I bough one, in green with cordura brace, back in 2015. I was an outdoor mountain guide in the Argentinian Andes back then and it never let me down. Beaten, muddy, dirty, a bit scratched up, but it still works perfectly fine, and the battery is the one that came with it. Recommend it 100%.
Tough solar is a casio technology which not only converts solar energy to power reserver but also converts any light source to power reserve. I own this exact watch and i must say, it will last a life time. God level watch.
This is one of my favorite Casio outdoor watches. At this price point, it offers everything (Triple Sensor) to dedicated ABC Buttons. The only thing I sorely missed was the Moon Phase display. But again people would say that I'm asking for a lot at this price point. But considering the fact that it packs a lot into this , I don't think cramming a Moon Phase display inside the watch would have been issue. Having said this, this is bang for your buck. The altimeter and Compass are spot on (provided you calibrate altimeter when weather changes) and one could actually use this as a survival tool. The battery is outstanding and the navigation is very easy because of 5 buttons to play with.
Thanks for the insightful comment! It's real bargain package I have to say... I haven't done the research but there may well be a Pro Trek model with the triple sensor along with moon & tide display for around the same price. The Rangement would be a primary competitor within Casio to many of these lower end Pro Trek - for around the same $200 price you also get the triple sensor, sunset-sunrise, and tough solar, PLUS atomic time sync, G-Shock construction, and steel buttons on top!
Thanks for this review, Ivan. today, Amazon is having a sale for this watch, at $79.99. So before I buy, I wanted to see a review or two. your review was the first one on youtube. Awesome. Love the review, Ivan and I just bought the watch! thanks and have a great weekend.
Haha wow this was from such a long time ago! My work has changed quite a bit since I think. What are the most obvious differences from your perspective?
@@PerthWAtch now you have more confidence in what you do. that is the biggest difference. second most obvious thing is that you connect to your audience more now than before.... take care Ivan. Looking forward to your next review. is it Saturday? or Sunday?
With the PRg270 you can set the Latitude and Longitude and the sunset function will work. Its in the settings menu, Once the adjust button is held down and time setting is available tap adjust button one more time for the Lat and Long options
Yeah I commented on being able to set this at 8:40 but despite doing this the sunset/sunrise times it came up with was definitely not correct for my city. Pretty sure I checked and rechecked it, but hey maybe I still got it wrong!
As I watched collector I love all kinds of watches I recently purchased the G shock Ga 900 But have always been really interested in the Protech watches even though they are not G shock they are still made by cassio yes you go I just bought the PRG270 and I love it
I think unless your lifestyle is rather extreme, the toughness of Pro Trek like these are fine. Truth is, if you're pushing a G-Shock to it's limits, you're likely hurting yourself and will need to stop before the watch will give in!
I'm not commenting on colours as that is rather subjective. With regards to the physical watch, I don't think either is necessarily better, the modules effectively have identical functions. The 240 is bigger and has a tougher look, and has the duplex LCD if that's desirable for you. The 270 is more streamlined and "quieter", so would overall be more versatile. It depends on your taste and purpose.
Hello there,Anyone can tell me for sure if i can or cannot scuba dive with this watch? Also I dont really understand when a company say the watch is 100wr but then I cannot go for a dive 18m???Thank you.
Hi there, thanks for the question. This watch is rated 100m and based on info Casio themselves provide you can skin dive but should not scuba dive with it. The ratings refer to static pressures but remember that doing any activity creates dynamic pressure which can transiently be significantly higher than static pressures. Check out the Wikipedia article and other sources for more info: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_Resistant_mark
A former coworker of mine went diving with his G-Shock (GWM5610) which was rated 20-BAR. The watch went as deep as 75 feet with no issue. He did tell me that he had taken care not to press any of the buttons while he was under water!
I wonder if you can tell me if the temperature is effected by your wrist, ie do you need to take the watch off to get an accurate temperature reading. TIA
I rewatched that part of the video, you mention it has temperature sensor and demonstrate it and comment that it is at 31C, but you don't say how accurate to the temperature that day. The one I have appears to be off so I agree that it's not accurate@@PerthWAtch
It’s not actually inaccurate as such… but I believe everyone would consider the purpose of the function is to show the ambient temp and as such it fails in many circumstances as the body temp affects the reading. Leave the watch on a table or any neutral surface and it shows the ambient temp accurately.
Good evening. I bought such a pag-270 watch. I don't understand how to use the barometer. It was raining and the graph was growing at the top. Could you explain to me. Thanks in advance
Both are original. It is just that they have 2 factories to manufacture watches. The ones made in Thailand are in no way different from the Japanese ones.

In term of outright functions, the models are essentially the same. The 240 is overall more robust in construction IMO, and also features a double layer LCD (top layer being the digital compass). It is bigger and bolder, so if you want something quieter go with the 270, but for outright rough and toughness, it's 240 that wins.
Hi Elsa, it's got Wellington but not Auckland specifically. You can adjust for the difference in location by inputting your own coordinates but when I did it for Perth the times didn't seem to match up precisely with the local weather bureau (as compared to the Rangeman which was spot on... maybe I made a mistake?).
