@@thieunamphong7005 it worked pretty well with the main camera that came on the drone, but it doesn't work when I try using a second camera I have. Not sure why. But it's nice to be able to see clearly without the glare of daylight making it hard to see a phone or tablet screen.
You are totally right, there is going to be a game changer in the video googles... the hobby is growing so much but the fatshark were there before the boom but didn't change their marketing plans since then. I will stick with my monitor for now :P
Hey Stu Love your channel, I'm a newbie. Your entrance is a classic. But you topped it today with the "Fathark" in your upload description. I've learnt heaps, thanks! Garszy
you may not use a headtracker but they're still relevant, especially for fpv gliders ect.. quad racing is basically the only type of fpv which doesn't benefit from headtracking
I've got a set of Dom V3 and live them. My understanding of the dvr is that it recorded the raw signal from the receiver without the goggles contrast and brightness settings, that's why the dvr footage looks different. But I haven't had that interference in the dvr like yours.
I'm disappointed you didn't use a 16:9 camera Stu to really show off these new goggles. Perhaps the next Fatshark "limited edition" could be a Droners FPV they'd be real popular and we could get diversity instead of the head tracker. Keep up the good fight, loving your videos. Mark Harper.
iv learnt to fly with these goggles but using a 4.3 camera, not sure if it's compressing the image or stretching it but it seems fine, building my second quad with a 16:9 cam so it'll be interesting to see the difference
I noticed a couple of times while you are filming there is a melody from your LIPO charger singing in the background lol About the DVR, they are using mjpeg compression, that's why it's not that great!
Once you long press to power up the dvr, if you long press again that opens the dvr menu which will attempt to overlay the image if you have the module switched on and look like really bad interference. Thought I bust mine when I did that the first time!
Mate, have you tried any of the other goggles in the similar price range? I'm at the point of purchasing goggles but I'm stuck as to which one to pull the trigger on. I've narrowed the field to the Dom V3s or the Skyzone SKY02S. As I see it the goggles are very similar for viewing but the skyzones come with receivers at the cost of modularity. But they come with all the inputs to make life easy in the future.
Hi. Would you say this is still a good google? I havent even started this hobby yet and trying to to find a good thing to start with. With that said, i rather pay alittle to get something that i dont need/want to replace in a few month. Just to show my n00bfactor... do I NEED to buy recivers if with these, or is there some builtin standars... and its an option to put in better? Thanks for all the great rewiews!
OK that sounds good i have some Problem es with my old Predator V2 because shooting little Gates is very hard with them because i only See them when i'm close to them
I like my Dom. V3's however, having to spend an additional $100+ to get decent signal is messed up. Will end up around $600 after getting another better(diversity) receiver. Cost adds up quick and the DVR does suck or have less resolution than the goggle view.
That is what I was going to comment on. The quality of the plastic and foam looks very poor. And the drop-outs for recording is hardly acceptable. I haven't had the opportunity to see though any goggles, but I think looking at that I'd be more likely to look at the other, large styrofoam headsets.
I found my dominator v3 on Ebay and payed $290.So looking around before buying helps.Mine are new but the package was open so thats why i got them so cheap.
Have you tried the Skyzone v2 3d goggles? Including you, none of my favorite you tubers have reviewed them. There seems to be a lot of prejudice against non-Fatshark goggles, but they are great. Every piece of it is higher quality than the fatsharks including resolution, dvr quality, and diversity standard. There is no fan but I have never fogged up, and you could swap the single piece eye cup for a fatshark v2 upgrade face plate and fan if you like. Oh ya, and they are now way cheaper, especially considering the fats don't come with a module. :-)
I dont mean to be offtopic but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me!
@Deandre Dario Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
This is a s guess but I'm a computer scientist by training so I guess you could say it's an educated guess. The reason the colours in the DVR look so poor is almost certainly CPU processing power. Digital video and photos that you see from most cameras are processed by the camera that applies a colour correction curve or "profile" to them. I would guess that in this case the Fat Sharks have got the power to do that for the actual goggle screens, but not the DVR. Why not use the same video for both? Again I'm guessing but I'd say the different resolutions. And more CPU power would take more battery, generate more heat and be more expensive. Not saying they shouldn't go there or look for alternatives, but the industry is really young and although it's growing it's not huge and probably can't afford as much R&D as they'd like to spend, so they need to spend it where it gives the biggest impact - i.e. on the primary function.
I like the fatshark heaps but I never realised how sweet skyzone v2 are. diversity out the box and I can power it with 2-4 s lipo and yeh I use the head tracker on my rc boat.
Hey I am from Australia great video. I was just wondering since u have so. Many quads do u like still fly them all still or do u just leave them hanging up
some of them just hang, some I give away, and some i reuse or recycle. I cant fly all of them but they do help make the background look interesting. Funny thing is I think this happens to lots of people in this hobby. I knnow a lot of my friends who have MORE rc stuff then me ahha and they dont have a channel or anything. This stuff just accumulates lol
I see by the hole on the side you have it set up for a La Forge unit? I guess I still one of the freaks out there still using SkyZones haha, I just guess I like my diversity built in. Everyone always counters with " Yeah, well mine have a built in DVR and HDMI". I guess I"m glad I waited for the new SkyZones then haha. They have almost everything the FatSharks do, with built in diversity, minus the fan. If you really need the fan, you can put the face plate from the FatSharks on them, like I did with my SkyZone V 1's my "FoxSharks", or "SkySharks" haha! Oh, and they are 16:9 too.
i haven't got goggles yet but the DVR colors might seem a little bland if you are stretching it out over a large screen of a computer. still no excuse for the noise and dropout though.
Hi Stew, do you have an opinion on Quanum Cyclops? It has a ratio of 5:3=1.66 (close to 16:9=1.77) -- almost 10x cheaper ($50)... Or perhaps compare it with KDS Kylin (similar concept) ?
Do you have a recommended diversity Rx for these goggles? I spoiled myself early with the FR632 on my first set of DIY goggles, and I'm missing that quality experience after upgrading to the Dom V3.
Yeah, DVR is not too great. Saw another review on YT and the older Dom. v2 have better DVR quality than the V3's. How or why would the quality be less over an older model....? If not for the 16:9 ratio, I would totally regret not getting HD2's. Now I need a 16:9 camera. Thanks for the review
I just got me a pair of the Dominator SE and I'm having issues with being able to see the entire image with both eyes properly. maybe the images too big for my eyes to see through the goggles because it will appear blurry on the far-left and far-right . I thought about returning them and getting the Dominator V3. but I don't know what to do the only other thing I own were there quanum cyclops which were pretty badass. is the image size in the Dominator v3's that much smaller in reality?
I just got these goggles today and I want to know if the on and off switch at 6:22 for the receiver you put in the goggles or is it for something else? Thankyou
hello Stewart I'm looking into getting the attitude V3 mainly because of the price but I would like to record my footage. ln your opinion would the Dominator V3 be a better choice?
Im just a little bit concern about the charging, some fatshark batteries charges on a different way, meaning, some on balance charge and others on normal charge, is that true?
If you use the factory charger it can charge off balance (same is true for all lipo). Once you get a balance charger which any hobbies should have will resolve balance charging issue.
my birthday is coming up and i am considering buying these currently i am flying the teleporter v3s.... its like an empty movie theater.. are these anything like that?
if someone like myself wanted to upgrade from teleporter v5'S what goggles would be good for overall use, ie enjoyment of flight, racing and making freestyle videos?
I can get my hands on these lightly used (near new) for $200 ...are theses still relevant now Sept. 2019. I have been flying with box goggles (ev 800d). These will be my first pair of fatshark.
i have them and i noticed if i watch the playback threw the fatsharks or plug the fatsharks up to the tv so others can watch the video doesn't look as good as it was when i was flying...if i take it off the SD card and watch it on my laptop it looks good...the video so show is worst then mine, did you have a overcast or something?
can I have the FPV goggles and a phone or tablet hooked up to view at the same and if so, how?? I know the optional adapter on the back of the phantom4 will accept both but how do i set the dji go app the watch both at the same time if I can do that?
I loved the 4:3 ratio, but after I wrecked my Dominator v2 goggles, I now have to deal with this %^&*. Now the $350 dollar dominators are 16:9 and it is truly a disappointment to me, since much of my gear is already in 4:3. Luckly a new version of Dominators is coming out. It is labeled "Altitude v4s", but it is really just a dom v3 with 4:3 instead, and it is in my price range, so that is good. UAVfutures still waiting for 2018
2018 is here. Are Dominator V3 is still the best?
Hey Stu
Love your channel, I'm a newbie. Your entrance is a classic. But you topped it today with the "Fathark" in your upload description.

Hey man, you have a little typo in the title. Good video none the less!
thanks for the heads up
Congratulations for your long awaited upgrade 😂
thanks
Head tracking is very useful when flying fixed wing, a very important factor for me

im still loving my 16:9 skyzones. never had any issues with them and still going strong :P
Thanks for the info. just got a pair of these and gonna set up. So thats what the buttons do and where the SD card goes.
Yeah the box is a bit dirty never mind... shit never mind the hole on the goggles for the video cable lol

got my Dom V3 last week, sort of underwhelmed but better then what I had. Annoying the DVR footage will not load directly into blackbox also!
Review the Dominator SE that just released! I love my Dom V2s but have not updated to the V3 because of the ratio!

ill have a video about this very topic in the next 2 - 3 weeks
I see a vifly r220 on the wall. Did you do a review? If so what is the link?

the image of the v3s does feel smaller. but more focused
Your brain buffers a lot of the static while you are in the moment flying. It puzzled me for years with HD cine cam rigs for GH4's
I just got these goggles today and I want to know if the on and off switch at 6:22 for the receiver you put in the goggles or is it for something else? Thankyou
thats for the rx module
Ok thankyou
will you be doing a review on the new fatshark SE?
if i can track some down, A lot of money to drop just for another review though
Hi. I noticed some of the videos showing the dominator V3
the fan some have a different cover is this because of the age of the unit?.
i believe so.
would love a fathark
lol, yeah
hello Stewart I'm looking into getting the attitude V3 mainly because of the price but I would like to record my footage. ln your opinion would the Dominator V3 be a better choice?
yeah i like my hd3s

the attitudes v3s are a good alrounder
I can get my hands on these lightly used (near new) for $200 ...are theses still relevant now Sept. 2019.
I have been flying with box goggles (ev 800d). These will be my first pair of fatshark.
@Vladimir Putin
I went DJI.... Yeah man👍
gud DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy n toDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!
i have them and i noticed if i watch the playback threw the fatsharks or plug the fatsharks up to the tv so others can watch the video doesn't look as good as it was when i was flying...if i take it off the SD card and watch it on my laptop it looks good...the video so show is worst then mine, did you have a overcast or something?
it was a cloudy day but it didnt look that drab
can I have the FPV goggles and a phone or tablet hooked up to view at the same and if so, how?? I know the optional adapter on the back of the phantom4 will accept both but how do i set the dji go app the watch both at the same time if I can do that?
I dont know sorrry
Dont balancecharge fatshark batteries. They got built in balancesystem so you just charge them.
Can you do a video on your diversity receiver??
yep, will do
HD v2 is 4:3 ratio v3 is 16:9 ratio I think is the difference.
i think the head tracker is for cosplayers who need to be able to turn their head and still have the ability to see while in massive costumes
connecting to laptop through HDMI, could you watch movies on laptop?
yes
but it's only 720p setting
let's put a VHS instead of your SD card to record FPV live feed ;)
Just to say : quality is lost while converting from analog to digital video.
yeah but my other dvrs are much much better
Every time your charger goes off, I think my batteries are done. :D
ahah happens to me when im editing my own videos too
I loved the 4:3 ratio, but after I wrecked my Dominator v2 goggles, I now have to deal with this %^&*. At least I am not forced to buy a pair HD dominator goggles to get the DVR.
Do the Att. V4's have the glass optics ?
What DVR do you use/recommend ?
skyzone rc700d screen
Oi! Try running a high speed sd card😋 i think that's what my homie did to get better dvr recording off dominator. Cheers mate! Also I was told runcam owl plus runs good with these. Cheers mate
It's really annoying that you have a pointer stick and you only use it 15% of the time and the other 85% your just waving it around. I keep focusing on the stick. lol
What module are u using there?
got a few im testing out, will have some videos on them soon
never hear of 14:3 aspect ratio before :P
lol
800x480 is 15:9, not 16:9. For 16:9 you need those 854x480 Skyzone goggles. Or do the V3's optics render the pixels slightly wider than tall?
RIP Jc aka blue falcon project we will all miss him may he be flying his drone noe with his own fc
could you recommend a good dvr?
skyzone rc700d is what I use mainly for dvr
You should have waited for the new fat shark se
They have a better dvr
If u r looking for cheaper FS buy the new FS SE
ACTUALLY !!!!!!!!! ;-)
yeah sorry
No need for sorry my fellow aus goof, we all seem to have this problem.;-) mwahahaha
your late lol the thick one sucks lets in light im on my second one now. those must be v3.5 mine are different
late?
Yea on the Doms one year later Heyy UAV :) I wish my fan had that cover though couldn't tell you how many times ive grabbed the fan lol
Have you realized how many times you've said "actually"? lol.
lol how many haha?
a least 20 lol
silvereagile2061 ahah crazy
Let me win the p200!!! :D
lol its random comment sorry mate
TodayToday 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
omg , Steew ! crazy ugly hole in that cover ! :D
yeah, bring on the 3d print
never tried thoses ! but recently flew with the big quanum screen.. It was impressive... how do you like it compare to the dominators ? I fly with the shitty horizon fatshark v2 series ...
Change this not fathark but fatshark
thanks ahah
in 2018 these Dom V3's cost $100 NICE!!!
jk... they are $300
It's 2023 and I just got a pair for £100 . . Nice lol 😂
