Good unexpected video, oddly nostalgic. I still remember that song, and the cartoon vaguely. It always came on after what I was watching (tiny tunes I believe) Just like the song to Tale-Spin lol. I swear I remember another duck cartoon replacing DW Duck. *Idk if you have or not, but maybe an episode on The Tick?
One of my favorite aspects of Darkwing Duck is that he was neither too competent (Like Batman) or too incompetent (Like Inspector Gadget). He was often outclassed by the bad guys and begrudgingly needed help from others, but he mostly knew how to do his thing, and for most issues he can do it alone.
I remember when my school had coloring pictures of darkwing duck during free time. Still watch cartoons from my childhood. And darkwing duck is one of my favorites.
It's great that Darkwing Duck still gets attention it deserves. I'm in my forties and still enjoy the show. I collected the toys back in the day also. Long live Darkwing Duck.
He visited my town once, but I didn't get a chance to see him. I did, however, go to a similar fan event at the same location and got to meet Felix Silla (Cousin Itt on "The Addams Family"), Doug Jones (THE SHAPE OF WATER) and Sid Haig (THE DEVIL'S REJECTS). I literally grew up with Jim Cummings. One of the very first TV shows I remember watching was "Dumbo's Circus" on the Disney Channel. Cummings voiced Lionel, the Brooklyn-accented carnival barker. I think that was his first major role for Disney.
Darkwing Duck, Rescue Rangers, Ducktales, TMNT, Gummi Bears, Tiny Toons (especially when they have those death races), Batman: The Animated Series, Spiderman, Transformers, Captain Planet. Man those were the days. They don't make them like they used to. Now it's all grooming brainwashing nonsense.
An absolute classic of a show. I loved Darkwing! Theme song is a banger! Remember when TGIF premiered it on primetime FRIDAY?! Good times. I loved the Fearsome Five...my fave episode is when they get the gem and NegaDuck has all their powers. Games were great too (except maybe that TG16 one).
Oh hellz yeah! I remember Darkwing Duck!! All of us '90s kids do! Loved everything about the series, especially the new jack swing style theme song! Also loved the NES game. Man that brings back memories! I'm proud to hear that they are trying to reboot it. That's a reboot i would actually support. That & an ALF reboot. Also, that kick ass theme song to Denver the Last Dinosaur, lived rent free, in my head, for decades, & i did love the series.
You say Darkwing Duck went into syndication in Soviet Union, but the Soviet Union colapsed in the first year it came out and the Cold War was already over.
i used to watch it in Russia in the 90s. The translations were even better than the original! And not just for DW but for all the cartoons we've got - DT, CnD, GB, Tailspin, and so on. They would air it every sunday in the morning. Kids loved it! I surely did.
Darkwing Duck is my favorite 90s animated cartoon(I’ve been binge watching it recently, I fell asleep watching Darkwing Duck last night & I wake up today & this Video popped up into my recommendations) being a 90s kid was definitely a special time for me during my childhood. _The Shadow_ is still a favorite of mine, I remember my cousin _Markus_ having all of _The Shadow_ toys & when he & I teamed up with our own separate collection of toys for a war of the cartoon worlds was so memorable. _Nega Duck_ is my favorite Darkwing Duck Villain, _Steelbeak_ is a strong 2nd. My Uncle, _Demetrius Harvey_ (rest in peace) sung the Darkwing Duck theme song.
I remember the Disney afternoon commercials that would come on during DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, etc Darkwing was in the background even though we had no idea who he was. When we finally saw his show... It was worth it!
Darkwing Duck was an awesome series, I have them all recorded on VHS which are probably crap now. I would love if they did a reboot like Ducktales which was surprisingly well done.
I’m confused what you mean by “it came out at the height of the Cold War”…you mean the very end of the Cold War? It came out when the Russian “leader” stepped down at the end of 1991 and this show came out at the end of 1991 lol…you sound like you’re my age and grew up with the U.S.S.R. on the world map in the first half of elementary school. So it just seems odd wording this show as being at the height of the Cold War haha.
I always thought he looked like Golden Age Sandman because Darkwing uses a gas gun from time to time like Dodds does and Darkwing's bill stick sout like Sandman's gas mask
Daring duck of mystery, champion of right, Swoops out of the shadows, Darkwing owns the night. Somewhere some villain schemes, but his number's up. (3-2-1) Darkwing Duck! (When there's trouble, you call DW) Darkwing Duck! (Let's get dangerous) Darkwing Duck (Darkwing, Darkwing Duck)! Cloud of Smoke and he appears, master of surprise, Who's the cunning mind behind the shadowy disguise? Nobody knows for sure, but bad guys are out of luck. 'Cause here comes (Darkwing Duck), Look out! (When there's trouble, you call DW). Darkwing Duck! (Lets get dangerous) Darkwing Duck! (Better watch out, you bad boys) Darkwing Duck!
Seeing the dark wing duck episode must have inspired the writers of Superman TAS to make the brave new metropolis episode where Superman allies with Lex Luthor and becomes a tyrant. He goes evil after Lois is killed in his universe.
Dark Warrior Duck episode must have inspired a writer on Superman Animated series. The episode Brave New Metropolis has Lois go to Alternate dimension and where she died and Superman joined Luthor and became an enforcer and was very stick like Dark Warrior.
Darkwing Duck is on Disney Plus. They put a disclaimer warning on the show.Because Warner Bros did the same we can't have any sort of humor in classic cartoons oh no it so wrong to crack jokes on animal characters that aren't human beings. This why I absolute dislike the woke culture has destroyed classic cartoons because they can't handle humor.
Darkwing Duck is Batman 2.0 his secret identity is Drake Mallard like Bruce Wayne's Batman his town is St.Canard Disney's version of Gotham City his sidekick Ducktales character Launchpad McQuack his Robin as they take on variety of supervillains this show has a comic twist Darkwing is a cross between Don Adams Characters Maxwell Smart and Inspector Gadget he has no powers but gets the upper hand on them or he has help from Gosalyn and Launchpad before Darkwing Duck their another superhero Courageous Cat he was like both Batman and Darkwing Duck and Minute Mouse was his Robin.
Fun facts about Darkwing Duck Negaduck is originally from the negaverse like that one episode of the KND and the bakery sugar spice and everything nice like the powerpuff theme & Dr. sera Bellum same name from the mayor of Townsville assistant name Miss.Sera Bellum
I've always been a huge fan of Dee Dubbya! I used to always change my mind on the question of who is my favorite super hero. Until some years ago I realized Darkwing Duck is my favorite, and probably always will be. LET'S GET DANGEROUS
Yeah, I'll have to be a stickler, but since the Soviet Union collapsed at the end of 1991, and IMDB claims Darkwing Duck didn't premiere in Russia until early 1993, it's factually untrue to claim it "broke through the Iron Curtain", especially not "during the height of the Cold War".
as GIJoe won the HeMan-Transformers-GoBots-M.A.S.K.-Voltron favorite toy war 4 me, if im being honest my top 2 cartoons of all time would be Binoc-6 at #1 & M.A.S.K at #2 with GIJoe 3rd
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed Darkwing Duck's similarity to The Shadow.👍 Also, I unironically say "let's get dangerous" any time I feel the need to psych myself up for something.
Finally someone pointed out Darkwing Duck is more The Shadow than Batman, the villains on the other hand, definitely mostly inspired by Batman‘s rogues gallery (and a little Spider-Man)
Dark wing Duck was like Disney take on Batman which was exactly cool for the time period.Even Michael Moore Robot Chicken take is so hilarious and scary at the same time.😄😵😢
Darkwing Duck was my favorite cartoon to watch growing up. When Funko released the Darkwing pops I bought all of them. Cartoons back then was sooo good and it lives on forever in our hearts and memories especially when the theme song hits.. I will have to break down and watch newest Darkwing episodes you mentioned but the animation style I just can’t take. lol I will fight to look past it.
Actually alternate universe Negaduck Along with the Fearsome Five first appeared in Just Us Justice Ducks part one and then again in Just Us Justice Duck part 2
What if Batman had a kid that never stayed at home? Then DC comics created Damian Wayne. And for years I always thought the BAS was an inspiration for DWD; but come to find out it was the other way around which is pretty interesting when you realize both were really popular and even still till this day. And to be fair; unless you were a die-hard comics fan when the show aired; not too many people were going to know who the Shadow is. In addition, that live action adaptation I only remembered watching in the local movie theatre after watching this UA-cam video. So, it's also possible a lot of people just forgot the movie and the character even exists. Just like the Phantom.
Disney was imaginative in making greatness of animation, television shows, a Disney Channel and more importantly, style like no other. Darkwing Duck is a prime example of my childhood. Love live DW.
Seth Rogan is heading that reboot and that makes me very concerned. They had gold with the DuckTales reboot. If they kept that going with the Darkwing crew then I'd be excited.
I found dark wing a bit hong Kong fuey and part inspector gadget dressed like the scarlet pumpernickel and adventurous like Batman. Batman as told by the 2 bill's who created him is Zorro in the urban city
Man that was when Disney was good! Now they would be better off if they just streamed 24/7 reality shows of grown ass adults kicking and screaming in the floor.
This was one of my staple shows as a kid. I got a lot of the toys, but they were cheap and broke apart easily. I had to do much toy surgery on them with superglue.
i live in japan and i cannot watch it on disney plus, one of the reason i have canceled my disney plus. if i cant watch the classics, then i certainly wont pay through the nose for some woke crap.
Also it was the end of the Cold War sputtering away the Berlin Wall fell in 89. The height of the Cold War would be somewhere I believe early to mid 80s
It being direct link to the evil entity in many religions. And religion on itself a delicate subject easily censored. So no place in an animation for young impressionable viewers. Sigh. We no longer censor the word ¨hell¨ and hell or the devil is fine in a live action for teens and adults, but Darkwing Duck that´s supposed to be a kid´s show can´t have it. And the violin contest with a robot devil in Futurama is like i said for older teens so likely therefore ok. Also countless references to religion in Family Guy.

they should have made a howard the duck marvel movie and tied in DarkWing Duck as a character to start a live action/animated crossover.
Good unexpected video, oddly nostalgic. I still remember that song, and the cartoon vaguely. It always came on after what I was watching (tiny tunes I believe) Just like the song to Tale-Spin lol. I swear I remember another duck cartoon replacing DW Duck.

As a batman fan I knew he was inspired by the Shadow as as Darkwing duck
I remember when my school had coloring pictures of darkwing duck during free time.
Still watch cartoons from my childhood. And darkwing duck is one of my favorites.
It's great that Darkwing Duck still gets attention it deserves. I'm in my forties and still enjoy the show. I collected the toys back in the day also. Long live Darkwing Duck.
I actually said “let’s get dangerous” to Jim Cummings at a convention one time, He liked it. Cross one off the bucket list 🤪👍🏻✅
I need better bucket list ideas. Respect!
One of my heros is Jim Cumming. Search his name and cichlid. You'll see why I was confused at first 😂😂
He visited my town once, but I didn't get a chance to see him. I did, however, go to a similar fan event at the same location and got to meet Felix Silla (Cousin Itt on "The Addams Family"), Doug Jones (THE SHAPE OF WATER) and Sid Haig (THE DEVIL'S REJECTS).

Haha i,m from the Netherlands and we had the Dutch dub… and there was the phrase “Laten we lekker link gaan doen “ used that a lot when i was young
As an 80's baby, I can tell you that Darkwing Duck was my favorite.
Yes, mine too
As a fellow gen-X kid I loved Darkwing Duck however my favorite Disney Afternoon cartoon was TaleSpin.
Darkwing has a better rogues gallery than some of the DC and Marvel heroes
Loved your video
thanks
This was such a great show! I remember watching it and also reading the comic books that were running in parallel! Great times.
Correction - It was Looney Tunes that did the death races.
One of the main cartoons I looked forward to on Disney as a kid.
Mine too such a great cartoon

i want more Darkwing Duck
Darkwing Duck: We want Darkwing! We want Darkwing!
i literally can't even think of how I would name my favorite cartoon from the 80s and 90s. Too many amazing ones.
Many greats. Transformers, Thundercats, dungeons and dragons, and many more😂
You say Darkwing Duck went into syndication in Soviet Union, but the Soviet Union colapsed in the first year it came out and the Cold War was already over.

I want Season 3 released on DVD!!
One of my most beloved shows back when i was a child
same
Darkwing Duck was an awesome series, I have them all recorded on VHS which are probably crap now. I would love if they did a reboot like Ducktales which was surprisingly well done.
What a pleasant surprise, Darkwing Duck is one of my absolute favorite shows from my childhood

91 was not the height of the Cold War. What the actual fuck.
I always thought he looked like Golden Age Sandman because Darkwing uses a gas gun from time to time like Dodds does and Darkwing's bill stick sout like Sandman's gas mask
" When your in trouble you call DW....DARK WING DUCK!!!"
People don't know otatop is potato backwards. Darkwing duck fans do.
Daring duck of mystery, champion of right,
Swoops out of the shadows, Darkwing owns the night.
Somewhere some villain schemes, but his number's up.
(3-2-1) Darkwing Duck! (When there's trouble, you call DW)
Darkwing Duck! (Let's get dangerous)
Darkwing Duck (Darkwing, Darkwing Duck)!
Cloud of Smoke and he appears, master of surprise,
Who's the cunning mind behind the shadowy disguise?
Nobody knows for sure, but bad guys are out of luck.
'Cause here comes (Darkwing Duck),
Look out! (When there's trouble, you call DW).
Darkwing Duck! (Lets get dangerous)
Darkwing Duck! (Better watch out, you bad boys)
Darkwing Duck!
Kath Soucie and Jim Cummings did Sonic SatAM (Princess Alicia Sally Acorn, Dr. Julian Ivo Robotnik)
The year the Soviet Union collapsed is the "height" of the Cold War now.
Not Korea or Vietnam or Cuba or the Berlin airlift? Okie-dokey artichokey.
❤ this as a Kid in the 90's
Seeing the dark wing duck episode must have inspired the writers of Superman TAS to make the brave new metropolis episode where Superman allies with Lex Luthor and becomes a tyrant. He goes evil after Lois is killed in his universe.

I'm 100% with you about the Denver the Last Dinosaur. Can't stand the show but that theme song is gold!
Part of my afternoon line up in the 90s along woth Goof Troop and Batman the animated series
"The Masked Mallard" didn't influence anything. Tad has said he never even saw that episode.
He fell on hard times and was forced to take roles in adult films.
And now living it up in the sewers lol
I wouldn't consider the early 99's "Height of the Cold War" lol
Darkwing Duck is on Disney Plus. They put a disclaimer warning on the show.Because Warner Bros did the same we can't have any sort of humor in classic cartoons oh no it so wrong to crack jokes on animal characters that aren't human beings. This why I absolute dislike the woke culture has destroyed classic cartoons because they can't handle humor.
Christine Cavanaugh passing was a real gut punch. She was the first voice actress I ever knew of and I thought she and Cree Summer were the best.
Still watch it now with talespin and cats and company 😂
For YEARS I wondered how the name Darkwing Duck originated. I'm glad my question was finally answered.
Mel Blanc *was* Hanna-Barbara
Jim Cummings *was* Disney
Accept no substitutes
We are actually getting a reboot ofnthisbshlw😂

This, Freakazoid, and the Tick are my holy trinity of comic book satire cartoons.
My friend had a bunch of the DD toys and Freakazoid merch, vivid memory
I've always been a huge fan of Dee Dubbya!
I used to always change my mind on the question of who is my favorite super hero.
Until some years ago I realized Darkwing Duck is my favorite, and probably always will be.
LET'S GET DANGEROUS
This show is funnier than Ducktales
Awesome video
Definitely gonna revisit some of the episodes
How bout do a Face off between DWD and Duck Dodgers
Lol
Ahem! EVERYBODY knows that ThunderCats was the best cartoon ever....

Darkwing felt way more mature than Chip and Dale and Ducktales. Even though I was very young I appreciated it more.
Finally someone pointed out Darkwing Duck is more The Shadow than Batman, the villains on the other hand, definitely mostly inspired by Batman‘s rogues gallery (and a little Spider-Man)

Love live DW.
"Time and Punishment" is what broke Darkwing Duck in that future. But Gosalyn was that last vestige of his humanity.
Seth Rogan is heading that reboot and that makes me very concerned. They had gold with the DuckTales reboot. If they kept that going with the Darkwing crew then I'd be excited.

Fav villain of all time is hands down Don Carnage! “We will be shooting you and looting you in precisely 10 minutes…felicitations”
Dunno if I could watch these new Darkwing episodes. The artwork really looks bad.
How many people even knows The Shadow l, really? Even I barely remembered the remake, let alone being well over DWD's target age group at the time.
Dan Larson from Toy Galaxy, what's happened to your voice, you don't sound the same?
Five hundred dollars? Five…? Hundred…? Dollars…? No wonder writers go on strike 🙃
soviet union ended july '91
Darkwing Premiered Sept. '91
Never saw it 🤷♂️
“Let’s Get Dangerous!”
Where for me the entire tone and artstyle fails for the Ducktales reboot, it could work for Darkwing since it was a different kind of show.
those are the two best cartoons of the 80s and 90s, it's an objective fact. We can do a flow chart and graph if you need proof.
This was one of my staple shows as a kid. I got a lot of the toys, but they were cheap and broke apart easily. I had to do much toy surgery on them with superglue.
🦆🔫 Let's Get Dangerous! 🔫🦆
Wasn't this series previously called what the F*** happened? :(
i live in japan and i cannot watch it on disney plus, one of the reason i have canceled my disney plus. if i cant watch the classics, then i certainly wont pay through the nose for some woke crap.
Batman already has a kid that won’t stay home Robin or actually a couple cause there were a lot of Robins.
I hope Darkwing Duck gets a reboot In the future. Maybe this year maybe the next.
Transformers
Batman the animated series
TMNT
Dungeons and Dragoons
GI Joe
Why with these types of reboots. Seen them reminds me of what they did with last chip and dale reboot.
Also it was the end of the Cold War sputtering away the Berlin Wall fell in 89. The height of the Cold War would be somewhere I believe early to mid 80s
what the fuck happened was 1992 happen. i shouldn't have to explain.
all remakes of shows have sucked.
DW is clearly inspired by The Shadow. People don't see that?
still love Darkwing, and now so does my three year old. Let's get dangerous.
Forgive me but it’s not obvious to me why that episode with the devil is banned?
It being direct link to the evil entity in many religions. And religion on itself a delicate subject easily censored. So no place in an animation for young impressionable viewers. Sigh. We no longer censor the word ¨hell¨ and hell or the devil is fine in a live action for teens and adults, but Darkwing Duck that´s supposed to be a kid´s show can´t have it. That´s why the heaven/ hell episode of Tom and Jerry also isn´t often aired. Just a reference to falling in the flames of hell is ok like in Mickey´s Christmas Carol. And the violin contest with a robot devil in Futurama is like i said for older teens so likely therefore ok. Also countless references to religion in Family Guy.
Nega duck and the liquidator were my favorite villains.
The soviet union had already fallen by the time this cartoon was released...
LOL how did he find out that the episode was available outside the U.S. ???
SecretGalaxy did this same video only much better over a year ago.
Hell i dont want a reboot they will just ruin it by turning him trans or something stupid like that
Why is the highest quality available for this video 480 p?
Live Action movie Anyone 🙋🙌?
Fun fact: Darkwing Duck was cancelled after couple episodes in Sweden. Due our FTC thought it was to "violent" for us kids.
Ducktales and Darkwing Duck were must see TV!
