I have OCD, and I honestly feel like I’ve been training for this my whole life. This is how I treat every flu season, I know this is MUCH more serious. I have increased my hand washing even more though to the point my hands are bleeding which worries me that I will be able to get the virus from the cuts in my hands.

Just sanitized the plastic your stuff comes in, wash produce with soap if you feel insecure same as your hands, and that will kill anything

I use Formula 409. Same thing - it’s on the list of cleansers that kill bugs. Ditto Lysol & Clorox Spray You can look up recipes for making your own spray Clorox. Just Google and you can find lots of happy housemaker recipes for Clorox, dish soap, and water.
Ive been taking the packages to my back yard though my side gate. I cut everything open. I have a sanitize wipe in each hand, one to grab the item and one to wipe. I then leave the items on a clean table to dry. I put all the boxes in my recycle bin. I then go into the house opening my door that i kept slightly open earlier with my elbow. I then push the soap dispenser down with an elbow and turn on the water with my elbow and wash my hands for 30 seconds. Never bring those dirty boxes in the house and clean the dirty items on your dining table or kitchen counters.
my taps are round and i cant turn them with my elbow . sucks to be poor . i'm on disability and will have to get someone else to do my shopping . also i'll have to move the fridge and freezer outside on the deck so that they can put my food in to sit for 3 days just to make sure the virus has died . just have to eat dried foods for those three days . heat and serve .

This is what we do at home, everything that comes in the house is being sprayed and sanitized and also if 1 of us go in a store, when we arrive home, we undress in the garage and put clothes in a bag and then wash right away

Hey just quarantine the package for 2 or 3 days. The virus lives in it for about 24 hrs as they say. Leave it in a spot where there isn't a lot of people traffic. Wash hands when touching mail afterwards.

Sweet Caramel not true. Corona virus is a respiratory one. It enters the body through mucus membranes such as eyes, nose and mouth. It cannot infect you through a cut on your skin. Honestly, it’s safer to wipe down the item and wash hands immediately right after. You may increase your risk of cross contamination when wearing gloves.

It's now April 12th when I'm writing this comment. Two days ago a large order of groceries was delivered to me on my front porch. I sat out there and disinfected each item with sanitary wipes that I just happened to have on hand. I have one container of sanitary wipes left. I hope I'm able to purchase more wipes at some point. Anyway I was very meticulous about cleaning them, then tossed the bags and the gloves into the outside trash bin. Then I thoroughly washed my hands before bringing the goods into the house. It took me about three hours. Maybe I was being overly cautious, but It's better to be safe than sorry. At least I don't have to worry about bringing COVID-19 into my house. Damn, I hate being paranoid. lol I hope this lock down will be over some day. Be safe everyone.

But the fine print tells you that’s under ideal laboratory conditions where they’re giving it every chance to live. So In the video they also tell you that the virus doesn’t like cardboard very much. Well i don't have disinfectant wipes like Lysol, there hard to come by right now. but i have a Question? i have a bottle of Mr Clean Antibacterial cleaner. can i pour that into a tub of baby wipes and let it soak for about 1 or 2 Hrs. then use them as disinfectant wipes?

Big Steve that info was re: a cruise ship and those findings were apparently only specific to that ship. Some cabins that had positive covid cases in them were left as is, after the parties vacated. The cabins weren’t disinfected so that they could be studied. What was found was SARS-CoV-2 RNA*, NOT live virus.

@@rondadrumm64 There could be lots of people walking around (including delivery drivers) with CV that don't have symptoms, so best to err on the side of caution. There's no need to wear gloves or do this outside, just be reasonably cautious and treat everything incoming as potentially infectious.
Direct sunlight is also effective. But I agreed with someone I knew that said it’s just a matter of when for most of us. We cant keep this up forever. Hopefully at that point we will be better able to treat the viral infection.
Since Amazon doesn't have anything anymore I basically quit ordering from them. If you do order watch out for shipping costs from some of their partners, they are crooks.
I ordered 2 packages of household essentials that I could only find online last weekend. When the packages arrived, I looked at the UPS trackers online and both had been through the Chelmsford MA UPS facility where there are at least 3 Covid positive employees. I spent over 2 days on the phone with UPS trying to get them returned to sender. Thank goodness they were picked up today. I hope it was enough.

I'd invest in Gloves, Mask, disposable rain poncho and lots of Lysol. Technically, you would only need a face shield as your not dealing with a sick person that could sneeze on you. You would mainly have to worry about handling contaminated packages and then touching your face afterwards. I'd wear a dry-fit under armour so I could take off the uniform outside of the home and sprays it down or bag it to wash or bag it for 24hrs so the virus can die, and then jump in the shower after I spray myself down with Lysol outside the home.

I guess for all non-food packages, you can just set them in a small quarantine area of the house for however long it takes for the viruses to die on surfaces before you open it. If you can wait a few days for the package to arrive, you can wait a few extra days for the virus to die.
I wear gloves and threw out the boxes right away. I also hand reusable masks to my Carriers. I’ve handed out 3 so far. Have more deliveries to do before I take a break.

This is what we do at home, everything that comes in the house is being sprayed and sanitized and also if 1 of us go in a store, when we arrive home, we undress in the garage and put clothes in a bag and then wash right away

If you don't need the contents right away, put it in a trash bag, put it somewhere where no one can get it and leave for 9 days (medical journal and other reports have said it can survive on different surfaces for up to 9 days). Save on wipes/lysol/etc.

Hey just quarantine the package for 2 or 3 days. The virus lives in it for about 24 hrs as they say. Leave it in a spot where there isn't a lot of people traffic. Wash hands when touching mail afterwards.
Right!? I only have a pack of 4 Clorox wipes that I bought in December. I bought some wipes and hand sanitizer for my kid’s classroom because it was flu season. Next thing, no school for 2 months. Sweet Caramel not true. Corona virus is a respiratory one. It enters the body through mucus membranes such as eyes, nose and mouth. It cannot infect you through a cut on your skin. Honestly, it’s safer to wipe down the item and wash hands immediately right after. You may increase your risk of cross contamination when wearing gloves.

It's now April 12th when I'm writing this comment. Two days ago a large order of groceries was delivered to me on my front porch. I sat out there and disinfected each item with sanitary wipes that I just happened to have on hand. I have one container of sanitary wipes left. I hope I'm able to purchase more wipes at some point. Anyway I was very meticulous about cleaning them, then tossed the bags and the gloves into the outside trash bin. Then I thoroughly washed my hands before bringing the goods into the house. It took me about three hours. Maybe I was being overly cautious, but It's better to be safe than sorry. At least I don't have to worry about bringing COVID-19 into my house. Damn, I hate being paranoid. lol I hope this lock down will be over some day. Be safe everyone.
I mixed a bottle of bleach water (according to CDC guidelines) and spray down my packages and leave them outside for awhile. Then I put them in a remote room and let them sit for at least a day.

Well i don't have disinfectant wipes like Lysol, there hard to come by right now. but i have a Question? i have a bottle of Mr Clean Antibacterial cleaner. can i pour that into a tub of baby wipes and let it soak for about 1 or 2 Hrs. then use them as disinfectant wipes?
I usually just use a loud speaker and yell at them to drop the package and back slowly away. Neighbors don't like it but that's what they get for having so many bright lights on all the time ruining my astronomy.

One mistake: you can ask people to ask the delivery guy to leave it and leave without it being delivered. There are millions and millions of people who would worry but the package would be stolen or not even delivered if there was no obligation for it to be handed over. The proper protocol is just like for food he rings the bell he puts it down he steps away to meters and waits for us to answer the door not just ring the bell and go like it's Mischief Night Before Halloween

Big Steve that info was re: a cruise ship and those findings were apparently only specific to that ship. Some cabins that had positive covid cases in them were left as is, after the parties vacated. The cabins weren’t disinfected so that they could be studied. What was found was SARS-CoV-2 RNA*, NOT live virus.

Well I work for Amazon and we sterilize the whole facility everyday all day even the boxes before they arrive to the door step and the drivers also have to sterilize the vehicle not sure what they are taking about

Well if this thing was indeed super deadly as the media is saying then we would all be dead already if it just from a cough here and a sneeze there. @@rondadrumm64 There could be lots of people walking around (including delivery drivers) with CV that don't have symptoms, so best to err on the side of caution. There's no need to wear gloves or do this outside, just be reasonably cautious and treat everything incoming as potentially infectious.

Vodka is not strong enough. Try to find grain alcohol or EVERCLEAR, is 190 Proof, at your liquor store.
Direct sunlight is also effective. But I agreed with someone I knew that said it’s just a matter of when for most of us. We cant keep this up forever. Hopefully at that point we will be better able to treat the viral infection.
Since Amazon doesn't have anything anymore I basically quit ordering from them. If you do order watch out for shipping costs from some of their partners, they are crooks.
I ordered 2 packages of household essentials that I could only find online last weekend. When the packages arrived, I looked at the UPS trackers online and both had been through the Chelmsford MA UPS facility where there are at least 3 Covid positive employees. I spent over 2 days on the phone with UPS trying to get them returned to sender. Thank goodness they were picked up today. I hope it was enough.
Here's my tip:
Wipe down or spray down package or handle with gloves
Open package and take out contents and spray or wipe down content
Discard of box or envelope in garbage..do not bring in house
Wash hands and face soon when you go back inside house. Extreme but necessary
Just open it with latex gloves, then throw the box and gloves in the recycling and trash.

Microwaving reportedly does not kill the Novel Coronavirus. But cannot get from hot food, discard packaging, or put in refrigerator and discard packaging when ready to eat. You will then microwave the food anyway.
My Dr's office is saying to mix bleach 50/50 with water in a spray bottle. Spray the surface of the box & packages inside. Let sit for 15 minutes before bringing into your home.

I'd invest in Gloves, Mask, disposable rain poncho and lots of Lysol. Technically, you would only need a face shield as your not dealing with a sick person that could sneeze on you. You would mainly have to worry about handling contaminated packages and then touching your face afterwards. I'd wear a dry-fit under armour so I could take off the uniform outside of the home and sprays it down or bag it to wash or bag it for 24hrs so the virus can die, and then jump in the shower after I spray myself down with Lysol outside the home.

I guess for all non-food packages, you can just set them in a small quarantine area of the house for however long it takes for the viruses to die on surfaces before you open it. If you can wait a few days for the package to arrive, you can wait a few extra days for the virus to die.

I take the package to the back yard and spray it with lysol,then I leave out there overnight....So far ,so good.
I wear gloves and threw out the boxes right away. I also hand reusable masks to my Carriers. I’ve handed out 3 so far. Have more deliveries to do before I take a break.
It's not necessary. If you do not need the contents right away, leave the box alone for a week. If it's sunny, leave it outside in the sun.
Dont forget to sanitise your box of cereals you buy at the grocery store.
