  • WE WANTED TO BE ABLE TO SIT UNDER OUR DECK ON OUR WALK OUT WITH OUT GETTING RAINED ON. WE PRICED THE STUFF FROM TIMBER TECH AND THE REST OF THEM. THERE PRICES ARE OUTRAGEOUS, IN MY OPINION, AND WE HEARD OF PEOPLE USING BARN SIDING UNDER THEIR DECKS, WE WATCHED A FEW YOU TUBE VIDEOS AND THOUGHT WE COULD DO THAT. SO WE WENT TO MENARDS AND LOOKED AT ALL THE BARN SIDING AND BARN SIDING ACCESSORIES, FORMULATED A PLAN, AND PUT IT UP, HERE IS THE RESULT. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THERE ARE 3 PARTS TO THIS VIDEO, IT WILL SHOW MOST OF THE PARTS IF YOU WATCH ALL THREE, EVENTUALLY THE LINK TO PART TWO WILL SHOW UP IN THIS DESCRIPTION, SO LOOK FOR IT, SUBSCRIBE, AND YOU WILL BE NOTIFIED AUTOMATICALLY, THANKS, MIKE
Filming details....used a Panasonic HDC TM-900 with a mounted RODE video mic, Sony Vegas Pro 11, with Pixelans Dissolve Master for transitions. Music is royalty free from OPUZZ. com, the opening video is from Footage Firm.com is also royalty free. I paid for all this stuff from the indicated web sites, if you need to look at their royalty free agreement, have at it, thanks, Mike

So sorry about the music, i hope it didnt get in the way of you gleaning some good information from the video... i am not a professional video editor, but i think some times it needs something in the background, it looks like i was wrong on this one.... thanks for commenting, liking and subscribing, i do appreciate it, and i have subscribed to your channel also, good luck on all your projects, Mike

What about the leaves, dirt & debris that makes it's way through the upper deck ? Do the gutter filters clog up the debris between the siding roof & the underdeck space??

Okay...good question, my deck is a composite that only has every 10" a small weep hole for water, there is noway debris or material gets in there, occassionally at the bucket at the downspot of the gutter i will find small particles from the roofing material, but other than that there is nothing in there except water, it runs semi clear... now if you use 5/4 board you will have a gap that runs from one end of the board to the other, that might allow some debri... but my compostite, like i said, it doesnt allow any of that, hope this helps...thanks for commenting, liking, and subscribing, i do appreciate it, Mike

okay...my wife saw me writing this and she informed me that occasionally a helicopter from the maple tree gets stuck in the weep hole, but as far as she knows it doesnt go in the weep hole....her resposne to me was.."how would you know, i am the one that cleans the deck every spring and fall!" LOL

Shouldn't the pointy ridges been on the top side? Then you'd have more area for water and debris.

Okay, that is a thought except, i really just put it there for the birds and insects not to get in underneath the panels, i wanted the water to flow unimpeded to the gutter, this way the fuzzy material acts more as a guard to prevent animals, birds and insects, wasps, from making nests in there... the debris is so small and the gutter so big it just flows out to the downspout..... thanks for commenting, subscribing and liking, i do appreciate it, great question!!
