  • Join us on this adventure as we explore the Peruvian Andean/Incan capital of Cusco. We undertake a cooking class and sample why Peru is voted time and time again some of the world’s best cuisine!
    We explore the significant Incan ruins surrounding the city and visit an Alpaca and Condor sanctuary.
    After we head to the city of Arequipa, known as the “white city” due to its UNESCO world heritage listed colonial architecture. From this beautiful city we head out to the world’s second deepest canyon, known as Colca Canyon where we witness the worlds largest land based bird, the Condor in astonishing numbers!

    We head back to the San Pedro markets with Cusco Culinary cooking school and select the best fresh produce Cusco has to offer. Afterwards we learn how to cook traditional Peruvian and fusion dishes/drinks such as Pisco Sour, ceviche, Andean potato and cheese gratin, quinoa risotto and sample local chicha morada and exotic fruits. We check out some of the best restaurants in Cusco to see why Peru is known as one of the best places on earth for great cuisine.
    Incan Ruins Cusco 12:15
    We head out to the surrounding Incan ruins of Cusco, known as some of the most important ruins of the Incan empire. Including Saksawayman, Q’enco, Tambomachay and Puka Pukara. We learn of their historic and cultural significance before heading to a nearby community project known as ‘Manos de La communidad’ where they look after Alpacas, Llamas and orphaned Condors. We finish up the day at the Andean grill where I try Cuy, a local delicacy of oven baked Guinea pig.

    We visit the second largest city in Peru, Arequipa. Known as the “white city” due to its stunning Spanish colonial architecture. We take in the sights of the beautiful UNESCO world heritage city.
    Colca Canyon 33:49
    We depart early for the high Andean plateau, where active volcanoes can be seen erupting in the distance. The canyon itself is the second deepest on earth and the scenery of the Colca valley is stunning. We head to the Mirador Cruz del Condor where we see the world’s largest land based bird in astounding numbers. After learning about the Condors we stop at Baños Termales de Chacapi where we take a dip in the thermal pools.
    We return to Arequipa as we say goodbye to the Andes.
