Thanks for all the watch and knife reviews. Any time I consider buying a watch, or knife, I come straight to your channel to see if you have reviewed it. I found you while looking for G-Shock reviews. Never considered the 7900 until I watched your review. I bought the 7900B (black with negative display) and I love this watch. It’s my EDC watch and I will be buying more colorations, I love it that much. The multiband 6 is amazing, and the moon phase display, is great in the field, just to know how much illumination I’ll have at night. Thanks for spending your time to help us all out! Keep up the watch reviews. I’ll probably buy this watch due to this review. It’ll be a great back up watch to my 7900

Thanks Tyler and glad to help. Changing watches if fun, just like EDC knives. That 7900 is a great watch and I have them in my rotation. Great looking and versatile. You won't go wrong with this SGW either; just put on a GREY 18mm NATO strap for total perfection. It made it great.

I've had this watch for probably close to 5 years, I actually wore out the strap it came on and got it redone about a year ago. Love it because I'm not scared of beating it up or anything.

I remember when I got my off-white PRG-300 for $70, now it's $155, what a steal. If it wasn't for these watch reviews I wouldn't have even known about it. Love the watch reviews.

I've had one of these for the last 2-3 years and it is a spectacular watch for the price! The only time it leaves my wrist is if I change over to my nicer watch (also a Casio) for more dressy occasions. Otherwise, it almost never leaves my wrist.

I got a Casio ABC watch at Walmart that was about $60 that was literally exactly the same as my protrek. It did have issues after a while where, even with a fresh battery, it would short out and return to factory settings...so internally there may have been a quality issue but for the time it served me it was just as good as my protrek as far as I could tell.

Casio has the tech to put that information in a small 2 inch diameter watch head. Wonder if they would make a credit card sized digital "pocket watch" with the barometer, thermometer, altimeter, compass, world time, alarm, stopwatch, pedometer, LED light (color options), countdown, pacer, data bank, calculator, fish mode (moon phase?), calendar, etc. etc. all in one? I'd buy that too! :)

  • @willywantoknow2563

I'm liking this watch, but my main concern is... How do new digital watches hold up in the cold? Any improvements from older classics (from1990's)? I live in a climate where -30° to -40° is common, my experience is digital display just fades out to being illegable... Why I've stuck with analog...

Thanks for this review. This is the kind of watch I'd wear day to day. I think I like the Timex I'm wearing, but I'm always on the lookout. This is exactly the sort of unbiased info I'm looking for. The only thing I've got against the lower cost watches is the lack of a rotation bezel, but that's just the price point. BTW, just me talking, but I've grown to prefer the plastic band because they dry out quicker (I live in the South East, very humid.) Again, thanks, this is the kind of info I need. Way to go, pivoting into your core audience.

Nice watch I've got 2 older twin sensor SGW-100B's that I love and use as EDC watches. Wondering what you think of the Galaxy and Galaxy S3frontier watches. Since you have an apple watch which I here is awesome but doesnt present like a real watch where smart watches like the Galaxy do. Curious of your thoughts as I'm sure many others are. I have a hand me down victorinox watch from my father that I wear for nice occasions but I must admit I'm a one watch at a time wearer and my daily watch takes a lot of abuse! So the casios are my go to and they Do hold up to abuse as you know!

Great review! I bought the watch, and I am on my 3rd one due to the previous watches arriving with dead batteries. They worked for setting time, and a few days, but all have ended up dead.. Not good luck so far, but I do really love the watch when it works. Amazon has been great replacing the watches. I called for a return yesterday around noon, the replacement watch arrived by 8:00am today!!!! I had better get a battery and watch a battery replacement video this time.
Is it just me, or do watches now come with a "starter battery" like inkjet printers with their "starter cartridges"?

Let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

lol. This watch was an "upgrade" for me when my last Casio from the bottom of the line croaked. The brand has been strapped for almost 30 years now, and this "upgrade" is just as good. This should make it into the nutn "high value" category, because its a good deal. Agree about the nylon bands, I've had too many of the plastic bands break. Used a velcro nylon band that outlasted 3 watches. Yeah, it smells like it too. :o

Always funny seeing the Apple/smart watches in the gym. I don't care what it tracks. You're still wearing a freakin' watch in the gym.
Then again, I may be the only one who realizes that NATO straps make otherwise nice watches look cheap (G-Shock and field style exempt, of course) and that the way of attaching the strap that leaves that loop on the side is ridiculous.
On top of all that, it's kind of amazing when you take a breath, step back, and look at the ridiculous-looking watches we'll allow ourselves to be convinced are really "cool" or "sick." Brighter colors, white, etc., make an already plastic/resin watch just look like a $12 toy. And how many of us have watched a vid on a Pepsi diver, taken a moment to reflect, then realized that they're extolling the virtues of a dive watch with a red and blue bezel - aesthetics that don't fit in in any setting except while diving, while underwater?
Still, everyone it entitled to love whatever looks they want. Just don't seek approval or re-assurance regarding that purchase. You do you, unapologetically.
