Yes please!!!!!! I bought a kit 20 years ago and played for about a year and I was never really that good because my drums were too loud to practice at home so I only got to practice at band rehearsal. And that was really just playing songs rather than going over and over things like complex fills. Fast forward 20 years and I now own an Alesis Nitro Mesh kit which I bought about a week ago, and the combination of UA-cam tutorials and being able to practice as long as I like without annoying anyone has resulted in me being back up to speed already. I've never incorporated the kick drum with fills before so I was keen to learn that last fill. Using the kick drum in the fill felt totally alien to me so consistency was all over the place at first but after half hour last night I had it at 60bpm. And tonight I managed to play along to you at 100bpm and it's starting to feel quite natural. So yeah, keep up the beginner lessons please :-)
I recently started playing so I'm constantly watching videos and normally I feel totally lost. I'll definitely be watching more of yours, I'm still confused but I feel like watching yours that I'll get it!
I'm a returning drummer after 3 decades away and I follow a few drum channels here and wasn't planning to follow more (Or I spend too much time on YT & not the drums!), but I instantly recognised what a good teacher you are so I sub'd. I'm kind of at that picking-it-back-up level and discovering my skills were just dormant, not gone forever, so this B to I level is helping me get confidence and practice the skills I need for my small home studio. Awesome!! Thanks Eric! :)
Thank you so much! I hope you continue to get a lot out of the lessons. Make sure you check out my free kickstarter course as well: moderndrumacademy.com/free-webinar/
Eric!!! I met you at Grey and Cash the other day! You came into my shop and I couldn't put my finger on it until I saw this video!! Even tho it was brief you were still a pretty cool dude! I hope you liked your drinks and food!
Haha I remember man! I asked where you got your traditional tattoos! Dude that’s my spot btw, love the coffee and food. Im sure I’ll see you again there. Good to meet other drummers in the area. ✌🏼👊🏼
Excellent video. Thanks for playing everything slow multiple times. Makes it easy to undrstand and learn. Have been watching your videos lately. Thanks very much
As a guitar player I've always got behind the drums when possible. Finally bought a kit. These patterns are perfect for me. Sound good and are variable. Thanks!
UA-cam’s algorithm with connection “fills” brought me to your video so now I’ve subscribed as your teaching is so clear for relatively new beginners like me. I’m going to check out your free masterclass and see whether I can follow it. Thanks a lot!
Greetings from Australia Eric. I’m a subscriber (paid) and just wanted to thank you for the way you deliver your lessons. It must require a huge amount of patience for a drummer as experienced as you to play at 60BPM but believe me you’ve changed the way I drum for the better! Love your work man 👍
Hi David, I recognize your last name, it’s unique over here where I’m from in the US, so I remember seeing when you signed up for the Total Drumming Program! That’s a huge compliment, and I truly appreciate that. Thank you for enrolling in the lessons and taking time to leave a comment man 🙏🏼👍🏼✌🏼
Ive been eyeing that dual crash for almost 2 years. You think it would work in a loud live rock setting? I just love the sound of it but not sure if it'll cut through.
Really great lesson Eric, thank you. Im trying desperately to copy and learn your groove that goes with this but I’m struggling. Any chance you could share the notation or talk it through please. Many thanks Phill.
There must be some sort of problem with the Webinar, I booked in to view it, clicked on the link from the email that was sent to me and an error message comes up saying my IP address is Blocked. I tried re-starting my pc and trying again, same thing happened. Nevermind.
Just say with the vitamin is I don't want to watch a video I'm too busy you're just trying to make sales no matter what people have to go through just get on with it.

While you are waiting for more beginner content here, Beatdown Brown has helped me progress really fast, and I have been called rhythm impaired.

Great vid as always! Biggest skill on show is the way you navigate that big ole snare mic, I'd smash that for sure!

Appreciate ya brother.
Ive been eyeing that dual crash for almost 2 years. You think it would work in a loud live rock setting? I just love the sound of it but not sure if it'll cut through.
Yes you should, it’s an amazing crash. It still has a lot of volume, just lower frequencies that a bright cymbal.
Great video! Easy to understand as a beginner. Are these beats played in 4/4?
Nice, The one drum lesson beat sounds like the motown beat!
I’m wondering if I can borrow some of these fills
Thank you teacher! I appreciate 🙏💚
Keep at it bro you’ll get there… paying ur dues and long nights playing will get your chops on that level..☺️👍🏻
what number stick are you using
Really great lesson Eric, thank you. Im trying desperately to copy and learn your groove that goes with this but I’m struggling. Any chance you could share the notation or talk it through please. Many thanks Phill.
The groove with this might be in his free masterclass? If it is on another video can you provide the link plz? I really like the groove also.
Tq Eric, Jbu
Nice,, good. 👍👍
I have a question on the first fill why use right hand hi hat and right hand as first note on the snare?
it's easier to play this phrase like R-RL, imagine playing all these notes on the snare
Evo’s are perfect exterior
In this first film, why not R hihat - L snare - R snare - L snare - R floortom? Instead of R hh - R sd - L sd - R sd - R ft?
Thank you beginner here
This is a wonderful lesson but the thing is that I don't understand the rudiments, I only know how to play them by ear

not the same without mustaches!
Well if you don't teach beginners to Play the drums maybe we should watch other channels that do and learn from them that help beginners Ty
I guess I’ve improved. Since beginner stuff seems super boring now.
Lol well that’s a good thing!
