    Great video, thank you! I understood that you choose to grow them in the jar for your day too day. Why do you prefer the jar instead the other way? If I'm not wrong, you don't have to worry about changing the water and the sprouts are bigger with the electric machine. Thanks again.

      It really depends on what kind of sprouts you want. The jar is great for little salads or maybe to top a steak. So I tend to make more that way. But now I love my machine!!! The machine is great for larger sprouts for stir fry or as a side dish with seasoning. So it really depends and what outcome you want. And to clarify you do have to change the water in the machine. Everyday. Super easy to pull out the center pipe and sprinkler head and remove the top. Then dump water and replace. But you do want fresh water everyday or it gets really thick and kinda gross as it rinses the beans. I hope that answered your question. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe to keep in touch. Thanks for your question!

    Wow. Great video. That sprouting machine is fascinating! But the jar is awesome too. I bought mung bean seeds probably a year ago and still have not tried them. I need to do that.

      Oh you will love them. I use the small jar all the time. We even fry em up afterward. Great bean flavor. But this new method of long sprouts has me excited. Stir fry this weekend for sure!

    I'm a fiend for bean sprouts. I've been told that you can grow them easily at home so I did some research since they're hardly ever in my area fresh and found your video. Just got my sprouter machine in the mail, we'll see how it turns out. Your harvest looks amazing.

      Keep me posted. It’s quite amazing. I did microgreens the first time which worked but if you have good beans they turn out amazing. I love true leaf market beans. True leaf market: www.pntrac.com/t/3-139809-265590-153185 But keep me updated on your harvest would love to hear how it went! Also I love my Patriot seeds and that link is in the video description. My bean and radish sprouts in a jar are almost ready. I have a knockoff areogarden lettuce ready to use with them for a salad. Cherry tomatoes I preserved in olive oil from garden to add. Whatever I can scrounge from fridge like cheese.

    First off great video! but instead of feeding your chickens the roots, would you be able to put it back in the machine and reproduce the beans again?

    • @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie
      @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie  Рік тому +1

      No I don’t believe you can. Once you have cut the top off it’s like a rabbit eating the plant and nothing would survive. I would think although I have never tried it. Thanks for the comment and for watching!

    I sprout about six months from now and sometimes I get like cotton on the roots when the ventilation is not ideal and I put it in the garbage some say this is not mold and I don't know what I hope you can help me with this is it mold or what

    • @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie
      @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie  Рік тому

      If it's very early on it could be root hairs. But it could also be mold. If you are using a system like this make sure you are changing the water every day. If you are using the jar style again make sure you rinse them at least once a day or you can do it twice. They must have a well drained environment. If you are doing microgreens in any type of tray then try a different growng media and see if it works. As much as I don't like the rock wool for many things they do work well with microgreens as well as coco coir. I hope that helps!

      I don’t believe I have those settings in mine. But maybe it’s the time of the water 5 on 15 off etc. ? That would be my guess or how many days you want it to run. Not sure. I’m so sorry

    Hi there! Great video! Seems like a lot of water waste. Can you use the water in a garden?

    • @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie
      @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie  3 місяці тому

      The water isn’t really that much as the roots end up drinking a lot as they grow. You could toss it outside but it’s pretty gross and if you leave it too long it will start to smell so be aware of that.

    • @GrowYourHomesteadWithAngie

      No because it takes a short amount of time to grow. Just make sure you are using the right beans as I had issues with the wrong kind the first time. As they grow the water runs less and less :)

      I can’t remember off the top of my head but do you still have a digital countdown? And is the sprinkler head still running? It may have timed out and if they aren’t done yet turn it back on by unplugging and rr plugging it back in to start another cycle.

      Anything would either grow to a tree or become a full plant. But eating them as sprouts the plants are more nutrient dense. So yummy!
