    This is by far the best made video on the Inca Trail with wonderful and very instructive narrations on the history of Machu Pichu. Can’t wait to experience this amazing wonder of the world in person.

      Can you please explain why you chose the inca trail and not salcantai ? We are trying to decide between the two of them

    • @GlobalTravelStories
      @GlobalTravelStories  5 місяців тому +1

      @@reem101188 we mainly chose the Inca Trail for its history. I did the Lares trail 10 years ago also. Both are very good, Lares and Salkantay are great if you want a bit more peace and quiet, although they are getting more popular and I was surprised by how few groups we encountered on the Inca Trail. Surpassed expectations.

    Machu Picchu is the ruins of a city from the Incan empire that was built in the 15th century. The ruins are in the Andes Mountains, over 2,000 metres above sea level. Its walls and other architectural elements are cut into the natural rock.
    It’s not certain why the city was first built, although some sources suggest it was used as a royal retreat for the emperor, Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui. It is thought to have been used between the 15th and 16th centuries, but was gradually abandoned over time. Today, it is a very popular tourist site, so much so that the Peruvian government has begun limiting the amount of people able to visit each year to preserve it.

    Great video. Loved the narration and information plus the ultra clear videos. I do appreciate the slow panning, some creators go too fast and its dizzying. My question is: was there older/elderly people on the hike or up top? I know the elevation can be challenging for older folks and people with heart/lung issues. 2) did Alpaca tours have first aid trained staff and equipment? Thanks.

    • @GlobalTravelStories
      @GlobalTravelStories  3 місяці тому

      Thank you! ☺️ I’m not sure which elderly people you are referring however there was a guy on our tour group in his 60’s that seemed to do alright. It can be challenging however for anyone who doesn’t train regularly. Altitude, however can’t be trained for and I’d recommend spending some time in Cuzco beforehand and even do some other hikes there such as Rainbow Mountain which we feature in another video. Alpaca Tours had very professional and well trained staff along with first aid experience from my knowledge, you could always reach out to them. I’d highly recommend their company!

    This was a excellent video. Great shots, relevant information, and beneficial 🎉I am scheduled to visit in June...just curious, how did you manage restroom breaks...I did not see many bushes. Everything appears to be in the open?

    • @GlobalTravelStories
      @GlobalTravelStories  9 місяців тому +3

      Thank you for that, I’m glad this video helped with your research. There are bushes along the way especially in the lower altitudes but there are also multiple restrooms each day. Plus I find hiking and sweating reduces the need to go so each break was sufficient for us..

      Thank you! We put a lot of work into our videos.. the jacket was a local NZ company called Mountain Warehouse, I’ve recently upgraded to a Macpac 10,000ml rain jacket because that green one wasn’t very effective with heavy rain.

      Hi Monica,
      Glad you loved the video, thanks!
      Unfortunately we don’t do packing list videos, maybe one day but for now my attention is spent on making the best quality vlogumentary style videos I can.
      I believe we were both wearing North Face Future Light boots but we have both since upgraded. I have purchased some Mamut Gortex boots for our Everest base camp trip coming soon.
      The Inca Trail seemed fine in our standard hiking boots though, I wouldn’t imagine you’d run into any issues with something similar. Have an epic time on the trail, it’s amazing!

    • @GlobalTravelStories
      @GlobalTravelStories  16 днів тому

      I believe 10% for tours and tourism is expected of foreigners. People are on pretty low wages there so I think that’s quite reasonable

      Thanks! As a tour guide history is a big part of what we do. The opinions expressed are that of the local people and come directly from them. The history itself is objective and never subjective. Stating established facts shouldn’t be avoided in these videos, in fact it’s a huge part of what draws us to travel in the first place and something we will never skirt around, everything has been well researched before posting.
