No. He said whatever is in cardboard that can't be taken off, leave in your basement, garage, or outside. If you dont have room to unpack inside on a sterile surface, you leave it outside and bring several at a time. If you think you should leave ice cream, or milk, or meat outside regardless of any miscommunication, there's no help for you and you probably shouldn't be living on your own.

Did you miss the point, although he said to be kind to him, next step in cognitive processing is be kind to all people - one has to wonder if it is a case of - glass house throwing stones... FYI refrigerators are set in the low 40's F.; freezers below 32 degree F. if it is cold outside, like it is in NY, some foods can be left outside in enclosed areas, to avoid attracting animals. Just like in the winder and 0 outside, do not have to rush home with perishable foods. FYI - I have a masters and I am certified to teach sanitation - it is about knowing sanitation - , the rate of growth of bacteria/germs at what temperatures, "the danger zone" etc. In stead of looking down on others, I commend those who are educating themselves. I do look down on people who are MEAN. Random Acts of Kindness and senseless beauty - do not harm to others - a rule ALL people should live by not just doctors

You are a great man, and a total professional. Thank you for the Food safety video. My mom would not have taken it as seriously as she should had she not watched your video. I learned a lot from your video, thank you and positive thoughts your way.

@@Dr.JRemington the elders are stubborn beings for sure! only for ME, I am the elder, living in a house with my significantly younger brother and his autistic son. I am here because I became a a widow five years back and my brother has his disabled son living with him and he said he really could use a woman's touch about the place and a female to do some mom like nurturing for his son. So, I have taught my nephew all about this sort of stuff, we use gloves to get the mail, gloves and mask when he goes out to the store for me, leaves his shoes outside, we "do the decontamination" of the items together with gloves and a disposable garbage bag into which all the cardboard, plastic etc goes straight into and then out to our fire pit. We was the eggs after we remove them from the cartons and put in containers in the fridge, we wipe down ANY frozen food containers before they go into our chest freezer. we was all produce, etc etc, but my BROTHER is another story!!!! Trying to convince him that he may well bring COVID-19 home to ME with is near impossible. He believes the whole corona thing is bs . I asked him this evening if he wanted his chief cook, bottlewasher and housekeeper to be around for awhile longer....we got into it pretty heatedly and I kept my cool as I do love the guy, but my parting conversation was this: you have an the studio apartment over the garage, complete with kitchen and full bath, washer and dryer etc. SO IF YOU will not commit to keeping me safe by doing your part, then I suggest that you move up there till this is over and we can "distance" ourselves about the property (we live in the country with large house, and other buildings) as I need to stay in the house with your son and the dogs. If you REALLY are going to continue to be DUMB, then I can take your son and our dogs and go to my Daughters home she has the room, and SHE AND HER HUBBY AND KIDS are ALL doing ALL the right stuff. He said nothing so it will be interesting to see where we are at in the am. Hope he let it all sink in.

Along with your advice, we really need life skills in school and or courses for "adults". Many people aren't teaching their children how to do anything. I had to teach a group of 20 somethings how to wash, rinse and sanitize dishes in a food demonstrating job. I thought this is common sense. They were all dead serious. They all grew up with Mom doing it all or a dishwasher in the home. That whole experience was an eye opener for me. I teach my child life skills. Apparently, other people don't. Keep up the informative videos!

I also teach life skills to my 5 children but honestly, besides the dishwasher, mine would not know sanitizing dishes methods. And we do A LOT of chores & life skills at my home. My 2 older girls have been doing their laundry since 7 & 11 years old. They all have their own ser of chores, even the young ones. They know how to disinfect the sink & counters & common things like how to not reinfect areas etc. Not being argumentative, just curious, why would I need you to teach this? If they get a food service job, they will learn that there. Just curious! Thanks

That's the scary reality of "snowflakes". How oblivious many people are. (Even older adults who should KNOW to practice basic hygiene all day long don't. Probably even now.) What if they were/are in charge of something that could become serious? Like food handling and not knowing to wash their hands after using the toilet or how to survive without mommy if Siri or Alexa stop working. Power outages will be complicated for them.

The question I have relates to the use of disinfectant on plastic like milk jugs as I am not sure how much, if any, of a disinfectant might leach through the plastic into the food and make it unsafe to consume. Are there certain disinfectants or concentrations that are safer than others for this purpose? I looked at the CDC and what I saw recommended for surface cleaning was about 4 teaspoons bleach per quart of water. Not sure I understand how much disinfectant to use around foods.
