    Taking this project on my self, with no experience. Your video is the most informative, concise one I have found on UA-cam. Thanks.

      How did your project turn out? And if you don’t mind me asking.....what was the cost of your project? I’ve got a 20x15 patio cover.

    I hovered like this and checked the work as a contractor completed a similar project for me. It drove the contractor nuts but saved many mistakes, corrections, and ruined materials. I don't know the answer. As my father said, these guys want to "get done, get paid, and get out". That's all. Good video. Thank you.

    Do you guys drive the nails all the way in or leave a little room between nail and soffit???? Thanks!

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair
      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair 3 роки тому +1

      If you do not leave room the vinyl soffit will expand and cause wrinkles never nail siding or soffit or facia tight. Use galvanized inch and a quarter roofing nails.

    Can this be nailed on 24 inch span or is that to much ? I want to do this in my garage but the rafters are 24 inches on center. Also I'll be doing aluminum to stay in code.

      You can buy everything at Lowe’s hardware or Home Depot. It’s your choice.

  • @angelf9800

    How much will this cost for a 28 feet long and 15 feet wide.

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair
      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair 2 роки тому

      Well when you go to Lowe’s or Home Depot and you buy the stuff it’s approximately two squares per box so you’re looking at about $80 per box. And two squares will cover honor 10 x 10 or 10 x 20 10 x 10 is one square 10 x 20 is two square You can buy the material fairly cheap at the building supply

      I decided to change the direction. We have a 50’x10’ wide porch we were wanting to go legnth wise across the porch . But the beaded celling is only 12’ long we have a gable over the center of the porch the two sides on either side of that gable are about 16 ft long roughly. If we had ran the legnth of that we would have had a joint where it butted up the only way i see i could have fixed that was add j channel and we dodnt want that so we changed the direction

  • @gerard3442
    @gerard3442 2 роки тому +3

    Incorrect, you never nail tight, you need to leave a small amount of room for your vinyl to expand and contract.

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair
      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair 2 роки тому

      Exactly what I said. Never mail it tight as plastic will expand and cause wrinkles

      @@Drewsroofingandhomerepair no we just got the patio/porch built similar to what you show in the video. I’m going buy soffit today… and I’m not sure whether to buy the soffit you have here in the video or the one with the holes I it.

    • @Drewsroofingandhomerepair
      @Drewsroofingandhomerepair 2 роки тому +2

      If it needs to be vented then buy the one with the holes in it if it doesn’t need to be vented then buy the regular stuff to be honest I don’t think it matters which one you buy. Vented soffit is made for areas that need air circulation. Circulation is important for moisture. I generally use the vented on the outside boxing only. That would be The bottom outside edges in the boxing area the rest of it in the middle I would use solid. Thanks for the question hope I can help
