I have been extensively using mine PRW-3000 for around 5 years now. Tough solar, wave ceptor, altimeter, barometer, compass. It was with me on every continent and some islands while mountaineering, spearfishing, hunting, even street fighting. The no1 outdoor watch for me, and yes I despise all the gps smart watch which last no longer than a few days.
Same here. I've tried 3 smart watches. Apple Watch - battery sucks and it's just an extension of my phone which already does everything. Garmin - it was ok, but still had to charge it once a week and it had some weird software glitches... and finally I said I'll try Amazfit, just so I have a "smart watch" for notifications. Had to charge it even more often and again some weird glitches, and in the end all these "smart watches" are made to become obsolete. I said screw it. Time to upgrade my existing tough solar watch I picked up at a thrift store for $15. Just wanted something little more tough although that one survived a bunch of hits , but the screen is now scratched to hell. Anyway, tough solar all the way. No need to charge, no need to change batteries, worry free watch. Love it.
We test our watches in the elements. Ocean, desert, woods, streets. The Casio ProTrek series is one of the best digital watches made. They are ABC capable, waterproof, tough, easy to use, and look cool. Check out the colors and functionality of this foundational outdoor watch. Six are shown in the video! -nutn
Glad you took my advice from your previous EDC Watch video! I have the CASIO PRO TREK PRW-3000YT-1JF Black Titanium! And it goes with everything. It is a total Rock Star! I call it "Vader"!
Found a 3100YB-1 at Costco.ca for $239.00 Canadian which is a total steal. They have the 300 in black with and orange bezel for $149 Canadian as well. Your video sold me on the series. I’ve not gelled with G-shocks as much as I want to. I just had a green Rangeman which was awesome but my wife commented that it looked like I was headed to war lol. I needed a more subdued watch with the same basic ABC that could be worn as an EDC. Back in my military days I wore a G-Shock in the field but lost it. Hopefully the Protrek will stick with me.
This is why I love nutnfancy reviews. No BS, very informative, and not in the pocket of anyone. Functionality of a product, especially an outdoor product, should be the single most important aspect of its design. I currently wear a Casio Tough Solar watch that only cost me 29 dollars. From a fellow Utahn, keep it up nutn!
Just ordered the prw-3510y-8cr. I was originally going to order the PRW-3500T-7CR (titanium) but the 3510Y-8 got me. Silicone Strap, STN LCD etc. It has the EXACT same features as my gw-9400 Rangeman which spoiled me because very few watches have ALL of the Rangeman's features EXCEPT the instant starting of the stop watch from the home screen with the "D" button. PS... That 4th watch is the PRW3500Y. You had PRG on the brain 😉👍. (just for your other viewers)
Thx for review! I have like sinusoid feeling 😃 come from Protrek ages ago to G-SHOCK for a long time, and then through some dive watches (solar and automat) Seiko, Citizen, Orient back to Protrek. Recently 2 new ones, PRW-30, and PRW-60Y. Sure, they are designed for outdoors, climbing, trekking etc. so for ultimate military watch, I would also take G-SHOCK. But sure, there are all so universal that it’s basically does not matter. It’s just all outdoor. Thanks again. Cheers
Just got one for Christmas! I love it so far. Like you said, really easy to read and fairly intuitive to set. Not to mention super comfortable. I usually go for analog watches but I'm really digging this one!
Hey TNP nation, its 11/16/16 and the Pro-Trek is a daily deal for black Friday on Amazon. There are huge discounts on multiple models. I picked up a white with negative display for just 70.99. Thought this might help some of you today.
myantispambox To be perfectly honest, G-Shocks and ProTreks are very very similar. They have both small and large versions, they have both twin and triple sensors, etc... It all depends what model you're looking for. Internally, they probably share more common stuff that any other watches. Either way you want a G-Shock or a ProTrek, you can't go wrong. Then, it's more just a question of preferences, looks, etc... so to each his own.
Hi nutfancy, I have a question... On 1:05 i see you use Nato strap... Do you use adapters or you just take out the resin strap and put back the spring bars, and slip right out the nato straps? Thanks.
I regularly scuba dive with my PRW-2500T ProTrek. 90ft is the deepest I've taken in the past year. Even my old beat up PAW1300T-7V "Pathfinder" is still going strong after 7 years. It's joined me on at least a hundred dives, several deployments, and everything else outside. It has been beaten so badly that it's probably on it's 4th set of aircraft safety wire (to hold the wrist ban on, the pins holes have given up the ghost a long time ago.) Both are solar version, never have to worry about batteries.
Bought one of these back shortly after this vid came out. Been my constant companion since. It's now seen Glacier, Olympic, and New Zealand. Screw through bars work excellent with a nato strap. The original band didn't last me a year. It was decent quality, I'm just rough on them.
26:54 ALWAYS use current declination when navigating. In some parts of our globe, you can be off more than 20 degrees if you do not adjust for declination.
I literally added one to my cart on amazon yesterday! I didn't buy it yet because I wanted to do a little more research. I'm glad to see you doing these watch vids nutn!
welp nutn, after like 5 watch videos in the past month or 2 with countless incredible options, I've settled on the 9400 rangeman. absolutely cannot wait!
just got a prw-6000 for my birthday. Such a great watch. good stuff as always nutn'! im loving the watch reviews, looks like you guys are having fun with it.
loving the watch reviews. I have a prw s3100 1jf and it's been an excellent watch. it's been from the ocean up to 13,500 feet, 110f to -5f without a miss. I wear it every day all day.
Whats the best survival watch for a woman? I want one with a compass and barometer and that's solar powered, but don't want it to look silly if its too big on me! Recommendations? Thanks!!
80% of Casio's watches can be considered good outdoors watches lol. I wear a crappy $30 Casio Vibration alarm watch to work pretty often, it holds up just as good as mu Seiko does, it shows wear but it still works just fine.
00:58 hilarious b roll shot of your arm. Miss nutn is like What are you doing?? Love this watch been wearing it for almost three years. Prg 270, I didn't want atomic for a reason.
Sweet... I'm actually glad to see some of these watch reviews because I've been wanting to get an "every day" outdoors watch but I just don't know what's out there! Thanks for bringing them to our attention! Annnnnnd after watching this I'm getting a Protrek.... for sure
+nutnfancy, have you had any issues with the prw-3000's resetting. I picked up a PRW-3000-1CR with module 3414 and it has done a complete factory reset three times in the week and a half that I have owned it. I did a little digging on-line and found that it is a common issue with the prw-3000 line in general with the 3414 module. Apparently, they are highly susceptible to static shock. I am trying to deal with Casio about a resolution. Hopefully they can fix the issue.
Thanks for making such great reviews - just ordered my first protrek. Your Busa vids also helped me decide on buying one a year ago which I sadly lost in an accident recently. Keep up the great work - a subscriber from down under.
I've been rockin' a Casio G-shock atomic solar (black) for 5 years now and totally diggin' it! Got it for Father's Day for going out and adventuring. Nice review bro!
Really digging these watch vids nutn. in no particular order, my weaknesses are guns, knives and watches and thnks to your suggestions I just bought a ga-110rg-1A Friday and it showed up yesterday. it's flippin sick! love it.
Any thoughts Nutn on the Garmin Fenix 3? I use it hard every day, gps, abc, hr monitor, activity tracker, smartwatch... I love it and would love to hear your or Doodle's opinion on it. Thanks.
Nutn, could you measure the area just between the lugs (outside of those knurled pieces) of the burnt orange strapped watch with the spinning bezel to see what size Zulu strap would fit?
I've got the PRW3500. I call it my boyscout adventure watch. Like you said, once you set it up it's set up forever. Solar/Atomic/DST/ABC/Sunrise&Sunset has it all!
I had a pro trek about 10 years ago, it'd probably still be around had I not lost it. Anyway, I have an old Casio GWM5600-1 with solar power and atomic/radio. Had it for about 6 years, never changed battery, it's always on H and there's not even a need to make sure it charges by putting it in the sun, it eventually gets enough sunlight anyway so you never have to worry. It's no pro trek, just what I need, not too expensive but same tech (maybe a bit older versions) when it comes to battery etc. But for those who need or want a pro trek, they're awesome so go get one!
Can anyone recall the smart watch Nutn liked that someone else was wearing? I think he ended up buying one? I had the link open at work on the video he talks about it but the computer was restated and I can't remember what video it was in.
One correction on the signal strength when syncing: L1-->L2--L3. L1 is the weakest with L3 being the strongest. You got them mixed up @ 18:20. No big deal. Just thought I'd bring it up for the sake of accuracy.
Great watches! I'm a bit of a Casio fanatic. I have 12 Casios, including 2 Pro-treks. Also, if your viewers are interested in an outdoor watch at a lower price point, they should check our the Casio twin sensor (sgw-100). It's a "baby" Pro-trek, compass, thermometer, 200m water resistance for $50CAD...so about $4USD. No barometer or altimeter, no multiband 6, no solar power, but still a heavy hitter at the price point.
Hey thanks been trying to decide on a watch past few months helped me make a decision. bought one with a blue nylon strap with black highlights was about to buy a victorinox good watch non the less but this is better from all info i have seen
Great Watches .... I have used them for years and had many of them and none of them have broken. Yes your right ball park sensor readings but...... any port in a storm.
I've had the PRG 270 for a few years now. Love it. The only thing it doesn't do that I wish it did is tides. If it kept track of the tide it would be perfect.
Many years ago, I had a working Casio Pathfinder (pag40), replaced it with a Suunto X10mi because of the cost for Casio to recalibrate and fix the watch. Pleasantly satisfied with the Suunto until a few years ago that they stopped supporting the maintenance of the watch. I now have a Suunto Ambit II and love the watch. I agree that Suunto's watch menu system has a bit of a learning curve and is not as intuitive as the Casio. Great review though! I might look into another Casio for an alternative to my expensive Suunto.
Test the Garmin Instinct Solar. I am sure you will LOVE it! Currently on sale for $250. There is a tactical version for skydiving and night vision goggle compatibility. There is a surf version for tides. The bread crumb tracking keeps you from getting lost.
Hey Nutn, do you consider prg300 (I think module 3443) too small as compared to others? Also, you mentioned it has atomic time keeping, how do you access? I have viewed most of your watch videos as well as your grw and krw videos. Outstanding job. Please keep them coming. Thank you
I would go for the PRO TREK (5:14). You will lose some drop protection but the extra features/thinner profile will compensate. The G-SHOCK/PRO TREK is like the Glocks.
Ordered a GA-1000 in orange, package got lost, thinking of buying this now. To bad it lacks temperature and the lights on the GA with the analog looks way better but here i would get solar, alt and barometer instead, like always 1st/2nd cool. Man its hard!
Digging the watch reviews Nutn. Always been a Pulsar fan, but my everyday watch is a Timex iron man. Was a basic Casio until it got destroyed at work...moment of silence for simplicity.
Awesome watch reviews Nutn! I have an older G-shock that is solar and atomic but no ABC function. Been looking at the the garmin and suntuo watches but after seeing all these bad ass Casios you may have changed my mind. Love what your doing brother, long time TNPr, double owl. Looking forward to the next backpacking vid!
Agreed that the altimeter goes off sometimes but that is due to pressure variation in the atmosphere and can't probably be blamed on the watch per se. We have to make a compromise on this ; either have a GPS watch with poor battery or get a barometric altimeter with frequent calibrations. I have ordered a PRG-270 and intend to take it for my Himalayan Treks. I suppose you have a topographic map with you and keep Calibrating the watch when you cross Checkpoints. That'd mean you'll have to calibrate it thrice a day. Once while starting your trek, once you cross halfway and once you reach your destination. And the next day when you start, you can check the readings with a topographic map and see if there is any variation. If there is a variation, it is either due to weather change or your watch is faulty. Weather change can be found out by reading the barometric graph. I feel, these watches are very reliable once you calibrate it frequently. Yes, that can get annoying, but it is still better than a GPS watch.
Just when I thought what watch to get. You come out with another great watch review. Now back to the drawing board with yet another great option to select from. Of all the watches you have, what one has the best abc features and that are the most accurate?
hey nutn.. love the videos.. I just got my first casio pro trek.... am struggling to get it set up since its my first one.. is there anyway way you can make a video on how to set up... I feel like it keep getting it set up then over night it will change everything. lol
Been using prw3500 for 3yrs now, its a very good watch, used it while swimming ,cycling and even to gym but tends to hit places cause of the size, but a very durable and genuine watch still not a scratch on it.
I've had one of these for about three years and I wear it daily. Its truly a great watch for day to day non fashion use. My only gripe about it is that the compass seems to be pretty unreliable, which is unfortunate. Other than that its awesome!
I have been extensively using mine PRW-3000 for around 5 years now. Tough solar, wave ceptor, altimeter, barometer, compass. It was with me on every continent and some islands while mountaineering, spearfishing, hunting, even street fighting. My wife just bought me the Casio Pathfinder PAG-240T for my birthday. I admit that i'm not a huge watch guy but this watch does everything!
Just got one for Christmas! I love it so far. Like you said, really easy to read and fairly intuitive to set. Not to mention super comfortable. I usually go for analog watches but I'm really digging this one!
Same here!
@@emdblyou been using it daily as my only watch for 3 years and its a great watch! Built like a tank!
Damn you and all the watch porn. I went back and re-watched all these Casio videos and spent quite a bit on Amazon. Well done sir.
Hey TNP nation, its 11/16/16 and the Pro-Trek is a daily deal for black Friday on Amazon. There are huge discounts on multiple models. I picked up a white with negative display for just 70.99. Thought this might help some of you today.
I love this move into watches, compliments the rest of the content on your channel really well!
i prefer the g shock line. several that are solar powered that simply cannot be beat.
ProTrek are solar too
Most G-Shocks are just too damn big. Most (any?) don't have all of the features of the Pro-Trek (sunrise/set, maybe others).
the solar line are much smaller and light weight. i think you'd better explore options of the g shock line
myantispambox To be perfectly honest, G-Shocks and ProTreks are very very similar. They have both small and large versions, they have both twin and triple sensors, etc... Hi nutfancy, I have a question... On 1:05 i see you use Nato strap... Do you use adapters or you just take out the resin strap and put back the spring bars, and slip right out the nato straps? Thanks.
would you suggest this as both an edc and an outdoors watch?

hey Nutn or Doodle, what is that military plastic bag on the table called at 2:28. Also where can you buy them?
26:54 ALWAYS use current declination when navigating. In some parts of our globe, you can be off more than 20 degrees if you do not adjust for declination.
Hey Nutnfancy. I JUST got this watch in the mail yesterday. I love it so far. It's a bad ass watch.
I literally added one to my cart on amazon yesterday! I didn't buy it yet because I wanted to do a little more research. I'm glad to see you doing these watch vids nutn!
welp nutn, after like 5 watch videos in the past month or 2 with countless incredible options, I've settled on the 9400 rangeman. absolutely cannot wait!
nice choice
just got a prw-6000 for my birthday. Such a great watch. good stuff as always nutn'! im loving the watch reviews, looks like you guys are having fun with it.
Suunto Core all black is for the stealth level man.
I've broken too many Suunto watches.
Enjoying the watch reviews. Keep it up! Future idea for a video: knife & watch combinations that excite you lol :)
Your reviews are leading me to add some Casios to the watch collection! These feature length watch reviews are really nice.
Excellent review, Nutn. Can't wait for the Suunto one to compare!
loving the watch reviews. I have a prw s3100 1jf and it's been an excellent watch. it's been from the ocean up to 13,500 feet, 110f to -5f without a miss. I wear it every day all day.
Lol too much real life
Whats the best survival watch for a woman? I want one with a compass and barometer and that's solar powered, but don't want it to look silly if its too big on me! Recommendations? Thanks!!
I dont get why people think these watches are ugly. I prefer these way way more than a g shock.
What do you think about the GShock Rangeman or mudman?
My protrek tough solar watch needs battery replacement. Rechargeable battery does not hold charge anymore
80% of Casio's watches can be considered good outdoors watches lol. I wear a crappy $30 Casio Vibration alarm watch to work pretty often, it holds up just as good as mu Seiko does, it shows wear but it still works just fine.
Hi , is TNP (the nut and fancy project ) the correct terminology? And is it is what does it mean please
I actually watched such a long video just to see those beautiful watches
Hopefully they can fix the issue.
what pro trek would be the best for military infantry
Do you know if the nylon strap from the green watch will fit the orange watch with the metal face, and really orange strap?
Thanks for making such great reviews - just ordered my first protrek.
Your Busa vids also helped me decide on buying one a year ago which I sadly lost in an accident recently.
Keep up the great work - a subscriber from down under.
That sucks, man. I kept pissing NF off by calling his bike Gary.... Gary 'Busa. I think that's why it highsided me! -TD
nutnfancy Gary probably had a little too much to drink 😏
Thanks.
Does any of them offer Grid location?
Nutn, could you measure the area just between the lugs (outside of those knurled pieces) of the burnt orange strapped watch with the spinning bezel to see what size Zulu strap would fit?
I just got a Casio ProTrek 3415 as a gift. I like it.
I have the PRW-2500 and love the thing! Living in colorado and changing altitude all the time its great
I've got the PRW3500. I call it my boyscout adventure watch. Like you said, once you set it up it's set up forever. Solar/Atomic/DST/ABC/Sunrise&Sunset has it all!

I purchased one of these off of your recommendation, just got it, and I love it!!!
Thanks Nutn!!!
God Bless 0:-)
Could just be mine, but the backlight wont backlight the compass. My compass has also lost calibration a time or two.
I just bought this watch last night and I wished you had a video about it lol love the videos! tnp!
Nutn, if you had to choose between the Casio Protrek and the Rangeman for an outdoor expedition, which would you prefer?
was expecting to see the PRW-3100 in this review. Hope it shows up in a future review. Keep up the good work!
Can anyone recall the smart watch Nutn liked that someone else was wearing? I think he ended up buying one? I had the link open at work on the video he talks about it but the computer was restated and I can't remember what video it was in.

Heads up TNPers. Orange / OD pro-trek available on Amazon for $115.00 as of 3/17.
That Star Wars coloration is sick! I wish it were available in a 3000 series.
I have the Casio PRG-270-1! Love it and it's been one tough watch!
Once you have an atomic and solar watch you'll never want to go back. Freaking awesome! Never have to worry about setting it or damn battery dying.
How to put on the screen protector?
Hey thanks been trying to decide on a watch past few months helped me make a decision. bought one with a blue nylon strap with black highlights was about to buy a victorinox good watch non the less but this is better from all info i have seen
32:30 "eye is in the value of the beholder" - Nutnfancy aka Yoda.
I'd love to hear you take on the analog/digital version. I think those are a great looking watch and am considering buying one.

Love my Casio Pathfinder! Very similar to the ProTrek in a lot of ways.
Hey is the prw3000 big like I have a fairly medium sized wrist how would that be on me?
Saw a CZ P-09 in the footage supressed... maybe something to come?
what Cain sun glasses are you using on this video sr?
Tomas De Paz I would love to have them review the best sunglasses for active lifestyles
To autoilluminate motion upward as well as the twist of the wrist. I have the PAG240-TCR
I think you should get the pink version for PFIdude.
Those are some really cool looking watches.
The beige color reminds me of the old computer cases from the late 1990's to early 2000's.
Hey Nutn, do you consider prg300 (I think module 3443) too small as compared to others? Also, you mentioned it has atomic time keeping, how do you access? I have viewed most of your watch videos as well as your grw and krw videos. Outstanding job. Please keep them coming. Thank you
So what do you think about the gg1000? I watched your video on it and I'm still undecided.
Thank for the review!! Can confirm for my POU gulf master! because the tide feature is essential to my needs.
Can i dive with the prg 300?
Man, I am digging these Casio watches.
So sweet. Loving this vid.
Ok
Thanks for the review!
any experience with the G-shock Rangeman?
Have you looked at any of the Sunnto watches. I heard that they are really good. Especially, the Core and the Traverse.
I was going to ask if you have ever had a Suunto. Looking forward to this review
Hey have you had any experience with the Casio "Mudmaster"?
You mean the Mudman?
No the Casio Mudmaster
i have a Mudmaster, basically it's a ProTrek engine with chunky g-shock sturdy body.
oh, and Mudmaster got sapphire crystal glass too
Ahhh see I like a little bit more slimline. I also dig that baro trend feature on the Protrek. Thanks for the info!
I have the black and green prw 3510. It's the watch that I hope I have on if I no-clip into a different reality
My EDC is the Casio AQS810W. Sometimes I'll sport my black and gold Telememo 30. I'd like to get my hands on one of these, too.
I'll guess everything's getting archived, but I did get one of these and am going to get another soon.
I've had one of these for about three years and I wear it daily. Its truly a great watch for day to day non fashion use. My only gripe about it is that the compass seems to be pretty unreliable, which is unfortunate. Other than that its awesome!
Depending on your model, you may need to calibrate the compass, read your manual and make sure you are using it correctly, yours may be defective?
TheCRDMiller I'll have to look in to that. I've had the watch for so long I may not be able to find the manual haha
Anyone, what model CZ is the grey framed two tone with the silencerco can in the beginning?
cant wait for the suunto review
