bien explicado saludos desde CDMX
Wonderful exercise in discipline. Been using this basic concept for many years. I would also suggest stretching it to a quintuplet base--i.e., R(L)(L)KK
R(L)R(L)(L)KK
completing the exercise with reversal of hands.
Thank you for your answer. I look forward to your Videos in 2022! Take care!
Amazons Dude 🤩
thank you so much for this content
from any lefties learning drums on a right handed kit. What were your hemisphere roadblocks?
Nice one, Eric!
Thanks!

Great content! Brand new viewer here and I appreciate your upbeat and positive explanation. I've been playing for over 20yrs and this lesson was a breathe of fresh air. Great stuff my friend and great playing! Blessings
Awesome man! I’m very happy to hear that, thank you 🙏🏼👊🏼✌🏼
You don't happen to have an app instead of DVDs to you
Thank you sensei Freddie
👨🏻🤘🏼
Thank you, Eric. You're an amazing drummer and an amazing teacher. Once I will commit to regular practice, I'd love to participate in your courses. Oh... rocking a stache these days, you can actually pull it off :)
Haha 👨🏻 🙏🏼 Thank you Sam! I appreciate that very much. Looking forward to you joining the site man ✌🏼
Ahh been searching for a lesson just like this for so long. I started playing late in life and self taught to play in punk hardcore band .so I’m trying to become more well rounded now. This is great!!! Thank you
That’s great to hear man!
Awesome
Good stuff, really enjoyed it. Great energetic personality. New subscriber but long time drummer always looking for something new. Keep up the good work.
Thank you!
The explanations of the patterns are clear and inspiring, but what I think differentiates your teaching this is how you explain how this helps improve flow, and how to learn to move the patterns around the kit! Your advice to get it right is the first priority, then take it up to speed and your advice on how to take it further to make it our own is inspiring! Thanks!
Great exercise. I'm gonna incorporate it in my double stroke routine practice.
Cool! Thanks for watching
Excellent video sir, take a bow 👍
Thank you good sir! 👊🏼
Même dans une langue étrangère l'explication est très claire . Bravo !!!!!!!
I was waiting for him to do "We will rock you" :)
I dont know whats better. The sound, the lesson or Erics amazing moustache.
🤣👊🏼🙏🏼
Most important part of this lesson... Killer mustache bro. Solid work lol
Hey man!!!!!!! I have to be totally honest this is the best drum set exercise I have ever seen and that’s the truth! I have been looking for a video like this for years and finally a lesson that’s like a key 🔑 opening my creative mind and I am truly thankful for you sharing this! I plan to practice this every time I touch my kit for the next year! I cannot express to you how thankful I am for you posting this lesson!👊🏾🥁🤩👍🏾🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Wow, these are the kind of comments that make it all worth it man. I really appreciate that. This lesson seemed to hit the nail on the head for many. That’s a perfect plan, practice it every practice session and I know you’ll see huge gains. Thanks again bro 👊🏼✌🏼
well.... show must go on, Freddie
Loved this! I’m going to get to work on this as one of my 3 month EPM Goals (Benny Greb’s Effective Practicing For Musicians book 📚) 🙏🏻 thank you for sharing!
That’s great man! Thanks
Excellent teaching. Clear aim and goals. Concise contents; sticking, orquestation. As a I stated., Excellent and great teaching
Thank you, I appreciate that 🙏🏼👊🏼✌🏼
How cool is THAT!!! Feels like that moments (that most drummers think)..."if i can play that I'm the best drummer in the world"
This is just the lesson I was looking for. It’s a great workout for my hands and it inspires me to play cool drumfills. I play quarternotes with my left foot, which is also a great excercise, especially when I play the six stroke patterns. Thank you, Eric 👍😊
That’s great to hear man! Thank you 🙏🏼
You did that
One of the best lessons on chopping, specially starting every chop with left…
Even on the down beats?
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Marty dude 🤣
Love your mustache, bro! :)
Thank you Freddie Mercury
🤣 oh man didn’t see that one coming
Great lesson man; I’ll be working on this! I’m going to want to play those 6 note groupings as sextuplets; I always do…
Awesome man! 👍🏼🙏🏼
Optimus Prime wanted to thank the Drummer that taught me better coordination. 🤟😂 thank you my friend for posting.
Subsribe button been pushed till the phone get some hole on screen. Awesome🔥
Thank you man 🙏🏼✌🏼
First thing I thought when saw the recommendation, " omg Freddie on drums ?
Do we have to grow a stache for that fill?
Bro sick lesson! Also is that a D-Vice attacked to the 604 ?? Thats awesome
Thanks man! Not sure what you are referring to on that, the 604’s are not connected to anything other than the tom mounts.
@@Fisherdrumming My apologies. I thought that the e604 was somehow attached to a Audix D-vice tom mount. Your tones are on point too!
Well, I already knew those patterns. I also like to add 32th notes with a double kick. Instead of R (L) (L) K... It is R (L) (L) KK,R (L) (L) KK, etc. I think I saw Weckl doing it in the song "Big B little b" or another song, I'm not sure where exactly I did "steal" that idea. Not quintuplets, but 3x1/16th and 2x32th.
Good lesson, powerful mustache
You‘r Tom sound is great! I can’t see any dampening. How do you do that? Sorry for my English. Great Video! Greatings from Rendsburg, Germany!
Thank you! So cool to have people from different countries tune in.
You’re right, I don’t use dampening unless I need to. If it’s tuned right it won’t have bad overtones. So I focus more on the tuning, and then the mix is very important. The rest it proper EQ that makes a big difference
Black beauty plus gretsch USA, dream combination
Good eye my friend! You know your gear!
How did you mix the snare drum? Sounds awesome
Thanks! Would be too complicated to try and explain, but maybe I’ll do a future series on mixing drums
Can you tell us how to count these to the metronome? When you're playing Rlrllk I can't understand the count against the metronome
Only thing cleaner than this quality video is this man's stache
Jesus and those cymbals just heard them
🤣🙏🏼 thanks dude
Man that 10 sounds fkn beautiful
Man you rock with moustache
I'm sorry but you are a fucking amazing teacher.
🙏🏼🤘🏼👊🏼
Thanks, Shia... I mean, Eric!
Fredy Mercury in drums👏
👨🏻😆
And here I sat thinking "Wow, never knew Freddie Mercury could play drums that great!" ;-)
😆👨🏻🤘🏼
Nice dakka dakka doom doom. Sweet editing 👌. Getting more of your personality too. Cheers Eric 🍻.
😁 Thank you man! ✌🏼👊🏼
How would you work the pattern with 1 rack Tom??
Only play the pattern 6 times each hand instead of 8 times 👍🏼
Fun
Came for the drum lesson, stayed for the moustache.
🤣👊🏼
🤯🥳
