    The purplish sprout is not because of the towel stain. It is because light filtering through. I normally cover the entire tray with a black plastic bag and keep it in a cool dark place. You can also weigh down the towel to make short and fat sprouts. Thanks for showing us the video, very nicely done.

      @@АннаАмбарцумян-ц2х - I am from Vietnam, we use it in salad, soup, stirfry, in rolls, and in many other dishes. We eat them raw or cooked. You can google search "uses for bean sprout", you will find various delicious recipes. Enjoy!!!

      Can I use white or brown beans. Soyabean,wheat , whole corn, millet,guinea corn. Those are what available in my country.

      I was so curious the title stated 8:47 "there's no need to water" but what I saw in the video water was used to grow the mung beans.

    Water is needed to hasten sprouting, but save spraying.
    Sufficient for animal feed as well.

      You can but mung beans at Asian grocery stores. To me you can use any beans..

    When we do bean sprouting, we actually put the beans in the shade away from the sun. The reason is because we want only the sprouts but not a whole plant. When beans is exposed to sun and given too much water, it grows to a plant, grows its leaves that is. We dont want our bean sprouts that way so we hide it from the sun and only sprays it with water on regular intervals. But if you want you bean sprouts to have leaves you can do just as what he did in the video.

    I just wash them & put them in any plastic container, normally the empty plastic cintainers that fruit or veggies come in. I put a teatiwel at the bottom. Slightly dampen ot & put the mung beans in & cover it with a cloth.

    I think it's Great you can do this to feed many in very short time. It's Awesome. I'll never do it because I cannot stand the taste of bean sprouts. LOL Please discover other plant options this will work for so I can have an option.

      I think you mean Bamboo shoots, as they are white and fleshy.

    Which sprouting trays? What is the depth of water & how many cups can you have between trays? Do you cover the seeds with water?
    Try spacers (pop bottle caps, pool noodle etc) if more water is desired between waterings.

    How do you keep after growing? Just eat as you go? how long do they last after growing and do you hv a particular storing/preserving method. Sprouts are very nutritious but hv short shelf life from what I hv seen. Nice growing containers.

      You just need to wash it - Put it in a zip bag
      Store in the refrigerator for 3-5 days

      Keep the sprout in the fridge for a few it doesn’t last long. I stir fry or eat it raw with Asian beef and chicken soup.

      I have this question as well. My guess is, once the roots touch the water the towel need not be moist, but I may be wrong
