Any combo of RLLK and RLRLLK in 32nd notes where the doubles are ghosted on the snare and the accents are orchestrated around the kit. The first left stroke in the second pattern can also be ghosted to add a bit more spice. Creating unique combos of these patterns can sound great where the accent is moved from the downbeat to the offbeat and back again. Mike Johnston has a video on this with a specific pattern but I've loved getting creative with it and exploring options.
Putting the pattern in the thumbnail makes me even more likely to watch the video, because now that I know how _perfect_ it *looks,* I want to hear it in action. Your use of similes in regards to language and music was also helpful. Thanks for breaking down the pattern so clearly, as always, and showing different applications for it!
Literally the perfect pattern. It can be applied to absolutely everything and almost everytime it will seem like a different variation. Most amazing and valuable drumming tutorial available on UA-cam by far.
Hey man, just wanted to say I appreciate how clearly you explain the concepts in this video. You're super well spoken and it makes it incredibly easy to follow. A big breath of fresh air after watching so many tutorials of people jump editing between every 3 words they say and still taking forever to for them to get to the point.
As someone who writes music with keyboard and computer and not a drummer, this still helps a lot with ideas and trying to keep things believable when having to do something more "acoustic" and not synth. This is very cool!
Thank you for your contribution to the world. You’re one charismatic dude. I was hooked from the beginning and blown away by your teaching ability and the ease of information here.
Hi Orlando…Really enjoy your lesson videos. I’m almost 70 this coming December and just wanted to say that all patterns and grooves are all useful depending on how they are used…To me they are just more tools for the toolbox at one’s disposal. Keep up the great work sir. Regards, Shawn W. 👍👍👍😁
I need you to know I am 52. Played drums from 15 to 25 and never cared about technique or reading. It was about playing loud and stoned. Then at 25 I just stopped playing. Then at 45 I played at a friends request and fell in love with drums in a way I never had before. I played everyday from 45 to 49. Some days 4-5 hrs. Then hit a devastating divorce (had nothing to do with drums) and couldn’t play for at least a year and a half. Then life changed and I was playing again everyday. I have always wanted lessons but don’t resonate via online. So I forged forward with this insane desire to play and get better. Anyway for a long time I felt like I needed more and I stumbled on this and it opened up a whole new world. THANK YOU for helping me turn another new page!
I don't agree that a word cannot be superior to others. "Love" surely is. And there are some other words, but I took this as an example, because one falls in love with this pattern you showed. While the pattern itself may not be perfect, this lesson about it really is. Therefore I subscribed. Thank you.
Your comparison of rhythmic language to English and being able to use words/phrases in different contexts and situations is spot on. Love that comparison!
When I read the Title, I had to click to see how you could possibly believe such a thing could even exist. Obviously there is no such thing. What a great way to get me to click and watch, and learn.
Adam I played drums for over 20 years, did my first album on a major label in 1974...that being said, you are as good with words as you are with drums! Bravo brother...
Dude... and some other 2000s sick word sounds... =) fantastic post! thanks! My Son and multiple friends are eating this up! thanks for your military/veteran support. Diddle on!
I can certainly appreciate this video (in addition to all of your content). Appreciate your honesty, simplicity, context, and the overall usefulness of the patterns you show. Awesomeness.
OK, I just recently set my drums after maybe 20 years of not playing. I was never a great drummer. Started playing this pattern. After getting the pattern down started to modify it a little and moving around the drums. I can’t believe how fast and good I am sounding. Still have a long way to go. Thank you for this!!!
Thank you, I dont play reading sheet music, but understand what it means? But I get drums by my inner feel and you explained the way that I play drums and understood exactly what you meant! It was very helpful to find a way to group of phrase my drum segments or measures. Thank you very much!
I love learning from other drummers and musicians in general. Agree with the points you made especially about practicing patterns only to find out they dont fit. Great explanation of everything. Will be working on this for a while.
Solid case in explanation, and I like how you highlighted inverting the groove. That is always my go-to when double-checking if I'm exploring all permutations of a groove I'm digging for a specific application.
I know it's a bit late on the contest thing and I'm not a subscriber, but my perfect pattern to me at the moment would be the 6 stroke roll with a substitution of KK for my LL. Actually I like equally, paradiddle with kick and hi-hat substituted between LrLL and rLrr and I alternate kick/hi-hat and use toms in both the paradiddle and 6 stroke roll.
Such clarity! I immediately liked and subscribed after listening through the first couple of minutes! I can practice both my drumming and my English skills with your videos, thank you!

Steve Gadd's 50 ways to leave your lover
I will say your pattern, seriously.
The perfect pattern is the pattern that acdc used in almost all their songs, it keeps time perfectly and is easy

Paradiddles all day baby
That is the best sounding snare ever. EVER.
I wish I knew what the model is. 😢
I think SONOR
@@frankkalejo8809 nah, there's a video ware he talks about a signature snare he made with some independent company, I think it's that one.
The lesson hasn't even started yet and you deserve a like just for the introduction. Beautifully written.
Andre Carvalho this.
Bollocks is definitely a superior word in the English language
So is hearing a brit calling someone "You muppet"!
I'm a big fan of yall calling arugula "rocket"
"Crotchet", "quaver" and "semiquaver". Those are good words...
well that's a load of bollocks
Clunge is a classic

You can use the pattern in feel special by twice 😝
@@josebalosa8421 omg I just saw this comment and I need to try this. thank you
Best you tube teacher yet

This is the most well articulated video lesson I have ever witnessed. Outstanding drummer and communicator.
I think so, too. This is why I subscribed almost immediately.

Your playing is so articulate and accurate - I could listen to you play all day!
Not to mention your entire kit sound and continuity is beautiful...
excellent lesson. Thank you very much. Very generous of you to teach a higher way of thinking about what it is "to drum".
I am from Indonesia ... thank you for your learning...👍👍👍🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for your contribution to the world. You’re one charismatic dude. I was hooked from the beginning and blown away by your teaching ability and the ease of information here.
Adam you are just getting better
Orlando, so many can play awesome, but to many can teach as clearly and well as you do.
Love how crisp and smooth his push/pull technique is
Incredibly performed and verbally executed......WOW , good for you .....You are good at playing and teaching sir.

Anything you do is perfect
this video was incredibly helpful for me. Your use of language and metaphor really resonates with me.
I'm stuck in the 90's...I still say dude. Love your vids, dude.

Gracias por todos tus aportes, tus videos son brillantes, tu eres brillante!!!
The English word metaphor is a great way to explain grooves and fills.
Great pacing on the video as well.

Thank You, Adam. Great idea. Thank You for Your clear and understandable way to talk. I am not missing a single word. Many greetings from Germany.
I highly appreciate the manner in which you approached this topic. A healthy mix of drumming philosophy and practical applications. Kudos!
so much clarity
What can I take away from this?
Something I watch several times a day.
Thanks dude
Amazing break
That snare sounds great.
I love your approach and teaching style Adam! The way you explain your groove to compare it with words in language. Perfect! Thank you
Great great lesson. Thank you.
A true professional.... very well taught. Thank you sir

My God your kit sounds godly
I love that drum set
You are simply incredible. You are a true aficionado in drumming and presentation.
The relation of drum phrases to the use of the English language was a nice touch!
I love all of them!!!! They make u sound so professional....... i need these for myself
6 stroke roll and para diddle diddle are also some very fun and versatile patterns
Adam I played drums for over 20 years, did my first album on a major label in 1974...that being said, you are as good with words as you are with drums! Bravo brother...
Very cool Adam! The application is endless with this. Not to mention starting the idea on the e , + , or a. Thanks!
This dude has beautiful hands he’s gonna grow old with absolutely no arthritis issues, kudos
lol
You are very knowledgeable and articulate 😊😊😊
It would be sick if you made a podcast! I can’t really always watch ur videos, but I can listen to a podcast all day
Max Alvarez 2020 😉
Sick! Many blessings and thank u for helping me be a better drummer 🙏🏽
Exactly bro! You are a natural teacher. Keep them coming.
Awesome one, i use this for my students too ✔☺
The 6tuplet RLRllK is super modular. Even slight dynamic changes make the rudiment sound completely different.
It's funny because I heard that in this pattern he presented.. I myself use this pattern you mentioned all the time in 16th note form or triplet form
Dude... and some other 2000s sick word sounds... =)
fantastic post! thanks! My Son and multiple friends are eating this up! thanks for your military/veteran support. Diddle on!
WOW FREAKING AMAZING! Thank you so much. Great teacher.
This is probably the highest quality drum video I’ve ever seen on YT (video wise) plus it’s a amazing pattern! Win win!!

I like ur take on the analogies btw music and speech.

That intro, with your speech aswell was very well done. Caught my attention immediately.
An insightful and educational type of rick-roll
your toms sound so good
Ok that snare drum is an absolute work of art

Great video very helpful .....thanks!!!!

Kinda makes me wish I still played set - and that doesn't happen very often - my hat is off to you sir :D
What’s that in my ears........ my brain! Leaking out. Love it brother!!
Your setup is so homey; It takes me wayyy back.
Four years later I find this.. Thank you very much! You definitely earned my subscription four years ago! 😊

TRUTH Adam ☝🏼 The “best” color is the color you like the most.
Nice word anology and a very philosophical analysis of drum pattern description. Cool playing too
Real nice tone. Awesome chops.
Great sound :)
Wow the Best Drummer

Plus, you can add or take away any of the accents. That, or keep the groupings the same, but change the sticking.
At 100bpm it grooves like samba, brilliant!

I love how well spoken you are
The opening monologue was legendary!
Adam's technique is so satisfying to watch. Just a fresh and inspiring video to watch. 🔥
