    Any altitude sickness? Thinking of spending a few days somewhere lower elevation before going to Cusco... And best time of year to go?

    • @wattstraveling
      @wattstraveling  2 місяці тому

      Hi there! No altitude sickness, but you could feel the difference. Out of breath, light headed. They say visiting between April and November because it's dry season, but it snowed during our Salkantany Trek and had to cancel it...... and I found cusco chilly in the night. Hope that helps?

    Hi… thx so much for this video. I’m going with 4 kids (ages 18-24) Aug 1-15th. We were going to spend first half Cuzco, second half Lima. We were going to do the 3-4 day macchu picchu Inca trail hike. However, the subtle complaining has begun. I don’t want to spend that money if I’m going to hear complaining
    along the way. The day hikes you showed may be a great alternative. If you were going to go with 4 (18-24 yr olds,) which day hikes would you recommend, and how much altitude acclimation time would you recommend?

    • @wattstraveling
      @wattstraveling  8 місяців тому

      Hi there! You are most welcome! I'd give yourself atleast 2 days to get acclimated.....3-4 MP Inca trail is challenging.... but there will be lots of people you'll meet along the way....I honestly think once they are there, they'll enjoy it and remember it forever. We really enjoyed Ausangate..... and Palccoyo.... always good options. Have a great time.... you'll love it! ❤️

    Great video and tips, certainly very helpful. I'll be visiting Peru in mid July. Got a question about the currency. If you've to visit Peru again, how will you manage the local currency? Here in the States, I bank with Chase. I'll certainly check with them as you've suggested here. I believe certain high-end hotels offer currency exchange as well and so does the airports (although I'll be reaching Lima late at night). Have you considered using something like Wise debit card? You can deposit $ to your Wise account and then use the debit card to get cash in local currency in Peru. I believe most places like tour companies, restaurants, gift shops, hotels accept US cc. But still better to carry some local currency. Will appreciate your suggestions....

    • @wattstraveling
      @wattstraveling  7 місяців тому

      Hi there! Thank you for your feedback! ❤️
      Definitely check with your bank for international connections, you could always bring some cash to get you started(in local currency) many places take American money, you might not get the best rate on exchange..... but people use it all the time there, it's not uncommon. Many tour groups you can use visa as well, I think they'll charge a few percent more for using cards(like in many countries) but that seems easy enough and won't deplete your cash. I've never used the Wise card, never felt I needed to.
      Have a wonderful time in Peru! We LOVED it! 😍

      @dzongrila1 7 місяців тому

      @@wattstraveling Thanks for the prompt response. My hotel is already booked - JW Marriott. I'll be booking all the tours in advance. Will carry some US $ as well. I just need to figure out what's easiest and best way to get some local currency to use for tipping and buying gifts from small local shops. Not too sure I'll have time to visit a bank there. Let's see.......

    • @wattstraveling
      @wattstraveling  7 місяців тому +1

      @dzongrila1 ohhhh the JW ..... NICE! great location too! Don't stress yourself out, just bring some local currency with you..... order it from your bank it shouldn't take long for them to get it. Many gift shops you can use cards as well (if you're buying from shops).... but not the little lady selling goods on the trails/tours. You'll be fine! 👍

    My flight to Lima is September 20 @10pm. Do you know any buses leaving Lima to Cusco at night? I hope to sleep in the bus and be energetic when I arrive in Cusco.
    I'm having trouble buying machu pitchu ticket from the Peru official website, tickets are sold for 3 days. Could it be that the local tour operators bought all the tickets for sale with commission? If so, have you seen travel agency selling machu pitchu ticket?
    Is it easy to buy bug spray from the local pharmacy or supplement? I'm flying budget airlines so cannot bring more than carry-on which already costing extras
    The website indicates routes/ circuit for tickets, which circuit is the easiest since I have old knee injuries. Any tips will be great, thanks

    • @wattstraveling
      @wattstraveling  Рік тому

      Hi there! There are busses leaving cusco at different times, I would recommend spending the money on the seats that fly recline 180 degrees, because honestly the roads are SO WINDY and BUMPY it's hard to sleep. Machu Picchu tickets were the only thing we bought a month in advance, but yes there are MANY company's wanting to sell you tours. We did circuit #2, and loved it! I believe 3 and 4 are the shorter ones(but click the link in the description box) to read each one! Many places sell bug spray, not to worry! 👍Have a great trip and thank you for watching! ❤️.... oh and book Carlos as your tour guide, he's great 😊

      @@wattstraveling thanks for your reply. I'm budget traveler and it's already prepped for 3 or 4 airlines to charge me for Carry on bag on each segment 😭 does the Peru domestic flight charge for carry-on bag?
      I will shop for travel agency in Cusco when I arrive to rainbow mountain and lake Titicaca day trip.
      I have visited half of the world UNESCO heritage sites around the world, never hire a tour guide 😊 I paid for a horse ride in Petra, the horse owner became a tour guide to ride next to me😁
